I feel kind of sick in the stomach that everyone is focused on a celebrity's political allegiance over the forced removal and missing 545 children from their parents. Imagine being forcefully separated from your parent(s) and the damage it would have on you....As an Australian I know the intergenerational trauma this will have because it happened to Indigenous Peoples...sometimes we humans have messed up priorities to the point its depressing... no matter what political allegiance we have, policies that remove children from their parents should all be vehemently denounced by all.
I find it so odd that the one who made the decision to start this whole "pilot project" is getting away free. No charges on causing children being separated from parents for over 3 years? Imagine if you are like 7-8 years old and are separated from your parents until you are 11 or if you are parent, maybe stupid for trying to cross illegally, but still a parent and now separated from your children for years. That leaves really deep emotional traumas that can have life-lasting effects. Will Mr. Trump pay for the psychological help those people may need in the future? Nope, sure he wont. I just find it so odd that you know who had to sign off on that whole project, who was in charge of the decision and you let them get away. I am quite sure if my country's president would sign a document allowing such project, even if she would not be considering something like that happening, then she would take the responsibility as she was the one to sign the document and let it happen and probably would step down on her own. I guess there is the reason why people do not react to it so much, that being "oh but those children and parents are not american citizens, they do not matter" mentality. Heck, I even see there opportunity to make the whole topic political and against Trump, but american citizen seems to care about getting rid of mexicans in the country, so it would not be that much of a thing to use against him... Last time Trump won with "We build a wall between Mexico".
Here's a question: If Chris Pratt came out in support of either party, would it change your mind about who you were going to vote for? If NO, congratulations, you passed. Let's not forget that the idea of separating kids from their families on boarder crossings started with Clinton. (wasn't a law it was just a policy). Obama's administration had the highest amount of separations over their presidency, while Trump had the highest percent per year due to the 0 tolerance policy (again wasn't a law). Trump ended the separations and has worked on fixing those mistakes. It's funny how Trump is blamed even though Obama and Bush did it for 8 years each.
@Purty Princess a lot of the families that were separated were just innocent families who were seeking asylum legally. Just because someone might be trafficking children doesn’t mean they are, whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty? Moreover, illegal immigration is a misdemeanor, there is no need to separate families and traumatize toddlers and children for the rest of their lives over it. I’m not saying the border shouldn’t be enforced, I’m saying that the punishment should fit the crime. That’s the 8th amendment, but I can see that you don’t care about the constitution, you just want children to be tortured because the tv and Facebook told you that you should. Remember the caravan back in the midterm elections in 2018? Funny how trump and conservative politicians stopped talking about it immediately after the election, huh?
Its called being underfunded. The border has been asking for more resources for 20+ years. wtf you think is gonna happen. Sad thing is, half those kids in limbo right now were probably used as props or being sold/stolen as payment for the crossings. The parents either know where they are, or lost track of them long before Border patrol got ahold of them.
@@ElMountainMan Its not a matter of funding, its a matter of policy. No amount of funding is going to make reuniting those separated families feasible at all. The point is that they should not have been separated at all.

It is also a catch 22 because if they do speak up people say "it's just for publicity, otherwise they would keep this stuff private". Then if someone like Pratt speaks up they say "why are you speaking up, when you didn't before?" or "I don't trust him he's only taking a stand once it's popular". He wouldn't win this battle because he hasn't always been political.

I watched AOC's stream last night. It was a lot of fun. She's very charismatic and Among Us is a good game for a newbie to stream. She talked about voting early on and at the end, but as far as I remember never mentioned Trump once (she may have mentioned Biden, but I don't recall), and a few hours in there was a breif discussion about the differences between the NHS in the UK and the US healthcare system, but other than that it was very a-political and just a bunch of people playing some videogames together. I loved it. 10/10, would watch again!

It risks being a further conflation of celebrity and politics. Celebrities have been doing the invite the public (via media) into their homes to build a (manipulative) sense of intimacy. Phil kinda gets to the crux of it with the beer test. A lot of people said George Bush seemed more like the type of guy you'd have a beer with and catch a game compared to Gore*. Additionally, a direct line to the public sidelines the press. It's intimacy over policy, while cutting out the people who might check if you're being manipulative. I mean a live stream of beer pong might make a candidate seem human, but is it a good idea? I wouldn't want to live in a world where Angela Merkel would have to be on twitch to be electable. * who seems more like a wine guy.

My problem was that a lot of the girls in the mcu got hate and death threats and their mcu costarts stayed silent on it. But they didnt with Chris Pratt.
Imagine a world where Judges fine people based on a percentage of what people have Judge to individual person: We're fining you 110% of what you own Judge to multi-billion $ company: We're fining you .5% of what your company makes
A speeding ticket, between the fine itself, and my insurance would effect my stability years to come. Corporations get fined millions of dollars off of the billions they made. That isn't a fine. It's an investment.
Can you imagine the circumstances that would force you to leave your home country? And then when you finally, finally escape, having your child stolen from you with no way to contact them? This is hell
Well, maybe enter a nation legally. If you enter illegally, you MUST be separated from any children with you. This is because human trafficking, aka: actual slavery, is a real thing, and happens A LOT on the border. You must separate the kids and interview them separately.
@@TheJaguarthChannel stfu there's no excuse to kidnap children and break families apart. That causes more harm than illegal immigration. Trauma is a thing, you freak

The issue being with the necessity of separation of the children is that cartels use families to transports drugs and other contraband. It is a dark reality. Proof of them being actual children of the "parents" can be difficult to prove. Cartels such as the San Luis cartels have no morals what so ever and will do anything, hiring children, using families as mules, and those are the issues of the reality of the border situation. Sometimes I feel, me being Mexican and my family growing up in extremely rough parts filled with gangs and cartels, that the rest of the United States does not see the dark shadows that hide in the border situation

He divorced his first wife because she nearly died giving birth to their son, and while she was recovering from that experience he went out and allegedly impregnated another woman. It’s not just that he’s conservative, he’s just not a good person.
TBH, I don't really think anyone cares about Chris's political views. A few people called him the worst chris in marvel, which come on, is true, but it's not like there's some widespread call to boycott him. It's just that a bunch of people rushed to his defense for something people should have forgotten about in 12 hours. It's similar to liberals to rushing to Nike's aid, when one guy on Twitter burned shoes. It's just over blowing the acts of a few people to prop up their entire half of the political spectrum. Speaking as someone fairly left leaning, I don't really care about Chris's political views. Even if he is a trump supporter, there are more pressing issues than 1 Republican vote in California, and it's not like he's using his massive platform to help trump anyway.

For some people, doing nothing when you have all the power Pratt has is immoral. If you’re a public figure, you’re expected to use your platform to help the world. Sometimes the bystander is just as bad as the bully. With the state of the world right now, it’s irresponsible to just do nothing. But hey, some men just what to watch the world burn.
There wasn't defense of those people when they were new to the MCU is because most of the actors already in the MCU haven't worked with them yet or just got to know them. In this case they've worked with Pratt in several movies and actually know the dude so they feel comfortable defending him. If you don't know someone personally you're probably not going to go out of your way to defend them over online bullying.
"What are your thoughts?" RE: Chris Pratt backlash - I think we need to take a step or two back from caring so much about what celebrities think or enjoy. I know that's trite, but beyond the whole "they're just actors, who cares?" angle, they're also just people. Let them be people. If they do something you don't like or spout opinions you find problematic, decide for yourself how that affects your opinion of them and your relationship to their work. There's obviously a huge range here, but we're also starting to lose track of that. Cancelling Roman Polanski because he's a child rapist who fled prosecution? Okay, I think we all understand that one. Cancelling Chris Pratt because he didn't vocally support Joe Biden, even though he hasn't vocally supported Trump either? Man, if he doesn't have a publicly-stated opinion, stop caring. Maybe he did vote for Trump; if he's not out shilling for the guy, then that's just him and his one vote. Let it go. RE: Marvel celebs and who they assemble to defend - I think it's easier for people to stand up for folks they know, have worked with, and have some sort of connection to in terms of their careers. The people standing up for Pratt have met him, been in movies with him, and in some cases are his actual friends. In a lot of cases where certain casting choices were met with fan backlash and the Avengers did not assemble, we're talking about people they've never met being cast in movies they aren't in. I doubt they felt the sting as closely. Should they have stood up for these people? Sure, ideally. But you're talking about strangers who work for the company you work for (which is huge). They're not these folks' union reps; they're people who worked on the same movie series. Maybe give them a break. Also realize that this sort of social media shieldwall is a fairly recent thing, as is the very concept of these people being a "team" in the public eye.
could not have put it better myself! I find it almost scary how people are so quick to condemn and demonize over pure conjecture and preconceived biases. It’s basically a modernized witch hunt!
I don't care about his political beliefs my interest is more about the church views about LGBTQIA people. The support for people you know thing is interesting as Phil mentioned Brie Larson and Anthony Mackie as people the rest of the Avengers were more than a little slow leaping to the defense of. Also we're comparing hardcore memeing and death threats and racist abuse soooooooo seems an unequal comparison
It's absurd to accuse people for standing up for Pratt but fail to condemn the witchhunty, dehumanizing aspect. And is the world better if we have a public that takes their political cues from preening celebrities or influencers? He should be free to be human, but that creates a tension with celebrities who don't want to be just human. There's a tension with celebrities who think appearing in Avengers justifies their crusades and messiah complex. If a celebrity or influencer is afforded the respect you should give any human, then that frees them but also undercuts their ability to ascend a soapbox and yell "I was in avengers. Believe in me.". Caring what celebrities think beyond just another opinion, isn't sober and thoughtful. If we worship showmen, you can't pretend to be surprised when one ascends the throne. People are talking about abating a symptom whilst participating in the underlying disease.

I wanna like this a million times. America just hates poor people.

We stole children from their parents. I can't get over that. So many children..

That shit makes me so angry. But sure, let's talk more about some famous idiot's opinion on this circus of an election.
Been happening for long time... It's like until Trump came into the office that people actually started to care! Love politics.

What a minute! You mean to tell me human beings assume things about people without facts!?

"What are your thoughts?"
RE: Chris Pratt backlash - I think we need to take a step or two back from caring so much about what celebrities think or enjoy.
Why d i es this not have more replies/ likes it’s amazing and I’d like to see a counter to this
could not have put it better myself! I find it almost scary how people are so quick to condemn and demonize over pure conjecture and preconceived biases. It’s basically a modernized witch hunt!
I love this so much
I don't care about his political beliefs my interest is more about the church views about LGBTQIA people.

People will say that's because of social media but the fact of the matter is that that's how humanity has always been, social media just made it more apparent to those that didn't recognize it before.
Not a world, but rather country. The same country that financed coups across South America, the only country to ever deploy nuclear bombs on human beings, among several other atrocities, is now incarcerating children and babies on the basis of their nationality, which in any other part of the world would be considered xenophobic violence instead of "border security". Teresa Howick Because then that person that you don’t want to talk to will assume you’re the opposite of whatever political belief they’ve been trying to talk about & will judge you for it. Saying ‘I’m not political’ is a polite way of getting out of that conversation.
"Cancel Chris" is a joke. Cancel culture is a joke. Nobody will remember this trend in a week.
Thank you! And the fact that it gets more attention than serious human rights abuses is disgusting to me
@@totagarboua8540 that's because tjat requires actual work and progress. Much easier to talk about problems people can get retweets about. I agree it's sad, it won't change.
Y’all need to learn there’s more to the criticism. He openly supports a homophobic church that until recently supported conversion therapy. He has flashed multiple actors with his genitals and occasionally just fully nude, sexually harassed a coworker on Parks and Rec, and has been accused of sexual assault on a child disney star. He divorced his first wife because she nearly died giving birth to their son, and while she was recovering from that experience he went out and allegedly impregnated another woman. It’s not just that he’s conservative, he’s just not a good person.
@@mysterylobster Great nothing I can do will change that and there are far worse problems to solve "y'all".
@@drdre4397 Believe it or not, people can focus on multiple issues at once, and just because something is minor doesn’t mean it’s not an issue. If you ask anyone who is criticising Pratt, none of them will tell you that this argument is more important than the 545 missing kids.
When he's listing big streamers aoc played with and misses toast :(
The straight disrespect from media on the guy who helped boost among us after soda got the train rolling...
@@OnePiece23463 toast is a nice and genuine guy you seem like you have some issues
@usucdik yeah he did and he was very welcoming and didn’t go too hard and Phil mentioned nearly everyone but him he listed like nearly 10 people
I don't care about US politics because I don't live in the US. I guess the question doesn't apply to me but it didn't seem to be aimed specifically at Americans.
"Being silent is a stance," is one of the stupidest things to come out of 2020. And everyone that's getting mad at Chris need to sit down and take a breath ffs.
It's because they where silent themselves about stuff for years and to make themselves feel better it's NOW become a crime to them to stay silent 😂 it's stupid for people who are supposed to be all loving people they have caused nothing but pure hate this year
Ok.... how did you watch a video about a president who SEPERATED CHILDREN FROM THEIR FAMILIES and still think that a) being silent ISN’T complacency in human rights abuse and b) that that’s the stupidest thing to come out of 2020? It’s like y’all pay attention to all the dumbest things istg
@Alec W you know speaking up doesn’t mean aligning yourself with a political party right ? So yeah, being silent is being complacent.
@@itslonda4157 Then god forbid i go to your social medias and find out that you did not post some generic template everyone posts when X tragedy/scandal/altercation etc. happened. Because you know what it would make you? Complacent. Besides, in this case "speaking up" would literally mean endorsing Biden, i.e. aligning oneself with a political party, so idk what you're talking about.

The whole "I don't care about politics" thing can sometimes feel like the safest response to give when you feel you'll be personally attacked for ANY position you take.
There are people with the mindset, “if you’re not with us you are against us.” These people would automatically label anyone who are silent or doesn’t care about politics as “against us.”
There is no safe response with unreasonable people.
Even then people will still probably attack you
I totally agree. I’m Libertarian and there’s things I disagree with on both ends. Its emotionally exhausting to know that there are people willing to tear you down and hurt you because you don’t 100% agree with them on everything. They won’t even talk it out with you calmly and have a civil conversation first. What’s worse is some of those people are people that you consider friends. Like can we maybe just judge people on their actions and how they treat others?
@@candygirl77777 you're too right on that fact. I've been in conversations with people where I'm afraid to say anything about my views, even if I agree with most of what they've been saying. I don't want to speak my opinion for fear of disagreeing with them on something, because of how aggressively they express their position
I’ve had people get angry at me for not picking any side. I can’t win
I saw AOC's stream, but I also would leave and jump around other streamers playing at the same time and they easily made up another 200K viewers from just the ones I watched.
How was chat? I expected it to be atrocious unless the mods really cracked down.
@@hankwicklund2182 honestly it seemed pretty chill for the most part. Either mods were super on top of it or people just didn't really care enough.
