I had to stop at the cancer drug story because I burst into tears. My father, who passed away from cancer a little over a year and 2 months ago was on that specific drug. Knowing that my father, who was on social security disability because of his cancer was getting prices on his cancer med hiked up for some ass to make a bonus makes me sick and disgusted. Up until my father died, my parents had very little money and making ends meet was often very hard. Knowing that this drug, that he had been on since at least 2017 only exacerbated that problem breaks my heart. I genuinely thank Katie Porter and the oversight committee for going after this relentlessly. Even though my father isn't here to see it, I know he'd be glad seeing that someone gives a shit about the little guy.
I hope you realize that the problem is that the drug is not open for market competition. Even if the company was price gouging, if there was competition (and there would be considering it's demand in the market) then it wouldn't matter because they wouldn't be able to sell at those insane prices. The problem is not the gouging itself (as disgusting as you may find it to be), it's the fact that something is preventing a market from emerging. Be it the patent time limits for rights holding and/or anti-competitive schemes that should not be legal due to them violating the rights of potential competitors. I'm really sorry for your loss and I hope the problem is fixed from its roots (which would affect all healthcare related business) and that putting a specific target on a specific drug or company is not the solution because that doesn't solve anything in the long term. I personally think price gouging should be legal to do BUT not if competition is not allowed to happen due to regulations or illegal anti-market schemes. Again, I'm really sorry for your loss and I hope this is solved properly. Putting one guy or company under supervision won't help anyone.
As a cancer patient that is currently on revlimid This is incredible and something that I have mentioned to anyone who will listen. The fact that inside the United States 21 pills of revlimid is 24,000, if I were outside the United States, the same drug is $400. Which is still price gouging, vice did a documentary on it and the raw materials cost $26/kilogram, my personal dosage is 10mg! That makes 100,000 doses /kilo. Just kills me! Literally!

In fact I feel like she wants the truth to speak for itself so strongly, all she does is present facts in a way that is not biased, so it’s incredibly difficult to argue with her. But I also don’t get the feeling she’s rigid or unapproachable. I’m not American so I have no horse in this race. I just happen to think she is one of the most genuine politicians and even person that America has to offer.

Do Americans not get fined for being registered but failing to actually show up or submit a vote? In Aus it’s not compulsory to register but once registered it is compulsory to at minimum show up on Election Day, marking your name off the electoral roll and receive voting forms. What you then do with them is your business ie not fill them in. If your name does not get marked off it’s $190 fine.

Like here in the EU we are automatically registered to vote once we turn 18, but it's not mandatory to vote even if you are registered (there can be exceptions to this).

Erica Lane I’m not sure what @atheen would say. But the benefit would not be for the world. It would be for Armenia. As Armenians we hope other countries step in to the situation to finally get our land recognized. Maybe even our genocide recognized and live in peace in such an unstable region.

In Artsakh, there are around 150,000 Armenians and if Azeris gain control over the region, they will do the same as Turks did in 1915, kill every single person. We aren't fighting for a piece of land, we are fighting for our culture, history, and most importantly people. While, Azeris are fighting for the land. That's the difference between us. You forgot to mention, that they brought 4000 Syrian mercenaries to the frontlines to fight for Azerbaijan. A common Azeri does not care about that land, because they know there is not a single Azeri to fight for in that region. Most importantly: why would a small 3mln country attack Azerbaijan, knowing well that they have the support of Turkey? If we already have the region, why would we attack yet again? It's absolutely heartbreaking to see what's going on in the Caucasus right now. I think it's important to note that Armenia's sole objective in the region is to protect the Armenian majority of Nagorno-Karabakh and to respect their wishes for self-determination. Considering that has been observed with relative stability over the past two decades, I'm incredibly doubtful that Armenia is the aggressor here. It's not lost on me that Azerbaijan is also dealing with a major economic crisis, with the price of their oil dropping exponentially in conjunction with the effects of the pandemic. The "president" of Azerbaijan's family has been clutching onto power for over thirty years, and he has been losing favorability among his people, so I would not be surprised if he escalated the conflict as a means to rally his people behind him again.

I have friends from Armenia and Armenian friends saying that they've been asking for peace and for journalist to come in to report on what is actually happening while Azerbaijan is withholding access to them and pushing out journalist, blocking access of their people to outside information, and making threats of genocide against Armenia. I wish journalists would just go to Armenia and report what is actually happening because Azerbaijan is trying to "finish what [their] father's failed to do" which is genocide. This is bad when one side is asking for peace and one is trying to take them out. You have to defend when someone is trying to invade your home and murder your family.

Azerbaijan was a country that was founded back in 1918, there is no thousands of years of conflict between them and Armenians because there was no Azerbaijan, there was the Caucasian Albania which didnt have any particular quarrel with Armenia or Nagorno-Karabakh which was always predominantly (if not 100%) Armenian. The conflict began when Joseph Salin gave the regions of Nagorno-Karabakh and Nakhichevan to Azerbaijan to make Turkey happy. Azerbaijan managed to ethnically cleanse the area of Nakhichevan of Armenians going so far as destroying any heritage that shows any historic Armenian presence in the region even to this day. Regarding Artzakh, however, the area was still populated by 99% Armenians even up to 1991 where the region decided to hold a referendum and with an 82.5% voter turnout and 92% of the vote, the people of Artsakh decided they want their independence. Artsakh won the war for independence (backed by Armenia) despite the odds being heavily stacked in Azerbaijan's favour (considering Turkey heavily backed them up and most of the USSR arsenals found in the region were placed in Azerbaijan because of their valuable oil reserves). Now considering the history, and with the Armenians having gotten what they wanted and the status quo favouring them, is it really fair to assume they would start a war and disrupt the status quo? With Turkey being so vocal about supporting Azerbaijan, does it seem reasonable for the Republic of Armenia (with a population of 3 million people) and Artsakh (with a population of about 200,000 people) to go to war against Azerbaijan (with of a population of 10 million people) backed by Turkey (who has given Azerbaijan full military support even going as far as to amass an army in Nakhichevan, who also has a population of 80 million)? This is all a ploy by the Azeri dictator to try and keep his seat of power regardless of how much blood will be lost, and a way for Erdogan to try and advance his "Pan-Turkist" ideas.

Well a typical cookie recipe has about 2/3 the amount of sugar (not including chocolate chips) compared to the amount of flour. To me, that's fine because it's a cookie and it's supposed to be sweet! As long as they're eaten in moderation, then I don't see the problem. @@tealablu3759 not particularly shocking, azerbaijan and turkey are basically brother countries so they would always come to their aid. It is also worth noting that Turkey and a lot of Turks see what happened to Armenians in WW1 a lot differently to the rest of the world. A lot of Turks don't think a proper investigation happened or it has been unfairly labelled since genocide wasn't a term used back then, it is unnecessarily assaulting Turkish reputation for something that plenty of countries did some variant of. Also many Turks argue that it wasnt one sided and that it was a war where Armenians were slaughtered and that the Armenians created a lot of trouble for Turks. Historically, Armenians have been a thorn in the sides of the Ottomans when they tried to extend an olive branch, the Armenians took advantage of it by playing for more power. I cant quite remember the context but i remember reading about the state of the ottoman empire As a Turk, i'm generally taught to see Armenians and Greeks in particular in disdain but seeing past that is what will cause growth on both sides. Turks feel cornered on all sides from large looming threats and on the losing end of a culture war against Islam. So Turkey feels the need to defend its allies. If there were a bit more tolerance on both sides, we would see less of this.

Susie McKeon she’s very to the point. I understand what she’s saying and why she’s saying. I don’t feel like she’s bullshitting or trying to use sneaky tactics. In fact I feel like she wants the truth to speak for itself so strongly, all she does is present facts in a way that is not biased, so it’s incredibly difficult to argue with her.
But I also don’t get the feeling she’s rigid or unapproachable. I’m not American so I have no horse in this race. I just happen to think she is one of the most genuine politicians and even person that America has to offer.
She was a law professor and wrote the textbook Modern Consumer Law prior to running for Congress so, yeah, major teacher vibes. In another epic moment last year, she schooled the Director of the CFPB when she pulled out the textbook she wrote during her questioning.

Do Americans not get fined for being registered but failing to actually show up or submit a vote? In Aus it’s not compulsory to register but once registered it is compulsory to at minimum show up on Election Day, marking your name off the electoral roll and receive voting forms. What you then do with them is your business ie not fill them in. If your name does not get marked off it’s $190 fine.

Like here in the EU we are automatically registered to vote once we turn 18, but it's not mandatory to vote even if you are registered (there can be exceptions to this).

In Artsakh, there are around 150,000 Armenians and if Azeris gain control over the region, they will do the same as Turks did in 1915, kill every single person. We aren't fighting for a piece of land, we are fighting for our culture, history, and most importantly people. While, Azeris are fighting for the land. That's the difference between us. You forgot to mention, that they brought 4000 Syrian mercenaries to the frontlines to fight for Azerbaijan. A common Azeri does not care about that land, because they know there is not a single Azeri to fight for in that region.
Most importantly: why would a small 3mln country attack Azerbaijan, knowing well that they have the support of Turkey? If we already have the region, why would we attack yet again? There is no logic to their claims.

It's absolutely heartbreaking to see what's going on in the Caucasus right now. I think it's important to note that Armenia's sole objective in the region is to protect the Armenian majority of Nagorno-Karabakh and to respect their wishes for self-determination. Considering that has been observed with relative stability over the past two decades, I'm incredibly doubtful that Armenia is the aggressor here. It's not lost on me that Azerbaijan is also dealing with a major economic crisis, with the price of their oil dropping exponentially in conjunction with the effects of the pandemic. The "president" of Azerbaijan's family has been clutching onto power for over thirty years, and he has been losing favorability among his people, so I would not be surprised if he escalated the conflict as a means to rally his people behind him again.

I have friends from Armenia and Armenian friends saying that they've been asking for peace and for journalist to come in to report on what is actually happening while Azerbaijan is withholding access to them and pushing out journalist, blocking access of their people to outside information, and making threats of genocide against Armenia. I wish journalists would just go to Armenia and report what is actually happening because Azerbaijan is trying to "finish what [their] father's failed to do" which is genocide. This is bad when one side is asking for peace and one is trying to take them out. You have to defend when someone is trying to invade your home and murder your family.
True you have to defend when idiots in your land think they have some ancient right to live there and push out the rightful government and people. Just tell the armanians to give up their rule and live amongst the Azerbaijani or just go to armania. Btw your statements are so full of bullshit when Palestinians defend themselves and fight for their land you call that terrorism why the armanians? It’s really sad. I’m Armenian American, and this is all any of my church friends are talking about, and Armenians have like no control over the narrative. Peaceful Armenian protestors in Boston were pushed out by Azeris and one person was injured on the way to his car. They also make the “quiet coyote” sign (that one from elementary school when they’re trying to quiet everyone down), which is a symbol for Grey Wolf, who are Turkish nationalist extremists. They really do want to silence us all

Azerbaijan was a country that was founded back in 1918, there is no thousands of years of conflict between them and Armenians because there was no Azerbaijan, there was the Caucasian Albania which didnt have any particular quarrel with Armenia or Nagorno-Karabakh which was always predominantly (if not 100%) Armenian. The conflict began when Joseph Salin gave the regions of Nagorno-Karabakh and Nakhichevan to Azerbaijan to make Turkey happy. Azerbaijan managed to ethnically cleanse the area of Nakhichevan of Armenians going so far as destroying any heritage that shows any historic Armenian presence in the region even to this day. Regarding Artzakh, however, the area was still populated by 99% Armenians even up to 1991 where the region decided to hold a referendum and with an 82.5% voter turnout and 92% of the vote, the people of Artsakh decided they want their independence. Artsakh won the war for independence (backed by Armenia) despite the odds being heavily stacked in Azerbaijan's favour (considering Turkey heavily backed them up and most of the USSR arsenals found in the region were placed in Azerbaijan because of their valuable oil reserves). Now considering the history, and with the Armenians having gotten what they wanted and the status quo favouring them, is it really fair to assume they would start a war and disrupt the status quo? With Turkey being so vocal about supporting Azerbaijan, does it seem reasonable for the Republic of Armenia (with a population of 3 million people) and Artsakh (with a population of about 200,000 people) to go to war against Azerbaijan (with of a population of 10 million people) backed by Turkey (who has given Azerbaijan full military support even going as far as to amass an army in Nakhichevan, who also has a population of 80 million)? This is all a ploy by the Azeri dictator to try and keep his seat of power regardless of how much blood will be lost, and a way for Erdogan to try and advance his "Pan-Turkist" ideas.

Well a typical cookie recipe has about 2/3 the amount of sugar (not including chocolate chips) compared to the amount of flour. To me, that's fine because it's a cookie and it's supposed to be sweet! As long as they're eaten in moderation, then I don't see the problem. Also, if you serve someone something you call a cookie and it's only as sweet as Subway bread, you might get punched in the face 🤣

@@tealablu3759 not particularly shocking, azerbaijan and turkey are basically brother countries so they would always come to their aid.
It is also worth noting that Turkey and a lot of Turks see what happened to Armenians in WW1 a lot differently to the rest of the world. A lot of Turks don't think a proper investigation happened or it has been unfairly labelled since genocide wasn't a term used back then, it is unnecessarily assaulting Turkish reputation for something that plenty of countries did some variant of. Also many Turks argue that it wasnt one sided and that it was a war where Armenians were slaughtered and that the Armenians created a lot of trouble for Turks.
Historically, Armenians have been a thorn in the sides of the Ottomans when they tried to extend an olive branch, the Armenians took advantage of it by playing for more power. I cant quite remember the context but i remember reading about the state of the ottoman empire
As a Turk, i'm generally taught to see Armenians and Greeks in particular in disdain but seeing past that is what will cause growth on both sides. Turks feel cornered on all sides from large looming threats and on the losing end of a culture war against Islam. So Turkey feels the need to defend its allies. If there were a bit more tolerance on both sides, we would see less of this.
