    Nice! I like the progression style with the experimentation; gives a nice picture of the techniques and results.

    U can run to the craft store like Michael's or Joan Fabric and get raffia..soak it like sphagnum moss, ring it out and get fibers untangled then use that to wrap it will aid in fusing and bending...I'm sure u know this by now I just figured I'd add my 2 cents of knowledge

      I like that idea! I actually switched to that white plumber's tape and that's been working pretty decent lately. I have like 20 other smaller fusion projects in addition to this one and I switched to the plumber's tape on all of them.

    Have you seen the black tape that sticks to itself, not to anything else? One side has a plastic strip and it is very elastic. May be a plumbing tape.

      I haven't but I'll look for that

      Thanks Nigel! I just found one of your videos on ariel roots so that's going to be my next area of focus.

      It almost looks like a mini version of Franken Ficus before the top froze off and you had to plant a new top on it.

      Fusing well! Great tip about the floral tape! 👍

    You need to scrape the bark at the meeting areas and tie it tightly to fuse better.

    • @BonsaiBoise
      @BonsaiBoise  3 роки тому +1

      I tried that on one a few years ago and they all died. I probably scraped too much but I've been a little gun shy since then.

      @@BonsaiBoise just need to scrape only superficially so that the cambium is alive and will heal in to one unit after you tie it together.

    The tree looks healthy and vigourous so I would think it is gonna fuse nicely in future.

    saw a video where a guy used electrical tape but put the sticky side on the outside. worked well.

    • @BonsaiBoise
      @BonsaiBoise  3 роки тому +1

      Oh nice! I do like the stretchy aspect of electrical tape this this, but the stickiness was hard to work with.

    I like this experiment, glad that i found this as i am about to start mine as well from 3 air layers...i wonder if putting the tree in a larger pot, maybe a grow basket will speedup growth and with that speed up fusion...also was thinking that i will try to score the bark off to the cambium to the points that the trunk meet just to promote binding faster...will try to use raffia as alternative to tape...let's see...lot to do with experimenting :) and i believe there are plenty of ways to reach the same objective

      Revealing the Cambium certainly helps. I fused my 15 year old tree by scraping of the bark and tieing it with cloth. I didn´t fuse on it´s own before eventhrough the trunks were super tight.

    Sorry, Might have a been a little slow to getting around to watching this hahah but its looking good, its definitely getting there. I found mine too a while to get going too, now its fusing pretty well. I think you start to see some real good changes in the next year!

      Thanks! And yes, it has just recently started to really take off. I've basically let it grow semi-unchecked in the greenhouse. It's got aerial roots popping out all over the place now.

    The yellowing leaves is from excess moisture right?

    • @BonsaiBoise
      @BonsaiBoise  3 роки тому

      Yeah, usually that's the case in my experience. I've also heard that some plants & trees will detox all their toxins to a particular leaf and then drop the leaf.

    Hey man I just translated my wheeping bonsai clipping I had it growing great in the water n put it in a pot w rocks at bottom and gave it a good drink and now the limbs are wilted and looks like it’s dieing rapidly

    • @BonsaiBoise

      Hard for me to say but my instinct says to put it in the shade, and more water. Willows love love love water. Then give it time to die off and bounce back. Willows also love to die off on branches here and there.
