- I'm back pruning up three Trees, the same Ficus bonsai that I worked on Just over a year ago.
The three trees are my Fiddle leaf Fig (Ficus lyrata), my Banyan Fig (Ficus benghalensis) and my Indian Rubber tree (Ficus elastica).

Nice trims! Love the dark leaves on that rubber tree!
Sangat menyenangkan cara membonsainya saudaraku 👍
Lol sneaky tree stealing water from another pot. You have inspired me, I'm going to try the rubber tree as a bonsai.
Enjoyed video of small bonsai pruning. Thanks a lot
Nigel you are not the only one with big dreams and small space)))
Thank you for the video! ✨
You're so welcome!
I love your hair!!❤❤❤❤❤
good job!
👍👌👌
Very nice
Ive never seen that many buds a fiddle leaf fig before. If all of them end up developing you could have something interesting. Nigel doing the impossible, making a fiddle leaf fig bonsai. Mine is 6 feet tall with ONE branch so, having that many buds is exciting!
Great work on the trees. Hopefully the storm will pass you by. Watch your back shoveling. Slow but steady.
There is something special about ficus that appeals. Those are pretty large leaved ones and I really enjoy the challenge you taken to make em bonsai. Fiddle fig is not only having huge leaves but also a very unique rough bark and growth on the trunk and branches (also happy it recovered from the cold cellar).
Without the leaves I thought the rubber tree looked a bit like a coral. Quite colorful, too. All three (four) trees looks nice!
The small rubber tree looks really cool! Love that. 🌳😍 And it saves space which is scarce for you and many others, too, I suppose. I would not mind if you create more small trees 😉
Would be fun to try growing a root bridge from one pot to another with these ficus
Fun until it destroys your pot
March. If it comes in like a lion, it goes out like a lamb. If it comes in like a lamb, it goes out like a lion. Better the worse now and an ease at the end for spring.
Like and thank you.
How'd that storm end up treating you? It wasn't so bad as it went through here, we got about 4". Now it's all melting already today lol... c'mon spring!! 🌱
THANKS Nigel!
Video coming tonight!!
First!
Might get difficult with these big leaves... looks good defoliated.

Thank you very much for sharing sir
I was wondering how you care for your ficus that you are doing these massive prunes in winter. You mention a plantroom. I guess I can find a video somewhere on the channel on this!
I might try one of those big leaf varieties one day. I just got my first carica.
It's something different and a bit of a challenge too!!
And I found a really good way to water my fices tree they way I water it . I put it in a container with water when the soil drys out it seems to really like that because it's growing like crazy
I have a young Elastica, so I'm really looking forward to seeing how much roots your planting has. I just broke the dormancy of my indoor plants this week by giving them a little dosage of mild fertilizer.
With the first two, I found it interesting that new branches seem to grow directly under other branches.
The third was interesting because all the leaves were facing the same direction. I'm guessing it wasn't rotated much? Which then makes me think, if left alone the branches would probably grow that direction as well, creating a windswept.
I have a potentilla fruticosa in the garden which I have placed very close to larger plants and it got sunlight only from one side. All branches developed only in the direction to the sunlight. Looks really windswept. This year I will use this approach with other trees, too.
Great flashback editing. I am slightly jealous of all the space you seem to have for recording and having a nice setup. Do you have a video on your setup & equipment you use?
These trees are looking great, particularly the rubber tree group. Thanks for the great video Nigel!
I wish you could do a pant tour videos of my tree's and plants but I'm from upstate New York
The Banyan tree we call it here “Grandpa”, cause it has lots of aerial roots like a matured man’s beard & it also takes care of us by providing shade/an umbrella in rains/lots of space for birds to nest/providing them fruits to eat😂
Think twice, cut once. 😊🌴
That is the secret!!
You could fuse the bengals.

We had a TON of snow from that storm. Our little puppy about got lost in the snow
And I finally bought a fices but it's a crafted one and I'm going to make some more video's on it and it want dormant for like a week or 2 when I bought it but it got used to the temperature and cilment in my room and now it's growing like crazy
I have a 6 year old bengalensis and I have managed to reduce the leaf size just under an inch. Now I'm thinking I'll turn it into a shohin.
Wow, that's sounds so cool!!! Great work!
@@TheBonsaiZone I'm so excited to see yours and learn from you!!
Any updates on the FLF for May of 2024?!?!? You are literally the only person I found doing what I'm
Trying to do 😅😅😅
The Ficus is doing well, it's becoming one of my favorite trees, an update will be coming!!
@@TheBonsaiZone FANTASTIC! Cant wait
I was wondering what happened to your Banyan tree. I too have a Banyan tree which was almost as long as yours and to cut it back and put the cutting in the soil. Hope they will root in the coming month. Banyan develops aerial roots similar to ropes. Monsoon in India helps a lot in the process. My Banyan had about 2 to 3 feet of these aerial roots which I had to cut.
Hoping to grow the Banyan tree in a similar fashion as yours. 😀
Have you done a Ribes current bonsai
Foist
I notice that if ficus plast well cut the early grow it will not decided they grow single branch
that hair...:P
Bengalensis is the real BANAYAN TREE in this whole world. Its called banayan by colonial looter rulers because BANIYÃ people/traders were used to seat under these gigantic trees to sell stuffs n DO trade. WHOLE MARKETS WERE SET in under bargat in ANCIENT TIMES IN INDIA. In our hindi language it is called BARGAT.
how long are you going to be gone to Scots place
Have you bonsai a kalanchoe
