For anyone interested- Farmertec offers a high output 460 pump for cheap and it works well. It is also a good upgrade for the ms361 which has an anemic oil pump.
i enjoy watching others work on stihl saws i learn a good deal that way. i hope u and the missus have a blessed thanksgiving too
Thanks for showing the fix for this problem.
Keep ‘em comin buddy👍🏻
Definitely got to give you a big credit on that editing. That had to be fairly tough getting the two characters together on that I'm really impressed. Also a little tip when installing your snap rings on those clutches try using the closed end of a scrench and push it on that way will help keep the clip from escaping. I know you didn't have any trouble in the video and sometimes I don't either, but I have found that this works very well. Just wanted to pass it along.
Cool characters! Great to get fixit parts and info from yur buds. Bodie ‘s yur uncle !
You should definitely see a difference with the new oiler. Have a Happy Thanksgiving !
First minute of the video and I'm like "thaaaaam nice editing and effects"
DB is back!!
Definitely an easier swap than some!
Dude ! I don't know how you do it but the way you do that 2 characters on the same screen is pretty cool
Editing is amazing. I can barely create special effects, and it is still so cool the things we can do. Thank you for noticing. I think the special effects and Editing teams for the super hero movies should get far more praise. They are creating different universes!
With a lot of the new saws it's not just the oilers.. even the damn tank is too small. Get the oiler tweaked and you are risking running out of oil before you run out of gas..
You mentioned the Torx thing. Stihls greatest feature. I got spoiled with it on two of my echoes too.
Then I got that 501p and about shjt a brick when I discovered everything on it was allen/hex. Only thing about that saw, so far, that pisses me right off.
You got the shaggy walk for DB…😂
Did the same upgrade on mine last month. Seems to get more oil than needed now, but that’s ok. Thing oils like a vintage McCulloch 10-10 now!
They say the ladies love the "drip"
All manafactors are good some have better models than others
The 462 and 661 is the same way. I'm modding the oiler on the 661c I ported. They pretty easy tho. Just a pin to knock in. But idk why they even put the pin in, I guess to sell bars and chains lol.
It’s for oil sling off and epa regulations. That’s why the pin is there still makes it compliant for sale but also makes it easy to get more flow. Not to sell you bars.
I’m 1.5 tanks into this saw and it does seems stingy on the oil. Im running a 25 and don’t want to futz while it’s under warranty.
👍s🆙Big Guy!
great video!
could you post a link for the HO oiler?
I did a search and came up empty.
thanks!
Likely not Stihl's fault, EPA dictates stuff like that. Usually Stihl has an oiler upgrade.
I got a homelite 1050 auto with a fat 34 inch bar that will throw oil 6 feet off the bar if it idles for a minute but most of my saws just oil enough I mill small stuff with my McCulloch 610 because it oils so well with a 24 inch bar with a good hand oiler to help if you need it all pro saws should have hand Oilers to go with the automatic oiler but that's not coming back I think their might be 2 saws left that offer it echo and husqvarna not sure which ones thay are
I just got a ported 261 and it is pretty sweet. Only one problem I run a 20inch bar and the oiler can’t keep up with the longer bar and high revving. Do you know all what can be done fix my problem. I couldn’t find much online.
If your oiler cannot keep up with a 20" bar, there is a problem. I don't care how powerful your saw is, a 261 should oil a 20" bar without issues. I would be looking into a new oiler or something. But that's the best I can give you. I don't know much about the 261.
What size socket fits the clutch? You didn't have to use a piston stop? Is there a certain impact driver that works better than others?
I think it's 19mm or 3/4". I usually put a glove on and grab the flywheel by the fins (gently). leave the spark plug in
@@marcustraber thanks
You can also use nylon rope tied in several knots instead of a piston stop so you don't worry about damaging the piston... just put upgraded oiler on ms 880 a month ago and worked like a charm
Yeah, 19mm. With this saw, it has enough compression to resist the impact gun turning the crankshaft. No need to use a piston stop. Any high torque impact gun should work fine.
@@novicelumberjack thank you
does gary have a youtube i tried to look to could not find it, that into was so good bro
No, he isn't on UA-cam.
@@novicelumberjack 10-4 thanks man, hope u and the fam have a great and safe thanksgiving, gobble gobble 😂😂😎😎😊😊
If i want a full wrap handle am i gonna gave to go a stihl dealer? I see these off brand ones when i search the googles but i dont wanna buy some bullshit that dont fit
If you have a ms400c you will need a ms362 wrap kit for about 225-250$ with a clutch cover, handle and assorted mounting hardware. Haven’t started to sell a 400 as an r version yet that I know of. 400 is based off the ms362 so that’s why the handle will fit. Lots of Stihl dealers don’t have a clue on this so don’t be surprised if they say they can’t buy a wrap for the 400 because it’s not listed.
Stihl isn’t really any harder than any other saw it’s just more on what you’re used to. A t-540 husky is one of the toughest saws to work on. And new huskies aren’t any better to work on definitively not like an old 2 series husky or jonsred.
You know when opening the clutch this way, the whole force goes onto the starter. You'll kill it one day. Better remove the spark plug and block the piston.
Ya know... you are absolutely, totally, and undoubtedly, 100% incorrect. You are literally, exactly backwards. Annnndddd, while if this was pretty much any other saw, you'd be on the right track, because when you put it all back together...THAT is when pressure is going against the starter, but... this is a Stihl. And on a Sihl, the starter pawls only engage when the rope is pulled. So, I hope I gave you something to think about.
The bigger Stihl saws aren't as hard to work on as the little ones.
A lot harder than Husqvarna tho
@@alexstromberg7696 I guess.
People run stihls for the longevity
I don't know man...that statement seems like exactly what the Stihl marketing team wants you to say. As a whole, I see ZERO difference in longevity between Stihl, Husqvarna, Jonsered, Domar, Solo, Echo, Efco, Redmax, Shindaiwa, Tanaka...etc. Sure, different brands have different models that shine and models that suck. But as a whole, all the good ones last well. I've had 40 year old saws from every brand. They all last well. I've had Stihls that were trash, and I've had Huskies that were too. Stihl just has better marketing that got to more folks back in the day, and those same people have passed along their biases to the following generations. At least, that's my opinion.
