That's awesome I'm glad I was able to help you! In the next two weeks or so I should have a video coming out on how to install a K&N performance air filter. Just waiting on some parts to show up.
Nice vid mate straight to the point. I noted you had the torque on the little filter cover bolts at 60lb and drain plug at 16lb is that correct? Thanks
About to purchase this bike(suzuki gs 2009), it will be my first, it has 26k miles the seller is selling it for 2.4k. Is this a good choice to buy ? I don’t really know about bikes. Thank you
Hey Turbo, In short the GS500 is a great bike for a beginner for a couple of reasons. 1. Light weight for a street bike. About 400lbs. 2. Low seat so you can flat foot when not moving. 3. Cheap insurance. 4. Good Fuel economy. I get 45mpg combined. 5. Easy to maintain (air cooled). 6. Decent power easy to manage. 0-60 mph in the 5 second range. I do think that your seller is asking a little too much tho. I got my bike for $2,000 and it only has 7k miles on it. so you can probably talk him down a little. Also check on this video it could have some useful information for you: ua-cam.com/video/_LXn_nTddTM/v-deo.html Hope this helps!
Would have been complete if you had shown How to measure oil. Do you thread cap back in and then out to determine how full crankcase is? Do you just measure without threading stick back in? What weight of oil should be used?

60 INCH lbs not ft lbs. Hardly any. Basically 5 ft lbs
Just a quick question. How often do you change your oil? Also do you change your oil filter every time you do an oil change or do you wait?
I change my oil at least every 3000 miles and I also change my filter every time.
Splendid vid, great help
Thanks. It was a great help.
Hola amigo! the oil is Valvoline 10w40? Great video thanks!!
Yep that's right. 10w40 synthetic motorcycle oil
@@WidgeTheWiz I'm using the exact same oil. Did the bikes wet clutch perform ok with the synthetic oil? And did you notice any leaks after?
@@dustindoornek3630 It worked perfectly for me no issues.

@@WidgeTheWiz my insurance on my 01 gs is 15% more than for my Z800
@@bruderrudiger9574 Interesting I would not have expected that.
@@WidgeTheWiz Me neither but I believe it s because they are crashed more often. I m from germany so it can be different in the US
Hey mate great vid, just wondering where you purchased a oil filter and oring from. Thanks

liked watching this
Well done mate👍
Hello i have a question should i change the gasket everytime i do an oil change
Yes you should. The new oil filter you get should come with it.
i see that you have PAIR block off plates on cylinder head...Was it a pain in the arse to remove all that ? bike runs better without it ?
Honestly, I can't say. I don't have the bike anymore and if they were there they were put on by the previous owner. Was a fun bike though!
Gracias por la ayuda saludos
How often u recommend to change it?
Every 3000 - 4000 miles
@@WidgeTheWiz ok is 19,000 miles a lot for these bikes ? I got the same bike it runs pretty good besides it ticking a lot
@@troyholland3436 I feel that is getting up there in mileage. But as long as the maintenance schedules are followed you should be okay.
@@WidgeTheWiz my bike runs pretty good besides it ticking is that normal for these bikes ?
@@troyholland3436 lmao no mine has 160k
I was hoping I didn't have to pull the exhaust off. Good to know I don't... Thank you.
Yeah happy I could help!
Easy peasy..
What is the name and type of the oil filter pls
The Oil filter is made by K&N and the model number is KN-133.
@@WidgeTheWiz Thanks bro 🙏
You forgot to violently rev the bike to 14k rpm after draining the oil to make sure the rest comes out. Good tutorial though
Hey. How much is 16 Ft/lbs to Nm? And how much is 60 INCH/lbs to Nm? This american measurements is terrible
If you type that into Google, you'll get your answers.
Do you want to sell this gs500 bike
