I don't always dance with the dead in my dreams, but when I do, I listen to their hallowed screams.

You should always do it, but then again it gets annoying after a while. The dead don't dance very well and you get all tired. And then the screaming kind of gets on your nerves.

@@burningbelow4424Show no mercy is terrible. the drums sound like someone hitting a biscuit tin over and over like a speed freak. I had it on vinyl and skimmed it off a bridge into the canal. It was the one with haunting the chapel and the best track was chemical warfare.

I was into Metallica, Megadeth and Anthrax already. Slayer was the “scary” and “Satanic" band. The most bad ass kids in school, the ones with the creepy sunken eyes, were the ones with the Slayer t-shirts. Then I started listening to Monday Night Mayhem, on WSOU, the radio station of Seton Hall University in NJ. They played the craziest thrash and early black metal bands. I’d be in bed at 1AM, with my crappy headphones attached to my crappier red Radio Shack boombox, getting chills from listening to insane Slayer riffs.
The rest of my life has been spent screaming SLAYER!!!!! at my frieneds from across busy streets.

I'm 50yrs old, I've been to 37 Slayer concerts, across 26 states, and 3 different countries. I witnessed(and felt), the Raining(stage) Blood, caught(or found on the floor) 19 guitar picks(Jeff, Kerry, Tom), caught 2 drum stick(1 Dave, 1 Paul). I even trash dug a faulty mic cord that Tom threw away backstage. I still own the concert t-shirt that my cousin bought me, at my first slayer show(I was 11 years old). I have countless other concert T's, jacket patches, and even multiple inlay cards for cassette tapes. I couldn't bring myself to throw them away, when I, bought a new album, because the old one wore out. Multiple Slayer tattoos are all over my body. I even got to meet them, and BS with them(pre-Bostaph) multiple times. Or at least what a fan would consider "BS-ing"with their favorite band of all time.
Every single time I hear Slayer… I still get wicked excited, and feel just as motivated by their music, as I did the first time I heard them.
Hell... I even learned to play drums, because I considered Dave Lombardo the God Of Thunder, and I wanted nothing more than to be just like him(no offense to Paul Bostaph).
    🤘💀🤘

I saw SLAYER live in 2010 at Sonisphere in Finland and got an entirely different respect for them than I had before that concert, old men still playing like they were 20!
Also when they came on stage the sky turned gray and Arya cracked a joke that this always happens at their gigs, then when they started Raining blood it started raining sideways and storming so heavily that some of the restaurant tents fell apart. That moment is ingrained in my head as one of the most memorable things in my life, and made Slayer one of my favorite bands of all time!

I was there too. Fortunately they just got to play their whole set to the end before the damn storm really hit and almost all the rest shows of the evening had to be cancelled due to it. I remember hearing the loud thunder thru Slayer's playing and thinking if it was an actual thunder or was it some backing track. During the show I concluded it had to be the latter, but eventually stood corrected in the middle of the fucking field with 2 of my friends barely able to breath in strongest storm-wind I've ever seen before or since 😂

Glad you are diggin SLAYER ! To me, they have always been the big "1". NO pretense, no b.s., in your face aggression at it's best. They influenced and directed the course of metal more than maybe any band in history, other possible challengers would be motorhead and well, that's about it. The panning between guitar solos as you put it, is the two different guitarist in the band playing solos. I've seen SLAYER play live many many times and am sure that they are the greatest live band ever. The interaction between the band and the crowd and just the intense feeling and aggression in the crowd is unmatched. Long live SLAYER AND RIP JEFF........

Singer Tom Araya, of Chilean descent, was raised a Catholic. Of the lyricism he explains 'They're just words to me, I don't live by them'. Kerry is an angry atheist who writes most of the lyrics but Tom is a kind gentle soul 😅 Kerry wasn't IN Megadeth as such he just played on a few songs. Jeff wrote the most notable songs like Angel Of Death but sadly died in 2013. Dave is regarded one of the best thrash drummers in the business. Amazing band with a vast catalogue. Their original lineup was Dave Lombardo on drums Tom Araya on bass / vocals. Jeff hanneman lead / Rhythm guitar who would always be in your left speaker and on stage left. And Kerry King lead / rhythm guitar who would always be in your right speaker and on stage right. They always mixed it that way so you could always tell when they're trading off one playing solo while the other plays Rhythm back and forth and then both playing rhythm together. Great song selections, excellent video. Saw them first live in 1985 last in 2019, many times in between:)

This album was brutal to learn and play. Talk about feeling like your forearm is on fire…Even though I was used to extended duration fast riffs, this album just ramped it up to another level. It literally hurt to play until I built the stamina up to be able to play it start to finish without having to pause in the middle of songs.

It would be worth your time if you did a whole album reaction for Hell Awaits, with all songs in the original recording version. It's my favorite Slayer album, and it sounds more dark and evil then many black metal bands that came after it, while Slayer isn't even a black metal band of course. I was into punk and thrash before, but hearing Slayer's SOUTH OF HEAVEN in 1988 (junior high school) rocked my world. That transition into Silent Scream!!!! Those drums!!!! Seen them live many times. I'm actually in a crowd photo in their live album DECADE OF AGGRESSION which was recorded during the "Clash of the Titans" tour in 1991, in Lakeland Florida (touring with Anthrax and Megadeth). Love them and love seeing people react to them.
My BIG 5 (for thrash) would be Slayer, D.R.I., Sepultura, Pantera, and Vio-Lence. D.R.I.'s 1988 album FOUR OF A KIND also shook me.

I've saw Salyer multiple times over the years. Sorry, no pics as we didn't have cell phones for those events. We were so much in the moment of the show and the pit, even if we had phones, I don't think too many pics would have been taken. Amazing live shows.

Imagine being a 13 year old me in 1983-84 during the birth of Bay Area thrash Slayer, Megadeth, Metallica, Exodus, Testament and NYC area Anthrax, Overkill, S.O.D. This was life changing. Thankfully I was able to see the Yankee Stadium Big 4 show. Dive into Exodus Bonded by Blood, Testament alone in the Dark. I could keep going. Love the reaction, subscribed!

To take away the spooky intrigue of Slayer, the band were a bunch of D&D nerds that binged the film Dragon Slayer (1981). The band got their name from that film.

Yes, that is the beauty of that song. I don't know why but Slayer give me chills when I lessen to them and you lessening to if for the first time. Saw them first time at the Felt Forum back in 1988. It was one of the sickest concerts I ever saw. Three mosh pits and tour up the seats. Just Crazy.

My first time seeing slayer was when I was 13 on their clash of the titans tour with megadeth, anthrax and alice in chains as the opener. My cousin took me to that show. Jeff Hanneman was the reason i picked up a guitar 31 years ago. Probably have seen them a total of 15 times from 1990 until they retired in 2019. Now my favorite live band is Lamb of God.

-In high school, a girl in my class gave me grief for listening to Megadeth and talk about it being satanic. We were in Chicago for Mock Trial Nationals. I was listening to “Angel of Death” when she asked me what I was listening to. After I told her, she asked “Can I listen?” Not being sure considering her thought about Megadeth, I asked her if she really wanted. After she said that she did, I handed her my headphones and rewinded the tape.I asked her,”Are you sure?” After she said yes, I pressed “Play”(Yes, I had a Walkman. I know. I’m old.)and waited. Her eyes got big and she had a huge smile on her face.
-For South of Heaven, look up Bill McClintock, who does mashup videos. He did one with South of Heaven with the vocals for Edwin Starr’s “War.” Such a perfect combination and made me actually think “Wait, you can actually dance to Slayer?”
-For concerts, they’ll switch up the song that “South of Heaven” transitions into. On their Decade of Aggression live album, they did it with “Raining Blood”, which then transitioned into “Black Magic.”
-If you’re looking for songs where one song transitions into another one, look for “Into The Lungs Of Hell”/“Set The World On Fire” by Megadeth.
-The riff you mentioned in Silent Scream is a riff that has appeared in some fashion in multiple songs like “Raining Blood”, “Silent Scream”’ “Spill The Blood”, “Dead Skin Mask, and “213.”
-Seasons in the Abyss is my favorite album by them. While there is some thrash/speed with “War Ensemble”, it has a lot slower but harder feel like South of Heaven. Give the title track a listen to. Jeff Hanneman’s solo is one of my favorites.
-My favorite period is South of Heaven to Divine Intervention. Three really good albums with a great mix of heavy and thrash.

Slayer shows can only be described as "INTENSE" My suggestion for a reaction would be Madatory suicide. It has one of the best riffs ever. Its impossible to keep your head still. Headbanging is NOT something you learn how to do, its letting yourself join the music.
    P.S. I'm 58 and still a metal head.
P.S.S. if you look closely at the album art, you can see depictions of every song on the album. Cool huh?!
    🤘😝 F**kin SLAYER!!!

My cousin hated them for the longest time but after i took him to one of their shows he was very impressed on how well they were in concert. It was one of the best concerts i've ever been to.

I wasn't there for a show they rained blood on the stage but I was at a show where this was the last song of the set and 5 minutes later a downburst caused massive rain and wind destroying basically all equipment at the festival. Iggy Pop and Mötley Crue couldn't play and Alice Cooper and Iron Maiden had to play on a damaged stage with loan gear 3 hours late.
