I will never forget when this came out. My best friends told me to come over as they had a new stack of LPs to play. I walked into the morgue, friend finishing makeup on a cadaver, this was the first album he played. Great memories.

When my generation was growing up in the 80's we took a certain pride in the fact that our music disturbed our parents with its intensity. How strange to see that it has the same effect on some of our kids lol.

Saw them with Queensryche in around 1988 at Brooklyn Lamours.... Room was so packed the sweat pooled on the ceiling and was literally raining down on the crowd as they jammed this. disgusting but an incredible wild show like always....
The “solos” definitely had the desired effect. The purpose of a lot of Slayers solos were to leave the listener confused and disoriented. They don’t make sense to the non-slayer folk, but to a massive slayer fan, that was EXACTLY what it was supposed to be.
I was there many times these lads played many of these songs live the first time. They were incredible to see early to mid eighties; and even today. One band that NEVER wimped out after the first couple records. RIP Jeff H

Slayer is like a delicacy. It's an acquired taste. You either enjoy it or you don't. Very different sound of Thrash Metal among the big 4 but arguably the most influential since it gave birth to plethora of extreme Metal.

The first thing we did was play the tape and it began with Raining Blood. I was instantly and forever a Slayer fan. We listened to that song all weekend. I don't watch many reaction vids anymore cause there are so many performative, fake reactions. Every song is made to seem like the coolest and best song the reactor has ever heard; even songs that typically would take a few listens to wrap your head around. That said, wonderful editing and your videos are excellently made.
Out of all of those reactors, I love Aileen the most. Because she truly loves metal. So many reactors don't even like metal, but they don't want to disappoint their viewers which may cause them to get un-subs, so they pretend to enjoy it and nod along... That's why I pretty much stopped watching like 90% of reactor videos. Lost in Vegas is also good, because they are 100% honest and tell you when they don't like a song and the viewers appreciate that, which is why they have more subscriptions. You usually can tell the fakers though, which again is probably 90% of them... I imagine with lots of those reactors as soon as the video stopped said, Man, that was worst garbage I ever heard! , but for some reason the viewers are naive enough to believe they actually like it just because they say they do.... lol.

I mean if people actually get their feelings hurt because a reactor doesn't like a song they suggested, then they obviously have issues.. But yea Lost in Vegas will never trash a song, but they will say if it's n ot for them and why they don't care for it, but they are 100% authentic AND HONEST, which is incredibly rare with reactor channels these days.

I plugged in my stereo, pressed play, and there was a spark and a pop, and I jumped out of my skin. I thought, “What did Slayer just do to my room?!?!” After finding an outlet that worked, I listened to it over and over and became obsessed. I wanted to get all their older music and begged my parents for Reign in Blood for my 15th birthday. My folks - God bless ‘em - did just that despite that album cover and all those song names. Still a huge fan.

I was never a fan of their solos. They had great rhythm, drumming, Aria’s tone and overall aggressiveness drew me to them.
