Imagine the pleasure of being a young teenager when Slayer came on the scene. Imagine. 🥺
Clash of the Titans tour 1991, Slayer just dropped Seasons in the Abyss album. Alice in Chains opened, Slayer, Anthrax, Megadeth, and a few others. Black eye from mosh pit. Kick in the pants time
I was 13 when Reign in Blood came out, along with M.O.P. By Metallica, changed my whole genre of musical listening. Im 50 and still have both on my playlist
I don't need to imagine.
I WAS a teenager when Slayer took off..! ;)
I was 17 when this album came out. It was in constant rotation.
That was me you’re talking about LOL
I love the amount of "WTF is going on here" facial expressions.
Yea lovely
I'm ready to see them melt
And the way the WTF intensifies when the solo kicks in 😂😂😂🤟🏽
Not ready for Origin, just yet.
It's similar to taking that small town guy who has never been to a city and dropping him into the Times Square subway station.
As a Metal Head, this bring a giant smile to my face. The emotions Slayer brings to new listeners is simply a joy. Welcome to the pit. 😉
Huge smile, lol.....knowing the song and anticipating the reactions cuz sh*ts about to get heavier is juicy af😅
I will never forget when this came out. My best friends told me to come over as they had a new stack of LPs to play.
I walked into the morgue, friend finishing makeup on a cadaver, this was the first album he played. Great memories.
Damn right bro!!! I grew up with this band!!! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Damn right!!! Welcome to the pit.... Stay Alert! 🤘🤘
You know what you are here for! If someone goes down, you pick 'an up! Tom was my mental health practitioner.
The solo at the end is chaotic for a reason.
It's intended to represent the battle in heaven as evil takes over.
Wow
And what about the another 164 chaotic Slayer solos? XD
@@WilderAutumnBlaze Their solos are a mess of pinch harmonics and dive bombing tremolo dives and a few more pinch harmonics.
its intended to represent the battle of me on the toilet.
The lead guitar fits perfectly. It couldn't have been done more perfectly.
"Trapped in purgatory" The three most iconic words in metal history.
To be fair, I’d go for “Abolish the rules of stone!!” (I know that’s 5 words LOL)
how about "Auschwitz , the meaning of pain" ?
Abolish the rules made of stone...heavy f**king line
Angel of Death
Dude, your editing skills are next level.
The sheer number of reactors you included in this, at just the right moment, is genuinely impressive.
Aside from No Life Shaq killing my vibe just as I'm getting into the groove
yes.
@@mikethemotormouthhe tries too hard sometimes
@jonbaxter4285 and I would think I could expect an editor like this to keep garbage like that out of the comp
@mikethemotormouth you'd think so but since he has a large following I'd imagine they're trying to reach that audience for more follows. Idk 🤷♂️
I'm listening to this song for 37 years and *everytime* I get goosebumps. Even just now.
lol, same here man. I was reading through the comments before I put this in my comment. \m/_(>_
Best intro ever. Gets me every time too.
Took my oldest son to see Slayer in 2015 for his first time. Took him in the pit during Angel of Death. Got his baptism of fire in his first pit ever during Slayer. He made me proud for him being only 15.
Same here. Goosebumps.
It is dope 😎...
" that was chaotic and I love it " Best words to describe Slayer. Nice editing !! Thanks Derek 🤘🏼
Structured cacophony.
The more you listen to it the better it gets!
Long time Slayer fan, and "it's almost like you can hear that guitar begging for help" is the most perfect way I've ever heard Kerry/Jeff described LMFAO
As a big fan of Slayer, that made me laugh my ass off when he said that.
Same / Never heard it put that before but YES!
put that way before
(UA-cam apparently no longer allowing edits anymore)
A guy I used to work with once described Kerry King's solos like "A B.C. Rich being thrown down a set of stairs"!! Still, they were pure genius
I remember being 14 years old and sitting with my friends talking about how we'd still listen to this in our old age and it'd scare the crap outta our grandkids. Well, lol, we're almost there. Ahahahahaha
see I listen and play this kinda stuff on guitar and its like that to my grandpa bc he thought metallica was heavy lmfao hes a beatles guy so its funny and one day he asked what i can play on guitar and iIdid some raining blood and angel of death and he was like woah okay then
"How do you feel about it?"
"I hate it"
Lmao
I cracked up! 🤣..seriously was crying when I turned on the video..she broke me! XooX
headbanging to this at live events is the definition of a kickass good time.
I was the headbanger at Slayer. My younger bro always hit the pit.
And also, you'll never forget how a Slayer show smells like.
Down front is where it’s at.
Been a Slayer fan since a kid, Im 18 tho never got a chance to see them live, I play in my own band and we cover a lot of Slayer songs, i dont know why but no other local bands cover Slayer songs even the thrash bands just play Metallica and Megadeth covers, maybe they dont have balls for that... wish they did because really want to hear Slayer songs live even if not performed by Slayer themselves...
Kickin some one ass in the pit is the definition of Good time!!!!!
When my generation was growing up in the 80's we took a certain pride in the fact that our music disturbed our parents with its intensity. How strange to see that it has the same effect on some of our kids lol.
lol true
Slayer is just an acquired taste. Like your first sip of scotch. You learn to appreciate them the more you go in.
I think every band is like that
@@WilderAutumnBlaze If you want to gently slide in to Slayer, start out with some Seasons of the Abyss:)
18 and i fucking love slayer thanks to my dad!!!
@@WilderAutumnBlaze Fuck no. The broad majority of music is easy listening for the purpose of reaching the widest range of people so money can be made.
The first time I heard it, I hated it, too messy. The second time, I was like, "DAMN THIS GOOD"
If you were a kid in the 90's...this album was a staple
And 80's when it came out
the 80's bro !!
@@axelpteeg yea but it wasn't on everybody's stereo's until 1990 in New Zealand, albums and even import's were expensive when we were kids! No internet and parents credit cards back in the day
The time when i 1st heard reign in blood was such a shock in a positive way + they never recorded a ballad song. That was enough for a young metal head!Still is.
Saw them with Queensryche in around 1988 at Brooklyn Lamours.... Room was so packed the sweat pooled on the ceiling and was literally raining down on the crowd as they jammed this. disgusting but an incredible wild show like always....
The “solos” definitely had the desired effect. The purpose of a lot of Slayers solos were to leave the listener confused and disoriented. They don’t make sense to the non-slayer folk, but to a massive slayer fan, that was EXACTLY what it was supposed to be.
well, it is speed metal for a reason
I was never a fan of their solos. They had great rhythm, drumming, Aria’s tone and overall aggressiveness drew me to them.
I like how half the reactors are losing their shit and the other half is looking around astonished at what they're hearing lmao
While Raining Blood is the quintessential Slayer song, I wonder if they would have been more impressed with War Ensemble, Seasons or Angel of Death.
“Dead Skin Mask”
Hell Awaits would be cool.
Disciple too, if they were gonna listen to the lyrics
New Faith
Seasons In The Abyss was my first Slayer song. Heard it on the radio, loved it and asked my metal mate which album it was off. That went well, haha!
Now imagine if you told those folks that Dave Lombardo just released a Latin percussion record. Truly one of the greatest drummers ever.
One of the best live drummers I've ever seen!
I was there many times these lads played many of these songs live the first time. They were incredible to see early to mid eighties; and even today. One band that NEVER wimped out after the first couple records.
RIP Jeff H
Love seeing these people rocking out uncontrollably and then saying "I didnt really care for it" lol. Slayer possessed you! Muahahaha
Shaq is turning into a modern legend with his reactions. So badass!! 😆
An easy introduction to Slayer for beginners. ‘Cause, why not start there? 😂😂. The editing is out of this world as always!
lol I remember when this album first came out. It was brutal then and still is today. I am 49 and I still listen to this and many other Slayer albums.
SLAYER!!!!!!!!!!🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Haha!!! I love Slayer. Seen them 11 times live since 1988. Was a fan of the first album in 1983. 🤘😈
The cut from Shaq going “bro what the” to the other bro just rocking is hysterical 😂
Another great video! Thank you very much. I’ve seen Slayer live many times and this made me smile!
Slayer was one of the hardest and gnarliest heavy metal bands around.
Hey thanks for including me! SLAYER EFFIN RULES!!!!!!!!
Seeing this live in 86 is one of the highlights of my metal career.
Man, I can't even imagine - I saw them on Jan 2nd 1995 at the shrine auditorium in downtown l.a. - absolute chaos! 😂
Best show ever in November 86 at the Ritz!! Slayers most best show and kerry n jeff agree too. It was legendary!!!
I will never forget the feeling of hearing this for the first time. I was 14 years old (in 1990) and my best friend (to this day, too) brought his Game Boy, three VHS movies and a mix tape to my house. The first thing we did was play the tape and it began with Raining Blood. I was instantly and forever a Slayer fan. We listened to that song all weekend. RIP Jeff Hanneman of SLAYER
I also discovered Testament that weekend, too🤘
Did we just become best friends?!
One of my favorite bands! Nice job with multiple reactions. It’s better than just watching one person react for the entire song. Great job!!
KILLED another edit!!! Your videos always make me laugh until I cry!! Watching the confusion settle in is amazing!!!😂😂😂
I have been WAITING for this one. Thank you, Derek! 🤘
The blood pouring down from the lacerated skies drowned some of them (confused reactions), whilst others enjoyed bathing in it (appreciative reactions).
I don't watch many reaction vids anymore cause there are so many performative, fake reactions. Every song is made to seem like the coolest and best song the reactor has ever heard; even songs that typically would take a few listens to wrap your head around. That said, wonderful editing and your videos are excellently made.
GREAT FN PICK!!! That's 2 of the Big 4 down. Who's next? Megadeth with Holy Wars or Symphony of Destruction, or Anthrax and Madhouse or Bring The Noise? Trick question, doesn't matter. Imma watch it no matter what.
For Megadeth I think that Tornado of Souls would be the best pick!
This brought me joy. Thank you!
And you got yourself a subscriber. You did a fantastic job with these clips. I had fun watching all these reactons. Thank you!
Slayer is like a delicacy. It's an acquired taste. You either enjoy it or you don't. Very different sound of Thrash Metal among the big 4 but arguably the most influential since it gave birth to plethora of extreme Metal.
Man, YOU ARE THE FREAKING BEST! Slaaaaaaaaaaaayer!!!!!!!!!! I am so glad to see you do one of my all time favorite bands.
I loved it! Non Slayer people reacting to the Masters is hysterical🤣🤣🤣🤣
I just love to see all of their reactions! More Slayer reactions please! Keep up the good work! 😁👍🏻
Haha! Yes, fucking awesome. That was a truly accurate amalgam of reactions to this song and Slayer music in general.
Also, my first Slayer concert was in 1989 and they OPENED with this song. Place went nuts.
This shit was hilarious.
You did an awesome job editing this video.
It's impossible to not like Slayer.
some of these folk do a good job though.
Guess u missed the part where one lady says “I hate it”
@@zigsteenine8650 that's because she's nobody.
Everybody loves Slayer.
Still gets me jacked up.. proud fan since 87🤘💯
Good video, thanks for putting this together
Slayer is adrenaline mixed with chaos, whether you like it or not, it does something to you!
Seen them play this outdoor at ozzfest and just as they started it started raining...v cool moment 🤘
I could watch this all day. Great collection of energy reactions. R I B just never gets old. 👍
A trip down memory lane, Thank you. Angel of Death is one Hell of a gr8 song too.
Thanks again for this 🙂
I bought this album-- on vinyl-- in the 80s. Still fabulous.
Pure, absolute perfection like always. 5:20 was especially on point.
Another masterpiece boss man!Love to see it pop up on my feed ❤
I haven't heard this song in 30+ years. Great to see it still grips people by the throat and goes full throttle. My mother hated these guys. Then I introduced her to Mercyful Fates "Don't Break the Oath"
Why did you stop listening to it? Did you suffer a stroke?
This still sounds intense even after it made the mould for so much that followed. When it first came out this was something never ever heard before.
the reactions are priceless to the absolute chaos, yet they all bop along to the grouse breakdowns :)
I always love the reactions to great metal bands. Most, if not all, love the song afterwards. Great video.
Moshpit music kiddos. Great for teenage angst. I grew up when this came out and the punks and atajers we're all over this. Thanks for bringing back to find memories.
I love Slayer and have done for 30+yrs. They're an acquired taste though. lol
& they're the greatest taste EVER!
@warpedreflection3650
I've been listening to hard rock and metal since my earliest youth.
When I got a self-assembled cassette from new friends with songs that they liked, there was a lot on it that I liked when listening to it several times.
Four songs immediately hit my ear, and the music never let me go again.
Whiplash by Metallica
Hell Awaits by Slayer (today still one of my favorite songs)
Crucifiction of Hellhammer and
Black Metal by Venom
I have rediscovered many bands for me over the decades, but no band has ever had such a "THAT'S IT" effect on me again.
Omg I follow so many of these reactors! Love it!
One of my favorite songs! Love the reactions of these people 😂😂
Shame none of these people can never be at a live show. They are amazing live.
I love that Slayer still scares the s*** out of people. They were always f****** real and they always brought it f****** hard as f***💪🏼💀
Slayer are an assault on the senses, love or hate them, they are masters.
Buddy smashing his hat on the ground had the perfect reaction
Lol, all I can say to those viewers who had no idea what they were walking into is WELCOME TO METAL MUSIC and WELCOME TO THE PIT 😁, Slayer is one of the four bands that cemented speed and thrash metal, they are a super heavy weight and I have to agree with most of the other comments I’ve seen, the WTF expressions…….classic
Oh, side note, Ice-T metal band Bodycount released their cover of this a year or two ago called Reign in Blood, not a bad cover
Out of all of those reactors, I love Aileen the most. Because she truly loves metal. So many reactors don't even like metal, but they don't want to disappoint their viewers which may cause them to get un-subs, so they pretend to enjoy it and nod along... That's why I pretty much stopped watching like 90% of reactor videos. Lost in Vegas is also good, because they are 100% honest and tell you when they don't like a song and the viewers appreciate that, which is why they have more subscriptions. You usually can tell the fakers though, which again is probably 90% of them... I imagine with lots of those reactors as soon as the video stopped said, Man, that was worst garbage I ever heard! , but for some reason the viewers are naive enough to believe they actually like it just because they say they do.... lol.
I do hate when people are obviously fake enjoying something, especially after hearing it for the first time. There are plenty of bands that I didn't like at first listen but grew to love once I wrapped my head around it.
This was one of the first Lost in Vegas reactions I ever saw, afterward they were both just like "...I think that was a bit much to try to chew off this early in our metaldom" lol
@@themulattomaker2602 EXACTLY, that's what I enjoy about Lost in Vegas. I don't listen to them much anymore, as they never review many of the bands that I like, but they are 100% honest. I mean if people actually get their feelings hurt because a reactor doesn't like a song they suggested, then they obviously have issues.. But yea Lost in Vegas will never trash a song, but they will say if it's n ot for them and why they don't care for it, but they are 100% authentic AND HONEST, which is incredibly rare with reactor channels these days.
Exactly. Fake ass people
we have found the simp
That was awesome. Great edit.
you're killing it with these videos 🔥
@2:08 dude, leave her.
Ok, this has got to be one of the best reaction videos I’ve ever seen…
Nice video. 🤣 reacting to reactions. They remind me of someone, standing in a stream, realizing the dam upstream has failed, and they can feel the rush coming.
Great editing !!!!! This was awesome !!
My adult son's have been Slayer fans since they were teenagers. One came home with a broken nose from a Slayer Mosh Pit. South of Heaven and Dead Skin Mask are Mom's favorites
Leaving the dream.
If you had the record album, this was the last song. And on the turntable the raining noises at the end would loop continuously until you turned it off.
But you didn't turn it off because this was the signal to sacrifice your parents to SATAN! 🤘😈💀👹👺
No life Shaq 😂 love the reactions man. Epic
I can't wait for you next compilations!
It's not for everyone - and we're OK with that.
Name one Slayer Song that does not mention: the devil, blood or death. I’ll wait LOL
Then it wouldn't be SLAYER.
@@satanlaffing hahahaha exactly
0:55 long hair dude is totally me in my car lmaooo "hellll ya dude" just head banging on the freeway lmao
I love slayer. My favorite metal band. I been listening to them since the beginning. I was a teenager back then. I'm 51 now, and still listen to them everyday and wear my slayer shorts with pride.
hell to the yeah !!!
i would love to see something like this for angel of death
dope editing as always
Every time I saw such an reaction videos I remember the first time when I listen to this album. My first Slayer's album recorded on one side of the standard cassette. Probably my own face expressions was the same. But this was a love for entire live. Slayer is the best metal band for me. This album is pure evil madness. And that made it better :)
You don't like this song? You don't deserve your life!
If you don't like this song you shall be SLAYED!
95% of them "reactors" are definition of posers.
I was 14 years old when South of Heaven came out. I got that tape and took it to my room to listen to for the first time. We’d just moved into a new house, parts of it were still under construction, and there were all sorts of problems with the electricity.
I plugged in my stereo, pressed play, and there was a spark and a pop, and I jumped out of my skin. I thought, “What did Slayer just do to my room?!?!”
After finding an outlet that worked, I listened to it over and over and became obsessed. I wanted to get all their older music and begged my parents for Reign in Blood for my 15th birthday.
My folks - God bless ‘em - did just that despite that album cover and all those song names. Still a huge fan.
Awesome job on the edit!
Watching people react to a song I have listened to for decades was epic!
The first time I ever heard this song was playing guitar hero 3 at 2 am and I was shook. I played that song on repeat for 3 hours and watched the sun rise
Best reaction video that I've ever seen in my life....and I've seen thousands.
Ughh I wish I could back and hear this for the first time again. So in love❤❤❤❤
Another great video, thank you.
This is great.
These are AMAZING!! I’d love to see one of these compilations of Bohemian Rhapsody, that song is a whole ass journey lol
Its the greatest thrash song ever. Its hard to explain the impact of hearing this album in 1986.....these people think their minds are blown decades later? If you ever saw them anywhere between the mid 80s to the early 90s, I guarantee you saw the most intense, wild, aggressive concert ever....never happen again, it was intense. People would lose their minds.
That was awesome! 😂
Slayer rules! 🤘
