I like the .63 5th on these gear boxes. Makes running 4:10s on the street and highway much more tolerable.
I also like the 2.95 1st gear with 4.10's

You know people say these transmissions are weak , but it all comes down to the way you drive it! I'm sure you could blow up a T56 behind a pretty standard 6.0 LS within a month if you drove around like a dickhead doing hi rpm clutch drops and slam shifts. The secret is to drop the clutch a little and let the weight of the car take up the slack in the driveline before feeding the power in, you can actually drive it pretty hard without hurting it if you use the right technique. Remember - smooth = fast
So just slip the clutch for a sec or so before letting it all the way out?

Idk what my trans actually is.. but it came out of an 89 Mustang and it had Auto trans fluid in it, shifted ok ... But when I switched to synchromesh it shifts a lot smoother and it's more of a pleasure to drive
I use Castrol merc / dex works awesome. Tmw I'm switching to the Purple Sync mesh for the drive to Ford takeover
I bench pressed the transmission it on my 86 project. After that experience, I invested in a trans jack 😂

gear oil in tremec is what manual said for cobra R trans i had
i hate spills. after learning the hard way and taking a bath in dex/merc, I always refill the transmission through the top where the shifter sits.
its just easier.

Definitely is I’m in the middle of carb swapping and just finished up 5 speed swapping my 94 gt still has stock gears but they’ll be changed to 4.10s soon but I got gt40 cobra heads from a 93 cobra and a speed master single plane with a qft 650 double pumper it runs pretty decent but I know she’s got more in her

I use synchromesh in my tremec 3550 with no issues but thinking about switching to atf to see if it improves cold shifting

Have a 93 lx with t-5 with 3.35 1st and 2.73 rear gears. Looking to get this trans it has a 2.95 1st and will be putting in 3.73 car is basically stock. How much of a difference will it be
Can the t5z handle 360 lb ft of torque with stock 84 fox tires?
