SLAYING THE DRAGON - 24 Hour Engine Rebuild At Home With Startup!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 вер 2024
- Ya'll wanted a budget build so thats what we did! 24hr rebuild all done at home (except one thing)
We ported heads, lapped valves, honed cylinders, installed new rings and bearings with great results. Although we pulled it off cheaper than building a new stroker.. It's not as far of a gap in price like you may think.. #POOPCOUPE #302ENGINEBUILD #BREW2LVIDEOS

Other is short block out of bronco i think!!!
Also new water pump, hei dis, odd other parts!!!
A9 ecm also!
Make a killer deal!!!!!
How much and are you near Huntsville I live in toney al. I would like to put one of those in my 07 Ranger
@@richardfrank4959 im about 30-45min north of huntsville
I love that fastback table!!!!!
If you had a low mile 302 motor that would be the ultimate budget build being you wouldn’t have to refresh like your doing now. Good content also I know Mr 363 Dean personally him and Jonathan 🏁
I have that same alternator bracket on mine. Can't get a belt to stay on for nothing. Load the engine up just right. Shreds belt right off
We had to shim mine to get it to work correctly
You've given me hope that I can redo my engine with not much time or money, thanks! - A 17 year old
You got this! 💪
Appreciate it man, God bless @@BREW2LFOXBODY
See you in Texas bud! I'll be in the only four eyed sand beige coupe on gold wheels there ✌️
0.040 sounded pretty wide for 4 inch pistons even it was for like 30 lb
I agree but that’s what we had to work with. It’s still better than .170 😁
Damn I’m also scrambling to finish, trying to get to LMR cruise in
💪✊
1998 sbe 5.0 E7 heads ported Briante custom cam/springs stock ported intake stock throttle body long tubes stock 5spd 3.73 gears Hoosier DOTs Notch w/150 wet kit 11.30s
Junk can run hard
that's the way I lap valve is with a grill
Love the music playing at 8:11, takes me back to those days man, cruising riding around and getting a race or two on a Friday night. Man, miss those days
I know right! 👌
Good work see yall Saturday at LMR. Let me now if yall need a tent car😂
Im glad you f'd up. That's what a 17 yr old would have done
🤣😁 true dat
Will you be going to lmr cruise in this weekend???🦊🔥💨💨
Yes sir 💪
I appreciate your motivation. Learned a long time ago never to order parts till the engine was taken apart. Nothing sucks more than getting what you thought was an "original" engine only to pull it apart and find the pistons stamped overbore and the crank mic'ing .020 under.
Correct and normally that’s what I would do. But being pressed for time I had to do what I had to do.
🔔😎🇺🇸
AWESOME!!!
I'm impressed👍👍
B12 would have been a waste of $6 LOL..
Did you the connecting rods thing for more compression as well?
Yup for sure a good feeling to hear one fire up after a fresh rebuild. I remember my very first engine build, a 410ci FE Ford big block out of a 67' Mercury Marquis Marauder that I had bought for $100 back when I was just 15, I'm 50 now lol for reference. I put that engine in my Dad's 67' Mustang 4spd coupe, with a shaker hood scoop. I had to drive to school, about 8 miles, with open headers to take it to the muffler shop to get exhaust put on Green Horse, and I got the attention of the entire school that day needless to say hahaha! Looks and sounds great man, keep up the cool work!
That’s awesome, I bet those kids are now telling their kids about that car 💪
Did you have your check the pushrod length?
You should have done the old flip pistons ,bend the oil control ring ,for less tension along with run a single plasma top ring only toss the second in the box for a stocker... if you ever have played with that old school power adder it will definitely make you think different. I have put a bunch of laughing gas on one ring as well as boost it works
👀 damn bro you wild 🤣
No way in hell you getting away with a top ring with those cylinder walls. Did you guys measure P to Wall for shits and giggles?
What’s going on out here in TX?
LMR cruise in 😎
'Glad that you refreshed this engine. "budget" really means "spend the least amount of $$ needed"--sometimes you spend a little here to avoid spending more over there. And "budget stroker ford windsor" is spelled 3-5-1-W :)
I need to redo my engine..it never starts hot..the timming is hard to set..runs like a beast.306 ish..its a strange motor..I call it 306 ish cause I'm not even sure it's a 306.its sounds like it has a turbo on it and at doesnt.
Starter heat soaking?
Now she is sounding good, you didn't like two quarters ring gap, it's a little loose, and smokey, Now she is
tightened up, sounding good. Those who comments about lapping valves, you do it your way, whatever
get it the job done. Great job guys, time for many 🍺🍺🍺!!
That gap was like | | 🤣
🤣🤣@@BREW2LFOXBODY
That explains why it sounds better(crispy) Great DIY video. I actually bought a 331 forged short block for $3700(rounded up) shipping and all from Creb engineering..
Damn that’s not too bad!
Killed it bro, I knew you would! See you Friday!
We ready! Can’t wait brother ✊💪
What all did u do to break in the new rings
Taking care of business, looking good my man...👈💯
Thanks bro
the cartoon like graphics you added in are really cool . I guess you answer to HOLLYWOOD now too. good stuff .
Lmao. Thanks. I guess.. 🤔🤣
Good job! That is how we used to build our projects before the "budget" buzzword. Pretty much how I install pistons too. You probably got 20hp by grinding out those thermaculator nonsense flow restrictors 🤣
Agreed. It’s just what we did back in the day.
Don’t remind me
That is a lot of work you guys put in. Definitely a very big job.... especially to do it all over a weekend 👏. Everyone earned a 🍺 or two. 👍
We worked hard at it. But I know you guys do the same thing as well.
Little love tap won't hurt cut the piston stock valves I take it I got a brand new set of Ferrera stock replacement for e7 +.100 valves brand new I bought long ago never put them to use I also have a set of e7 they are going into. Flowed real close to afr 165s actually beat them on dyno 8 buy a substantial margin they are max out though will work on daily driver but you could gport the afr 165 and end that battle
Like to have seen it in parts. Pulling it and breakdown, with assessment of just the basics of what it needs then block clean up and then heads then assembled then installation and start up probably in 3 or 4 separate videos.
You know, cost and time of a basic budget friendly bench top rebuild.
Not everyone has the money to just run out and buy a 331, and don’t forget some folks would like to keep original parts as much as possible.
You were crunched on time for this one, so it had to be done this way, and it did show real time for the rebuild.
Turned out pretty good.
Wanna come to Ohio and do that to my engine? Would be a hell of a UA-cam video
She sounds good brother!!!!!
Appreciate that!
We used to crush like that and split the block after banging on it a few weeks then do it again. Also 840hp at the fly, didn’t have a chance.
👀 naw I bet it didn’t last very long. 🤣🤣
Congrats on being able to get a set of heads decked same day
I got lucky on that one ☝️
Don did my heads ... Great guy..
Absolutely 💯
Y’all did excellent work in a short period of time! Truly a lot can be accomplished with the right team! She is looking good and sounding impressive Brother!! 💯👊🏾👊🏾
Having a great team is worth its weight in gold! Thanks brother
Dang 24 hr rebuild that's awesome! Pretty cool to see how simple things can be and still get great results. Good job!👍🐺
Thanks 💪
Id love to see you do a elcheapo ebay turbo on it .
Good Video Man!!
Looking forward to seeing it perform at the racetrack!!
Thank you 🙏
I think pretty relatable that someone who’s in the same boat as you can do this on their own, you know the blow by boat, clean the heads up little.
Definitely. I let my emotions get to me a little during this build but it was worth it
That engine looks good brother!!!! It's definitely worth it. When your tired as all get out its not roflmfao!!!!.
Thanks bro 😎
Always makes me feel better when I’m not the only one with issues with these cars. Engine sounds good now.
Awesome stuff. I about got my butt kicked installing new motor mounts and yall did all this😂😂. I need to up my game.
Lmao it’s like that sometimes honestly 🫣
Looks like a lot of guys around Dothan are having LS engines built at that machine shop
lol yep 🤨🤢🤮
Well she ain’t choochin out the breathers no more, that’s a win!
Lmao she’s pretty much sealed up now 👌
What push rod length on the n41 cam
Stock push rods
I have a b303 but wanna try a different one
The last 5.0 motor i built i used arp head studs .. i went past the recomended 72 pounds torque spec and went yo the 351w 112 torque spec .. it will get twin turbo later so i wanted yo make sure i wouldn’t blow a head gasket . Ive noticed the 351w dont blow a headgasket as often as the 5.0 does .
We went over on ours as well. 👌😁
@@BREW2LFOXBODY good .. alot of ppl dont realize how close the 5.0 and the 351w head configuration is .. “LOL” ive had ppl tell me i was stupid and id stretch the head studs and flatten the head gaskets out … ive had to tell them that IF 112 ft lbs of torque will stretch the arp head studs to where they are useless ill buy some other kind from now on because they are junk !!!.. i also tell them that the same head gasket for the 5.0 is the same part number for the 351w … after their blank stare ill ask them NOW WHOS THE DUMMY ???
Folks have gotta step away from the copycat thinking and think outside the box .. take gaskets for instance ill glue the gasket to the timing cover valve cover or whatever and smear a thin coat of vaseline on the other side so when i take it apart im scraping gasket off the cover over on the work bench (if need be ) instead of head down ass up scraping gaskets off the engine and lil pieces of gasket going down in the motor … i guess ya learn alot after doing it for 35 years … the thing about me is the more i learn the more i want to do !!
Love my 5.0 but I was ready to throw it in the trash because of those valve springs. You would think someone would make a tool similar to the LS valve spring tool.
They are aggravating as hell sometimes…
The poop coupe deserves a paint job
One day… maybe 🤔
Awesome!!! 🇺🇸💪🏼
Awesome job / video... Congrats to all 💪😎
Thanks bro
You did flip the slugs ignore that in las message
I thought about it. But chickend out in the end. Lol we are very close on PTV clearance so I didn’t want to push my luck. 🤣
Gapped for all the boost!!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣
👀🤣🤣🤣 definitely
Love the videos been a fan for a long time awesome budget rebuild but sometimes new pistons and a bore job should be done you don’t want all that piston slap from worn skirts even new rings can’t prevent that. Especially for factory computer guys a zero mile engine for dependability is all people are looking for overall great video!!!
I was putting new valve cover gaskets on last weekend and decided to pull a couple rockers and measure my cam lobe lift. My exhaust was .335 and intake was.315 on the lobes. Multiply by 1.6 for stock rockers=Little much for what I think are stock valve springs? Over .500” on both. Kinda makes me wonder what cam is in the car. Kinda glad it a split lobe, means it’s not a letter cam, from what I’ve heard they’re mediocre. The springs have red and orange paint on them, stock? If any one knows I’d appreciate it, on the springs and the cam.
Hard to say obviously…. Anyone else?
Man i wish i would of thought of that when i lapped the vavles on the sbc in my boat that shit took forever i did both heads and only used one but thats a whole different story lol 😂 plug wire oops
If you ain’t cheating you ain’t trying
Nice job guys! What was the thickness of the head gasket you used?
Oil companies must be cheaping out..checked my wife's oil..it was sludge..never in over 30 + years have I ever seen oil sludge other then on youtube or tictok..
Mine was mostly metal shavings 🫣🤣
What you got going on in the greatest state ever?
LMR cruise in 💪
If you can find a balanced stroker kit for $1100 let us know where. The only kits I see for that price are unbalanced.
Either way, you guys got a lot done in short time. 👏
True.. but my machine shop only charges 180 to balance one. I mean no doubt it’s more money but sometimes it’s the right call
@@BREW2LFOXBODY wow, that's the "I have a guy" deal. Awesome.
I think with nitrous, you'll easily run 11s with the right tires. Curious to hear what Poop Coupe 2.0 will be. Windsor Stroker? You didn't need that 331 anyway lol
@@pimpovic2 the machine shop in the video is who does my work. You’re correct, I didn’t need it 😁👌
@@BREW2LFOXBODY I can just see little Neo sitting on your shoulder whispering in your ear 🤣
@@pimpovic2 👀🤣🤣🤣
351 stroker in the future😂
👀😁
$160 rings?!?!? What rings did you order? It's been a year since I've ordered rings, but our 0.060 over rings were $40 last year. I broke one being stupid and had to order another $40 set. But $160? Jeez!
I’m first set was 60 but I had to buy these from the parts store.. was all they had in stock.
@@BREW2LFOXBODY gotcha. That sucks. I feel for ya.
@@BREW2LFOXBODYcurious to know how you figured out you had the wrong rings the first time.
Yote swap?
No sir I’m a ford guy!
@@BREW2LFOXBODY coyote??
@@User-mr3vp I was just messing with ya 🤣 nah I’m going to stay pushrod 💪
Bounce wit me😂. Oil is cheap, engines are not!
