First time in the Dolomites was way back in 1994 on a Edelweiss Tour ( I am from San Francisco). Couldn't see a thing, low clouds & rain, but you felt something was surrounding you. Went back a year later on The Beach Tour, glorious sunshine, what a difference. Almost a religious experience. Overnite in Arabba, so had 2 days to explore the place. Spent a lot of time getting off the bike, finding a bench away from the crowds & taking it all in. Spectacular!!!! Thanks for taking us along on your adventure.
@fuglbird Beach's Motorcycle Adventures is what I was referring to. Did a ride through Norway on my own many years ago, also checked out Sweden & Denmark . Great time. Check out Beach's, they offer some great trips through Europe, the best is The Classis Alpine Adventure. They have been doing tours since 1972, so they know all the great little out of the way roads.

Love your photography. I wish there had been drones when we were motorhoming. Thanks for the memories of the beautiful places. Cicadas are really noisy and they live under the ground. Motorhome people always end up talking about toilets so you need to do it also.

Stunning mountains. Having spent a lot of time in France I can say that the squatters are not so bad. Certainly gets you in and out quickly. I know now where I'm going on my bike tour next year.
Such a beautiful world we live in. Outside of all the politics of life And When we go to places like this, I saw those footpaths going across the bottom end of that mountain range. That would be a wicked walk! Unfortunately these places in the winter are very, very harsh so it's nice to think of living out there but not very practical in the winter time. Great for a summer vacation home

"So many questions..." - here are some answers : Blokes peeing standing up - no problem as the water level is a lot lower than you think. Havin a dump or sometimes called "bomb aiming" - take yer kegs off (try it with yer kegs on D.O.D.G.E.Y). They usually have a flushing mechanism, worked by a lever or chain. We NEED to see a vid of your attempts 😅😁🙃
The views, the Commentary, the filming, the editing and the Ride! All of it done very well, with style & skill! It's not easy! I've ridden those roads multiple times. Loved it each time, but never could capture such footage because I was so mesmerized by the sights and the ride. You guys did a great job....all the way thru the trip! Thank you for sharing!
The noisy bugs are Cicadas I think pronounced as circadian, they are all over Europe and as you say very noisy. Totally harmless. I’ve seen them in NZ too where they are larger still. Hope that air bed works, you need a campsite with a pool and try the old one as a lilo,hopefully you’ll find the leak
Living near the Swiss Alps, I thought I had seen how beautiful towering rocks into the sky can look like, but this here is on another scale, Wow. I think every time you said "Wow" I had already said twice before you had! And yes Ewa, it certainly does look like a picture postcard..., a 3D picture postcard with you in the middle of it. It is not just riding so many twisties in quick succession that makes you tired, it is the constant concentration needed to safely navigate them, and at the same time, see a bit of those extrodinary views. Decathlon to the rescue... your back has been saved👍,the show can now continue as scheduled. Stay safe and vigilant.

Hi bud welcome to the channel. We often forget to change the speedo. I always say that you should ride the appropriate speed. This means the number on your dash isn’t really relevant but riding safely is and ensuring you can always stop in the distance to which you can see. Don’t over think it, just go for it!

I have tried swapping to kph on the speedo and wonder why I then head too quickly into corners until the light bulb moment! 🤯. At 57 I'm conditioned to think I'm mph. Another great vid, amazing views! Have a look at a Thermarest lite cot bed, not cheap (there are plenty of cheaper alternatives), but great build quality and pretty comfy. Much better than an air bed, they pack small/light, perfect for bike trips.

@neilurquhart8622 sat on one in rugby today, 2020 gl 1800 felt cramped as I'm 6.2 and chubby 🤣 gonna find a latest version to try as the seat looks to have less of a back rest. I've been advised to try a GS 1200 as they're built for Germans not Japanese like honda 😲
It depends on your style, for an adventure bike consider the GS perhaps? I assume you have done what you can to make your bike fit you better? Maybe see how your wife feels bout riding her own? The Goldwing is a big bike, or there’s the big BMW K1600? Best thing to do is to test ride as many bikes as you can find and see what you like best.

I've never, not once, in 45 years of Moto Camping phoned ahead for a campsite. My ratio of not getting in a campsite when just rocking up is around 1000/1
Those are good odds! We generally try to phone ahead mainly to check if there’s WiFi etc but if No one answers we usually chance it and there’s always a pitch
@ontheroadadventure of course, you need Wifi. Good point. I have a Big Agnes Boundary Delux, (£200) and am paranoid of getting a puncture in that. Going to be so interesting to see how you get on with that 13 euro mattress.
There was a BBC Horizon programme years ago that analysed blokes peeing into a bowl rather than sitting on it (yes I know different to a hole in the ground!) and it showed the awful splashing that can’t really be seen but means the floor should be cleaned every time. Just saying…and not saying what I do either 😂
Ah the good old squatting pan toilet . Came across these on an Italian campsite. They originate in Asia and Africa and the French use them. Apparently when you squat your poo tube is in the optimum position for the perfect shit . Enjoy . 😂😂😂😂😂
The hole in the floor toilets are good. When you squat with your feet in the correct position on the pads you will poop down the hole every time! Also, your bum will be cleaner than with a conventional toilet. (You need less toilet paper). Don't be shy. Give them a chance!
Squat toilet! Would have packed up and gone elsewhere. Revolting, unhygienic and sums up what they think of their customers. The health benefits purported for a squat toilet are crap. Pardon the pun. Far greater health risk from the inevitable filth all around.

No, all the passes in the alps are only open at certain times of the year, in winter it’s not possible to go over

Yeah it’s not great when that happens but we just have to put on the waterproofs and make the best of it

We use FCPX to edit our videos. QS is not a must but if is fun to play with

Hi Both, what's the top 3 bikes your seeing touring on your trip. Me an the Mrs were 2 up to Amsterdam with luggage on our crf 1000 africa twin and were cramped, looking at bigger tourers now. Cheers, love your vlogs.

@neilurquhart8622 sat on one in rugby today, 2020 gl 1800 felt cramped as I'm 6.2 and chubby 🤣 gonna find a latest version to try as the seat looks to have less of a back rest. I've been advised to try a GS 1200 as they're built for Germans not Japanese like honda 😲
It depends on your style, for an adventure bike consider the GS perhaps? I assume you have done what you can to make your bike fit you better? Maybe see how your wife feels bout riding her own? The Goldwing is a big bike, or there’s the big BMW K1600? Best thing to do is to test ride as many bikes as you can find and see what you like best.

I've never, not once, in 45 years of Moto Camping phoned ahead for a campsite. My ratio of not getting in a campsite when just rocking up is around 1000/1
Those are good odds! We generally try to phone ahead mainly to check if there’s WiFi etc but if No one answers we usually chance it and there’s always a pitch

So far the mattress hasn’t been bad to be honest, however it is warm here so insulation has not been a problem yet
There was a BBC Horizon programme years ago that analysed blokes peeing into a bowl rather than sitting on it (yes I know different to a hole in the ground!) and it showed the awful splashing that can’t really be seen but means the floor should be cleaned every time. Just saying…and not saying what I do either 😂

Ah the good old squatting pan toilet . Came across these on an Italian campsite. They originate in Asia and Africa and the French use them. Apparently when you squat your poo tube is in the optimum position for the perfect shit . Enjoy . 😂😂😂😂😂

The hole in the floor toilets are good. When you squat with your feet in the correct position on the pads you will poop down the hole every time! Also, your bum will be cleaner than with a conventional toilet. (You need less toilet paper). Don't be shy. Give them a chance!

If you have problems squatting, try putting a small block under your heels, try it first before you go to ablutions, it makes it much easier. 🤣🤣🤣

Squat toilet! Would have packed up and gone elsewhere. Revolting, unhygienic and sums up what they think of their customers. The health benefits purported for a squat toilet are crap. Pardon the pun. Far greater health risk from the inevitable filth all around.
I have to say neither of us were fans and opted for the normal one we found in the disabled loo!
