Big help! I took on the task, in part by the encouragement you provided in this video. The repair of the combination meter was a total success. I replaced the 100 mfd 16v capacitor with a new 220 mfd 16 v cap...works better than new (esp after change to 220 mfd vice 100 cap). Thanks for all your effort to post this very helpful video.
GREAT video. I was only looking for how to remove the driver's side AC vent on my 2005, and that was answered within one second of actually starting the dash removal at 0:54. Removing it is the easiest way to get at the parking brake switch which I am replacing when the part arrives in a couple of days. I diagnosed that the parking brake switch was stuck on (versus the fluid level switch being on, another possible cause of red brake light warning) using a Launch Creader Elite 205 scan tool to read live data on its ABS diagnostics. The cheaper 200 or 202 would also read all the brake switches' on/off status. For the 205, I paid $188, and I chose IMMO as one of its 5 free lifetime reset functions it to match a new Toyota key fob to my 2017 Prius Prime. I later grabbed a 200 on Amazon Lightning Deal for just $71, though it would be $20 to buy each reset function (such as IMMO for doing the key fob) for one year. Between UA-cam and modern scan tools, things are getting easier to fix, when manufacturers are trying to force you to use dealerships to get repairs done. Very tempting to step up to a $450 or $700 scan tool to be able to do more things. One big DIY repair pays it back.
Thanks! Got as far as the air bag 12mm bolts and then got stuck. Someone used an air ratchet to install this, I got it loose and only lost a bit of skin.
heads up for removing the air vent trim: the plastic is very brittle compared to the other pieces and so you must pry from the bottom first, then the part will swing out. if you pry from the top you'll snap clips or even the entire piece
I replaced and now the red triangle ONLY stays lit up even if I disconnect the 12-v battery. It used to go away when I disconnected the aux battery to reset the transmission fault but now it stays lit the whole time after the replacement. What do you think could be the issue?
HiTechElectronic the light went away and everything is back to normal. I’m assuming as of now the car ecm reads different mileage from the cluster I installed now, right? This is where the disclosure must be presented when I decide to sell car in future.
@8:33 The two tabs sticking out of the foam padding that are between the speaker and the red wire. Are they supposed to connect to anything? I put the dash back in, everything seems to be in the proper place and everything works correctly but the dash now bounces at about the point of those two tabs. I checked inside the dash and car for a part that I may have dropped but couldn't find anything. I'm wondering why if it's back together like it was why does it bounce now.

I went into diagnose screen by connecting pin 4 and 13 on the OBDii. there was some BS code that did not involve air bags. I cleared it anyways . it did not clear red air bag light. Anyone have same issue? Can anyone assist ?

I am attempting to do this now and can't get the 12mm bolts holding the air bags out. They are very tight.

Before replacing the cluster you need to transfer the information from the old cluster to the new one.
