Even better if you take the lid off of French Press so plunger can reach the bottom. 1. Allows you to foam even the smallest amount of milk (i.e. for cafe macchiato) 2. You'd get much more consistent firm foam without liquid part.
Thank you do much for this tip! I didn't even realize I could take the lid off, and this was my main reason not to use my french press for frothing milk. And since I don't really drink coffee, I only drank water and tea out of it and the plunger was laying around. Now I get to save money and my plunger has a purpose again!
@@enielfblerta428 You're welcome! Be careful though, you can easily crack the beaker being overly forceful with whole reciprocating motion. (ask me how I know 😅)
@@hasanjim Sure. I microwave 60g of milk at 1000W, it comes out at 92°C. After frothing it gets down to around 60°C. 60° is somewhere on the lower side for hot drink and It would probably stay warmer if you take more milk - higher heat capacity and all, but I have no use for that. After mixing it with hot brew you can drink it pretty much straight away w/o burning your tongue.
Wow my mum has one of those she uses to make her decaf coffee. She doesn’t do this milk thing though. French press sounds much fancier that coffee plunger lol.
This is a great hack! Although one thing that I observed in my making was, 35 pumps weren’t enough to give that frothy effect of steamed milk, you gotta pump it for at least 15-20 seconds nonstop. Try it out, the results are crazy!

Thanks for this! Our Odea giro is probably on its way out, it’s old enough that parts are hard to find, and we aren’t sure if we can afford to replace it. This will be great for us!
@@Ethanrodecoffee I just tried it for myself and yeah, it’s legit. I need to dial in the foam because it was a little too much for my taste but wow. Thanks for sharing this.
Just put hot water with some dish soap (this step is for the thing that makes bubbles)and let it on the French press about 30 minutes then remove the water and clean as normal
Ha of course it does I do the same thing when cleaning with fairy liquid can’t believe I didn’t think the same about milk ha. Thank you sir you have saved me £70 on a separate gadget.
The only issue I have with this is the microwaving of the milk as there is no temperature control. Once milk passes 65 degrees it starts to break down and you end up with an almost burnt flavour from it which is irriversable. Maybe that's me being finicky but temperature control for both coffee and milk will make a huge difference to the coffee you get
Yes, it works. But you'll have inconsistent results, if you don't do it often enough. Also, depends on the milk you use. And you'll have a lot of dishes to clean 😢
So we actually have a milk frother that works like this, and it was a purchase from an op shop because someone mistook it for a french press (we were getting a replacement for a broken one). So far I've only used it to make Dalgona coffee 😅
To get better with pouring espresso shots what are you tios to make it flow at the same time? I weigh my grounds out to 14 g and then carefully tamper it then pop it into the machine. Is there anything else I could
Or just get an areolatte, battery powered, 🔋 no 35 micro pumps. I'd never get through that step😊. Love your channel and yes, you should go into business

Love it, been doing this for years already! 😅 seems to be a popular trick amongst coffee enthusiasts!
Drink up ☕️
I've done this and it's awesome
I thinks it better since the steam wand introduces water and dilutes the milk further. Correct me if I'm wrong
I love your mug
I tried it, it was pretty good. I don't have an espresso machine, but it seemed well enough with instant coffee. Drinkable at the very least.
Tried it out today after seeing it yesterday. And it really works:-) thank you so much for your tips!!!☕🥰 #coffeelover
