I’ve used the saw method you demonstrated but have also had a bit of success with modest heat, penetrating oil and using a screw extractor. Thx for your videos - as always very helpful.
I have not done a video on that yet. You can use a tuning slide expander, but you have to be very careful not to expand it too far which is very easy to do.
@@TheBrassandWoodwindShop Maybe I should send my horn to you so you can do a video!! ;-) Where can I get a tuning slide expander? I'm very new to instrument repair, and the only tools I have at this point are steel wire, a torch, and solder. None of these seem like the right tool for this job!
I have a getzen 700 eterna with a broken valve stem. All I have to do is unscrew it and replace it. However idk if all valve stems are the same size thread. Or will only Getzen valve stems work?? Anybody know?
Good job Art, very tedious work. Have a blessed night!

Thank you for mentioning that. It would be good to start with what you mentioned and move to the other method if it is too stuck.
I don't think I've seen a video on your channel for loose tuning slides. I have a loose tuning slide and wondering how to fix it. Excellent content!

If you would like, you can send it to me so I can do a video. Give me a call if you would like to do that and we can work out the details.
Have you ever tried ultrasonic cleaning ? Pj

How about boiling the aluminum out with hydrochloric acid? Would it compromise the integrity of the brass casing?
I do not know if that would work or not. It may eat away too much of the brass, but I am not sure'

I don't think so. I bought a valve repair kit for my daughter's Getzen 700 and some of the parts, including caps were the wrong size.
Seems like all parts are a long wait right now. Some instrument orders are even worse.
That must be a old horn
