Art, before deciding on the copper thickness, check with them on their recommendation for the minimum thickness of nickel. A quick internet search shows that most people say they can plate 1/2 thou, but recommend at least 1 thou. Keep in mind that 1 thou of plating will be 2 thou of diameter.

I was wondering about that and I probably should have checked on that first, but I figured that after I work with the valves and the casings, there should be enough space to work with. I am a little concerned about the valve that is about .003 tapered.

Hi Art! One hard metal and one soft metal makes the valves to a workable state, at least that’s what I’m getting. Thanks for keeping us in the loop. Have a blessed night with your sweet family!

Great video. I was very confused the first time I sent parts to Anderson. Their business model is strange but they do great work.

What is the advantage of copper and nickel layers, vs just nickel?

Nickel is a hard metal that does not wear down as quickly. Copper is easier to work down which will make the valve cylindrical a lot faster.

@@TheBrassandWoodwindShop and the nickel layer provides adiquate wear protection dispite being very thin. that's good to know, thank you.
