Baby Kissin with his beautiful child's face, soft wavy hair and limpid eyes with which he occasionally glances at the conductor, looks and sounds like an angel.
His prodigious technique and interpretation of the music is clearly seen. It's amazing to see and hear him carry the melodic line in such a mature way. But the most precious element in his performance (to me at least) is his "child-like simplicity", sincere and transparent in his approach. After all, he was only 13. Way to go, Kissin. God bless :)))
Absolutely share your view, i think exactly the same. Amazingly natural and simple yet lyric. (I even prefer this recording much more than the one from adult Kissin.)✌
i've watched this video a few times. these days during the 18th Chopin Competition the final stage, after watching a lot of the new blood performing this work, i decided to watch 13 years old Kissin again. Every century or so, we might see two or three pianists like him if we are lucky. That's how I feel about Kissin. He's more than a genius.
Yes, I classify him as a super genius. He is a finished pianist at age 13, as was Clara Schumann. By that I mean there was little if anything left to teach them. They were ready at 13 to amaze the world.
Exactly, there is something in his playing that's beyond just running his fingers on the keys playing a song, he's actually telling a story and taking you back to the 1800s. I honestly feel it every time I listen to his playing it's like meditation. It's just unexplainable how his delivery touches your most inner senses and takes you on the journey.
I was browsing at a record store back in the 90s and came upon a cassette album of him playing this piece at age 13. I decided to buy it and I'm glad I did. Very gifted child
Am so happy to have found this after 35 years! Had no idea a video still existed. Can scarcely believe the child’s genius and musicianship, and solemnity! After these 35 years I still feel the same about him. His innocence and honesty remain even in the face of all the fame.
Its cool enough to read that he started playing on a professional level at age 7 or so, but to actually see it is absolutely captivating. He'll be 50 this year and the passion is still burning as intense as ever .
