Hats off to Chopin for such beautiful music. Kudos to Kissin’s unrivaled interpretations right here! This is what you get when a romantic period genius meets a modern day genius.
The end of the concert when there are all these people that present flowers to Kissin, it's a scene of immense humanity were the audience feel the need to thank the Artist for all the deepest emotions he provided throughout the entire performance. And he gave everything he had to the audience, you can clearly see him totally exhausted! What a great Man and Artist he is! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Incredible camera work too! I love Russian audiences. They truly listen to appreciate music. The gifts of many flower bouquets to an artist is such a beautiful gesture.
One of the most philosophical and technically astounding pianist of our life time. His dedication to his music remained a pursuit of his amazing life. He dwells not on flambouyance but deep meaning of the music he played. Listen to his interviews and they echo what he is saying musically. Each word he utters was carefully chosen and so is his music.
As another said, “Listz breaks my fingers; Chopin breaks my heart.” Mr. Kissin when playing Chopin totally destroys my insides. Absolutely no one living plays Chopin better than Kissin and no one quite probably ever will in the future. He is truly a master. I can listen to this performance over and over again. His performance of what we now call ‘Wrong Note’ is nothing but masterful yet beautiful. The middle movement is heart wrenching. I have never heard it played with so much depth before and I most likely will never hear it like Mr. Kissin plays it unless I live to hear him live most notably in Houston. I am so glad this concert was recorded and can forever be heard on UA-cam.
Kissin's performance of these etudes is surely a landmark. It takes such physical stamina to play the piano with such passion and exactitude, yet he seems to do it so effortlessly. Bravo!
We are so blessed to have him in our generation! He is the master !! We all pale into insignificance when listening to this outrageous talent. Truly God was generous when he made him.
THIS, ladies and gentlemen, is what happens when an absolute, era-defining genius practices with such passion, efforts, persistence, and an unimaginable amount of time.

Awesome! I have several recordings of all Chopins Etudes, but none surpass these transcendental performances, where Kissin combines brilliant virtuosity with impeccable musicianship, that gives every note meaning.
On point!!! the Russian born Evengy Kissin is a poised rare gifted talent. His evening jacket, bowtie finger manifeso must've been a treat to observe. This guy flawlessly pulled off a mozart piece, ( mozart concerto in D minor) when he was a mere ten year old.
A prodigy for sure. Someone whom all the pianist, both upcoming and existing, look up to for inspiration. Thanks for sharing this with us. Beyond Bravo...
09:53 Love it. Worked on this, but didn't finish after half way through. Love Kissn's crescendos. Better than everyone's. This gives the piece more excitement, and makes it more dramatic. Kissin is a genus to me. This is encouraging to FINISH it. This is my fav etude.
Wow what talent, what absolute mastery of Chopin. !! I found myself clapping so loud at the end that my staff came to see if I was alright. His playing is heart-stoppingly beautiful. Bravo Kissin !!!!!
What amazes me as a life long non classically trained musician is just how many great classical pianists there are, all of whom can perform these Chopin etudes with almost equal skill. There will always be variations in styles and musicality and the " creme de la creme " will always stand apart, but so many others can also play these great pieces with great virtuosity. It is a great tribute to all the music schools piano teachers , training and coaching that is available all over the world. It is so sad that so many people who do not understand the piano do not realize what a great accomplishment it is to play any of these compositions without a mistake...to them the pianist may as well be running his fingers across a FLAT table...they have no idea how hard this all is and the complex fingering and chord structures and key signatures. Also, most people do not realize what an accomplishment it is physically to just play a series of these great piano busters one after the other at a concert. I am a life long multi sport athlete who was strong and in great shape and yet when I finally learned to feebly play some of Chopin's compositions I came to realize how hard it was just to have the finger strength and endurance to play any one of these Chopin etudes or his other compositions let alone play a concert for an hour an a half. One of the things that amazed me most about HOROWITZ is that even towards the end of life when he looked like a feeble old man and could barley walk and who even had trouble breathing...he could still play a concert for almost two hours and looked like he was hardly under any physical distress at all...AMAZING
Leon Maliniak It doesn’t matter if you are a sport athlete. Endurance is not about muscle strength, it’s about how you use these muscles most efficiently. If you use the muscles correctly you can play any Chopin etude with ease as many times in a row as you want to without getting tired at all.
There really aren't that many people that can play Chopin's etudes with equal skill. I don't consider Kissin to be the best, he's more or less someone with inhuman technical prowess but lacks the interpretive depth. Regardless, not many could even play these etudes on his level.

Same here. I love his left hand pinky when playing emotional beautiful melodic lines. His left pinky always harmonize with the melody. We are about the same age BUT I developed my left hand because of him.
The world today is full of splendid virtuosi, but this young man has to be considered King of Kings and Lord of Lords in that well populated realm. I've studied these pieces for over half a century off and on, and have given a good account of several in my time, but never have I -- or any of my colleagues -- produced a performance on this exalted plane. Frankly I doubt very much if Chopin, himself, ever heard his etudes played with such authority, such passion, such loving attention to detail, such beautiful phrasing, such marvelous control of dynamics, and such consummate ease. This is beyond mastery. Truly Kissin's playing verges on the Divine.

My God, his "Wrong Note Etude" interpretation was easily the best I've ever heard! I've never heard such a sincere tone quality and level of expressive phrasing like Kissin. He has such a wide dynamic range, and the way he used rubato during the middle section to connect the phrases was heavenly and lyrical. He is truly one of a kind
Ya, tremendous concert! Gorgeous music!! I especially love to see Mr. Kissin shake his head! All those “COOTIES” head for the hills! It’s always amazing to hear a pianist memorize all those notes! My only “claim-to-fame” when I was young (I’m 82 now) was playing & memorizing George Gershwin’s Rhapsody In Blue, all 32 pages! No problem then!!! “Ach du lieber, mein schatz” Evgeny!!!!!
Someone told me that the pinky of a pianist must be capable of drilling through wood. I never reached that level though. I have practiced until my nails bled, but it was probably because I cut my nails too short.
It always makes me smile the level of criticism these great men receive. Can we not just embrace it and enjoy the music? This music is alive so what if you hear the odd mistake these performers absolutely love this music and I think we're all blessed to be able to witness such greatness...just my ten pence worth

sometimes, while watching or listening to kissin play, i start crying. not because i'm jealous of his ability (although, who wouldn't be?), but because i am in so much awe of his ability and the emotion and passion he puts into his playing that my own emotions can no longer be contained. he is a truly magnificent artist.
While I agree his playing is magnificent, I would bet money it's the Chopin/Rach/Liszt pieces themselves that turn on the face faucet. I have such a hard time with this that I almost cannot listen to this music in public. I am not an attractive cry-baby.
I see all these comments... he's the best/so-and-so is better etc; I'm a musician (not in this league I might add!).... can we not just celebrate that there are so many extraordinary virtuosi, rather than turn music into some kind of sport? i totally agree with the comment of Hyramess HIRAMESS it is absolutely an accurate description of Evgeny Kissin performance of his favorite composer Chopin he is just incredible genius and virtuoso of a pianist.
WOW! I love Chopin Etudes and this guy really, really can play (imho) virtually all of them here with the correct interpretation, tempo, and above all emotion! The whole shabang. AWESOME!!
Fantastic. Wow. Breathless and wonderful. I have heard all of these many times. Played two of them badly, but I have never felt so awed. Thank you Mr Kissin. They just sound more exciting every time I hear them
This interpretation is completely out of this world! That etude op. 10 n° 4 is the best I've ever heard; it's exactly the con più fuoco possibile that Chopin intended. The op. 10 n° 12 is stunning as well. I wish I could play with such fury!
@Alexander Scriabin you believed that first comment in her video didn't you? It's not sped up, a sped up video would have the vibrations (specialy of an acustic piano) altered in a very obvious
A stunning concert by one of the great pianists, then still quite young. Russian audiences often can't help themselves when a performance really moves them. I love it!
The extremely difficult fourth Etude (C sharp minor)- not even in my wildest dreams could I imagine it being played so passionately and yet so cleanly and perfectly ! Chopin was writing a letter to his mother when Liszt walked in an started playing one Etude after another - Chopin wrote to his mother : "I don't know what my pen is scribbling because Liszt is playing my etudes. I wish that I could steal from him the way to play my own Etudes." What greater tribute can there away be to Liszt's playing? Chopin would have said the same had he heard Kissin!
It's not too bad that one. It's maybe a medium level one out of all 24 Chopin etudes. And you don't need to play it Kissin speed ;) Regular speed is also very good and you have more space for musicality at a slower tempo.

Pure Genius! Greetings from Poland 🙂
Undoubtedly skilful and abundant in emotion, really love this performance, hats off
Wow. Thank you. Wonderful.
Yes indeed He is miracle🎶😀
The speed and sustained power with which he despatches Op10 no 4 is just staggering. This is Kissin firing on all cylinders and it is a joy to watch.

I think 10-4 is so underrated. I love that Etude so much. 😍😍😍😍
@@henrydenner5448 actually, it’s quite overrated

Speed, dynamics, sensitive interpretation, absolute perfection! Chopin is smiling down on Evgeny!
WOW! I love Chopin Etudes and this guy really, really can play (imho) virtually all of them here with the correct interpretation, tempo, and above all emotion! The whole shabang. AWESOME!!
i adore him,and his hair lol...he's one of the few maestros whose hands and body movements actually add to my enjoyment.
I love to watch Gould play. I could turn off the sound and enjoy him playing.
Reno Raider Gould is a legend, he was not only great pianist, he was a gorgeous speaker too
Wonderful to watch this lovely performance with my wife tonight. Eats the live performance I heard last night!
Fabulous performance and video. Thank you !!
Un grande assoluto. Complimenti!
Fantastic. Wow. Breathless and wonderful. I have heard all of these many times. Played two of them badly, but I have never felt so awed. Thank you Mr Kissin. They just sound more exciting every time I hear them
That revolutionary etude is amazing
I think that's the best Op.10 No.4 I've ever seen or heard! Like an unstoppable force of nature...
un génie , je respire le grand air quand il joue. mille fois bravo, the best
wow, I search info about him, today is his birthday.
Happy birthday Evgeny Kissin
Comme ce sont des études, on voit que sa technique est superlative. Mais son expression, ça c'est magnifique. Souple, intense, profonde, vigoureuse.
Блестящее выступление! 👏🏻
Я под впечатлением! ❤️
The chromatic etude before Winter Wind sounds incredible. A true study indeed.
This interpretation is completely out of this world! That etude op. 10 n° 4 is the best I've ever heard; it's exactly the con più fuoco possibile that Chopin intended. The op. 10 n° 12 is stunning as well. I wish I could play with such fury!
Tiffany Poons interpretation is better imo
@Alexander Scriabin maybe though I prefer not to believe so, as she already played live in the Chopin competition and anywhere else
Have you all heard Frederic Chiu? His interpretation is not bad. His dynamics are otherworldly
@Alexander Scriabin you believed that first comment in her video didn't you? It's not sped up, a sped up video would have the vibrations (specialy of an acustic piano) altered in a very obvious
@Alexander Scriabin IT'S OBVIOUSLY A JOKE! SHE EVEN PUT AN EMOJI AT THE END!
Chopin would have said the same had he heard Kissin!
that piece is a damn hell
I totally agree. But play it slowly, at least. It is also Heaven :)
It's not too bad that one. It's maybe a medium level one out of all 24 Chopin etudes. And you don't need to play it Kissin speed ;) Regular speed is also very good and you have more space for musicality at a slower tempo.
The second is the hardest tbh
Exactly
Even Liszt would appreciate Kissin playing
ce ne sont pas que des études mais aussi des oeuvres admirablement interprétées ❤
Revolutionary etude.
I am surprised the grand
didn't catch fire
Mark Rymanowski yep
Yes...it is not the Clown Lang
Yo why are those lang haters just everywhere??? He didnt even mentioned him!! Fuck off snobs
volyum ismyname Ikr
10/4 is pure perfection, really can't recall a better rendition of it
Valentina's.
Perahia
I love 10-4 so much 😍😍😍
Me too✋ He is miracle🎶😍
A virtuoso is too small a word...Thank you, Evgeny!
Spectacular performance of my favorite compositions.
amazing as always kissin is one of the best ( or may i say the best today , musically and technically )
Hello one of the BEST...….THANKS
10-3 is magnificent. And followed by the legendary no. 4. This man(? could be a god) is a genius.
He is miracle and great👍❤
