It's true that no series is perfect, I love Capcom and Monster Hunter but i'm still going to laugh at their expense till the day I die regarding World's technical issues. This is for the fact that Insomniac did the thing that took Capcom struggled with for zorah magdaros, with a section of their team splintering off for that mechanic alone for a year. when Insomniac did the zorah magdaros physics issue, they solved it in a game that took them a year to make as a whole in 2003 so before MH1. This was also on a PS2 game so 2 console generations before World. @@yourdad5799imagine explaining to aliens (who realistically are aware of predator/prey relationships because life) allll about our history and then telling them about videogames. And we *didn't* have a successful videogame about hunting the very mythical monsters we told as bedtime stories for eons. I will always see MH1 as the first step
I clicked on this video without looking at the view count on the vid or the sub count on the channel. As I was watching, the humor, storytelling, commentary, and just overall video quality led me to believe that this video was produced by a channel with 10s or even 100s of thousands of subscribers. I was quite surprised to see a smaller channel responsible for a level of quality I normally only associate with massive youtubers (not that nearly 500 subs is anything to scoff at either, congrats on making it this far 💯). Great video and I hope to see you gain lots of subscribers and recognition in the future as the quality of your videos definitely deserves it. 🙌
This was where I started my journey as a Hunter ! Monster Hunter on PS2, when I was 10 years old 🤣 in 2006 and I've spent 2 weeks preparing myself to kill my first ever wall as a GREEN HUNTER, a Yian Kut Ku... it was brutal, but that part in my life shaped the person I am today, a proud HBG main until today, 28 years old and Wilds is just right around the corner !
My best friend and I have a running joke with Yian Kut-Ku. We personally don't particularly care for Kut-Ku or Garuga, but every now and then we'll see people express so much love for them. We're always surprised by it and always say the line "It's some people's favorite monster...". After playing MH1, I think I understand why. You end up fighting this monster SOOOO much. The game has a limited number of quest and Kut-Ku takes up like 3-4 of them. He's the first real hunt, so players might have to fight him a couple of times before they can beat him. Kut-Ku also has the standard wyvern skeleton and is easy to use as training for the harder monsters. He's an easy enough hunt and his parts sell for a good chunk of cash. Then of course, he gets the added benefit of having Gen 1 nostalgia tied to him. All-in-all, I've come to the conclusion that every Kut-Ku/Garuga fan......is a Stockholm Syndrome victim lol
For me personally, why kut-ku become a running joke for me and my friends was because kut-ku always become a testing monster whenever we have a new weapon. With how he have a basic moveset of big wyvern like rathian and rathalos, but have quite a small damage compared to them, and with a compact size, he just become the perfect monster to test new weapon. I still remember whenever we came to area 9 and he just come out from the small passage from the right, and we proceed to bully him, lol.
I miss classic monster hunter. The prep and making sure you didn't run out of materials made it feel way more rewarding. At this point, the new games feel like hack and slashers.
I totally understand the sentiment. I wish restocking at camp would be removed. I feel like that change alone would make hunts significantly more intense. All in all, I love both Classic and Modern. Classic ran for so long that there is a crazy amount of games, with an even crazier amount of monsters, to enjoy. It almost feels like an endless well of content when each weapon gives you a completely different experience as well.
@@MostlyPositiveChannelI think about it this way. When our ancestors were hunting with sticks and stones, I'm sure they rotated people out in order to take rests. It seems goofy in MH bc parties are limited to 4 people, but imagine a hunting group of 16+ trying to hunt buffalo, mammoths, etc. Animals like those are absolute tanks and they take alot to take down, being in combat with them for 30 mins would be tiring as shit and I'm sure they would've rotated in and out in order to guarantee the highest rate of survival. In terms of restocking, I'm sure they had a couple people carry supplies and that's how they restocked but that just doesn't work in MH. Imagine your sole job in the game is being the bitch that carries the supplies... yea, no thanks. All in all, I feel like the MH series has captured the idea of "the hunt" to absolute perfection and making it more difficult than it already is would be redundant. Imagine no restocks while learning MHW Fatalis or Raging Brachy... yea I'm good.
Lance in MH1 is incredibly strong at it can attack both blunt and cutting hitzones (with no negative mod for blunt in Gen 1) and in MH1NA you can cancel hops with another poke making it once of the fastest attacking weapons.
It was so hilarious to me finding out that one of the most dunked on weapons in the franchise turns out to be HANDS DOWN the most powerful weapon in the original, and arguably, one of the hardest entries in the series
@CanadianAdim did you guys do the headlock exploit too? I've just got back into MH (only played one as a kid and tri in college) and I'm surprised no one has brought up the headlock exploit lol. Maybe it wasnt as well known as I thought? But Def made the Lance a must have by at least one in the party.
@@alexbernard6220 Oh head locking is certainly still used to this day. Just get a Undertaker or Black Dragon Spear and you only need to poke Raths twice in the head to stagger them in the JP version. Should be 3 pokes to stagger them in the NA version or if you have 2 people you can joke stagger them repeatedly by hitting them in the wings, which is also how we cheese silver and gold raths in MHG.
@@CanadianAdim no shot? Can you do similar things in world/iceborne? I'm redoing that before wilds comes out, was never really a fan of the in-between ones with the more arcade style so I didn't pick up rise.
I came across your video on my UA-cam home page and just wanna say: Thank you for this type of content and for taking the time to make it. I had a great time watching it throughout without skipping it because your commentary was straight to the point and funny to listen to watching this video while working and doing my job on my home office hahaha
Thank you so much for saying this! I try to make the types of videos that I like to watch and the #1 thing that annoys me is when creators take ages to get to the point. This video was originally going to be MUCH longer, but a long video does not make a good video. It means a lot to me that you enjoyed it all the way through! ✌
No it isn’t? The first hunt is 3 velociprey. You only fight one velocidrome later. It is brutal as hell though. Between the limited moveset, janky hitboxes and extremely tight inventory space, Gen 1 is definitely the hardest to go back to by far.
dont forget about the ledgend of plesioth hip check! .. although my frist brick wall i ecounter was with khezu.. took me few days to beat that electgric cheese
things i remember from the original mh ps2: -the pain to farm herbs and blue mushrooms to get potions until you defeat the first monoblos -there was not a dual swords craft until you upgrade the sword and shield -you cant predict which skills you get until you craft the full armor set -the last quest offline mode was rathalos+ and rathian+, you can get plates from them -you only had 2 pages in the item box -max sharp color was green -you cant see how much elemental damage can do the elemental weapons -the best weapon was fatalis lance and you needed 5 los plates to get it i really loved this game
Welp, my first monster hunter game is the first one and watching it still being played is such great nostalgia, the only problem is that my brother took my ps2 everytime I try to play the game, but I'm so happy that I get to play all the series through my pc and love every moment of it, hope to see everyone in monster hunter wilds
The series absolutely gets the most love from PC players. Having every game playable, plus tons of private servers. It's been a blast seeing Capcom comment on how important the PC market is since World's release a while back.
Ahh rathalos rathian the king and queen of area 9, nothing like getting bombarded with fireball with nowhere to run while the camera fucks you up, and rathian just blocked the narrow way then spin herself vertically. I remember just chilling in that secret hole till they went back to area 10
im surprised by how you made me watch a 27min video without skiping a single second more than ratholos braindead hitboxes you earned a sub dude w video
This is where it al started for me. Playing online back then was wild, me and my younger brother would take turns to play online as we had just one PS2. I have some cherished memories of when we finally both got full kut-ku gear. Of course, that was just the start! I used a greatsword and my brother used a heavy bowgun. Great video dude!
That's awesome man! I really envy those who got to start at the very beginning. Those were also the EARLY days of playing online on console, so that must have been cool!
I love seeing people go back to the 1st game, it was my very first game playing online on the ps2 back in 2003 and i've been a MH lover ever since that year. I remember playing online the max HR was 20 and if you were able to get a good 4 stack to fight Fatalis online and get all of his gear, the lance was the most broken weapon to use offline because you could essentially headlock any monster after 3 hits on the head except for Lao Shun Lung and Fatalis himself. If you really want to experience one of the greatest MH games, Freedom Unite is clunky just like the first game but expands in every aspect as far as creativity and longevity.
I remember being so hyped when they announced this game. I read the article in the physical copy of game informer magazine over and over. Farming the velocidrome and Kelbi horns for hours to get cash. That was the last monster Hunter I played until World.
Fun fact (personal experience) of monster hunter 1, i played on ps2: for the powderstone quest i ended up using 35+ mins killing the gravios and cleaning the whole map thrice so that i could delived said powderstone safely
The fact that i finished this game while being so young still amazes me, i remember we printed maps of the zones whit a friend to see where you could find ore and shit, and i remember the feeling finishing the quest "the troublesome pair" and then the feeling of i cant believe i made it just before jumping into mh dos that one was a blast too and for me the hardest most stupid quest was the eggs quest in the volcano. just dam. and then the adventure of where to find "monster fluid" was interesting to say the least, i remember i farmed those using the basarios who poison vespoids and then the vespoids drop to the ground and u have a chance to get monster fuild. amazing series im in love sill like the first day.
@@salazzar5631 I played with my brother and a couple.kids from the neighborhood. They all got the Fatty armor and weapons. I got the weapon, but in an attempt to be "unique" I wanted a different armor set. The hornetaur armor set was like 1% worse than the fatty at the time so I said yup that lnes for me. Proceeded to spend a week killing hornetaurs because 9 out of 10 would break open lol. It's so much easier with the slinger now, but I miss those days cuz it made the hornetaur armor being super powerful actually make sense since it was such a grind
@@alexbernard6220 props yo you bro the hornetaur sets and the vespoid were the hardest i always went for the looks so the rathalos one was my go to haha
I had 15 hours of footage and that was the first piece I randomly came across where I was combining. That must have been the first instance of using the book of combos in a hunt and finding out how it worked 🤣
@@MostlyPositiveChannel it's even worse when a melynx steals book 1 from you in the middle of a fight. In area 9 of course. On a different note, you should have given hammers another chance as I could down a rathalos faster with Bone Broadaxe than with the Siegmund ^^
Ive seen this vid in my recommended for a while and i just now realized this video was about the first monster hunter game and not just monster hunter the franchise
I played every Monster Hunter Game launched in europe, but absolutely fell in love in MH FU on my psp. So many good memories... I will never forget the anger i had when getting gangbanged by 75843 bullfangos or velocipreys at the same time. Good ol days
Thanks and I absolutely will! I typically stream the games that will be featured on the channel. Monster Hunter will be regular streams over on Twitch. Thank you so much for your support!
I'm into those series since the first game on PS2. The only game franchize that never failed to me. It´s great have a look back and see how the games have improved! *But you get some vietnam flashbacks in return* -Bullfagos charges... Cats stealing your shiet... Egg dellivers...Plesioth Hipcheck-
Thanks, and that's the long-term plan! I stream a variety of things on Twitch, but Monster Hunter is something that I always go back to regularly. If you want to see regular MH content, that's the place to check out 👍
MH1 was where I started back in 05. and honestly that's what got me hooked. it was hard and challenging but also rewarding. my word of advice to people playing it for the first time: LEAVE THE AREA WHEN YOU WANT TO HEAL OR SHARPEN!. I loved that game, but I love the qol improvements more lol would to go back to Kokoto Village some day with the modern improvements to gameplay and graphics.
Same here fellow hunter! Though, I never got too far. It took me so long to really get the game. It was so complex and hard for its time. I got up to Khezu or so. I played Freedoms 1,2 and 2G and got to high rank, started to get it. But Tri/3U is what really made things click! I never beat Alatreon though lol (not solo at least).
I started playing monster hunter 3 on the psp. And ever since then there hasn't been a single game that could fill in the niche that Mh does. I've loved the game ever since and whenever a game comes out in a console that I have. I automatically have to buy it. I think this is a game that really can stand the test of time.
Attacking with what should obviously be the camera control while getting absolutely bullied by the camera doing whatever the hell it wants is so hilarious
Thank you so much, that means a lot to me. It takes a long while to produce and edit these videos, but I do stream a lot of Monster Hunter on Twitch if you ever wanna drop by
my first interaction was with freedom 2 on the psp and i was just a little boy and i fell in love instantly since then i played 3 Ultimate 4 Ultimate Generation World/Iceborn Rise/Sunbreak my childhood was about Animes like dragonball, onepiece... AND Games like Monster Hunter even tho it was a hard time while noone i knew played or even knew what Monster Hunter is :c but it was and is the best ive ever played or at least i loved the most i dont even think Half life 3 could top it... This vid brang me back to the good old time thx for the Nostalgia
Monster Hunter Freedom Unite Perfected this classic formula and is still be favorite Monster Hunter game. So much content and awesome monsters to hunt. So many hours in middle school of my buddies yelling in a group fighting monsters. Need to get around to playing the 3DS monster hunters as I've heard they are good but didn't want to play them on my 3DS.
I played MH 1 when there was no other than maybe MH 2 but that game didn't make to the west. Some years after I played Freedom Unite and that was quite an upgrade in quality of life changes.
My first experience with monster Hunter was Monster Hunter: Freedom on PSP. I actually beat my first big monster, Kut Ku, with a light bow gun. Then went greatsword and never looked back.
Now I understand why they implemented the dog in the newer game to prevent your stamina from dropping maybe the people start to complain how slow the travel between different maps takes a long time and it’s really annoying to walk very slow to conserve your stamina for monsters fighting.
Even though it can take a while for a video to come out, I try to make something that I can be proud of. You're words mean a lot to me, thank you so much!
Thanks for the support man! Believe me, I've never been more excited for VR than I am right now and I'm excited to share some fun videos with everyone ✌
Started my monster hunter journey with MH tri on the wii and have played every game since then although I’m still absolutely useless at them and as of yet are still to fully complete any of them….really looking forward to wilds though
MHFU, the updated version of Freedom, was my first MH game and I gotta say, its close enough to the OG that I knew all of the challenges you were going to say since you still have a lot of those still in the game but its adds enough QoL features that it smooths out all of those issues you mentioned. I still miss the struggle but the convenience to JUST HUNT in the newer games makes up for it. I LOVE this series!
I feel like MH is at its best when the hunts themselves are a struggle but you have easy access to the tools you need to handle that struggle. Even just Having a farm in freedom and freedom unite is one of the most essential additions to avoid hours of farming frustration so we can focus on the best part of the game more.
@@HunterForHire422 Agreed, we've had farms since but the FU farm is the best imo. Little bit of mining, farming, bug catching, honey production, it has it all! I wish we'd get that again in some way
Area 9 was the bomb for killing rathalos! You could just hide up above in the little cave area and swing away at Rathalos without taking any damage! I played this game as a 10yo kid and couldn't beat the gypceros until I was 12 with the lance.... 2 years to progress past the first few stages! Must have killed the Yian Kut Ku 100 times
0:55 I don't quite agree with the distinction between "Classic" and "Modern". The split from 2nd to 3rd gen was just as big as 4th to 5th, it was a full reset with a lot of QoL changes and a complete revamp of models, animations and hitboxes (Specifically between MHFU and MHTri). There's currently 3 "eras" of MonHun, only having 2 is recuctive. Imagine that in 10 years people will call 1st to 8th gen "Classic" games. Relatively it wouldn't be incorrect I guess, but doesn't really fit historically.
XZeroik on youtube has a series similar to this, and he discovered that youre able to manually add the online quests to the quest list, allowing you to play them offline. Granted the scaling is pretty brutal, but its better than not being able to play. You can even beat our dear friend hidden behind the big ? if youre insane enough. Id love to see you play the hub quests as well.
I regularly play Monster Hunter on Twitch. I'm trying to get through Monster Hunter G to make a follow up to this vid at some point. I actually typically stream the games I'd like to cover on the channel. So if you'd like, check out the Twitch channel some time. The community discord also helps give reliable notifications for when I go live on Twitch, as well as for all my projects on and off this channel.
awesome vid bro. i think this sort of goes to show that the "mh games didnt get harder, you just got better" argument doesnt hold much water. anyone who says rise isnt the easiest mainline monster hunter game is pretty clearly wrong.
Do you think you could try out the Toukiden games too? They're also in the hunting game genre, but they are considerably easier, have a decent story, NPCs that fight alongside you and much more. I even played them before I knew Monster Hunter existed.
There's an old saying that goes along the line of: "Everyone quits their first Monster Hunter game... but they always come back" Well, happened with me 😅 first one I played was 4U, but dropped and got back into the series with Rise 😊
Lol I was lucky to start with my best friend. I very good friend of ours who loves Monster Hunter guided us in our first session too. I had a pretty smooth intro for a series that is notoriously difficult to get in. It's now my favorite series of all time 👍
Lol thank you so much. Honestly I was so shocked at how easy Plesioth was for me. I expected it to be the worst version of Plesioth, but his head is WIDE OPEN for an attack right after his hip check. Rathalos was significantly harder.
MH1 was one of the first MH games I've played, and it was hard I only got to Cephadrome, then forgot about it a few years and continued my journey in MHFU. Those egg quests placed me in therapy and anger management classes
Lol the egg quests super suck. I didn't get a chance to mention it, but the game actually puts small monsters like the Velociprey where there weren't any to begin with AFTER you pick up the first egg. So the area right outside camp on the first map with the harmless Aptonoth are suddenly replaced with hyped up Velociprey right when you thought you were safe. Gen 1...is an experience lol
Some scribes of old claim that lance was OP in this game and Capcom's fear of it ever since is why it's always been near or at the bottom till this day. Just imagine, a game that controls like ass and a weapon that can actually tank with a simpler move set/gaemplay, that leaves very little openings to be hit, and not trash tier damage. Sounds like god tier to me lol. Yeah one of the most infamous things in the series is the small monster AI of gen 1 and bullfango as its poster boy... Until Rise had him take the same weed they gave ratahlos with very different results. One of them is way too mellow and the other um forgets he has feet... Or at least forgot that said feet can poison you. Also, let's not forget the nightmare that is cephedrom and gen 1 rathalos refusing to stay in the a part of the zone where you can actually hit them for most of the quest so you are very likely to time out in a 50 minute quest.
Eu adoro mh1 minha relação do jogo é amor e ódio, queria ver mais gente do Brasil falando dele mais enfim.. bom vídeo amigo gostei bastante e o rathalos é insuportável mesmo The game is love and hate, I would like to see more people from Brazil talking about it, but anyway... good video friend, I really liked it and Rathalos is really unbearable hahaha ❤️
The powderstone quest alone should be used as the prime example of why it's okay to use save states. I completely understand why some people don't like them, but that quest might be the most BS thing in all of gaming. Ultimately, it's your game and it's your time. Who cares what others think. The only thing that matter is living your life the way you want to live it.
If anyone wanna try the old monster hunter games that aren't as hard and frustrating…just try 3rd ultimate or portable version Even playing Freedom Unite can be a painful experience (just a heads up)
Thank you so much, that's very kind of you to say. I really want to cover every single Monster Hunter game in the same way I did with this one. Giving as much insight on the title with my personal experienced mixed in. These vids take a long time to make, but I do regularly stream Monster Hunter over on Twitch. There's still so much about Gen 1 I couldn't talk about because half the game is locked to servers that don't exist anymore. Thanks to private servers, I'm able to play the Japanese exclusive Monster Hunter G. Dos will definitely come, but just later down the line. And you can bet I'll be streaming all of these games too!
Ohh, i remember well when i was first introduced too what is now my favorite franchise, just randomly picked it up at a electronics store game department. It has changed so much over the years but i still remember the old clunky classic. Even the weapon controlls with the thumbsticks. Hope upcoming Wilds brings more greatness too the franchise! One appreciates the new games more when you have played the very early ones, when your hand isnt held all the time, at least thats my opinion. Lets be honest if you played any MH game before and went on too Rise, much like me you probably breezed through most of the games low rank quest untill Magnamalo. Now we have palico's to divert attention too escape deadly combo's, wirebug escapes, clutch claw in World. When you dive back in the original MH now id expect anyone too struggle.
I started with my best friend in 3U and have made so many good memories. 10 years later and we're still hunting and looking forward to each game that comes out.
@@MostlyPositiveChannel MH is always a franchise i recommend when people ask me for a genuine, no bullshit game that really gives value for money. 1 thing i really appreciate from the MH dev team is that they dont try too lure you too the shop with countless of skin purchases being slammed into your face in every menu or after every quest. Sure emote, sticker and skin packs are available but ones experience isnt deminished one single bit by not having them. So far they are doing a good job for not tainting the MH experience with offering shortcuts, like double your rewards by buying this extra carving knife such as in MH Now. Main MH games has always been pretty generous with resource packs especially at launch of a new title, and with every sales milestone. I hope they will stay on that road for Wilds because i, like many others probably have big expectations for it.
Pokémon used to be my favorite franchise. I still love it with all my heart, but every release after Sun and Moon felt...kinda lazy with the exception of Legends and kinda sorta with Scarlet/Violet. Within the past 2 years I realized that the only series that has consistently become better with every release is Monster Hunter. And then you can throw on the fact that the older titles are still extremely fun to play.
7:20 whoever made area 9 is going to area 9 in hell 13:37 a lot of zones have small monster max respawns and a lot of them are 99. 14:04 now look at worlds roster- 15:20 (ish) 0 active skills matter in mh1 bar anti wind because ur then immune to farts 17:20 FLAAAAAAAASH bomb 18:11 he is the easiest monster in the game. 23:15 he's right don't, go play freedom unite you lose nothing from skipping to it. Weapon power does change drastically between the releases of mh1 and it's iterations, 1JP has only a postgame volcano and gypceros has no "kill/capture" offline, so it's very powerful SNS is off limits, the volcano being postgame means no rusted sns which is, the best SNS in the game. gs doesn't appreciate the swamp in 1jp being postgame only as you can trade medium monster bones for machalite and then perform "seppuku" on the bullfango to farm it faster than literally anything else. rathian is unavailable offline in 1jp outside of troublesome pair and uh yeah she's okay I guess. plesioth also falls under the "no direct kill quest, but exists offline" but it's best weapon it's GS cannot be made in LR anyway so it doesn't matter. and again, go play FU instead 👍
Wealth of knowledge! Thanks for sharing. Generation 1 is so interesting to me, but information on it is really hard to come by. Most of the time when you try to search up something for Gen 1, Google will give you links to Freedom Unite. I hope my video helps remedy that a little bit. When I cover G and Freedom 1, I hope to give even more insight on things I had to skip or only glossed over in this video.
I very recently played this game on ps2 with the goal of beating monoblos, needless to say I didn’t get there, I quit after beating cephadrome, it took about 25 hours of playtime to get there and it was fucking brutal, I was forcing myself to play the game and ultimately decided I hated what i was doing, everything is tedious, monotinous and every thing that can go wrong will go wrong, everything works against you. This game genuinely feels like it wasn’t designed to be played. I felt proud that I managed to get as far as I did but I had to quit for the sake of my sanity, maybe I’ll try it out on an emulator one day and be able to enjoy it more.
100% dude. I would never knock someone for using "cheats" to enhance their experience. To me it's no different than using mods in game for quality of life features. Some older games genuinely need them to be fair or enjoyable. Plus there are waaaay too many great games out there to spend all your time forcing yourself to play a single one.
@@MostlyPositiveChannel You don't need cheats to beat MH1. Craft deathprize or poison battle axe, git good, and beat the entire offline mode. You don't even need armor if you git good. Or if you're willing to do some extra grinding then craft undertaker and play easy mode.
100%! Monster Hunter is my favorite series. It won't be super common though, because these videos take a good while to make. To be fair, they most certainly didn't have it to start. I joined the private server discord well before I actually ended up playing the game and I remember seeing a post saying they were excited to announce they got the Kirin quest working.
Lol yeah someone else was wondering too. It makes sense that's it's a little difficult to find. It was part of Capcom's 2023 TGS Livestream. Neither the Capcom Channel or the Monster Hunter Channel ever uploaded it as its own separate trailer. If you type in "Monster Hunter 20th Anniversary Trailer" into the search bar it comes up as the second entry for me. Remember, it won't be an upload from an official Capcom Channel.
I finished it recently. I used speedhacks and savestates, I killed Monoblos, I'm done with this one. The controls (camera especially) are just too annoying for me. It's a wonder this game got sequels (and I'm glad it).

Even better: if you’re considering playing mh1, don’t 💀
@@Eaghan_Bester nah the game is a lot of fun with multiplayer.
@@Eaghan_Bester yea it makes you wonder how this shit didn't get axed after 1 game 💀
When I was a kid I use to watch all the monster intro video I like how realistic they where.
They're really fun to watch. The pre-rendered ecology vids are the absolute best. The khezu ecology vid is horrifying
Same here! I also remembered watching in awe all the MH Frontier updates
Book of combos 3 without 1 and 2 in the inventory does nothing. :D
Happens to me all the time.... It's because MH community is the best 🎉
Never before have I seen an oncoming horde of cats be a source of dread.
My dude I was the exact same but I think I was 12 lmao
@@MostlyPositiveChannel Once you get Undertaker it's smooth sailing until you get to Fatalis where you get an even stronger lance.
I remember getting stuck on Rathalos. The flying poison attack has a bs hitbox and every time he pulls it off I get carted
Started playing Monster Hunter Freedom and it's fucking brutal, the first hunt is three Velocidrome.
Be wary of egg quests comrade. It's absurd with the amount of mobs.
No it isn’t? The first hunt is 3 velociprey. You only fight one velocidrome later.
It is brutal as hell though. Between the limited moveset, janky hitboxes and extremely tight inventory space, Gen 1 is definitely the hardest to go back to by far.
This was my first Monster Hunter Game and the only one I never completed, of the ones I've had.
It is brutal my dude.
@@Keyring7031 idk I can't find that, but I'm probably wrong

things i remember from the original mh ps2:
-the pain to farm herbs and blue mushrooms to get potions until you defeat the first monoblos
-there was not a dual swords craft until you upgrade the sword and shield
-you cant predict which skills you get until you craft the full armor set
-the last quest offline mode was rathalos+ and rathian+, you can get plates from them
-you only had 2 pages in the item box
-max sharp color was green
-you cant see how much elemental damage can do the elemental weapons
-the best weapon was fatalis lance and you needed 5 los plates to get it
i really loved this game
Great video, keep it up[! Brought back a lot of nostalgia and the gameplay and commentary was engaging.
Thank you so much!
The biggest thing I notice when playing older games is how long it took to get cameras to be team players.
Fun fact (personal experience) of monster hunter 1, i played on ps2: for the powderstone quest i ended up using 35+ mins killing the gravios and cleaning the whole map thrice so that i could delived said powderstone safely
I remember playing this on my PSP when I was 9yrs old and hooked me up on the later series, planning to buy wilds soon

Dude I would LOVE to see all the old villages with modern graphics! I think I would die from nostalgia

I remember playing FU on PSP it was pain. but I'm glad I got so into it even my friends wanted to try it and they ended up getting addicted.
first monhun game I played was Freedom Unite, it's an amazing game and still holds up if you like old monster hunter

There's an old saying that goes along the line of:

We've all been wasted by an offscreen boar at some time playing Old School Monster Hunter before.
@@MostlyPositiveChannel Those boulders blocking you were the real monsters of Monster Hunter
Only true veterans know about MH1 lance head locking plate runs.
Oh god, I probably have hours of extra footage of Rathalos just flying in circles outside of the map
Started mine MH1- currently on MH rise.
Eu adoro mh1 minha relação do jogo é amor e ódio, queria ver mais gente do Brasil falando dele mais enfim.. bom vídeo amigo gostei bastante e o rathalos é insuportável mesmo

I remember it took me months to complete the powderstone quest back then
The powderstone quest alone should be used as the prime example of why it's okay to use save states. I completely understand why some people don't like them, but that quest might be the most BS thing in all of gaming. Ultimately, it's your game and it's your time. Who cares what others think. The only thing that matter is living your life the way you want to live it.

Wth does the G in G-rank stand for?

Good vid here's a comment to encourage the youtube gods
They could have at least ported 3U and 4U to switch. Even just 3U could've been nice
MH1 is the reminder from 2002 that you ain't shit. Feeling a little too cocky? Play MH1. It will humble you really quick.
People fighting monsters no politics just smash
Early MH series have severe cancer! I bet that if Capcom releases Plesioth and Cephadrome in Wilds everyone will have PTSD! LOL
Love your content!
Thank you so much, that means a lot to me! Honestly, I would LOVE to see Plesioth return. Along with underwater combat!!!
MH 1 is worth playing for anyone who wants to improve on their skills.
Mostly positive@ are you gonna do the other monster hunter games?
100%! Monster Hunter is my favorite series. It won't be super common though, because these videos take a good while to make. I have another MH vid on my channel that deals with depression, and 1 more on my music channel on Pokke Village Theme so far. If you want regular Monster Hunter content then stop by my streams on Twitch. I want to cover as much of the series as possible so I'll usually be streaming the games I plan to cover! Discord is also the best way to keep up with my content across all my channels
Kirin isn't available on private servers either, as it was an event quest
I checked the other day, the private server discord does have Kirin available online
Really? I was told otherwise 😕
I don't know if that's good or bad news though considering his reputation in gen 1 😅
To be fair, they most certainly didn't have it to start. I joined the private server discord well before I actually ended up playing the game and I remember seeing a post saying they were excited to announce they got the Kirin quest working.
hi @mostlypositivechannel, do you still have the original video in the intro? I've been looking for it
Lol yeah someone else was wondering too.
@@MostlyPositiveChannel I see, all I can find of it was with horrible resolution how sad
Dw everyone who played it understands the hatred for area 9
I finished it recently. I used speedhacks and savestates, I killed Monoblos, I'm done with this one. The controls (camera especially) are just too annoying for me. It's a wonder this game got sequels (and I'm glad it).
Congrats, and that's completely fair man 👍
