Joe is interesting to me because he knows a little bit, about everything. You can discuss anything with him, and he knows when to be a student and when to be the lecturer. He embraces his own knowledge and doesn't go on and on about topics he has no knowledge about, he rather asks questions, listens and learns. @@mome6889 Actually humor is a characteristic that usually belongs in smart people. And having a self-esteem is also permitted in smart people ya know. It's true that the so called Dunning-Kruger effect exists, and in abundance, especially today with the media, but it's not mandatory to consider yourself dumb if you're smart, and I'd even say it would be hypocritical to say you don't like to be called smart, we all do, smart or dumb, it's just inevitable. In fact there are people that somehow follow an imperative of pretending not to like it and trying to believe, but that's usually just what it is, because deep down they do want to considered smart, and have just known about that same effect.
"They have a real hate for being lied to" This is exactly why I love how you do your show. 13:17 Ever since I left my parents house, some 15 years ago, I have never had a TV in my house. People still marvel sometimes when I tell them this. Never looked back.
I have exactly the same scenario. Haven't had tv channels in 15 years. Started accidentally, but I soon found out it was as blessing instead of a burden.
Both of those are wrong. Open-minded or curious or willing to learn or non-pretentious would all be more suited. But Joe doesn't strike me as so objective that that's the one thing that stands out about him. Not even close.
the fact that so many people are sitting down and watching these long philosophical discussions gives me a lot of faith in humanity. joe rogans podcasts are immensely helpful.
Its as if more and more people are searching for the truth because they got so tired of smelling the whiffs of the bullshit that came their way going, wait a fucking minute here. Of course that was the truth. We knew we weren’t crazy after all. Lolz. 😂😊
I agree. Joe is an excellent interviewer. His audience many times learns with him. A professional kick-boxer would have to study their opponents. Maybe he took some of that skill into the studio.
Along with style, Joe Rogan's success is due in big part to the sheer variety of his guests. There's just something for everyone. Wide market. You can be interested in 10 types of people or just one. Discover new things. And then of course you get to listen to it for as long as you're interested.
Little did I know a Mycologist talking about fungus and all of the different things you can use it to cure would end up being one of my favourite guests.
It's amusing when Joe's critics say that he "agrees with whatever his guest says". Letting your guest have their say (which is probably why they showed up) is not the same as "agreeing", a fact which is lost on a lot of people these days. They want to see a fight, with their emotional stand-in scoring a knockout, or at least a win. It isn't Joe's style.
Joe got the Spotify deal mainly through interviews like this one. When Jordan endorses you.... right in front of you.... it helps when negotiating time comes. It certainly doesn't hurt. This was a shining moment for Joe. One of his best interviews. Well done, well played sir....
This is an extremely important discussion. I did a project on this in high school more than 20 years ago where I tried to elucidate the crisis in the media landscape. I pointed out that the tendency for non-nuanced discussion and sensation journalism was a potential danger and corruption of the fourth power. The TV-series "The Newsroom" came closest to show what I really meant with "objective journalism", but now the fall of subjective journalism is happening for real. Fascinating!
The Truth it's interesting you say that because although you're obviously referring to the ease at which Mr. Peterson seemed to make his analysis of Mr. Rogan, you may have also realized that Dr. Seuss clothed many great, complex concerns and ideas through the imaginative stories we have all come to know, which is precisely how Mr. Peterson has described Joe Rogan.
Joe's as smart as a nat if a natural was a mat on a wet floor in a room with no doors and wooden floors, but if all the nats were as smart as Donald trump, sounded like his rump, well then no one would question why he to a dump in your store.... Lol
I think what it comes down to is a couple of things. Being a great conversationalist, having interesting guests, but mainly allowing for true and honest conversation without any chance for misrepresentation - something we see way to often in mainstream media. Allowing people to convey their opinions through the longform style of a podcast is a great way to really get to know someone, and Joe is completely conscious of this. I made a video looking at this topic too, also covering why podcasts in general have become so popular!
I love these conversations. They make me much better, in many ways. I tried telling a bunch of hard lefty relatives(as well as people online) to just listen to podcasts. It's so damn apparent that "old media" manipulates, and strate up lies. Podcasts are where it's at, if you really want to understand who someone is, or to understand something better in general. Reading is good too, but podcasts are much less time consuming and you can listen at work.
It's like that who would you have to dinner living or dead, Dr Peterson, Sam Harris, Einstein, St Francis, and Lord and lady Baden Powell.. and Zach Ravi..
@Elreypachuco That is the good of goggins, jolt of energy! As a matter of fact, I think his speech is secondary, he learn to speak so he can educate masses about his experience. His motto is actually do it and stay hard, he is really a hands on guy, it is your fault to understand him of his words, he is the one that needs to understand by his actions rather than words!
Samuel Ntim-Addae I am all for this. If you're looking for a program...... If you want to look like an athlete you have to train like an athlete. @athleanx
Leave it to JP to crystallize joe’s success, I’ve never really understood why I can’t stop watching? I just think the variety of Rogan’s interest is so compelling. He is so intellectually curious and in a totally genuine “nondouchey” Way. I hope he can do it forever!
I absolutely love how deliberate JP is with his word choice. He speaks very literally and even defines his own words to further explain his stance. Too many people just speak inaccurately and expect others too “know what I mean” . People dont understand this level of communication and thats why he gets misrepresented so much.
Journalism has been falling apart for a long time. I was a journalism major in high school and a few semesters of college in the late '80s and early '90s. I talked to a lot of journalists, and a lot of them jokingly referred to the editor as the "state censor", but too many of them didn't seem to be joking or smiling when they said it. It was also around this time that the network news began to unravel. One example that I remember is when ABC or NBC claimed that Chevy trucks would explode on side-impact. It wasn't true, so the network stuck a model rocket engine in the trucks gas tank to make it explode, but got caught.
The New York Times posted a job advertisement in India specifically requiring for the person to be idealogically against the current prime minister and his government's perspectives. When a newspaper makes it a prerequisite for you to be biased for you to be hired, it says a lot about how far out they are.
I used to watch their workout videos and enjoyed them very much. I’ve seen them talking politics lately, if they were to come on this podcast do you think they’d want to mostly talk politics or are they more diverse than that?
My goodness, Joe is a national treasure -- my dear Dad, who never gave advise, just days before he died of cancer in 1980 told me that being able to sit down with experts in any field and talking would be incredible -- these Podcasts are incredible!

Listening to complex information compared to reading complex information is key. For me it’s much more beneficial to rewind and understand it than read a paragraph over and over again. Different type of learners
People are much more likely to absorb and believe something if they read it. The action of putting something into the written word tends to lend it more legitimacy for most people. In other words, you are more likely to absorb lies and propaganda when you read it.
reading is interactive in a way listening isn't-you can't passively read. I believe reading is superior...even still, I stopped reading novels years ago, just listen now, because I need my eyes to look at boobs
JPs compliment was almost dangerous, so over the top in analyzing it seems almost obsequious... But then you realize how honest and humble he is and it trips you up. I need more friends that gas me up like JP to JR
You are both awesome. Fair, curious, respectful, and intellectual. The common man can find much to listen to here with out feeling inferior, but actually feel part of the conversation.
I think his analogy is accurate. I come here just for that. I first heard of rogan couse i love the ufc And also why i came here. I stayed because he is naturally curious person. And he has a very interesting interview style always on the opposite side but never against anyone. Very refreshing. And necessary.
The spoken word is now as powerful as the written word & Jordan says the effect could be utterly profound. It made me smile as the apostle Paul said that the Gospel was to be spread by the "foolishness of preaching". The Greek word from which foolishness is translated suggests surprise at the simplicity of such a monumental & essential task. It's kinda " So I sit down, shut up and listen, and someone will read it to me, & that's it?." I am a Christian and what increaseingly seems to be Jordan's direction spiritually is the most exciting thing happening in Christendom right now in my opinion.

We don't want to imagine you being violated, why did you have to share that?
Imagine you put arguably the smartest outspoken psychologist on your podcast and he objectively compliments you.
That's unquestionably rare.
Yeah and its no random southern psychologist but probably one of the best on northern land
I wish we could scream our voices out louder
Don’t fall for it. Seriously wake up and see what is really going on here. He’s a Psychologist, he knows how to play head games and you’ll never know you were a victim. CAUTION. ⚠️
JP and JR have a pretty good chemistry.
DaAlski78520 they're both great.
They are friends, actually.
They hang out outside work with their families.
JR has chemistry with everyone, that's what Jordan praises him for somewhat in this vid
This dude pinned exactly why i watch joe rogan. His interview style. Man i want to develope some skills like that
Usually people make fun of the way I spell develope because I spell it with an e at the end and I’m too stubborn to change I’m glad I see someone else spelling develope the same way as me.
@@edgelord975 you're wrong though.

@bigkahunaburger it comes with a general understanding of people and what drives them. Basically a P.H.D in Psychology (or some strong human intuition)
I'll always be amazed at how Jordan Peterson can read a man's character so perfectly
I don't think it's necessary his ability to read someone. I think it's his ability to articulate what a lot of people think so well and precise.
@Orphan Annie most people disagree with that statement.
It’s his job !
Joe was listening hard at the beginning, Jordan telling you about you is only second to a dmt entity telling you about you
Dmt entity is second to Jordan Peterson haha
This is gold!
Yea.. totally
love it when JP slips in an "Eh" here and there.🇨🇦
I know, eh. It's the few moments where his Canadian sneaks out.
yee its cute :D
Is the eh what us down south think is Aye or are thos different?
Jonathan Coffey its a bit different, eh fills the sentence at the end in canada, just kinda hangs on there
Where in the vid? I’m Canadian and didn’t notice it lol
If Dr. Peterson calls me smart, I'd literally wear a "Jordan Peterson says I'm smart" tshirt all the time.
no offense but thats probably the reason he'd never call you that (and me neither for wasting my time writing this comment)
@@mome6889 I knew some smart ass will say that, it kinda was a given.
😁

This is exactly why I love how you do your show. You had Bernie Sanders on, I do not agree with him politically, but I really wanted to see something other than the crap that I get to see where it's just people taking shots at him acting like they are "saving me time" with their synopsis. Your show allowed me to see him as is, and not out of context.
I hope you do this for another 20 years.

Mothafucka Joe Rogan is a huge role model of mine. He taught me the importance of entering any situation with an objective state of mind.
@@musicbymartinalkhalili2664 objective

True
Eyes 》 yea I’ve liked every single guest he’s had on to some extent
Also, a refreshing willingness to listen and learn vs wait till the others vocal chords stop and blab your opinion.
But they all have important things in common, such as intelligence, ability to make a cogent point, etc.
Little did I know a Mycologist talking about fungus and all of the different things you can use it to cure would end up being one of my favourite guests.
It's amusing when Joe's critics say that he "agrees with whatever his guest says". Letting your
guest have their say (which is probably why they showed up) is not the same as "agreeing", a fact
which is lost on a lot of people these days. They want to see a fight, with their emotional stand-in
scoring a knockout, or at least a win. It isn't Joe's style.

Jordan sums up perfectly, Joe's unique qualities as an interviewer, and without arse liking!
He read Joe like a Dr Seuss book
The Truth it's interesting you say that because although you're obviously referring to the ease at which Mr. Peterson seemed to make his analysis of Mr. Rogan, you may have also realized that Dr. Seuss clothed many great, complex concerns and ideas through the imaginative stories we have all come to know, which is precisely how Mr. Peterson has described Joe Rogan.
'The Lorax' is the greatest ecological novel ever written. 'The Sneetches', about the absurdity of conformity
Joe's as smart as a nat if a natural was a mat on a wet floor in a room with no doors and wooden floors, but if all the nats were as smart as Donald trump, sounded like his rump, well then no one would question why he to a dump in your store.... Lol
Or, read my comment and *get a fucking clue.*
And they say Joe's ego grew 10X that day...
Wow, Peterson has a way with words. “Eloquentest” person ive ever heard. And so intelligent

VOX: "the journalists that tried to discredit me are as good as dead, maybe they already are."
Fox: JoRdYn PAtrSon EndorEs TRuMp.
NYT: "Jordan Peterson says in UA-cam videos that he is 50 times more popular than any 1 else."
CNN: "Jordan Peterson inspired the latest mass shooting"
"The spoken word is now as powerful as the written word. That's never happened before in human history." That blew my fucking mind!
Me too and it’s right on the nail
Can't believe it's took me til 56 to find Jordan Peterson. This guy makes sense! Great interview as usual.
Holy shit that's probably the biggest compliment Rogan's ever felt he's been paid.
Absolutely love these two, so interesting on whole range of topics.
New goal in life. I don't wanna become necessarily rich or famous. Just important enough to get an interview by Joe Rogan.
i wish jordan peterson would meet david goggins
I would pay for that
It's like that who would you have to dinner living or dead, Dr Peterson, Sam Harris, Einstein, St Francis, and Lord and lady Baden Powell.. and Zach Ravi..
David Goggins is not that special, he is light years behind JP
@Elreypachuco That is the good of goggins, jolt of energy! As a matter of fact, I think his speech is secondary, he learn to speak so he can educate masses about his experience. His motto is actually do it and stay hard, he is really a hands on guy, it is your fault to understand him of his words, he is the one that needs to understand by his actions rather than words!
@@selfmasterytv You don’t know David Goggins, if you think he is not special. They both are special people just in different ways.

Mr Peterson's comparison of UA-cam to the printing press was spot on it helped me understand how powerful this platform is.
Damn, intelligently articulated Joe perfectly. Love those two
Joe seems _genuine._ He's just a man who wants to understand new things.
This may be from 2 years ago. But, seeing this man speak live was profound. Much love and I hope your health improves.
The brain power in this podcast is mindblowing.
Jordan Peterson literally can say you don't look smart and it be a low key complement lol
Question in 2050: Grampa, how did the main stream media die?
Grampa: Gradually and then suddenly.
The New York Times posted a job advertisement in India specifically requiring for the person to be idealogically against the current prime minister and his government's perspectives. When a newspaper makes it a prerequisite for you to be biased for you to be hired, it says a lot about how far out they are.

I think his analogy is accurate. I come here just for that. I first heard of rogan couse i love the ufc
And also why i came here. I stayed because he is naturally curious person. And he has a very interesting interview style always on the opposite side but never against anyone. Very refreshing. And necessary.
And the fortitude to have absolutely anyone on the show regardless of disagreement and dissonance.
I have so much respect for Jordan Peterson, he is certainly helping our flawed human race. We are so lost and hopeless nowadays and he is like a ray of light in the darkness enlightening us with truths that just make so much sense.
I love how these two interact. They are like brothersfrom another mother. They interrupt each other a LOT, but it's like finishing each others' sentences.
