Omg that was perfect

@18:47 WOW! Just WOW! I’am in literal tears. As soon as Serj yells, “YEREVAN”! And Shavo starts on the guitar! That THUNDER STRIKE. OMG! This concert is a religious experience!! Thank you SOAD!
I scream ! 🤩
Iconic moment
True rock gods
Truly!
Holy shit!
I'm a cardiologist. During 2015, I was in Armenia with Médecins Sans Frontières. I was able to attend this concert. The energy was immense and one of the best experiences within my life.
You might need an ECG just to check everything is fine inside your heart :P
Just joking. Lucky you. I am glad you could enjoy that atmosphere ^^!
@@franvierpt It was excellent and thank you for the joke lol I needed to laugh today 😃
sounds awesome, i watch this concert so often, you can feel the energy through the screen. I almost prefer it to just listening to the tracks off my iphone. Nothing like a good live event ... my personal favorite live experience in a stadium was attending game 5 of the 2000 world series , yankees vs mets (I'm a new yorker) , in which the yankees won the series in that game. In fact if you go look up the last 3 outs, freeze frame at 1:00, and look directly above the priority mail sign, theres a yellow blur which is 15 year old me . the energy during that whole game made that a top 5 memorable lifetime experience for me for sure, i wish I went to more concerts tho.
Perfect Lightning Timing at 18:50

Almost like there was a god watching and waiting for the drop, perfect timing hahaha.

Despite all they went through the Armenians have managed to preserve their unique language, alphabet and culture. Even under tremendous adversity they have managed not only to survive but to thrive. We Greeks love you Armenians, you are our brothers and sisters and I wish that someday the whole world will recognize the horrors you went through. Lots of love from Greece, the truth will always prevail!
I hope Armenia will exist forever, sadly my country (Ukraine) Also had a similar problem so i know how it feels.

This is one of the most powerful concerts ever.
I'd say the most impactful concerts I've ever seen to be recorded
Especially his scream during War. Just so INSANE.

I was at the show in an LA and I’m not even Armenian myself but I have Armenian family through marriage. I cried multiple times during this show in LA but the Show actually in Armenia seems incredible. I can just imagine/ see through this video the energy
Yesssssss
Serj was smiling the entire show!
yesss, he is so nice :) and great audience too..!!!
Of course he'd be happy to play a show in his ancestor's land
Their music has the same effect on me apart from Aerials. For some reason that one makes me feel sad.
I feel that sadness in Lost in Hollywood
it was their greatest dream: to come sing in their Motherland on the 100th anniversary of Armenian Genocide. it was a long-planned concert
1:59:49
There's a lot of calls to Armenian culture and folk in this show, but that shit just felt like a man channeling his people. Fucking. Incredible.
Really illuminating too, if you think about the sound that this band created from the influence of their home. This band took Armenia to the world, and brought it back a thousand times over.
I'm not sure exactly how to put this, but every time I watch this concert (especially on this date), I feel the shared trauma of all Armenia. I feel the despair of being a forgotten society. I feel the burden of being humiliated and discarded by the acts of war. I feel the decades passing like a cold wind, changing bones to dust.
I also feel the pain and darkness start to fade. Despair becomes joy, emptiness is replaced by acceptance. It's like System of a Down became the Sun, spreading light and warmth across my inner self.
@@haaather7131 same ..and im not even from Hayastan ..and i cried on some parts...
Holy Mountains being played in Armenia is really something special.
John Dolmayan is a beast, not a single mistake made thru almost 3h!
and not even a readable feeling on his face too x)
Definitely the most solid element of the band live
You need a solid drummer when you have a guitarist like Daron, haha!
Anton Håkansson That's true lol
He starting playing drums when he was 6 years old as his father was and is musician.
THAT LIGHTNING STRIKE AT 18:52 AS SOON AS THE BREAKDOWN STARTS
THIS CONCERT WAS BLESSED
Dude I got wicked ass chills when I saw that!!!! The fact they got that on camera....... someone/something in the skies above wanted a part in this beautiful show :) :)
Sickkkkk!!!!

The crowd was ROARING when lightning struck that was just magical to see
I saw Roger Waters once and throughout the entire show, a storm was building and building in the distance. At the very end, when they did the encore, it was like magic. The thunder, lightning and rain went nuts. Was amazing

@@favfilm6710 why exactly do the Armenians want artsakh? I know that the people are fighting to break free from Azerbaijan and i fully support that as the Azerbaijani forces have repeatedly disrespected ceasefires and terms of the Geneva convention
@@Joes8186 The Armenian locals of Artsakh seceded thirty years ago because they don't want to be part of Azerbaijan, the dictatorship which starved, bombed and ethnicity cleansed hundreds of thousands of Armenians. The recent deputy prime minister of Azerbaijan, Hajibala Abutalybov, said "Our goal is the complete elimination of Armenians". How can that ever be just and humane governance.

THERAMMSTEINFAN490 His drumming is a lot more complex than a lot of metal bands.
My grandmother escaped this genocide -- just barely. She was just 11 years old. She remembered it with clarity, and cried often about it. She adored the French for saving her and her family. The French took her to Port Sayeed, Egypt, and eventually to America.
Elmo Blatch could you explain me this genocide please
You should read the wikipedia page
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armenian_Genocide
it's pretty complete and if you also read the pages linked when you don't know a term, it's quite a rabbit hole to explore
America orchestrated the world wars.
Elmo Blatch Just imagine... If she hadn't made it, you wouldn't be here to type that comment...
+Micheal Jackson read up on your history Germany started ww1 and2 but america came in ww1 to create league of nations which i believe transformed into the un which ignores numerous atrocities worldwide. they could stop it all but that tells you theres an agenda to be realized called agenda 21 look it up

If SOAD aren't an amazing example of mixing cultures I don't know what is. Their Armenian influence created unbelievably unique melodies, guitar riffs and lyrics. It's really important for everyone to travel as much as possible and discover other cultures.
if soad арент
Well put!
I would love to go visit other cultures around the world but it's hard to do that in my current financial situation. You shouldn't need to be rich to be able to travel the world we live on.
@@TheOGNoName you technically dont need to be that rich to travel, you just have to have enough money set aside to sustain yourself to travel around Europe(just one example) and enough tolerance for discomfort to not fly everywhere. But you could probably swing it..
I do understand your underlying point tho, you need to be pretty secure with either enough savings , or have steady employment, but that employment may not allow you to travel as much because of the demands, the system especially in the US, is so tilted and our good macroeconomic numbers mask the microeconomic problems we all face, especially the millenials and under crowd (which im a part of at 38). My parents experience with college and employment is something of a fantasy to me, my mom paid her way to a masters degree and was able to pay for all her living expenses and stuff with a part time job and own a house and all that stuff we're not able to do because big business took over washington DC. Assuming youre American.
im spending basically llike 40 % of my savings on continuing education after just getting a 4 year degree but it not being good enough to get a job easily in my discipline (computer programming and information systems). It's dejecting but it is what it is, the only way out of hell is to keep going as the cliche goes. My financial situation personally has never been stable and im lucky that my parents both are good with money and had steady employment and no risky investments, to be able to help me out. It def shouldnt be this way.

I return here always again and again. Not because there aren't better live performances of these songs on youtube, but because of the atmosphere of the whole show. They play with so much passion and joy here, and the crowd is just amazing too. I bet it was a very important concert both for SoaD and for the people in Armenia. Yes, maybe Serj's voice is not so harsh and angry here as it was around 2000, and Daron is a little bit less crazy without cocaine (but definitely became a better guitarist) but I love the respect they have for Armenia and they show it by playing with as much energy as they have. And it's much important than playing perfectly, I think.
These guys taught me that one can love his country without necessarily hating others. And don't come to me with "but they hate Turks" because it's not true. They don't hate Turks in general, they've said that several times. They also taught me that loving your country doesn't mean you don't see it's faults and you can critize and love something at the same time.

I can't think of a single SOAD song that doesn't deserve the praise that Chop Suey, BYOB, and Aerials get. They're all good in different ways, but they're so goddamn amazing. System Of A Down is more than just music. It’s an experience
Now more than ever, #StayStrongArmenia
The most moving and emotional concert of the decade.

You fucking lucky bastards. What great show! Wish you well Armenians! Greetings from Portugal!
I am here again, but this time songs sound different and lyrics go deeper into my soul.
Some part of the audience might be in the war now as Turkey and Azerbaijan attacked again and plan to repeat the Genocide.
Armenia and Artsakh are strong and always will be!
What is happening right now is so unfair. Theses people deserve peace.
@@jean-christiancote6320 they have so much evil in them. It’s like Victor Hugo said “ wherever trukish hoof dross, NO GRASS GROWS”

About 31 000 Armenians are living in my homeland - Bulgaria. We salute you!
We are Minnasian family from Argentina. You've all our suport and we love your music. Keep fighting for Armenia! We are a lot around the world praying for peace.
This is a perfect display of how powerful music can be. Most so called musicians strive to be poplar and rich all the while making crappy music. System decided the most important thing to them was informing the world about the plight of their beautiful country. You could see the effect on their people by how emotional they are for the entire show. Thank you guys for educating the world through your great music. God bless you Armenia.
🤍
That's a rather unfair evaluation of "most so called musicians". Have you ever tried composing a song yourself, or looked at how popular artists compose songs?
@@infernalsquid To be fair I think Paul's on about the boy band/girl band types who don't even write lyrics like they may sing well but 9 times out of 10 dont use their own instruments. Not all of them but defo the vast maj for sure
@@TheSchemer1 Sure, but that's just one subset of musicians. Most musicians make music for the sake of self-expression -- however little or much technical skill that self-expression requires. Composing something that sounds good is difficult! And that includes pop music with its catchy hooks and melodies. Basically, not a big fan of Paul's assertion about most musicians' goals or his opinion on music that isn't his preferred taste.
Most musicians work for a living by playing music because they love to do it. Most “pop stars” resemble your description more.
I've been watching this video for 4 years now and it always gives me chills. Proud to be Armenian! Greetings from Argentina :)

to watch Serj's reaction when Darron sings in Armenian....brings tears to my eyes. Darron looks so proud and happy...and Serj is ecstatic that Darron sings in the mother tongue. Freakin love that shit...
