Guys, Serj is now 50, Daron 44, etc....They are not young boys anymore, they are screaming for over 20 fucking years, can't you just appreciate their work and enjoy?

Personally, one of the the best live performing, metal bands to ever exist. The material is highly complex, many sections, pitch shifts, rhythm, tempo etc. And they are soo unforgivably tight - perfect every time. 4 guys.... No tricks. Pure fking synergy, symbioses and art on another level. I mean.. How can a live-show sound like the album?
The live show doesn’t sound like the albums. Far from it. Drummer is far from being as tight as you seem to hear it. Not mentioning the vocals… Sure it’s very honorable to play without too much computer adding (unlike muse for example). Their music is really great for sure, but there has been and there will be plenty of groups with much more precise live interpretation. Try Vinnie Paul and Dimebag playing perfect strength beyond strength live faster than the album version for example. And that was in the 90’s (Yeah I know, Vinnie does speed up then slows down a bit between the last time of the 4th bar of the second part and the first time of the 5th. But still. And Phil’s vocals were out of this world). ua-cam.com/video/bOXL02x-6X8/v-deo.htmlsi=uuA5uVCpy5velTZ1
@@cordialement4383 I've been listening A LOT to these albums. Just for interest... Please show me like... 3 places where the rhythm is off? I've actually listened to this whole set, like 2 times at least, And I dont ever remember thinking; uff, they messed up there. Not the drums or the vocals. But Im open to listening to what you mean?
Ive come to learn something from soad. If they made a new album they wouldn't be where they are. Serj even said "not making a new album, made us all better friends and band mates". All this time ive been giving them shit for no new album, but now I realize that it's not about that, its about being good friends and playing music. They're in the right place right now, which is why im seeing them in 2018. And people talk a lot about how they suck now, but those same people come back to their shows each time, because they think "soad might be better than last time". Those people have forgotten what the meaning of a band is. Playing music, that's it, nothing more, nothing less. People talk about how serj needs to leave the band, and get a new singer. You cant replace a single band member in soad, because they all share unique qualities that no other band has ever had. Serj's voice was granted the 11th best singer in metal, along with beautiful and heart breaking lyrics, and professionalism. John covered the original drummer for one night in 1996, and then he just became a part of soad from then on. Daron does things on stage you cant see with other bands, like stage diving while continuing to play the song at the same time or running around and spassing out on stage and keeping the anger in the music. And shavo slapping his bass to the song, and dancing. Do it, think of another band like these guys, do it. You can't, can you? You can't categorize soad and their music. That "Nu Metal" bullshit is far from the amount of beauty this band provides. Anyway, soad is better now than they've ever been. Nothing will replace any band member here.
I have to agree with everything you've said here. SOAD are probably the most unique band ever. They can't be put into any one category. Somehow, they sound like alot of other bands and no other bands at the same time. Their originality and talent are unmatched by anyone but, I do think it's the combination of the four of them that makes them so good. If any one of them were replaced, it just wouldn't be the same
I have absolutely no complaints about the audio. I’m too busy wishing I was there! Watching these guys still able to power through an amazing set after over 20 years is just inspiring!
Amen, I agree and yeah the audio isn't the best on this video and it is MUCH better live for sure. It's much louder and more clear than this video. Also I can tell that Serj couldn't hear himself while singing, so he thought he was singing too low, which is why he tried to push more than he usually would. I blame the sound person on both live and in this video. SOAD is still the goat and most likely will be for at least a really long time. At least in my opinion, but yeah, sound guy/girl/person should be fired.
Okay, SOAD was like the first band I ever really got into, my first favorite band if you will; and while my musical tastes have grown and changed over the years, I can still honestly say System is the most consistently good band that has ever been. They don't have a single song that is bad.
Because Daron has exactly same voice as he had in 1998, 2000, 2005 and in 2008. Serj is in need of professional vocal coach, but I don't think that he has any interest in sounding better, he didn't care for SOAD for very long time.
Serj is still a great vocalist (Watch him sing The Rains of Castamere on UA-cam), I just think he's completely uninterested in System. Which is fine, but I don't know why he keeps agreeing to perform with them when he's so much more invested in his solo / orchestral stuff.
i love how Daron does the classy version of his guitar spin move at the end of the Psycho solo. also shoutout to the one dude at 54:46 humming the part of the song as it would normally go.

This band is very important to me.I first heard them in 9th grade self titled album was in my portable cd player almost everyday. This band made me a Metal head and made me want to be a vocalist. I'll be 35 coming up August 2nd .So many memories for me This is my youth in a bottle. I Will always be a Die hard fan till the day I am no longer on this Planet.
Yo, you guys complaining on Serj's voice: both Rock in Rio SOAD shows I went were amazing, but when I checked the show footage, I was lk "WTF??" - The audio they use on those shows footage do not transmit the same experience of the live audience.
Yeah the audio they use is pretty much as realistic as it can get. Of course the audio AND video isn't capable of capturing the vibe/energy of a live experience... that's impossible I love SOAD, but yeah.. Serj's voice sounds pretty "nasal in this one.The growling/screaming is fkn amazing tho :D
Not sure if I agree with you on that. I don't think ages matters. Look at Bruce Dickinson for example. That man's got more power than some young colleagues.
@@Raheem_925 Age does matter, we all deteriorate. Bruce is one of the lucky ones, even Chris Cornell's range got worse but he was still a fantastic vocalist

I don’t know why this made me cry, I honestly think it’s because they’re our childhoods, and they’re getting so old now (I really don’t want to sound rude) and it just makes me think I’ll never hear them play live again. They were amazing and you could tell Serj was trying to save his voice, and I get it. They’ve been screaming and everything for around 20 or so years? I honestly think people should stop complaining about their voices, they’re old now. It’s just life. But I just wanted to say, they were amazing, legends. I thought it was funny when Serj said “What the fuck am I saying? Who the fuck cares?” lol, still got the humour. I’ll miss them. Edit: Got news that I may be going to their tour this year, Wish me luck. Another edit: Thanks a bundle covid.
Abigail Friedman Yeah, guess it’ll probably be cancelled. I expected it though, so it’s not a huge surprise. Anyway, kinda a let down. But whatever i’ll still be listening to their music.
Seeing them as thr years have past has really slapped me in the face with how much time has passed. I remember like 2002 and 2006 seeing them...time flies!
Man I feel you there... I was 14 when I first went mad for SOAD... now in old! When did that happen?!? But I do have the privilege of blowing my 7 year old sons mind by introducing him to them! Keeping the next generation going!!
you only know that they did it really well in their carrers just when you see that among the public there are a lot of young people, who didn't meet them in their time, but they have Great parents who have give them the chance to hear this fucking awsome band even now, so many years later. Long live system.
yes, i totally agree, 20 years ago they were so much more fun to watch. no doubt.. but i absolutely appriciate the fact, that they're still out there rockin their fans. and one compliment for serj that can't be denied: he's lookin sooooo damn good x.x
Literally every single track they ever put out became super memorable straight away and they were always a hit instantly with all of us fans. I haven't listened to any System of a Down tracks in literally probably something like 7 years or more by now, yet I'm still standing here singing along with almost every single track they're playing here effortlessly lol.... Crazy, I guess I forgot how many hours of my life were spent just vibing to the same classic System of a Down songs again and again
My son is 6yrs old and his fave songs are toxicity and BYOB…he of course doesn’t get what they fully mean but I love rocking to their music in the car with him!
Look how much the crowd has changed. I just watched a live performance of theirs from 2002 and compared to now, its either not as crowded or people don't like to be as close to one another as before. I remember being literally pressed chest to back with strangers at Warped Tour 10 years ago but its like you don't see that anymore. The whole crowd of people pressed together, moving as one. it really was something to experience.
I got to meet SOAD WAY back in the day when Toxicity first came out. They were doing a signing at the Sam Goody near West 4th in NYC and I had Serj, Shavo, and John sign my Ibanez RG. I had just started playing and they were one of my favorite bands. Unfortunately Daron missed the signing but everyone else was so cool. Shavo looked me dead in the eye when I asked him to sign the guitar and he smiled, as if to say, "That's pretty cool, man." Amazing band.
Trust me, SOAD can still put on a badass show. Imagine Justin Bieber performing his songs in 20 years.... It would be a 40 year old dude still talking about girls....awkward is what that would be.
System of a Down are legends. Justin Bieber is a small phase. Nobody is gonna listen to a Justin Bieber song in 15 years and say damn I miss this guy... wish he dropped a new album. Soad on the other hand...
Just sitting here quarantining and listening to SOAD and reminiscing. My God, this band was awesome, and I loved them. Still do, they are on regular rotation on my iPod and I hear SOAD every day. Ya know, it really sucks when a band you really love gets stale and all their material is played and old and boring and you lose interest and stop buying their CD's. It's a whole different level of suck when a band you really, REALLY love has continually put out great albums that are captivating and original and different than anything else out there... and just stop. Maybe SOAD quit at the top of their game, which is probably smart. I've read all the back and forth between Serj and Daron, Serj takes full responsibility because he's not into "heavy" music any more. Whatever. It's a damn shame, but I appreciate what SOAD was while it WAS. Now I'm off to buy Scars on Broadway full catalog to get my fix...

System of a down was the single most important band for me in my teenage years so they will always be one of my favourite bands, and its awesome they are still rocking but i must say this is sound not working optimally. It would be my dream come true if they made some new tunes and reinvented themselves a bit in a way. There is an extreme pontential seeing how Serjs musical interests evolved through years in his solo works
People are complaining about Serj being in his 50's? So what. Lots of rockers past they're prime are singing great live. Look at Till from Rammstein, he's older than Serj, and hits every note perfectly, same could be said for Corey Taylor, Jonathan Davis, Randy Blythe, lots of other singers, not to say they're all older than Serj, but most past their prime. This is a youtube upload. Do ya'll know how much of the quality of a concert is lost once it's uploaded onto a server? A lot of it. You can't judge a singer based on a shitty upload or remix
I can’t believe how tame crowds are now a days 20 years ago u could never just stand in there it was like the crowd was constantly moving pushing,, pitting and just going bananas
i think the problem is some one who mixed the sound because when you take a look to the fans you can see how hype they are... and the sergi is master of what he is doing never he disappoint his fans
This is my band, I'm 62 years old and I'm here for it. Soon young people will realize that their elders are cool too. Matter of fact, you're channeling into what we already made cool. Like this is me in my thirties now here you come 30 years later. Pssh!

Actually its all simple stuff, from a guitar point of view anyway. Seen em a couple of times, they are pretty sloppy live.
I was lucky enough to catch them in '99 and '00. Fantastic.
LUCKY!
I always knew about them, but never listen to them, i regret it now xD
Todays concerts are boring daron is not that crazy he was and serj is sound like he swallowed helium but they re system so i love them af
2002 was the earliest i saw them. Not as tight but a lot more energy and more entertaining.
lol must be low testosterone levels in his old age
0:25 HOLY he just laugth thats illegal
Brookland420 i love the band too bro...
They truly are kings.
THIS
I have to agree with everything you've said here. SOAD are probably the most unique band ever. They can't be put into any one category. Somehow, they sound like alot of other bands and no other bands at the same time. Their originality and talent are unmatched by anyone but, I do think it's the combination of the four of them that makes them so good. If any one of them were replaced, it just wouldn't be the same
New album would be nice though 😁
Nu metal!!😎🤘🤘
I literally saw 60 year olds on this SOAD concert. Can't duplicate this legendary band. They literally can attract anyone to their music.
Yeah I've been a fan since i was 14, I'm 20 now
I have absolutely no complaints about the audio. I’m too busy wishing I was there! Watching these guys still able to power through an amazing set after over 20 years is just inspiring!
THAT PART!!!!!!
Ariels that has to be the best version ever.. sugar no but ariels yes

Old??? 70 is old, 80 is old but not 45!!! M'enfin!!!
We are all so lucky to live through SOAD. Saw them at Ozfest 2006 as part of the greatest metal lineup in history. They are the GOAT of metal.
The sound guy took the day off on this one
serj is 50 years old now
i hate to see people thinking his voice is bad now, it is just dfferent
i don't see people hating on daron's voice nowadays
Because Daron has exactly same voice as he had in 1998, 2000, 2005 and in 2008. Serj is in need of professional vocal coach, but I don't think that he has any interest in sounding better, he didn't care for SOAD for very long time.
Stop defending... Is a bad voice... Always a nose voice...
I don't listen to them live anymore...
HE WAS SICK WHEN TOUR STARTED!!
And he wasn't 50 y.o. when tour have already ended. His birthday is on 21st of August (1967).

Yo, you guys complaining on Serj's voice: both Rock in Rio SOAD shows I went were amazing, but when I checked the show footage, I was lk "WTF??" - The audio they use on those shows footage do not transmit the same experience of the live audience.
M Santana that is right
Same at RaR 2017 Festival in Germany
no we are talking about serj using opera singing on metal which is bad idea
Yeah the audio they use is pretty much as realistic as it can get.
Of course the audio AND video isn't capable of capturing the vibe/energy of a live experience... that's impossible
I love SOAD, but yeah.. Serj's voice sounds pretty "nasal in this one.The growling/screaming is fkn amazing tho :D
Haha, Mr. Ja3boun... you're a fool.
One of the very very few bands that can make a grown man cry. Legends.
Serj's voice will always be good for real fans . Because they know that he's 50 .
Exactly
fuck you.... you don't get to gatekeep... you don't decide what a real fan is.... a blind fan is NOT better than a critical fan... he is VALUE-LESS
Not sure if I agree with you on that. I don't think ages matters. Look at Bruce Dickinson for example. That man's got more power than some young colleagues.

Look how much the crowd has changed. I just watched a live performance of theirs from 2002 and compared to now, its either not as crowded or people don't like to be as close to one another as before. I remember being literally pressed chest to back with strangers at Warped Tour 10 years ago but its like you don't see that anymore. daron is a freaking legend
I was there🤘😎...great show🎸 and great vibe in the audience👌
Ah, you lucky bastard :D
It was..hands in the air like you just dont care..and glad i decided to go for my chance to see soad live..😜🤘
Trust me, SOAD can still put on a badass show. Imagine Justin Bieber performing his songs in 20 years.... It would be a 40 year old dude still talking about girls....awkward is what that would be.
nobody will remember him 20 years someone younger and better looking will take his place
SOAD ain't even the same ball park, ain't even the same fucking ball game.
System of a Down are legends. Justin Bieber is a small phase. Nobody is gonna listen to a Justin Bieber song in 15 years and say damn I miss this guy... wish he dropped a new album. Soad on the other hand...
i still hate that they put beiber over them even tho they were around along time ago before him and probably after him they are my teen years
System may be bored playin always same songs but still they don't want to make a new album :D weird
Agreed. Such a shame they couldn't see eye to eye
I will love system forever! My absolute most favorite band ever in my life♥️

System of a down was the single most important band for me in my teenage years so they will always be one of my favourite bands, and its awesome they are still rocking but i must say this is sound not working optimally. It would be my dream come true if they made some new tunes and reinvented themselves a bit in a way. They will forever be my favorite band ❤️ Love these guys!
Когда-то мечтал увидеть вас в Казани, не судьба, но вы навсегда в моём сердце❤.
