I just bought a truck (not for hotshot) and am watching these videos because I have an elderly mom that I need to visit more often, but don't want to pay for a hotel all the time, so I'm planning to sleep in my truck. I really liked your setup. Best to you both! Very inspiring!
Nice bed set up. Looking forward to the AC set up. I would rethink MOTIVE as a ELD. There super expensive and unreliable. I had them when it was KeepnTruckin. I paid 280.00 a year. They raised it to 460.00 and I rolled out. Your paying 800 a year. You can buy a dash came for 150.00 one time payment. Tell the insurance company you have cameras and you will get a discount. For more discounts. With any ELD give the insurance company access to it and you will receive the same discount. I use Big Road ELD, it cost me 25 dollars a month, simple to use as a driver and admin. ✌️
I have slept in my truck in the back and never even thought about removing the seats. I use it for travel and have thought about buying a van to sleep in. Your video really helped me to consider to use my truck instead.
Very nice, this is by far the best looking DIY truck bed I have seen. I thought it was manufactured at first 😁You should sell these plans, Put me down for an order 🙂👍
Thanks for the video, good content and excellent workmanship converting the back seat into a sleeper. "Keeping it hot!" ... reckon Jo epitomizes that !!
Damn your right that is a awesome hotshot bed. Shit you could start building and putting them in peoples trucks for good money! Shit i would buy one lol
Hey guys, the Hot Shot market has tanked! The market is saturated and Brokers are purposely low balling Hot Shots. Like me am dumping my Hot Shot equipment while the market for equipment is still some what good. There is 20 to 1 more Semi loads than Hotshot loads these days. Sell your truck and pass on the trailer. Get yourself in a Semi, more loads, better pay and you don't have to travel the earth in a Hot Shot to secure loads. Semi loads are local, shorter and pay better. You and your Wife can't legally team drive without a certified DOT sleeper. Plus that back seat life especially for 2 sucks ass. You can get a Semi and a trailer for around 60 to 70K. Being a new venture in a Hotshot, your insurance is gonna be atleast 1800 a month. Best of luck folks. I'll be watching you guys ✌️
You should’ve tried Cooper Sleepers out of Clinton South Carolina they are reasonable before you bought your truck do you need to check it out anyway they got good deals there
Great video guys lovely couple💕 I’m rooting for you guys and hope to see you both out there in TWO TRUCKS teaming a load! Let’s goooo!!! Is it possible for you guys to do a deeper dive on the material you guys used on the wall of the interior where u guys sleep at? What material? Where did u get it? I love the idea of protecting the head or knees from bumping that wall right there! Lol thanks guys good luck to the both of you and drive safe! #nocheapfreight
So yeah we have the carpet (from Home Depot about .41 cents per square ft) layering the foam. The foam is the same padding you would use for under carpet in your house. We just layered the foam ( about 4 layers) and we adhered the layers with adhesive spray from 3M ( spray is also sold at Home Depot). I hope this helps! And thanks for the support!
You won't be able to do team driving because the back seat of the truck doesn't meet the dimensional requirements to call it sleep berth. So even if both drive you will have to stop for 10 hr reset after the second person stops before you can drive again.
@@slimjack3270 you might get away with it but if you want to make sure you won't get in a bind, look up the dimensions for the sleeper in order for it to be a dot approved one.
Hi Rick, just discovered your channel and subscribed bro. I’m in the same boat with you, have CDL, a new 2022 Ram 3500 high output aisin trans dually but basic tradesman. Can I ask, which company did you go with in terms of getting your paperwork (mc, dot, etc) done? Do you have a suggestion? Because sometimes these companies cater to semi needs and may not be knowledgeable about hotshot. You mentioned the company you are using to be doing things in an expedited manner. Secondly, were you able to come up with an a/c system so you won’t leave the truck idling? I also am real curious how you did the bed so nice, that you can open. Really nice! Unfortunately I’m not too handy like you. Also, were you asked to pay few months of payments in advance? I assume you called Progressive. Thanks
So I had all of our paperwork go through National Fleet so I would recommend them. A/C is a work in progress so I’ll definitely put a video out when we have a unit ready to go! As for insurance we are with Progressive and I paid 3 months in advance. Hope this was helpful, ~~Josi😊
@@RollinwithRickandJo Thank you so much, Josi. Yes, it’s been very helpful. I will check out the National Fleet. I was in fact offered 2 months of payments up front by Progressive at $1300 / month. But I’m very low in funds right now - even though I have excellent credit-so I’m planning on driving Hotshot using my own truck at 70 / 30 split, me receiving 70% and company providing 40’ flatbed and dispatch. Hopefully I can make some money quick and start my own authority like you guys. One more question, are you planning on finding most your freight loads through Truck Stop? Is truck stop the go-to app for hotshot loads? Because I’m not able to purchase load board membership w/o DOT number. There’s a demo version of DAT which I downloaded, but it’s all semi flatbed loads, don’t see any hotshot specific loads. If you don’t mind sharing some quick info on finding loads, I’d appreciate it. I have been driving flatbed and dry van semi truck as a company driver to gain some experience, I hated it.
@@semprefidelis76 so we do plan on using both but we are going to try and utilize as many load boards as possible. If you go on the app you should be able to modify your search IE: “40ft, 16,000lbs, flatbed, full/partial etc.” I would recommend keeping your search under “full” vs “partial” (even if you need a partial) because it seems so far “partials” are still listed under “full” and generally at a better price. Hope this helps, ~Josi😊

Was wondering if you could send pics of the bed. How it was built and fastened to the truck. Looks cool just built mine now I'm going to redo it.
Awesome!!! Going to use that idea for sure.

Where did u get that rear visor?!?! Looks awesome 👌
Amazon or eBay. Try both!
What did you use for the mounting bracket
We used an L brackets from Home Depot and drilled holes to line up with the existing holes in the truck for the seats

What are your measurements for your setup
Just remember after connecting to your old port the insurance companies have completed access to all information on vehicle.
