As a cdl driver I would not advise ur thinking if both of u are drivers u cannot got into off duty status after one is done... u must be in sleeper which u don't have.. I strongly think u should reconsider.. off duty is when u out of truck..sleeper is when u inside truck not working..u will be out of service immediately
Your wrong off Duty is not just considered by having a sleeper dot requirements for off duty is for your vehicle not to move at all after you log off as off duty sir
@usamoki Def not wrong if both people are drivers of that vehicle you can not just go to off duty as the other person drives you must be in sleeper berth. Off duty is off duty away from truck snd it is parked
OK ... with 2 drivers in the truck and no sleeper ... if you are in the passenger seat you are on duty not driving .. the plan works but you will be on duty in the passenger seat ... you both will be on the same 14 hours and taking your off duty time (10 hrs) at the same time
There's a few ways around Hotshot team driving 1 buy a Sleep 2 buy a Full size Suv Chevy Suburban / Ford Excursion build a sleeper in the back 3 Buy a Heavy Duty Van Chevy 3500 / Ford E350 conversion van or cargo van and build a sleeper they all work awesome and are dot approved sleepers I had a Chevy 2500HD Regular Cab picked up a camper shell and built a sleeper
the sleeper cage is nylon ropes and net to keep you safe while you sleep. its not a cage!! get the next and team drive as many hours as you legally can!! sleep eat, relax, watch movies in the truck!! always loading and going
I'm using a E-450 cab and chassis.. I'm adding a DOT approved sleeper behind the cab and a fifth wheel that mounts to the chassis... Later on I will be adding an extra fuel tank...
My bed is much higher than yours - the mattress is about an inch above the window height so I have the widest stock width (without modifying the door) which is about 72". I'm 5'9" tall and it's still a little tight for my preference. The best situation would be to replace the cab with a regular cab and remove the truck bed. Install a semi sleeper and you will be far more comfortable.
Ok, ignore what Richard said below. Good greif! Remember when you log off duty, the ELD will GPS and time stamp your time line. For example. If you leave New York on the way to Florida. If one of you drives to Maryland and logs off duty. Than your partner drives to North Carolina. You than log back on . How are you going to explain the gap? Remember DOT can pull your logs for 8 days back and violate you for even driving 5 minutes over your 11 hours 7 days ago. The only way am thinking is you drive for 5 and half hours . Your partner drives 5 and half hours . Than you both shut it down for atleast ten hours. You can't keep the truck moving every 5 hours or so. Yeah you can mark off duty and not sleeper birth. But if you keep the truck moving and get stopped for a inspection. DOT will see the continued driving logs and look for a certified sleeper back there....Nope! Shut down and fined for 10 hours for logs violation. Your insurance well sky rocket. Thats a no no!
@fritzduval No, I'm correct, I've been driving for the last 8 years with CLD under the same 8-day illusion. However, although most only pull 8 days, they can go back 6 weeks on a roadside inspection. Many assume this 8 day thing because once it falls off your viewed logs, how can an officer see it. The new method of sending logs to the officer badge number exposes 6 weeks of logs to law enforcement. They can & will pull 6 weeks on hotshot non/cdl more frequently than a big rig setup due to the "Off-Duty" predicament. Home or base audits aren't regulated to up to 6 weeks either, on those they can & will pull up to a year for an audit. Another note is this, if you're ever involved in an accident, attorneys from opposition can request even further back. Whether you're legal for incident(s) or not by 8-days, 6 weeks, 6 months, ect. If they find an infraction in your records, juries usually side with opposition & for huge amounts.
@@teaguewhite26 you’re wrong. They can do current day plus 7 back that’s all that is allowed during a roadside inspection. Audit can go back years. They can fine for log book violations for any found during the inspection or audit. Hell they can even give you a speeding ticket if you’re on paper logs.
isnt it that you have a 24hrs work clock no matter what. so even if you drive 6 hours and are off for 10 hours, you will still need to wait until the 24hrs to expire to start a new 24hr work day/ shift.
Good plan to share the shift. You will also find that unless you are doing coast to coast runs, most of your pickups and dropoffs are scheduled to be able to get where you need to be with a single driver and you will typically get to your drop-off locations before you're scheduled to be. Good luck
When "team driving": How would you explain the ELD record to DOT officers? Because if you drive you're logged into the ELD with your name as the driver. She would have to log into the ELD when she's driving. This would clearly show that. you are indeed trying to team drive. How does your plan factor into the weekly HOS?
you must have your own authority dot numbers and not be leased on to someboby, cause most places want you to be on the move instead takeing in the sights
Yeah so... that's not Team Driving. You're only splitting a single shift. You are in no way gaining anything by doing this. It would be the same as you Driving one day and the other Driving the next day. You haven't "gotten around" anything.

Rooftop tent on the gooseneck easy to setup perfect Hotshot sleeper
"Nobody cages Jo in the back!" Nice 91 gallon fuel tank addition; good workmanship.
Where did you get that net at?

There are dot approved sleeper setups for pickups, which require removing the passenger seat and door panels to extend
Nice equipment
Can you give me the link for the fuel tank and the 5th wheel
Thank you

does the gravity tank install affect the warranty?
No
Only if specified by manufacturer of tank. Most replacement tanks do state warranty voided if auxiliary tank used.
I'm using a E-450 cab and chassis.. I'm adding a DOT approved sleeper behind the cab and a fifth wheel that mounts to the chassis...
Later on I will be adding an extra fuel tank...
Do you have an instagrams so I can see your setup
Where I get that extra tank from ?
I have the same one for sale 60gal

Jo is a baby doll !!!!!
Straight clickbait. This is not team driving don’t care how you trying to explain it.

Almost correct, DOT can’t ticket you for something that didn’t happen that day. The rest you said is spot on.
Actually DOT can pull 6 weeks
@teaguewhite26 Nope, they can pull 6 weeks for a home base audit. On the side of the road ELD only goes back 8 days fella...

No that’s incorrect. 14hr work clock. 11 hr drive clock. You work 6 and off 10, you reset your clock. Your clock will reset every 10 hr off break.

We definitely agree! Thanks so much🙏🏼
You should be doing rv's

Incorrect, if you have a sleeper in accordance with FMCSA regulations.
Wow !!!i.I know that town 😅
