  • In an attempt to plan ahead I am making patterns for some of the more popular pistols I have been hearing about at the local gun range. In this video which will hopefully be part of a series, I am making a pattern to fit the Springfield armory Hellcat 9mm. For a change this holster is not being made for a custom order. Instead I am making this one to be sure the pattern fits the way I want it to.
This pattern is available digitally in my Etsy store: bransonsgeneralstore.etsy.com...
I am always working on building something and try to average a UA-cam video once a week. Most often leather work, but I have also posted videos on black smithing, knife making, casting, and even how I make soap. Be sure to Subscribe if you are interested in any of these topics, or just making things in general.

Pretty nice holster, great job. Even with that stamp.

Nice work and video, Thank you. Like the PVC pipe taped to your bottles. Cutting some PVC right now.

I usually use a piece about 2 inches long. A little bit of tape over the bottom of the pipe piece will keep the dauber from falling and make it easier with the small bottles.

Is there a reason you start the round knife holes with a hole punch at that corner?

Yes. Cutting into a corner can leave nicks in the leather that will be weak spots. It is also possible to slip with the knife and ruin the piece you are cutting. Much easier to punch holes in corners and make the cuts starting in those holes.

These mold guns are really high on price 😔

Yes they are. I only have a few of them for pistols that are popular enough I have made several holsters with each of them. Most of the one off holsters I make I trace around the customer's gun to make the pattern. When I have the holster finished I meet them again and shape the holster to their firearm wrapped in plastic wrap to protect the finish from the wet leather.
