    Just got a 08 solara convertible and want to upgrade the audio. I’m out of your area but the info was priceless. Thanks I’m going to use this as reference when I go somewhere local.

      Yeah I got the head unit put in a couple days ago. I went with Sony XAV 6000 since that was in stock and was close enough for my needs. Love it and with the stock JBL amplified setup it’s putting out much better sound than the stock unit through the factory setup. I would like to retain the original wired setup as much as possible so my next upgrade will just be the speakers. Might go with you ur Eton suggestion but I might just keep the 6x9’s for ease of installation. I was careful to find a place that doesn’t thrash the stuff you don’t usually see. Made sure if I ever wanted to put the factory unit back it wasn’t un-reversible.
      Back speakers don’t seem very loud with most of the volume coming from the doors. I want to fix that so that I’m getting more volume from the back and have a more surround effect. Stock sounds like most of its being pushed just through the fronts.
      I’m going back after Xmas and figure it all out with my installer. Again thanks for all the tips and necessary parts. Even if your not doing it yourself it’s good ti be informed.

    Great video, will give me an idea when I take mine apart soon.
    But... The 6x9 vs 8" argument is wrong. A good 6x9 off an amplifier isn't going to distort until abuse. Same goes for kickers square subs. The kenwood 6902/6903 for example are 6x9 components that are phenomenal for the money.

      What havebyou done to the Solara?
      I just realized i can improve my wife's car sound myself.
      Any tips?

      @@SoundsGoodStereo I have a GB15 audiofrog in the solara right now with the cheaper gs 6x9. I was looking at the gb60 which is a really good midrange when I ran into the 8" brackets yall have and it got me thinking.

    What's up guys ? So I have a 2008 mercedes sl550. 2 door hard top. I'm trying to build my first serious sq system. I have been looking at these Eton 8" 2 ways. I'll be building each enclosure in the kicks. I'm in the states so eton , steg , rainbow are all pretty new to me. I am thinking a subwoofer in the passenger kick but my question is.. do these 8's provide enough front stage bass ? Or would I still want a dedicated sub woofer ? I'm here in indiana and don't know of any high end shops so your help or any other commenters would be greatly appreciated.

      I don’t remember off the top of my head. I would search online and look for wire schematics. We just test every vehicle, just so we don’t assume it’s the same as a previous year.

    does this Sony unit turn on the rear camera when you switch to reverse? or would you have to do it manually through the touch screen

    • @SoundsGoodStereo
      @SoundsGoodStereo  4 роки тому +1

      It will automatically do it if you add a reverse trigger. Just follow the instructions and it will work like a factory system.
