Thanks for describing all the locations. Had a shop try to tell me it wad an 8.8hr job to replace the blend actuator. What a rip off. They wanted $1217 for the job.😅
You are awesome. I really needed this tutorial to get me through the winter.
You are so welcome! They can be frustrating trying to figure out what’s going on but you got this
Only video I've seen mentioning the one behind the dash on the passenger side, thank you! I believe that is the one I might have to try and fix. When I turn the heat on and different modes such as floor & dash vents, it feels as if it's barely blowing out of them but if I switch it to just the dash vents on high almost it seems to blow out alright. I replaced the passenger side lower(most difficult one). Before it was only blowing heat out the driver side now heat works on both sides.
The really hard one to get to is for the fresh air or cabin blend door. It might be some of the problem but I would check your filter first. The in-cabin filter is going to cause a massive backup if it is clogged or dirty. You could even just pull the filter out and put the door back with no filter installed to see if there is a difference. From what it sounds like your heat is working and where the air is coming out of is working so thats good and bad. Good because those are working but bad because those are the easy ones to get to. One thing you can check is to push the button above the screen second from the right that looks like a car with an arrow in it. While pushing it be on the passenger side and listen for the actuator to run. Best of luck let me know hoe it goes interested what the problem is.
Good DIY vid. I did the passenger side yesterday. The upper one was a real b17ch for me to get that top screw b'c it was overtightened - the easiest most visible screw. The lower one was ok once brought out a foot ottoman from the living room out to the car so I could lie down face up and get to it from underneath. Thank god most of the screws weren't too tight. Today I need to do the Driver side one. Hopefully it's easier than the 2 on passenger side. I had to disconnect the battery to really get them to reset. Unplugging the HVAC fuse (which is another b17ch to get to) didn't work for me. I hate GM for putting all this stuff in such a difficult to reach place - including the damn fuse box which is supposed to be accessible. I got a 3 pack on Amazon for $40.
The drivers side isn’t that bad. The worst is if your right handed it makes the screw goofy to try and grab some that hand doesn’t have a good angle to reach
Thank you I help me out you did a very good job of explaining how it works and I like the extra showing how it works by making a go up and down and showing us out on the camera
Glad it helped!
Well I have a different situation and I need your advice bout it my front passenger and driver vents working fine while the rear vents blowing hot air what might be my problem here?
Thank you, this worked for me!!
Glad it helped!
Cheers for the video bro.
Are the actuators the same part number? the T3983001?
My blend door is shot and thought i'd replace the other temperature ones at the same time.
Chur
They are all the same. I ordered 3 and replaced two and had a backup
Is there one for the rear temp controller? And where is that located?
The rear temp I believe is located the lowest under the shifter area. The duct work for the rear run beneath the center of the car I believe
Thank you so much. Your video helped a lot. God bless.
You're welcome!
Great video. My 2011 Traverse only blows hot air in the front (both driver's side and passenger side) The rear will blow hot or cold when the rear controls are adjusted. I am able to adjust air location (floor, face, defrost) Do you think it is the driver's side actuator/module that is causing only hot air to blow in the front? Thanks
Should be the module on the drivers side
Same is happening to me on 2010 Acadia...front vents blow warm air while rear vents are blowing cold air...before this started I heard some clicking by the drivers side...🤷🏻♂️
Try disconnecting the battery underneath the floor behind the passenger seat first for 10 mins. Reconnect and set the HVAC to Auto and let it relearn. That might fix it. If not, then it could be one of the 2 rear actuators on the passenger side in the trunk.
2011 Acadia, which actuator controls the windshield defrost? I have hot/cold coming out of the dash just fine but nothing for feet or defrost.
The one I replace is the selector actuator. The video goes over how to replace it and how to check to see what does what. Give it a good watch and it should tell you everything you need to know
Thank you bro save me a lot of time it was on my driver side didn’t have to do all the other shit
That’s awesome glad you got it fixed
I can not get the 3 prongs that hold the panel up that needs to be removed out. What is the best way to do that? Thank you
Which panel are you trying to take out? Under the glovebox or the drivers seat?
hi so when i bought the acadia i replaced the blend door actuator. it worked for maybe a week. since then ive replaced it 2 more times but its still stuck on the face vents only. could it be the actual control module? both temperature ones work properly.
Take one of the other modals out and swap it with one that is known to work. Might be a cheaper one that doesn’t like something or it might be a shorted wire. You can eliminate if it is a bad actuator if you just switch it. Then if the heater gets stuck on a temp it’s a bad actuator brand. If the old one you swapped to the blend door breaks it’s a problem with that circuit most likely
Try disconnecting the battery underneath the floor behind the passenger seat first for 10 mins. Reconnect and set the HVAC to Auto and let it relearn.
Question for you dude, this is really helpful but I have to replace the driver and blend door, are they the same parts?
Same part for all 4 under the dash. Drivers is one of the easier to replace
Hello bro nice video. The problem on my Chevy traverse 2012 is that there’s no air blowing out the front defrost as well as my front vents. But the air blows out the 2nd and 3rd row vents. Any idea here ?
The 2nd and 3rd row would run off its own system. I would check the front air selection actuator to see if it’s moving. It’s the one I replaced in my video. That’s the one that gets used the most and wears out. 99% sure that’s your issue
@@ModdingAddiction I appreciate it bro, me and my friend are gonna follow this video and change my actuator and I’ll let you know if it helped
Thanks man!!!
Your welcome. Good luck with the install
I'm not sure what you call "bleeding the brakes" does for expelling energy. Could you explain?
It takes any residual energy in the system and try’s to turn the brake lights on. Since there is no power source it drains the energy in the system so there isn’t a voltage in the wires
How do you feel the cold air come out if the a/c (cold ) ligth never turn on (gree)???
Is the light burnt out? Is it actually ac cold air or is it just blowing air
My ac & heater both work fine my only issue is the floor & the dash vent both stay on when i only want dash vents to be on. What can my problem be?? If i only want floor vents to be on the dash vents blow air aswell. Hopefully u guys understand my question
Does any other function work when trying to switch were the air is coming from? If so then it might be miss aligned or sticking. If there is no change in where the air is coming from no matter what you select I would say look at your blend door actuator
@@ModdingAddiction yes when i put on defrost i get air from dash vents too. Also when i have it on floor vent i get air on dash vents aswell 🤦🏻♂️. Where is the blend actuator located at? Its for 2012 chevy traverse
Update: I replaced door blend actuator & now it works 👍🏼
What would happen if I keep it stuck on cold would that break it or were you just suggesting neutral?
It will just be on cold. The switch is sending signal to a broken part. Now assuming there is no electrical issues nothing will happen. If there is electrical issues it might melt itself trying to send power to nothing
Does the Passenger temperature switch also controls the rear temp of the car?
No the rear is below the center console. It is the lowest one
@@ModdingAddiction thank you for sharing your knowledge and the reply!
What if nothing in the front is working hot or cold no air is blowing, but rear air is working good??
The rear is on a separate system that is working still. I would start checking what is working in the front. Pull the panels off so you can see the actuators and start pushing button to see what is working. That will be the easiest way. If I was to guess it’s the selector for where the air is coming out. Ie vent, face, feet. This one has gone out twice on me. The next would be the hard one I haven’t done a video on bringing air into the cabin
Thanks a million you're amazing you did great let your wife know I said she's lucky to have you😂
Glad I could help
What about if the rear AC is blowing hot air and the front blows cold air
The front and rear are two separate systems so it sounds like everything is working fine???
Which scan tool are you using?
Launch x431 pro mini. I like it but I think the next one is going to be an autel
The rear ac system works fine the front ac stopped working... i doubt its the button selection it shows its making the change but zero air out the front vents
The buttons will show it trying to change but won’t. The buttons are trying to send out the signal but the actuator is not responding. It should be easy to hear after you push the button for any function to hear them operate. Might listen on both sides
@@ModdingAddiction turned out it was the wiring for the blower motor
Like watching a little kid wearing his dads hat but he’s a grown man that should be able to make good decisions.
It's very distracting lol
My traverse blowing hot on driver side cold on passenger I bought part wish me luck. Also wipers stopped I checked fuse then relay under hood nothing. It ended up being wiper control switch or directional arm. 50 bucks fixed easiest fix ever
You got this. It’s going to the lower one I believe. It’s not going to be the one I replaced in this video but you got this
Please which state are you?
Washington
I fixed this twice now on my traverse. Pain in the ass. And the fact that this POS defaults full hot is the dumbest thing in the world
Right it’s awesome when is fails in the middle of the summer and it’s already so hot
this is a GMC Acadia, not a Traverse. They do not have the same parts.
I should know, I actually own both vehicles.
I was told by the dealer when researching that they would work and be interchangeable. Not saying that the dealer is perfect because they mess stuff up all the tome
It's called the GM Lambda platform. Enclave, Traverse, Acadia all have the same parts. It's a global platform. It's way too expensive for GM to engineer separate platforms for each of the world's 195 soverign nations, hence "global platform".
Could you not find a hat that fits?
Nope
