Holy shit I never realized he had 20 triples that year. He actually had a 20/20/20/20 season. 20 doubles, 20 triples, 20 hrs, 20 stolen bases. Absolutely bonkers
@superdman2276 Man 07 Rollins was insane. I remember him and Howard going back to back on MVPs and swearing that Utley was gonna squeak one out also. Love the current phillies squad. But damn that 2006-2012 era was incredible
Seeing that a .773 OPS only equated to a 98 OPS+ in 2006 really makes me grateful for the “plus” stats. In 2025, a .773 would be what, a 110 or 115 OPS+?
@@kristopherwilson506 worth mentioning the pirates have a 101 park factor meaning that they're basically average, though they are something of a doubles paradise so that helps doubles hitters a bit. The + matters a lot here because Ezequiel Tovar's .763 meant an OPS+ of 103 as a Rockie (hitter park) while LaMonte Wade's .761 in San Francisco (pitcher park) was worth 121 OPS+.
Honestly Curtis just feels like someone who would be put in the HOF by the veterans committee. Great person, loved by fans, loved by teammates, and just one of the likeable stars in recent memory.
I kinda hate the fact that the VC uses vibes to let players in that weren't deemed worthy by the writers...but I think I might be willing to make an exception for Grandyman. @@StefanWB I personally am fine with the VC keeping out players that are bad people. It celebrates the people who had the career and I think it is okay if they don't want to celebrate certain people due to hateful rhetoric or generally being an asshole. So, I work at Citifield in retail. When Granderson was traded, they showed him going around and giving ice cream to Mets employees. What they didn't show was him coming to our little cafeteria and giving us ice cream and thanking us for all the hard work we do. Every time he came back as a visitor and I passed by him in the employee tunnel, he always had a kind and gentle smile on his face. 100000% a class act and a gentleman. Curtis Granderson is one of my all-time favorite players. As you mentioned, he was a great player and has been a great community leader/ambassador for the sport. As a black baseball fan, I always loved how he always wore his socks high, since he said he did it in tribute to Jackie Robinson and the players of the Negro League.
Thank you Jolly, for making this amazing video. Granderson is also one of my favorite baseball players of all time, and if I'm being honest, he's probably my favorite player of all time, as well as one of my favorite Mets players from the 2010s. He was one of the reasons I started watching Mets games and became a Mets fan back when we went on that amazing World Series run. Loved seeing him perform on the field as well as being just an amazing and genuine charitable person off the field. Will always love his time with the Mets and loved seeing his leadoff home runs. Truly sensational video, and I'm sad he fell off the Hall of Fame ballot this year. I personally think he deserves to be in the Hall of Fame with both his on and off the field efforts, but that's just me. LFGM
Curtis Granderson was my Tiger and my favorite ball player for a very long time. He possessed the level of talent and class baseball dads can only dream of. Hating on this man is an unacceptable take. Thank you for taking the time to highlight his accomplishments on and off the field. Baseball needs more Curtis Grandersons
It was impossible not to love him here in Detroit. If it werent for Cabrera, he'd be the #1 most charming Tiger in the modern era 😄 It's close, could even be a tie. Who is your current favorites on the Tigers? For me it's Torkelson and Olson. Both of them might need a bit of practice but when they are hot, theyre hot. Both are skilled AF. I think Torkelson might be one of the most solid first baseman fielders in the league. And his plate discipline is one of the highest on the team. If only his swings connected more often. I'm not sure I will even get to see him play this year, but thankfully he's still young (though he looks 35 😂). I am excited about Torres. And another year with Carpenter and Greene.
@ValCronin Sadly, I don't live in Michigan anymore and don't follow the Tigers as closely as I did before. Watching Skubal in the playoffs was awesome and I can't help but love the vibe (and stache) of Jake Rogers. I also enjoyed watching Magglio and Pudge. Detroit has a tendency to acquire outfielders that I like cheering for like Granderson, Jackson, Magglio, Jaque Jones and even Riley Green. Nobody will ever have the effect Miggy had. So glad the Tigers are relevant again in the MLB!
When jolly has the exact same HoF ballot as me…also CG3 was my favorite ex Yankee Met ever. He is just an awesome human being and an even better person. Such an infectious personality he was special on that 15 team.
The first baseball jersey I ever got was an oversized Curtis Granderson jersey in 2007 when I was 10. It's been nearly 20 years since then, it actually fits me now, and I wear that thing every chance I get. Granderson will always be my favorite Tiger and my favorite baseball player ever.
I yelled at him and waved as he ran by to the outfield at Target Field back in the day. He turned, smiled and waved back. It was really nice. Gotta love the Grandyman.
I remember I went to a game in 2015 and sat along the RF line. In between innings he stopped to sign balls for us with the biggest smile on his face and took a selfie with my brother. The social media team took a picture of the moment and posted it on their social media where you could see me with an even bigger smile and in awe to be in that moment and it always reminds me how awesome the Grandyman was. A great ball player and even better human
He’s actually my favorite baseball player of all time! I loved watching him on the Mets hitting lead off homers. He’s one of the reasons why I’m a Mets fan today.
wow, same here for me! word for word, he is my favorite baseball player of all time as well, and he was one of the main reasons I became a Mets fan back in 2015 when we had that World Series run. Loved seeing him perform on the field as well as being just an amazing and genuine charitable person off the field. Will always love his time with the Mets and loved seeing his leadoff home runs.
Curtis is my favorite player so I was very happy to listen to you talk about him for fifteen minutes! Made me smile. I didn’t know he was doing postseason coverage as early as 08, cool to know!
LOVE the opening. Loved the walkup and the green screen and the context. Fabulous work as always. As a Yankee fan, I only have fond memories of Granderson, and was unaware of his philanthropy. Thank you for widening my knowledge on this, as you always do.
I work at a Chicago area grocery chain that Curtis and his foundation partners with where they raise money/food for families facing food insecurity. I've had the fortune of meeting him a couple of times due to this and he couldn't be any nicer of a person
My dad coached Curtis in Little League back in the day and he's always taken care of us with tickets to games, whether in NY or Chicago. The few times I've interacted with him in person, he's been humble and gracious. He may not be worthy of the HOF but he's a HOF person. Easily the greatest person I've had the pleasure of knowing.
Regardless of what he said about the whole NY fan thing, as a Yankee fan the Grandy man will hold a special place in my baseball heart. Opening week in April 2010 I got to go to Yanks vs Sox in Boston (first time at Fenway) and he smacked an extra inning homer off of Jonathan Papelbon to eventually win the game 4-3. Nothing but fond memories of Granderson in pinstripes, love this video.
Dude was such a solid player and is, by all accounts, a GREAT guy. I genuinely cant think of a more humble athlete. He could've hit 4 grand slams in a game and his initial thought in the postgame interview would be to credit his teammates for getting on base.
One of my favorite players and the nicest guy I met. He always made sure to sign autographs for everyone and was super down to earth. Thanks for making this video!
This is the kind of video I have always wanted to see made. Curtis was the reason I wanted to play centerfield, he signed a baseball for me at a rehab assignment in Toledo and talked to me for like 5 minutes as a kid. He will always be my favorite baseball player
Incredibly glad you made this video. Grandy once ran over and gave me a fist bump while running in from the outfield during batting practice. Still have chills from this moment. Fav guy
One of my favorite players along with Torii Hunter. Crazy how similar careers they had with the same amount of home runs and the fact they both were hall of fame people. Would love a Torii Hunter video in the future, and it's awesome to see you give Curtis Granderson his flowers.

I was there for the game at 2:20 May 2006, tigers went down 1 run off a Ken Griffey Jr. Grandslam in the 7th. It was bottom of the 9th, 2 outs, with the rookie Granderson at bat, he hit the opposite field HR that BARELY made it over the fence to tie the game. Comerica was NUTZ. Tigers would walk off in the bottom of the 10th on an error by the SS throwing the 1st. Still to this day one of my fondest memories of baseball.

Grandson is one of my favorite players all time lifetime Tigers fan and he was the only person I ever had sign a ball also watched him hit an inside the park home run against the Yankees that day it was pretty cool
I knew Curtis Granison's father. He was once my PE teacher at Nathan Hale elementary school back in 2005/2006 out here in Chicago. Strict man but a very respected man. He had his son's trophies like behind the case when he used to play for the Detroit Tigers.
If he ever gets into the HoF, I just hope like hell it's in a Tigers jersey. One of my favorite players growing up and him robbing Grady Sizemore of a gaming wining HR in CLE will always live in my memory.
As a young Yankees fan at the time the real New Yorkers comment stung a bit but man I think Grandy could punch me in my face and tell me my moms a horrible person and I would apologize to him. He was and seemingly still is just too likable of a person and ballplayer. All respect to 14
Would love to see you cover Bernie Williams. Probably the most overlooked piece of the 90s/00s Yankees dynasty and someone whose career stats including the playoffs put him as a first ballot "Hall of Good" candidate, but just shy of reaching Cooperstown.

I knew Curtis Granison's father. He was once my PE teacher at Nathan Hale elementary school back in 2005/2006 out here in Chicago. Strict man but a very respected man. He had his son's trophies like behind the case when he used to play for the Detroit Tigers.
As a Tigers fan, thank you for putting the Detroit one center.
As a brewers fan, I can confirm that I still think about those deep fly outs in the 2018 NLCS all too often 😓
One of my favorite ballplayers growing up. Wore two phiten necklaces in HS baseball bc of this guy.
If he ever gets into the HoF, I just hope like hell it's in a Tigers jersey. One of my favorite players growing up and him robbing Grady Sizemore of a gaming wining HR in CLE will always live in my memory.
That Granderson hit that was just short of a homer in Milwaukee was the most "that shit is gone" hit ever and it just.... didnt go out
Love that his BB Ref page is him in a tigers uniform
Classy video.
Loved watching this guy
As a young Yankees fan at the time the real New Yorkers comment stung a bit but man I think Grandy could punch me in my face and tell me my moms a horrible person and I would apologize to him. He was and seemingly still is just too likable of a person and ballplayer. All respect to 14
Would love to see you cover Bernie Williams.
Probably the most overlooked piece of the 90s/00s Yankees dynasty and someone whose career stats including the playoffs put him as a first ballot "Hall of Good" candidate, but just shy of reaching Cooperstown.
