I had a 1999 5-speed MT 4Runner, 4WD with rear lockers for 15 years and 120K miles, and I loved her. I considered her to be an unusually useful sports car. She was simple and straightforward and a joy to drive! New England rust finally claimed her, but as recently as 4 mos. ago, I took her on a 1K mile trip. There was never any worry about reliability, right up until a couple of expensive mechanical issues cropped up. If not for the rust, I would have fixed her, but I did do the next best thing. I sold her to an enthusiast who planned to rebuild her. He says he has done 10 of them, so it looks like my old companion will live again!
Shoot I’m just learning to drive a manual for fun and as my old pilot comes to an end and I need a new car I’m strung up on automatic or manual which is a bit tough to find especially on a budget in the U.S 😂
This looks like something Arnie or Sly would have driven in 80's action flick. The Land Rovers and G63s are "higher class" and snobbish. Put those in Bond films. This Jeep is something that my 8 year old inner child would love.
I live in a similar are with roads that get wrecked by Winter. I always wanted to get a wrangler so I don't have to worry about pot holes and they look great. Only issue I have trouble with is their ancient steering that feels horrible on the highway. I hope they do like the Ford Bronco in the next iteration and make better choices for the steering feel and road manners. 🤞
The best tip my brother gave me when he taught me to drive was, "see it coming," be aware of other people and what they are doing and yes, drive calmly.
I have a 2 door JK Manual Transmission and I just rebuilt it with 37s and Falcon Shocks with NO LIFT (and everything else Heavy Duty). My question is, How does a supercharger feel ? Especially when you let go of the gas pedal, does it feel like a 'vacuum' is slowing down the engine? I feel like it 'Inhales' only when you are stepping on the gas.. when you let go, it suffocates. Is this analogy right when it comes to the driving feel of supercharged Jeeps? I need to decide soon... Thank you all for your help..
Here’s a question about manual, is it bad to let the clutch out before the revs drop, when shifting. My car has some bad rev hang, will I slip my clutch if I re engage it before the rpm’s drop when going to shift?
My boy said it won’t leave you on the side of the road like a defender. As a 2014 jku owner….oh it will…..my anti theft system schizes sometimes and won’t let me start, and my pigtail wiring harness on my starter wiggles loose and causes a no start no crank. Let me tell you, first time the starter issue happened it was 23 degrees and I just got out of my 9pm organic chem…I lost my mind scared. I live an hour and 30 away from campus 🫠
Manual JKU owner here. This thing looks even more of a hoot to drive. The roof is also droolworthy.
Same here! The 1 to 2 shift is clunky. I found holding the clutch midway before completing releasing helps a bit.
The type of Jeep Doug would want to host on Cars and Bids.

Good way to start my lunch break with a Tedward video 👍
The answer is always "manual".
Gotta love manual cars.

I find it funny that in a weird way, this is kind of a Maserati engine in a Jeep. This Jeep sounds fantastic though!
I have a 3.6 with a manual. Bought the Borla Climber S-Type exhaust. What a glorious sound, almost a gritty sports car sound.
It does look amazingly Defenderish from the outside. The interior is 100% Jeep. Not sure if that is good or bad. Neat concept though.
Day 12 of asking Tedward to drive the S60R (that’s a really deffender looking ahh Jeep, at least from the side lol)
Volvo gang stand up
Why do so many children keep saying 'ahh' online now
I have a big turbo s60r I’d love for him to deive
as an owner of a 2 dr willy’s 6 speed, wrangling the wrangler is integral in the driving experiance
"made me do a double take when i saw it from the back"
😏
Awesome video to start the weekend Ted!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Can’t believe I’m saying this but I’m impressed with the exhaust. Sounds pretty damn good😂
10:08 i hoped to see you go full speed across that speed bump. The suspension should not care.

Imagine this beast off-road
1-2 shift is ruff when you’re not locked in

Awesome review Tom! My first manual car was a 2006 Jeep Wrangler X and it was the worst vehicle to learn manual on 😂 I do miss that vehicle tho.
Love how this thing sounds I'm imagining a 370z driving down the road yet it's a 2.1/4 ton body on frame vehicle lol.
Looks like something out of a Star Wars movie! Could imagine Luke Skywalker or Princess Leia driving it
Def has storm trooper vibe!
I wasn't aware you had OCD, it's a real honest PITA but I have yet to leave my garage open, what the insatiable itch to keep checking gets you 🤣
i have a car that doen't honk when you lock it repeatedly and I always lock it like 300 times lol
Jeep interiors are pretty nice ngl, I want one but there's 0 chance getting them here
Cool lookin!
I could see that car in some action movie, in some snowy environment, being chased by sharks, tornado's and dinosaurs lol.
w vid
The MT alone is enough to sell me! Unfortunately, I still can’t afford to buy more than a couple…
depends...only if it's a 4xe and the plug is rated for supercharging... ⚡⚡⚡
review a 8J TTRS!
You’ve made me want to practice driving a manual and get a BMW , thank you “uncle” tedward
Can you drive a vw atlas? Specifically a vr6 model i wanna see what you think about the car
What is the point of those 2 cables from the windshield to the front of the hood??
Honesty I was wondering the same thing. It seemingly helps with nothing 😆
It whacks branches and such away from the windshield when you're off-roading
Ahhh. Gotcha. That makes sense
All this stuff but.... Wind up windows!? lol😂
Doors come off anyway lol
Hey Tedward I got my license today and what are some more pointers you would give to a new driver
Be patient. Assume everyone is insane.

Whats all the options $ cost?
🤩
I guarantee you that jeep hasnt seen mud in 5000 miles
If the Wrangler was made in England
Like that is a manual
If you've never been able to decide between a Land Rover Defender and a Lotus Evora, all of your problems have been solved.
The shift knob is that big because most jeep owners have sausage fingers 😂
First😢
283 Horsepower at 6,400 and 260 Pound Feet of Torque at 4400

Would you recommend JL to avoid JK issues, or does JL have issues of their own?
