Jeep should keep building more manual vehicles
A manual is the best anti theft device to have.
No kidding. I had my oil changed recently. I had to pull it in to the station because out of 5 employees no one could operate a manual.
lets keep pretending that people who steal cars for a living wouldnt know how to drive a manual 🙄
@@bobby6110 most people stealing cars in they twenties at oldest 😭🙏
I absolutely love my manual Gladiator Rubicon! Yeah, the numb clutch pedal, tall gearing, and low-torque 3.6L aren't ideal, but there's just something special about a pickup truck with 3 pedals. Especially one that is comfortable, has a decent bed, can tow whatever I need to, and can haul the whole family around. And bonus points for the removable top/doors :)
I have a JLU Sport with a manual transmission. Regeared to 4.88s. it's not bad, but the transmission is still clunky. It's a jeep, not a BMW, so the transmission will never be smooth or quick but even after driving it for almost 3 years it's still jerky. Ah well. I'll get it paid off and I'll get a second jeep with an auto so I can choose which one I drive.n😂
Nice that you can still get the manual in some cars as many manufacturers are not making them anymore due to a low take rate. Good video.
I love that they still have manual choices. I've been driving one since the 80's and even taught my son (now 30) how to drive one. He has an older stick shift Camry and he loves that thing. I'm not much of a Jeep fan though.
Thanks for doing a manual trans....that's what Jeeps are supposed have.....it keeps with it's heritage. Thanks
I just picked up a 2023 Wrangler Willys with the manual. I have yet to use the 6th speed. You can cruise all day on the highway at 65-70 in 5th. I wish Jeep would of made it a 5-speed manual and tucked the reverse gear down and into the right where the 6th speed is now.

You can draw a direct line of correlation between America’s decline and the decline in the number of vehicles available with a manual transmission in this country.
I have a manual gladiator. I'm glad I did choose the manual after some of the auto transmission issues some other people have had with their wranglers I know. To another viewers point, I don't worry about it getting stolen at all, lol....only thing I wish they would do is change the ratios, 6th gear is absolutely useless and the rpms don't change at all basically. So I treat it as a 4 speed with overdrive. It does need more low end torque....can't believe that's 67k though, totally ridiculous. My willys sport was 40k and it's in Gobi which was an extra 500 bucks even. There is no way there is 27k worth of upgrades.....I agree Ben, the clutch is easier to stall, it doesn't punish your leg but it's catch point is too quick.
I agree with you 100% and commented similarly above.
So my input: i currently have a 2009 colorado 5 speed for a daily. I built my 1944 Willys MB WWII Jeep. I love my truck, but heaven forbid something happens to it, i'm leaning to a gladiator more than a tacoma (i've driven a tacoma, not yet a gladiator). I do want the stick, but i've been told the auto is superior all around. I will see when that day comes.
Manual for me, although its severely underpowered with that V6, needs an engine with at least 350ftlbs of torque. and no it doesn't need the 392, just a decent engine, the 5.7 would be lots.
I'm not 100 percent sure of the longevity but there's a UA-cam video of the 5.7 hemi working with the stock manual.
@@xanderjackson8518it works but the hemi is over the torque limit spec for this gearbox, so you’re kind of in a no man’s land. The manual from the challenger is also a no go because it takes away the low 1st gear that we need.
My first car was a 94 Cherokee Country, inline 6 with a 5 speed manual transmission. I loved it and still miss it.
It seems to me that all those inline 6 cylinders were bullet-proof, regardless of who made them.
As a JTR 6 speed owner I can tell you the 8 speed auto is superior in every single performance and reliability aspect except crawl ratio. The only reason I have the six speed is because I absolutely adore driving stick.
in some cars 50% of the purchasers opt for a manual transmission this particular jeep isn't one of them though
Insane Jeep Ben !! ❤❤
I wanted a Tacoma, but now I want a gladiator, I don’t do off-road, just regular driving, but do need a pick up bed for restaurant groceries. And I need help Sport S or Willys? I love the Sahara look, I would like a Renegade with everything painted and Sahara rims, more city look.
The Renegades are lower end quality. Stay away from them. I have a Wrangler Willys and I would recommend it. Get the Gladiator Willys. At the beginning of this year the dealers were giving steep discounts to clear of lots of the 2023 model. The Willys is the poor man's Rubicon. You get the Rubicon suspension and wheels and a locking rear diff to boot.
It would be great if the sticker was under $50k😂
Speak for yourself. I bought a Gladiator Rubicon manual in 2021. I have 68k miles on it. Love it. It’s not a Honda transmission but it’s light yet solid.
I wanted to see the rear seat arm rest!
1032 pound payload?
Isn’t the Maverick like 1500?
Yeah
You should rev it up and dump the clutch for once, I wanna see a burnout
The manual in the Jeep isn't great (the new Bronco's manual is better), and it doesn't help that it's paired with that Pentastar dog. With that in mind, you have to drive it accordingly. The gearing is different than the auto, so you're going to need to push it past 3000 RPM to get into the power band. Keep your shifts in the 2500-4000 range and you'll get better performance and a better idea of what the truck is capable of. Just keep in mind, driving a manual isn't about speed ( i.e. you kept comparing it to the auto and saying the auto was faster), it's about control, performance, and driver engagement/skill. The only place an auto is better is at a drag strip. In every other instance, I'll take a manual.
Sounds like a pain in the ass for use as a daily driver. Manual was OK in 1969 because automatics were crap. But it is 2024, and automatic transmissions are awesome.
I heard the tie rods are snapping on the new Bronco's during off roading. Every brand has their sins.
Those broncos have more recalls and reliability issues than you can count. Also, you can only get a manual bronco with a turbo 4 cylinder which is a hard pass for me
I love my '24 Rubicon 6-spd manual. It's so fun to drive. I hope Jeep keeps the manual alive. Believe it or not, the manual isn't that hard to drive offroad. I've now done 1 badge of honor trail, a nd a bunch of greens and blues. The amount of times you need to use the clutch is surprisingly low. The crawl ratio and gearing in these offroad is amazing. The Jeep just crawls over things and does a lot of the work for you.
What happens when that trim and screen get wet
The world ends
WAS THAT PRICE A TYPO?!
No bro, they charge like $7,900 per sticker
RUBICON- all caps
That's extra 💰
Jeep should upgrade this weak engine and make 35 inch tires a standard on Rubicon trim and be more reasonable in pricing.
I'm more of a manual sports car person. Not a fan of manual off road vehicles.
Expensive - yes. But still $35,000 cheaper than the Ineos Grenadier pick up truck.
Yeah, and go down to your local auto parts store for an oil filter on that Grenadier.
@@AStanton1966 doesnt it just use the same filter for a BMW as it is a BMW engine? So that should be easy.
Unless you grew up in 50s, 60s or 70s .no one can drive a stick.
I would add that this statement is true only in the USA
I’m 32 and have only exclusively driven stick my entire life. Miami born and raised.
It’s a dodge no thanks lol
It’s a jeep. Not owned by Dodge or even Chrysler anymore. If you wanted to be accurate you’d say it’s a Pugeot now
@@Crayonmuncher11 stallantis
@@luisvilla799 yes but stellantis was formed after FCA and another company merged. That other company was primarily French brands like Peugeot
@@Crayonmuncher11it’s FCA which is FIAT-Chrysler Automobiles. Chrysler bought AMC who owned Jeep in the 80s exclusively to gain the Jeep brand. The legendary 4.0L comes from AMC. In here, The engine is the 3.6L Pentastar which is 100% a Chrysler engine, and a good engine at that. The infotainment cluster is UConnect which, you guessed it, is Chrysler. Even the blind spot monitor logo is the same exact triangle they use in the RAM trucks.
And more reliable than the current gen Tacoma too lol
Automatic
🎉👍👍💖👍👍🎉
This is really cute. And colorful. Of course, it doesn't say a damn thing. Even in 1st grade kids are encouraged by teacher Miss Friendly to use words to communicate. That is basically what grade school is all about. By the time you are in 3rd grade, writing in words actually works fairly well.
The ugliest vehicle in America. Fact! Overpriced. Poor build quality. Constant recalls. This vehicle spends more time in the shop than on the road. I’ll pass on this one. Cheers!
All true. There is one more relevant fact about this vehicle- it is not in any way a pickup truck. Therefore, it is useless if the buyer wants a pickup truck. In a very real way, it looks kind of cool. But it looks kind of cool in the same way a goat with a saddle would look kinda cool. Cute, but ridiculous. If you want to really ride, you just gotta put a horse under that saddle.
@@roberthenry9319 well stated! Cheers!
