You can go back to default with "adb shell wm overscan 0,0,0,0".

This is not a permanent fix, although in current ver. It has a little arrow key in the bottom left & tapping the dead bar doesn't do anything in any app.
The reason this method is useless is because it is going to be reset to 0 from -100 everytime you restart the phone...
Also -100 isn't the proper number because it hides the expanded screenshot text & also the dialer & camera icon on the lockscreen it drags those two icons lower halfway making the problem appear somewhere else by fixing it here,
Although using -50 instead of -100 keeps the icons low but not cropped on lockscreen aswell as expanded screenshot text visible.
Regardless since in the new update the dead bar is only an eye sore & not a practical issue I've adapted to it although yes I'd hope it doesn't exist at all & is the way it was in Android 9.
But until the point its actually included in a next update this method isn't a proper fix, at all, also -50 to -80 are the right values anything lower or higher is pointless. Funny how you didn't notice these things before investing all the time in making the video. Props for the dedication but sadly its not worth it as its resetted eveytime you reboot.
i have a bug on my OP7T pro, when i am calling even though the phone is on my ear. The screen random activates as if i am getting the phone off my ear. this means that i can end the call with my cheek unintentionally. does anyone have the same problem? and how can i fix this. thanks alot
For the people that liked my post. In the meantime I found out that it is the proximity sensor. One Plus uses an AI proximity sensor which is not accurate. These sensors are made by elliptic labs. Every one plus 7 owner must have this problem because they all use the same sensor. It's a big issue in my opinion. They should bring a stable software update for this. The threads on the OP community app is also piling up with this issue

What launcher are you using? My apps don't go all the way down to the bottom of the screen
Hw do you get your icons to the bottom on the home screen? I have a noticeable gap on mine thank you.
It's a custom launcher. Probably nova launcher
it says "unkown command : overscan"
there is a bug on this one on my 6T. I've fixed the empty space below the keyboard, but when you go to landscape and try to adjust the volume, the adjustment bar is pushed slightly outside the screen, so I've reverted back the original setting and hoping OnePlus could fix this properly via software update. but thanks anyway. 🙂

just make sure you are on the latest OxygenOS 10.3.2
sometimes, you thumbs is hard to reach the bottom area like spacebar, emojis, numeric button.. that's why developer make a padded area below, just like iphone x.

The overscan command doesn't work. It throws an error Unknown command: overscan
this messes the landscape keyboard very badly .... :) good video but the fix is not that good to be honest

The matter is if you switch on the "Hide the bottom bar" under the gesture setting the text on the bottom border sinks and cannot be scroll up. E.g UA-cam video quality

I have the same issue in my oneplus 7 but the problem is this fixes the keyboard but.. messes up other apps. like youtube and everything when you rotate your screen. Additionally my dead space also has a minimize button on the bottom left and and a input select button the bottom right which are so annoying and even cause lags. So the fix is found is go to settings > accessibility and turn it on. That way atleast the annoying input selector goes away
I did this ADB change and despite the gap getting removed, some apps were not showing up properly: facebook, UA-cam mainly. So I went ahead and entered the default values to revert the change: adb shell wm overscan 0,0,0,0 hoprfully the change will be somehow be official on Gboard. Perhaps moving to swift key may be a good idea to get rid of the gap thru this app instead.
what about android 11?
Well there's a question i wanna ask. The adb values "-100" is it the value that removes the dead space. Because when i did run this command. It did worked BUT i still have some little dead space left. I am using OP7TPro.
The reason why i did run this adb command.
The recent Gboard update has an arrow like this "^" on the bottom left corner which really used to annoy me. I got rid of that but i stall have like a little gap left below the Gboard.
So that adb command value is it changeable? Like from -100 to something like -150 or something like that?

2) Go to settings , after that go to google , now on the top right corner there's 3 dot ... On clicking them u will see SEND DATA USAGE ... what do u have say about that ? Do this aloa drains up the battery ?

Now lock your phone and press power button. Voice and camera icon are half cut. The same when you go to Google photos, video file and try to open any movies. Share icon is cut as well...

Make sure you enable usb debugging in the developer options on your phone. This will make the device recognizable to adb and your pc. Command will then read "device" instead of "unauthorized".
For those seeing this late It no longer works on Android 11 Google removed this feature

thank you it helped me a lot. it worked on my oneplus 7t pro. didn't expect for it to work. i just have one question though, will there be any problem on my software device after this debugging process?
The one thing I have noticed that in some apps, the ui elements extend pass the bottom screen which can be annoying but definitely less annoying than the dead space. Aside from that, no other issues. Remember, everything can be restored to default.

Procedure is the same but you may need a different value from -100. Try -50, -75 working your way up. If you run into problems, set it back to the default 0.

Did you happen to flip your ringer switch to silent? I've done this on a few phones now and haven't run into this.
@@JTTR no I haven't I just downloaded the adb on PC while the phone is connected then it's switch off and running a mode while it's installing on the PC. After that everything works correctly but when I take off the USB from the PC vibration stopped when I put it again it's back normal. Same when I charge the phone
