The sequels sucked imo. Idk, I think the main reason for it sucked for me is that this is more "real life" type situations as a high school kid and the sequels were more professional fighting. Yeah, when this came out I was 20 and I was still getting in fights so it's definitely more relatable. This movie probably caused me and some of my friends to get into fights bc we were so pumped up lol.

Very true! After watching this movie I became health conscience and went to the gym more often. Every Time I feel like slacking and skipping out on the gym I watch this movie!
When they show up to school after it’s basically the most realistic part of this movie. I’ve been a ring announcer for 20 years and it pretty much happens like this. You beat the crap out of each other and then hug at the end. Fighting solves everything.
Since the day this Movie came out it's been my favorite. It spoke to me on so many different levels. "everyone has their fight" , "you control the outcome" , "breathe with each strike" this movie so deep and meaningful if you understand it fully. Anyone who loves this movie gimme a like!! ❤️
Mid 2000 movies were weird af, people did dance battles in the street and used their cars as speakers. Now if this went down cops would of rocked their world
Firstly cops would only show if there was a huge disturbance. They look like they're holding an event with private security and nobody in the audience seems bothered by what's going on and there are no nearby residents to complain about the loud ass noise... I agree with above comment, this was more natural than wierd.

I loved this movie! As a western martial arts/fighting film, it’s second to only The Karate Kid and Warrior. This kinda shows the truth to what it’s like to be an MMA fighter. It’s not as fun as it looks. Take away the Spectating aspect and it’s even more brutal than it already is.
Glad you said 'movie' scene. Reality is that a physical fight usually lasts less than a minute. Sometimes if both combatants are evenly matched the fight might last a couple of minutes. Oh and there are no rules. When your opponent is down you make sure they don't get up. That's the difference between a real fight and a choreographed movie fight scene. Better to just NOT get into a fight.
I learnt two things from this movie 1) controlling outcome , which the coach repeatedly tells Jake to do 2) find your WHY, as we can clearly see Jake had a definite reason to fight for but Ryan was just fighting for glory
+Matthew Schutze bro if you know anything about ufc you'll side with Warrior. I'm not saying this isn't a bad movie. Iv watched it more than Warrior to be honest lol but the fighting in that movie is closer to actual ufc than never back down. Still got love for both
If we keeping it a stack Jake low-key lost this fight until movie magic kicked in. When Ryan was targeting the ribs that was game over. Not to mention the fact that Ryan has been training since childhood and showed zero signs of any weakness, and Jake has been training for just a few months, and it showed in every interaction they had that they were both on different levels.
The movie also shows that have had top notch determination and better techniques and breathing showing up early training and putting in work while Ryan has yes men and shit training partners plus the obvious fact that he was over confident. Ryan showed zero diversity or any triumphs and I think it as a accumulation of all of that while unlikely if you don’t train properly you can be taken out.
