- IP MAN Best Scene 2019
During filming, conflicts arose between the producers of Ip Man and filmmaker Wong Kar-wai over the film's working title. Wong, who had been developing his own Ip Man biopic, clashed with the producers after learning that their film would be titled Grandmaster Ip Man (Chinese: 一代宗師葉問), which was too similar to the title of the other film. The producers of Ip Man agreed to change the film title, despite Wong's film being in development hell. Wong's film, titled The Grandmaster, was released on 10 January 2013.
Ip Man is the first film in the Ip Man film series. It premiered in Beijing on 10 December 2008, and was released theatrically in Hong Kong on 19 December 2008, receiving widespread acclaim from critics and audiences. Before the film's release, Raymond Wong announced that there would be a sequel; a second installment titled Ip Man 2, was released in April 2010, and a third installment titled Ip Man 3 was released in 2015, with a fourth installment scheduled to be released in 2019.[3] Ip Man grossed over US$21 million worldwide, despite not being released in North America and most of Europe. Following its success, the film was nominated for 12 Hong Kong Film Awards, winning awards for Best Film and Best Action Choreography.

I was yesterday years old, when I learned that Donnie Yen is actually a MASTER in something like 9 different Arts.
It takes some people a lifetime to become a Master of even ONE!
yea man check out Flahspoint, he shows off his MMA skills
It's China. Future professionals start practicing full time starting from 6 years old.
He's master of show like Bruce Lee. If they were real fighters we would see them in professional fights.
@@ugur3527 Not necessarily. Some people don't want to be professional fighters. But that doesn't make them any less badass.
My former teacher Master Obatta wasn't a professional fighter, but when his family was attacked by a man with a knife in Los Angeles, Master Obatta dissarmed him, dropped him, bound him up, and sat on top of him until the police arrived. He was a real badass.
Military Soldiers don't fight in a ring to entertain people for money. That doesn't make them any less badass.
There are a ton of badass Martial Artists who have no interest in fighting in a ring. But you damn sure don't want to mess with them on the street.
Thinking only people who fight for money, to entertainment crowds, are badass, seems to be a pretty absurd point of view.
@@toddstudio79 yes they are lots of people who knows how to fight. But if they're going public and saying "I'm the best" they should prove it by fighting other professional fighters which is this guys didn't do.
the ip man series was just a masterpiece.

The 10 on 1 fight is still one of the greatest fighr scenes in cinema. Everything about that scene is just amazing. Such a great movie.
Jet Li’s, Fist of Legend, demolishing a dojo is up there.
yeah that and ong-bak 2's bone breaking sequence is very similiar i love both
The Japanese were so polite, waiting their turns before attacking 😂
@@CorePathway Well yeah, would have been a far less entertaining scene to have IP Man turtled up on the matt and getting stomped on by 10 dudes lol.
Half the combatants just literally stand around him, and do nothing while he pummels the same guy over and over again.
Forbidden rules that everyone knew, yet anyone ever followed:
1. Fight Jackie Chan in a room full of furniture
2. Stay still when John Wick is approaching
3. Let Ip man roll up his sleeves
3. Don't play a drinking game where you take a shot or liquor every time Donny Yen knocks someone out.
furniture is a martial arts of jackie chan
or that karate guy that brough nunchucks to fight bruce lee in ip man 4
Donnie yen just beat 4 ppl in real life bruh, he's a legend
or normal one, "I don't wanna fight you're guys" dialogs that ended up everyone getting folded into omelette

Interesting fact, Wing Chun was created by a woman and was named after Yip Wing Chun who used it to fight off men who pursued her for her beauty. Yip Man saved this martial art from being erased during Mao's Cultural Revolution and kept it alive throughout his life. Now its easily one of the most iconic martial arts of all time.

IP man vs Mike Tyson - absolutely perfect Mike Tyson Pika Boo boxing style he is famous for. Watching this after the exhibition fight of Mike at the age of 55 and this man still remembers everything Mr. Cass De Mato taught him.
Thoroughly enjoyed to watch this epic scene in IP man especially the the end when the timer goes off and BOTH stop at an impasse. Shows the absolute utmost respect of both fighters and their individual fighting style.
Side note - I'm definitely no boxer, but I have been a studen of San Soo Kung Fu which really emphasize on both Wu Shu and Win Chun for very close face to face fighting, manipulation of your opponent's movement as your advantage.
Donnie yen is a legend, but Tyson was the only fighter in that scene. Donnie will tell you the same.

That first fight against the 10 black belts was unbelievably brutal. Ip Man killed at least four of them by my estimation.
It was about revenge and the others were just him proving a point.
I think he didnt kill them, he just seriously wounded them
@@PaganMin-1966nahh he got a couple bodies in that scene 😂
Ip man is a hero. The master of Bruce Lee
Is he master of Bruce lee really?
Haha, no he is Bruce's Master
He really is he's master but he's Bruce Lee's master only in wingchun which as Bruce said is very ineffective in a real fight
Bruh get the book Ip chun it says about the history of ip man and other masters
@@Blackshard159 or just learn about it it’s simple
The mike Tyson fight was easily the best. Also, he’s probably the strongest character in the series considering he’s also old like ip man. He showed the most adaptability combined with speed and power. Ip man was never able to just counter him with 1 strategy, and was constantly on the back foot needing to switch it up because Mike would adapt too fast.
yea. they were about to deliver consecutive death blows but the bell stopped them. great way to show mike the love and respect he deserves.
Agreed.
Funnily enough, there was an interview where they both claim that they're terrified of the other. Donnie Yen was so scared of Tyson's punches actually connecting, and Tyson was surprised at how fast Yen actually is.
It’s really not..
I agree totally. A true immovable object meeting an unstoppable force.
nostalgia.
Movies of this type and in particular Yip Man 1,2,3 introduced me to the world of martial arts.

Eeascjkon
Ok
That half of a yam is sooo symbolic: Master Ip only receives what is given to him, nothing more. Doesn’t take or steal, only receives what’s earned. And he returns home to his family with only that. The bloody bag of rice from his fellow master friend that earned it during his tourney fights, was given to the master’s wife-turned widow. Honorable and humble. Powerful, yet gentle characteristics of peak human form.❤
I always thought it was a potato 🥔
The fight scenes must have taken months too perfect. I respect the men , women, and children that participate in these movies. I couldn't imagine how many times someone was accidentally hurt in the making of a film of this nature. But the end result is always phenomenal. A lot of people say that wing Chung is inefficient in a street fight ,or a mugging etc. And they are right. One artform or style will never protect you or your loved ones. Because they may be bigger or stronger or just plain out too do harm. Or worse. Combining different methods of defense will always increase your chances. Train hard ,train diligently, but most importantly, never use what you learn or are taught too use it as a way too harm others for wealth or recklessness.. it's for self defense.
I can watch online but it's only in the original language. Are there no websites for subtitles? Or dub?
they are all a mixture and change through years so to say an particular artform is ineffective is wrong
when the motion is too fast to capture, you know how much effort hey put in, but both actors at the last fight are martial artist of wing chun

It was a real pleasure to watch Mike Tyson - he still IS one of the greatest boxers manking ever had!
Honestly ip man isnt just a story about a man bieng really good at fighting its about a man who fought for his wife , kids, and to put and end to wars racism he wasnt an aggressive man he only fought wen he needed to which is why we need to respect him
👌
If you are talking about the character of this movie, yes. But if you are talking about the need to respect the real life Ip Man you have to realize that almost all of this is fiction. Nobody knows what he was doing during the war other than that he was enlisted as a police officer (which this movie doesn't even mention). He had a mistress that the movies also don't mention and the main reason he fought and taught wing chun was to support his opium addiction which is also not mentioned in the movies.
One of the best fight scenes ever made in Hollywood. The IP Man movies were so legendary especially the fight with Master Z and Mike Tyson were my favourites 💪❤️👊🔥
the scenes are NOT made in Hollywood, i think.
This is Hong Kong Movie dude.
I love the story of this great Man... I just hope all the people learned about honor and kindness as this pure soul had !
exactly that is he spirit of kung fu. as he explains throughout all 4 movies.
I only just found out Bruce Lee died only 7 months after his master. That's so tragic and the death was caused by a medicine, that's so unfortunate. I'm not being rude but IP mans teachings 50/50 went to waste, all that he trusted went into Bruce Lee only for him to died shortly after...

Since you have an insider perspective, I'm wondering: Do you find it as interesting as I do how the portrayal of boxing changed between Twister and Tyson?
Twister was a straight-up caricature of an arrogant brute, and boxing was portrayed as a kinda trash-tier style with gaping flaws to be exploited, while the Tyson fight was choreographed as a hard-style master fighting a soft-style master on equal footing.
Great Tyson and twister are two different fighters no two boxers are the same if you did not Tyson was more on the power side than technique
boxing is better ur just gay
А у меня второй разряд по стрельбе...
@@Just_A_Dude
Twister was an homage to the trope in the kung fu genre of an arrogant white fighter who proceeds to get the shit kicked out of him by the protagonist. It's usually to show the superiority of the whatever the protagonists style is, and also to sort of hail back to western abuse of China (with later examples being fairly recent with the funding of the KMT by the US in an attempt to secure a trade monopoly with China) that ends with the righteous protagonist beating down an arrogant brute, as opposed to the cultured and mild mannered Chinese fighter.
Meanwhile Tyson's character is effectively a Chinese migrant (he lives there and has a family) who has a hardened criminal past and is the "final boss" so to speak of that part of the film (it would have been anti-climactic for him to just lose easily).
Also it's a difference in character, Twister is a sort of complacent champion who has been at the top for too long, Tyson's character is someone who came up the hard way and had to remain hard to stay at the top.
It's not really about the Boxing, though Boxers tend to get smashed by Kung Fu in such film's. Which would sort of make sense when you consider traditional Chinese martial arts, which pretty much died out during the cultural revolution and as a result of the Boxer's Rebellion before that, were very much like traditional Karate and Boxing, a sort of general combative method (the various superfluous aesthetic aspects are basically just both a flourish and also a means of hiding what you are doing past the bare necessities for fighting).
Jet Lee's character in Fearless (who uses a sort of blend of Wushu with Sanda), and that film overall, sort of show what traditional Chinese styles would have looked a little like, with massive aesthetic changes and excessive movements of course (footwork and hand placement would have been the same as traditional Boxing/Karate, hands at mid level to intercept a takedown, feet not too wide apart, and footwork was linear), but that's another story.
It's also about the character themselves influencing the style. Twister is just a boxer, so he loses out when other rules are in play. Tyson's character is sort of a dirty boxer/street fighter. It's like Ip Man's fellow disciple of another Wing Chun style having a different, far more aggressive style of fighting contrasting to his character being both desperate in a way and also far more willing to hurt people.
Man that 10 v 1 was BRUTAL! like daymn.. coming back and watching that... they got FUUUKKED UP
The 10 black belts scene is the only time ip man truely let his anger get the better of him and we see that whilst hes mainly a defensive person when he goes on the offence hes an absolutely monster even against muira whilst he wasnt as angry he went mostly offence the entire fight and overwhelmed almost instantly prime ip is an absolute beast
In His last fight in part 4 he defiantly let’s go.
That's because the plot armour and choreography let him ... I mean, none of these guys fight like black belts and they all go in one by one, letting Ip finish his technique on the current guy and then telegraph a weak attack that he can easily counter.
actually the fact that ip man didnt outright break anyone's necks to kill them is surprising, he could easily do that

Ip Man is the best martial arts fighter of all time, it is said that he was undefeated, never lost a fight and was also Bruce Lee's teacher, a true legend.
The smile at at the end of the Japanese General: "At last, I found someone worthy".
The spirit of IP man is no-border: Don't be too arrogant, don't bully the disadvantaged group casually. Kung Fu guides us to fight evil forces and maintain world peace.

I still can't get over the fact that Donnie Yen is just basically giving you a really aggressive massage.
Not if you're of similar build as him. Those attacks accurately hit vital points. A good example would be his application of the wooden man practice on General Miura. Wouldn't argue that it's almost nothing more than a very heavy massage for the big bois though. As for the flurry... I have no idea what the fuck that is for. I think it's the only part of Wing Chun that makes no sense to me xD
@@Winterheart-fz8rd So what I thought was right, wing chun is used to hit the vital points but against a fat guy it's not really effective.. Then again a punch in the face still works.
@@JannieDaMannie Yeah. TBF it IS a soft Martial Art focused on keeping the other guy from being able to punch you or retaliate properly. It's really only efficient for self-defense and in the current era, there are better styles to learn from.
That being said though, I believe what Ip Man said about "Martial Arts having nothing to do with how effective you are as a fighter" applies to all who wish to practice a particular style, be it Karate that has a very rough way of absorbing attacks and throwing counters or Boxing which focuses on movement and delivering very quick, powerful and accurate punches that can KO another guy in a single clean hit.

I thought I was tired of martial arts movies until rewatching these scenes. I now realise that modern martial arts movies don't have this kind of artistry and genius. I guess I'll just have to stick to my DVD collection.
The interesting thing about watching all these clips together is that the only other style that seemed to give Ip Man any real trouble was Western Boxing. Maybe because in boxing his opponent wasn't just standing around at arms length waiting to be hit. Tyson was moving all the time even before any punches were thrown making it hard to pin him down.
Also when you are playing boxing most of the offensive part is your hands. So your legs can do the moving. But when you use both legs and hands to attack, you can't move when you are kicking them

Unfortunately due to size, most Chinese martial artists aren’t strong enough or heavy enough to deal damage to people much bigger than them.
