I love when people do what they love!
I have no idea what I'm watching, for what it is good for, what you do with it, and actually what you're doing, but it looks really really awesome.
I've never done more than saw a piece of wood. These videos are mesmerizing.
I'm in a similar boat but just bought a scroll saw and lathe that I pick up on Sunday. So stoked!
Videos like this will consume my life until then :D
I don't think i'm going to be doing this any time soon but it's a lot of fun to watch.
WTF Why is this so facinating?... I cant stop watching
Same here, almost obsession!
Why am I enjoying this?
Congratulations, a very ingenious way to decorate
This is a lot like a clay decorating technique called chattering. Very neat.
Just got my tool in the post today, and absolutely love it...Great tool...
Glad you're enjoying it :)
i have just started my carpenting school , and i love to do this kind of things! cant wait to buy my own mashine to work on my self here home! :) thanks for the tip man its wass grate !
Because we all share the desire to create beautiful and interesting things.
I'm in this part of UA-cam again ... Damm you woodtuning!
Wonderful pattern and tools. Thank you.
looks cool nice video
thank u mister for the video iam learning it and iam enjoying it.
great job there
AMAZING!
Thank You for your reply!
Very good!
Awesome
Good video.
BELLISSIMO COMPLIMENTI
impressive
god thats so cool!
The "preparation tool" Nick uses is actually the Coving Tool, part number 088-2152.
@Aharndts When you turn below center, the "spiral" pattern will change in shape and direction. It also happens when you turn above center.
Since the Elf cuts the decorative pattern, it works extremely well on hard woods.
fascinating
good
I have no idea how I got here.. I was looking at fails and Squirells getting sniped!!! It's interesting though! LOL
A better deal to hold the cutter bits just buy a cheap air die grinder and use it to hold the tool. Just don't hook up the air hose. I use it to hold flex sanding discs and other tool as long as the have1/4" shafts. Works for me!!
you forgot that the tip needs to be able to turn smoothly at high speed and without wiggle-room. Im not sure how its done, but i would assume that there will be two ball bearings and a rotating axis in the holder as well, or something equivalent.
Beautiful. How are the bits held in the handle?I have several different ball mill bits but would like to make the handle part.Nice job!
MARAVILHA ,QUERO COMPRAR UM TORNO E ESSAS FACAS E FORMÕES
Cool tool.
Does it cut the right hand side of the cove also?
Good idea! I have one of those,as well as several Harbor freight stores in the area.I was thinking of just pressing/gluing/epoxying a stack of bearings with a magnet into either a piece of copper or pvc tubing since there is hardly any pressure on the tool.
i bought this tool... i go around decorating everything i see
very cool indeed! Have you tried it on a raised band (turned on exterior of a bowl) or must it be in a cove? - Tyler
Seems a lot like "knurling" such as with knobs in metal working. Besides on end pieces, can the too be used on the exterior outer walls, at there other pattern tools that exist similar to the one you show?
how well does this work with more dense woods such as Lignum Vitae, African Blackwood, Mopane, etc.
How come the cutters blades stay in phase and the next cuts are not offset
Now what the hell am I doing here!? great video btw.
I got here from watching a french sniper airsoft video...
time to go to bed (o__ò:)
hello....Labour done well Where can I get these three blades Thanks

That's exactly the question I have as I scroll through months of comments..
how do i sharpen that thing?
Your filthy, chaffed, scaley, dirt embedded fingernails look like mine. What's worse is they never seem to get clean no matter how hard I scrub and clean.
Cool tool and superb demo
Looks like it producers a pattern on the left side of the cove can it do both sides?
if you were to hold the tool in the other direction would it give you a cris-cross effect or do you need another tool??
The bits are held in with a small magnet
How come that the last cut around hits the fist cut of the begining?
im thinking he did a base coat in white then did a very light coat in red on the lathe that did not get into the grooves it would had to have been a very thin coat though.
Where to get the optional tools used in this video?
A toothbrush worked fine for me for cleaning it up.
How to make this tool thanks?❤
also glass?
what did you use to put the color in it
They're called Tombow Markers. Her'es a link. www.woodturnerscatalog.com/p/148/4186/Tombow-Dual-Brush-Coloring-Pen
like butter
I notice most cuts are made above center, what happens if the tool is bellow center. Please don't say, I would have to purchase one to find out ;)
We're not completely sure, but it's most likely a VB-36.
Тоже попал сюда как и все? =)
Where can I buy it? How it`s call?
www.woodturnerscatalog.com/p/49/4555/Henry-Taylor-Decorating-Elf-4-Piece-Set
sorry about the question but, what machine is that?
tool looks like a carbide debur for metal working placed in a brass holder. no matter the final look is good though
erm ... how is this coloring going on?? at 5:43 I don't know how you would do such things.
интересно
Why does the pattern not overwrite itself. The dia of the tool is fixed but the dia of the piece varies. unless the pitch of the tool is in exact relationship to the dia of the piece I would expect the teeth of the tool to be in a different place on successive rotations.
Im switch to HD and nothing changes...
my sound went way better
10:45 and the end result at 11:00 can't the the same pattern, the first one was almost a spiral.
ok i started with Arnold Schwarzenegger workout videos then some random dude shaving his head and THEN some guy shaving his leg with a knife and now this ? i should be sleeping -_-
Вот одного не понял, как красным покрыл что бы в рисунок не попало?
sei tutto accallonato
I would like to purchase all 3 of these tools but I do not see the "preparation tool" in your catalog.
@texasbagpiper You may need to press a bit harder but should have a cleaner result than with softer woods.
@Aharndts Below center you will have less control of the tool and the tool may tend to bounce giving a less than satisfactory result.
Anyone else on a random trip ? "I'm going on a adventure!"
I DON'T SEE ANY ELLSWORTH TOOLS HERE!
11yt old video. Wow! I can't believe how crappy the quality was on UA-cam then. They should redo this with a digital camera instead of a filming it on a light Brite
lol XD
Nick Agar = Ni cagar jajajajaajaj
Decorate me I am awesome jk woooooo
Very interesting, but there is no sound. The text that scrolls through the images is totally absurd- has nearly nothing to de with what's going on. Very informative though. Funily enough Henry Taylor is a British firm that makes wood carving tools. Maybe just a coincidence. Thank you anyway.
What am I doing with my life...
