  • I've been debating getting a pressure pot for a long time, this video answers the question as to whether I need one or not!
    I wood turned a bowl out of Bog Oak and Pau Amerelo and put 24ct Gold Leaf in the rim

    Hi Richard. That bowl is so nice. You answered my question about pressure pots thank you. Amazing job and the gilding just sets it off. Love the contrast of the woods you used. Great explanation of how to make the channel in the rim. Thank you. Cheers 🇦🇺

      Hey John, you should see some the exotic woods and things I went and got this weekend! Along with a large blank of Tufnol (Google it) That’s gonna be an interesting turn! With a sharpening count like I did in a previous video.

      @@WoodWithD the tufnol looks like Bakelite can’t wait to see what you do with it. Looking forward to seeing the videos with the exotic wood. One question is all that you make for Customers or for you. It would be hard to part with some of them. Like the car for example. Cheers

      @@johnswettenham4560 yes, particularly the car is going be hard to part with! But I get to enjoy the pieces during the making and before they are sold 😁

    Astonishingly beautiful, Dick! My oh my, that yellow wood ( can’t pronounce it neither). It is smashing. Many thanks for sharing your technique to make the U. Still a lot of practise needed to come up without tool marks. In addition, the pressure pot question has surfaced at my side as well and yeah, whenever it comes to significant deep cracks and holes, it might become handy or a necessity. Cheers, Frank

    I've used crushed charcoal mixed with two part epoxy glue to fill larger cracks. it works great and matches well with really dark woods or spalted woods. Also coffee grinds and CA glue for smaller cracks and brown woods (or spalted).

    Another cracking video my friend, I did suggest you needed one, but that bowl is just gorgeous. How do you decide on the the rim being small or large, I believe this was the correct choice in this instance but I’m intrigued what are the factors that make your decision? I also love the way you explain how to avoid ‘catches’ not everyone explains that.👌🏻

    • @WoodWithD
      @WoodWithD  2 роки тому

      Thank you Raymond! The wood normally tells me if the rim wants to be large or small or double or slanted or different. The larger the wood the more option. On this occasion I was avoiding the crack off of the centre. It’s challenging advising on catches, this was just showing the way I do it on just the rim. Tool presentation is key to all of it! But no one is perfect and I bet even the pro pro pro’s get the occasional catch! But won’t always admit it 😜🤣🤣🤣
