Who can guess the wood??
Pop your answer below. 👍🏻
It looks like a brain or a walnut kernal but I think it's not that!
From the color and the ease with which it turns, I am going to guess olive. And since you say rare, possibly wood from the Holy Land.
I'm gonna guess Tetraclinis articulata, sometimes known as sandarac or thuja, a north African wood famous for its rare and beautiful burl en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tetraclinis
Koa wood maybe?
Wych elm maybe?
Thanks so much for not ruining it with resin. Simply lovely wood and work!
I have no idea how that didn't just shatter into a thousand fragments. Incredible work, and a gorgeous end result.
Wow! So happy there wasn’t any resin. Just the beauty of the wood and the skill of the artist
This one is really cool!! No epoxy. Just the beauty of the wood.
I think is oil from plant
not epoxy
Wow at first I thought why is he wasting his time with this piece.
Now I know, there was a beautiful piece inside waiting to get out.
Nice job.
The grain in that wood is exquisitely beautiful!! Such an amazing piece! Awesome job sir.
Это кап ,может корневой
That has to be one of the most unusual turns I have ever seen, the wood is amazingly craggy and, I love that you worked with the voided areas, and left them as part of the finished work. I have said this before, but I have no idea how you see what you are doing brother. Just watching you made my eyes go buggy. Beautiful brother, beautiful.
That piece of timber redefines the term, "gnarly"! The finished job looks incredible!
Thank you too for not drowning this in resin. Incredible job hollowing out the inside!
I agree about no resin being used. Truly beautiful with all natural. Love it
This is amazing Jack. Wonderful work.
I’m very glad you let the wood speak for itself.
Good morning Jack, that's stunningly beautiful. Hope you have a blessed and wonderful week. Love you and love to all
I don't know what the hell that wood is, but the finished product is exquisite! You are truly talented. Thanks for sharing !!
Unusual but beautiful piece. Love how the grains in the wood stands out. 👏👏🇦🇺
Visually stunning Hollow creation. I imagine a touch of light elements to bring a warm glow from within.
Brilliant job Wayne that was great
Hollowing skills to the nth degree!
What an amazing Masterpiece. Beautiful craftsmanship. Looks as if it was excavated on an archaeological dig. Remarkable piece of art. Bravo❗👏
Challenge completed . Always stunning pieces.👌Not sure why you didn’t approximately cut the protruding part off with the bandsaw first .
I agree!! That’s a lot of wasted wood that could’ve been used to make other things just to prove some point
I did cut the protruding part off.. you just don’t see that bit as it’s edited to be good to watch.
@@JackMackWoodturning Only commented because it was centred on the lathe uncut .🤔
It was.. but in the following shot it’s not there 😉…
@@JackMackWoodturning Ooo, magician too. 👍😆
I am completely stunned at how gorgeous this piece is! The wood is incredible and the finished piece is amazing! I'm so glad you didnt use resin, it is perfect just the way it is.
At first I was like, "why aren't you using resin on the piece ". Now I'm like, "sure glad you didn't use resin on the piece ". Awesome turn! Thanks, V
Mad skills, J. I was certain that when you started with the gouge pieces would be flying and plan B would ensue. But no. I bow to your gentle persuasion of this dusty lump of burl. You found its soul and set it free.
What a stunning piece. I kept expecting you to fill the voids with resin and then hollow it but no. I'm amazed it held together. I was thinking it might be olive wood but I've never seen olive wood that looks fibrous as when you chiseled off the nubbin from the bottom. The only " wood " that fibrous that I've ever seen is hemp and that is basically compressed and stabilized. I wish I had your insight. Beautiful man, just beautiful.... Keep turning, Bill Riley.
Absolutely stunning - I was nervous for you in the hollowing process - thinking just one catch would’ve blown it apart but I gotta say you gracefully did it - beautiful results and very stunning piece of art - super great job Jack
Shh!, genius at work. Cheers
There are some big holes in your vase. You are lucky it didn't fly apart in pieces. Looks great.
this may be the most beautiful bowl i've seen turned on youtube.
Thanks. I appreciate that 👍🏻
What a sublime object! Modern, yet intemporal.
Love it!
I'm also impressed by the minimal sanding, good to see finishing with the gouge 😊
Absolutely love the finished piece. I love it when the grooves , ridges and grained are retained where possible as all those dark bits also are what makes wood art beautiful. I would buy that piece if was for sale as my kind of piece. Really beautiful.😊❤
What a stunner! No idea what kind of wood, but it's beautiful.
Beautiful Jack, really unique and amazing piece of artwork.
A very beautiful piece of work, you allow the wood to speak for itself, a true piece of ART ON YOUR PART.
Wow, thank you! Are you an artist?
Now that awesome beauty can’t be done in your sleep or with your eyes closed. Masterful turning there! As others have noted, no resin makes for superior pieces
Wow. I cannot recall ever seeing another piece like it. Fantastically unique.
That is incredible. Imagine trying to carve that without a lathe. Very creative.
Amazing!
An irregular burl = a spectacular work of art!
Keep doing what you love, Jack!
Amazing turn! The grain is wonderful and the workmanship is definitely stunning! Thanks for sharing!
Simply stunning.
Really extraordinary and such gorgeous patterns in the wood. I’m so glad that you didn’t resort to resin, but I do have to admit to that I really felt it worthy of that beautiful pedestal!
Pezzo originalissimo e stravagante, unico nel suo genere !!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Astounding piece of wood. The grain is beautiful. You showcased it wonderfully!
The finished bowl is absolutely beautiful. I didn't think something so gorgeous would be the result. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Just Wow! Love everything about this piece. Well done
Love it! Fab work as always Jack!
Absolutely beautiful!
Very nice tho I was surprised you didn’t put it in a bucket of resin. Resin seems to be the “in” thing right now. It’s definitely a beautiful piece with spectacular grain! Well done. 😊
Wow Jack. I thought it was going to come apart. Glad it didn't, spectacular.
Wow! Stunning!!!
Beautiful piece!
Masterpiece, stunning work. 🤎💛🧡
And once again you showed me that I know nothing! I thought you were finally going to produce something I didn't like, but nope love this one too! ;) You do amazing work and I love watching your creativity
I can’t imagine how you take a piece of wood and decide what it will become. And THEN just when I think it looks beautiful, you take it to the next level. Absolutely amazing.
Oh my word! I wondered what you would do with this beautiful piece of truly unique wood. You made a truly unique piece of art! Thank you sir, for respecting a tree with an amazing story to tell, by making…a gorgeous piece of art from a part of it, with an equally amazing story to tell. I absolutely love this❣️😍
Hi Jack what a magnificent stunning piece of wood it has wonderful grain and nooks and crannies. The natural hollow creation is magnificent and unique It would look nice with an Led tealight in it to show the grain and holes up. Well done Jack you are very talented thank you for a great video. Amanda xx
It's like some piece of fae architecture with all those crags and voids!
i was wondering why you didnt cast it in resin but was amazed once you started hollowing it! fantastic work!
Absolutely gorgeous
What an amazing transformation from what looked like a gnarly piece of wood just beautiful
That’s really cool! Look at that grain!!!
Great job 👍🏻👍🏻
Beautiful! I am so glad you did not "spoil" it with resin. In my expert opinion (I turned it once!) resin actually distracts from the beauty of the wood. And the mess! Never again. Kind regards.
I generally prefer something solid, without all the voids. To each their own, I guess!
Resin brings a nice decor to certain pieces if done correctly.
Absolutely beautiful. I could sit and look at that, every time I would see something different. Bless. 👍🙏🏻
Pure art.
Nothing short of magnificent! When you started cutting off the base, I was thinking shape & leave it as a pedestal. But looking at the final result, I have to agree with your decision. She's a beauty!
Fantastic work.
Wow! That was a daring piece of work. Well done!
Stunning piece of art and beautiful wood grain ❤
Absolutely beautiful. I can’t believe it didn’t explode on you. I know that was a bear to turn. Nice job, well done and awesome.
My favourite piece thus far that I've seen of your work.
That's amazing! ❤
A fantastic work of art! It would look good as a rose bowl too - put a small container of water inside, arrange four or five large garden roses in the the container, with the rose heads hanging over the edge.
Exquisite! Very unique! Magnificent piece!!!
Grand-tastic ! Only 3 of us thought it might explode while turning inside .
intriguing piece...LOVE it❤
That piece looked very dangerous , but what a stunning piece . Beautiful work Jack Mack .
Stunning and very brave .
Stunning piece. You have nerves of steel and remarkable skills.
For this challenge I'd be donning the plate mail.
@@Text-Jack so, this is a joke right?
@@forbolI received the exact reply in my comment, as well as several other people as well. It's fake for sure.
lmbo! Truth!
That's incredible!👏👏👏👏
That turned our gorgeous.
WOW ! beautiful grain !
Totally amazing.
To begin with I was worried that you were going to break your wrist. You've created a beautiful sculpture that showcases the natural beauty of the medium in a wonderful way. I did for a little while think that it was going to end up being a lamp 🤔
You have a good eye for hidden beauty.
Awesome job, I’m glad it held up for you. That should bring a nice price to the right collector.
WOW!! AMAZING!! It looks a lot like Black Ash Burl.
I don’t necessarily agree with this list because it doesn’t contain snake wood but these are listed as the world’s most costly and rare woods.
Agarwood ($100,000 per Kilogram)
African Black Wood ($10,000 per Kilogram)
Sandalwood ($20,000 per Kilogram)
Bubinga ($18.99 per Foot)
Pink Ivory Wood ($8 per Foot)
Bocote ($32.99 per Board Foot)
Holly Wood ($40 per Foot)
Purple Heart Wood ($15 per Board Foot)
Amazing , great stuff.
Well Mr.Jack, I just don't know about this one. I don't know anything about wood & I sure don't have any kind of talent, but I just don't know if I like this one. You do beautiful work, its just MY own personal taste I guess. But you keep up the good work!! I'll find another one to watch now.
Beautiful design 👍👍 You have done a great work. 😍😍
That is beautiful
Amazing i was thinking it might break.Great job.
What an amazing looking piece
Holy smokes man. Great job I love turning Bowls have been for 20 years That is spectacular. Wow.
I'm glad it held together beautiful work of art thanks for sharing
Beautiful piece, thanks for not filling it full of resin. Much better when it’s pure wood.
This is AMAZING!!!! TYFS
Absolutely Amazing
Bravo: hai trasformato una massa informe in un' opera d'arte arte astratta.
