Zack Stark well Hadestown has my vote for best musical - a story that isn’t happy go-lucky but tells the story that life isn’t easy and people make mistakes leading to sad stories but it doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try. Plus it has one of best sounds to come to Broadway in a while. (An opinion not a fact - nearly every show that ends up on Broadway deserves their chance to shine RIP Groundhog Day)
I love how Orpheus is the one who is unsure of himself, while Eurydice is so sure of what she wants. He's so head over heels in love with her that he's stunned and doesn't know how he got so lucky. His reaction to her bumping into him and her kissing him at the end made me cry tbh. It's one of the many small things that really shows that this musical was created by women.
Women's perspectives make it so much better. Also, if you've seen it, in All I've Ever Known he's so hesitant to touch her before she initiates any romance and its so sweet that he waits and their chemistry absolutely sells it
