Hadestown is nominated for an Olivier Award for Best Revival! Here are 4 more shows which are on the West End until the end of the year which are in the run for the award: ua-cam.com/video/Hld8PVG7ZEg/v-deo.htmlsi=N2wCez78KOzMiAHS 🎭🏆
Glad you’re coming around to it! Seeing understudies for Hadestown is great! The whole point of this show going to see a story that we already know will end in heartbreak. It’s about hoping against hope that the world can change and be better. Economically, politically, climate wise. It might be foolish to hope the way we do but it’s also beautiful. Seeing different casts illustrates the timelessness and universality of the story. I have seen it 4 times life and listened to it countless times as well as watching bootlegs… Hadestown always has something new to say it allows its performers to bring themselves to the characters.
Thanks so much for your comment! It definitely feels that the more I listen to it and see it, the more I’m getting into it. The crowd was loving it on the night too…it’s such a special show! Truly unique!
Yes I would say that it's pretty important to go into the show with some idea of the myths because the emotional core of the show is to make you hope that it would show you the way the story could be in spite of the way that it is. so it's good to have some idea of how the myth ends
I was on row A on the grand circle and the seats were pretty terrible. Everyone sat on that row was at the edge of their seat and leant on the balcony (worth the back ache in the end, incredible show)
I totally agree! I was so surprised by that…I know that seats in some theatres are pretty but this was really uncomfortable. Worth it tho! I’d love to go back to see it again. ☺️
I very much disagree. The understudy for eurydice was AMAZING and i thought they had really good chemistry. I loved her voice so much i actually thought she shouldve been cast as the lead having heard the lead in previews.
That’s so interesting! I had no reference as haven’t seen the show before or listened to the soundtrack…will defo go see it again. I agree with you that she was good and she has great voice but didn’t feel convinced about them being in love with each other.
@@KristinaEmilyOfficial I saw the understudy for Eurydice as well and I also felt that the one thing missing from the show was chemistry between Orpheus and Eurydice. They're both amazing singers but, yeah, I agree that the chemistry was a bit off.
@@phoebehibbert3110 ahh glad to hear I’m not the only one…felt critical for saying it but it just didn’t do it for me. But hoping next time I go see it, it will be a good thing to compare two performances with a slightly different cast. 😊
i agree with you - i thought madeline was absolutely amazing as eurydice!
@@phoebehibbert3110may I ask who you saw? I saw Madeline and really wasn't happy so I am wondering if you share this
Is the soundtrack on UA-cam
I've listened it on Spotify but looks like there is this playlist on UA-cam: ua-cam.com/video/ZgsfT2w7FfM/v-deo.html&ab_channel=Andr%C3%A9DeShields-Topic
