  • LOWELL THOMAS, CBS RADIO NEWS, FEB. 3, 1976
I greatly admired legendary broadcaster Lowell Thomas (1892-1981) and had frequent contact with him in the final years of his remarkable career. In the 1970s I recorded a number of his “Lowell Thomas Brings The News” 7 p.m. radio newscasts over CBS Radio. Check out my UA-cam Channel and Playlists section for the many Lowell Thomas newscasts I’ve already uploaded.
This newscast, which I recorded on Feb. 3, 1976, reports that incumbent President Gerald R. Ford said “he does not believe in abortion on demand therefore disagrees with the recent Supreme Court decision liberalizing abortion.” Senator Barry Goldwater asserts that President Kennedy was closely involved in CIA plots to kill Fidel Castro. German media has released the names of alleged Soviet and U.S. spies and agents. Six men in the Soviet Union were found guilty of collaborating with the Nazis during World War II. San Francisco Catholic churches praying for an end to California’s drought. A Pennsylvania doctor’s office had nothing to steal.
