Sad to hear that Lynn Hamilton is dealing with dementia. This is why these videos are so important - keeping an oral history of people sharing their own stories while they are with us. Thank you for another great segment!
Hal is an absolute legend. How wonderful to see him looking and sounding as young as ever. A real pioneer in the industry and he deserves so much respect and praise. Hope to see him in more roles for years to come.
Hi Shyman, your comments are always on the mark.🤩 Hal Williams is iconic ⭐ I had forgotten how many roles he played. I also remember him fondly and comically on 227- which always cracked me up. and The Waltons usually made me cry.
It's so good to see Hal Williams (Harley Foster) once again. His character along with Lynn Hamilton as Verdi Grant Foster were two of my favorite recurring characters on "The Waltons".
My favorite episode Mr Williams was in was when Verdi found the medallion which belonged to one of her ancestors who was a slave. I like the episode because everyones acting was top notch and the storyline was compelling. I'm still happy Verdi found the important answer she was looking for.
I recently had the opportunity to meet Hal. The first order of business for me was to compliment him on his work on The Waltons. He was so gracious and appeared to be happy I asked him about the show. I sensed he was very proud of his work on The Waltons. Such a nice man. I'm happy you had the opportunity to have him on your show.
It's so good to see Hal. His episode on the Waltons, it was one of my favorites. What a wonderful man. I'm so sad to hear about Lynn, a fabulous actress, she was such a great addition to the show. Thanks, Judy, for bringing him on.
I've seen Hal Williams in many films and television shows especially on the Walton's, Sanford and Son and Private Benjamin both the film and tv series, among others Thank You for your interview with Hal and have a great Thursday Judy.🇺🇲📺🇺🇲
Judy, thank you so much for taking the time to track down the actors and actresses that made the Waltons such a fabulous show. It's so good to catch up on their lives now.
Oh thank you Judy for another walk down memory lane..... He's such a great actor in every show he was cast in . Thank you so much Judy and may God bless you and your family.
@Judy Norton you may find this difficult to believe, but I have never seen The Waltons. I am 63 years old and I never got to watch the Waltons growing up because I had to go to church every Thursday night. Every. Thursday. Night. For decades! It is only now that I am retired, and at home during the day that I have begun watching this gem of a TV program on the Hallmark Family channel. For a couple of hours each afternoon, you and your “brothers and sisters” provide me peace and respite from this weary world. Thank you for this gift! P.S. I found a new church, too!
I look at Hal Williams, and I realize how long it's been since I saw the show during its first run. All the stars on The Walton's bring back dear, treasured childhood memories. Most of the shows we loved. But some hit too close to home. Like the death and stroke of Grandpa and Grandma. Those were sad episodes for our family. We hated seeing them, but on DVDs, we watched them. They brought back memories of our Grandpa and Grandma. I know I can't, but I thank Earl Hamner, Jr. from the bottom of my heart for a show that evokes childhood memories and memories of our beloved, dear family. We watched The Walton's faithfully during its first run. I was 3 years old during the first season. I'm 55 now. You don't know how I treasure each minute of watching these reunion and memory online shows. Thank you. It's two simple words, and they don't express my gratitude, but you get the idea.
There isn't one episode when I wasn't moved. Almost every episode is relatable and relevant no matter where you are. It's amazing how much weight those two simple words carry, Mark. And I know so many of us feel the same. I do. Thank you, Judy. 🥲
I always enjoyed Hal's character, Harley Foster, on the show. He portrayed such a kind and dependable friend. I wish that he appeared in more episodes.
Nice to meet you Hal Williams. You are another part of the epic Walton's experience now getting your recognition thanks to Judy. These visits or fireside chats with friends and guests stars as I call , them are a exciting piece to the story weather its directly concerning the Waltons or other aspects of their careers and time in Hollywood. Their response is no I'v never heard of it. My answer to that is, if you like the Hallmark channel you'll love the Waltons. Iv been with you since the Homecoming, and then reconnecting again during COVID watching the daily broadcast on MeTV. Judy, you’ve brought so much joy to me with these shows. I had 2 toddlers when Waltons premiered. My all time favorite show! My husband and I had the pleasure of visiting Skylar!❤❤
How very pleasurable to see Mr. Hal Williams again. He looks great, sounds great and is my mom’s age. He’s correct about how the industry has changed so much. I appreciate what he and so many others have gone through to make it easier for the next several generations. Mary
How great to see Mr. Williams. What a talent. I'd forgotten about him on "Harry O." Enjoyed him on Sanford and on 227 in addition to his work as Harley. Sorry to hear of Ms. Hamilton's illness and will keep her and her granddaughter in my thoughts. Looking forward to part 2 of your conversation (AND to his upcoming appearance on the new Matlock). So glad you were able to pull this off.
Thank you, Judy and Hal!! Wonderful interview, and I love history of all kinds, and this IS history. I always loved it when he was in the episodes with Lynn Hamilton. Years ago, in downtown Philly, a guy was giving out one dollar bills if you could quickly and correctly identify the theme song of tv shows. I won a buck that day at lunch for screaming out '227'!
Thanks Judy, Another great interview with Hal Williams, looking forward to hearing more from him. Hal was a superb actor any show that casted him on their program added class. He could be funny and he could be serious when the script call for it. As always take care, stay safe and God Bless.
Dear Judy, It's great to see you and Hal Williams. I think my favorite episode to feature Verdie and Harley would be "The Family Tree" from 1978. It provides a good chance to look at life through the lenses provided by Verdie and Harley. That episode really shows their strength when they have to endure things no one should have to face.
What a FABULOUS interview. Please thank Hal Williams. Looking forward to p 2. A bit of sadness to hear him say, and you agree, to how much the industry has changed but that applies to so many other aspects of life. I'm showing my age! 😂 I'm so grateful to have experienced The Waltons when it first came out and grateful for the reruns. I was sad to hear of Lynn's (Verdi's) health issues. God Bless her and Hal and you too Judy. I'm so grateful for your efforts. ❤😂🎉
Glad we all got to grow up together during such a great era in television. Each generation has things that contribute to society - but I guess we tend to be partial to many things we enjoyed along the way :)
OH MY GOODNESS!! I’ve been waiting for this! When watching Sanford & Son, I never put it together they were on the Waltons too! They were such good actors that they had me focused on the characters they were portraying. My prayers for Ms. Lynn that her health gets better.🙏🏽 Thank you for this Ms. Judy!👏🏽
This channel is such a gift to the fans of the show! Hearing Hal mention Ralph Senensky and his role in Hal being cast is just one delightful example of how you are bringing us all into the true Walton's behind the scenes experience. I look forward to part 2 of your conversation and more of your special guests. Once again Judy, thank you for your effort and creativity that is poured into this wonderful channel! As an original and continuing fan of the show I wanted reach out to let you know just how much you are appreciated.
Hal and Lynn were so very important to The Walton's. Love them ❤️ His acting is top notch and makes each character he plays come to life. Just a amazing actor. So good to see him .Thank you Judy for letting us hear from Hal. Hal you are loved by so many fans.🥰
Hi Froggie! It is wonderful to see you Froggie. 🐸😁💚I hope you and the family are all enjoying summer 🏖 Yes, I agree, a fabulous Interview with Hal Williams! Reflecting on his career and on his and Lynn Hamilton's most loved characters on The Waltons. This show always makes me a bit teary and then we get to see the actual amazing people behind the performances/scenes (Thanks Judy!).
Lisa Lisa, family is ok here, hope yours is well too. So are you anxiously awaiting Jon’s freshman year? I was glad you responded to my post. Summer, well……..it sure beats winter. Hope you’re feeling well. Great to hear from you. 🐸
@@froggy821 Dearest Froggie! 🐸❤💚 I agree, Even tho Summer is warming globally, I still prefer it over blizzards/Winters. I get melancholic as soon as August ends. And it will be almost a YEAR since Judy first mentioned the Festival in Kentucky last Fall 2023. That's when we met Froggie! Fond moments for sure ❤ We finally completed the FAFSA forms but Jon will not attend until the winter/spring semester. Froggie, parenting seems harder as your children grow into adulthood? You're such a young hands-on Grandmother moreover, you and Mr. Froggie have raised 2 wonderful responsible daughters. Parenting is still very daunting to me through each phase of our children's lives. I thought it would get easier as they grew up instead it feels harder Froggie. I can't imagine being Earl Hamner's Mom or Olivia Walton. I'm not tough like them, and Grandma Esther! They have 7x the worry. That's one big reason I watch The Waltons, I have stolen some of their teaching moments (lines) and used them on Jon! 🤩😁 Froggie, it is always so good to see a glimpse or more of you here. ❤💚
Lisa Lisa, what I’ve found with parenting is that it’s all just trade offs. When they’re infants you give them a bottle, then you trade off the time consumption of bottle feeding for the mess of food in a high chair. Then the trade off of carrying them till they walk but then they fall and cry all the time. So in my head its all trade offs. Even now with grandchildren. My relationship with my children is still just a bunch of trade offs. When one hard chapter closes and you think it’s all going to be easier…….nope, another hard chapter opens. All you can do is hope you find your footing before it hurts too much. Find the good in the moment. Like watching Judy, the Waltons and talking to Walton friends,(like you) it’s a bonus to life. I wish they would have a get together somewhere in between and us possibly both be able to get there so we could meet. 🐸
@@froggy821 Dear Froggie 🐸❤ I really appreciate your experience/insight. The whole process is still daunting. It's the worrying, that never ends. 😧 and the tradeoffs as you mentioned, are endless too! The Waltons have honestly helped me cope as you noted because the era might be different, but the concern and Love are the same. You've raised children and helped to raise grandchildren. Froggie, that's like a whole new world for me to think about- if Father time allows. I'm just keeping my faith that Jon will start and complete college. 😁😁 Froggie💚❤ If I ever get a chance to meet you😍 and Judy and some cool folks here, I would probably be beaming with Joy and tears! I'm quite sentimental. 🥲🥲
Loved this segment with Hal, I look forward to part 2! Harley and Verde were such wonderful characters on the Walton's, I am glad to hear that Hal was able to give input in the writing of their episodes. That's why the shows were so good 🙂
What a blessing to get to see Hal Williams. So many of the wonderful actors from your show have passed on. It's funny that he was on so many shows that were airing at the same time, but his characters were so different - I never focused on it being the same actor...of course I was a kid. I loved Sanford and Son, but who didn't love Redd Foxx. He is a legend! Thank you Judy for getting so many of these wonderful actors on for us to see and honor.
What a delightful conversation with Hal Williams Judy! Always enjoyed the characters of Harley Foster and Verdie Grant Foster. The roots has always been one of my favorite episodes. Mr. Williams certainly has enjoyed a stellar career in film and television. Thanks for another wonderful segment Judy!
Thank you! Loved this interview. Thank you, Judy for continuing to bring us behind the scenes. Thank you, Hal for sharing your experiences w us. I have watched you on TV my whole life. Sad, that Lynne is having a hard time. God bless you & looking forward to part 2.
So fun that it was Mr. Senensky was a connection for Mr. WIlliams on The Waltons. Sad to hear Ms. Hamilton is unwell. Getting old is not for the faint. Bless them both, such fabulous actors, not given enough work, in my opinion. I recall them in my youth.
Judy, you may remember Hal was sitting next to you in Virginia in 1997, when I told him that I remembered "when he got in the greens" on "Sanford & Son". He said: "You did have to bring that up!" He and the other policeman were eating a salad which may have been laced with marijuana. He was also there in 1993, when I saw you and Eric Scott at the Vicki Lawrence talk show. Then I saw Hal again at the 40th anniversary with Lynn Hamilton and Marla Gibbs (his wife on "227").
Mr. Williams sounds exactly the way he did on “227”. Glad that he’s still working. I get where he’s coming from too. The respect for the art and craft isn’t there anymore and that’s very sad. I’m not a fan of “The Waltons” but I clicked this cuz i like him and wanted to see this interview. I’ll be definitely checking out that episode with Mr. Williams
Wow what an amazeing man Hal Williams is. He explained how it was back then when he was on the Walton's and filming 2 other shows at the same time. What a wonderful actor he is. I truly loved him and Verdie together . Hal tells it is like it is and was then. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ I admire him for his respect. ❤
Hal is such a wonderful man he played his character so well that he became harley . please tell him I just adored him with his character and that he made a great dad to todd Bridges aka josh forster.💗
Thank you so much for this great interview with Hal Williams. I’m sorry to hear that Lynn is not doing well. Josh Foster was played by 3 different actors on The Waltons. Todd Bridges was in 2 episodes, The Stray and The Illusion, and I don’t believe Hal Williams appeared in either of those episodes, so they were likely never together on The Waltons. Anyway, I enjoyed this video and I’m looking forward to part 2.
I only know Hal as Harley on the Waltons, and must say that Verdie and Harley were such an integral and special part of The Waltons. Looked forward to seeing them when they were on the show! 👍🏻🙏🏻
Loved this, I feel this man is a legend. I have seen him in so many TV shows and he is an amazing actor in so many different roles. I loved him in The Waltons as Harley. He is so talented in all his roles. So glad he is doing well. He is so correct in saying TV shows have changed so much and most not for the good.
Thank you Judy for bringing in Harley and letting us enjoy his career I always appreciated that on Walton’s mountain that there was no segregation no one treated Harley and Verdi’s family. Then the war at Pearl Harbor happened And I think Verdis daughter came home and reminded us that everything was segregated The other time that we were reminded us about segregated That’s when John and Harley went to see the president to clear Harleys name. When they walked into that restaurant that’s when we were reminded that everything was segregated. I just loved that Walton’s mountain accepted Harley and Verdi I can’t remember a time they were treated differently thank you Judy I just enjoy listening to their stories. Prayers going to the lady who played Verdi I hope the lord will take her soon so she will no longer suffer any more 😢😢
So nice to see & hear from Hal Williams. A delightful man & very versatile & accomplished actor. I always enjoyed every role I've seen him in. Nice that he stays in touch with his friend and former neighbor, Lynn Hamilton. Thank you for sharing! Looking forward to part 2.
Enjoy the interview with Hal Williams and can't wait the interview with Lynn Hamilton I always enjoyed how Williams when he played officer smitty on Sanford and son and many other shows also enjoyed him playing Harley on the Waltons. Thank you, Judy 😊
Judy, this is just tremendous! Mr Williams, thank you for your story about Earl Hammer asking you for story issues! I can just see that! I appreciate your kind words about Lynn Hamilton too. I'm sorry to hear her health is not good. I've mentioned before here I admire her way of speaking. I had the chance to meet Ms Hamilton at Walton's Mountain Museum and she is a very lovely and gracious person! I loved your storylines on The Walton's. I'm just a little younger than you, but you are so right about the generation gap among some today! Thank you so much for taking the time to chat with Judy and us fans! The apple picking episode is one of my top ten favorites and The Best Christmas is one of my top five favorites! That frozen pond water rescue scene looked so very real I worried everyone would have frostbite !! I admired your work in Roots also. I don't think I recognized you and Lynn Hamilton in Sanford and Son since the characters and costumes were contemporary. You have a lot of fans out here, not only in the U S but abroad as well! Thank you, again, Judy for sharing more of the goodness of The Walton's and all who created such wonderful stories! Bless Walton's everywhere!❤
What a great interview!!! His voice didn’t change. His words were very revealing of how times have changed. He mentions dear Ralph the director and Earl. His character on the Waltons was excellent. Here in Chicago A Christmas Carol production casts talent and actors without color or ethnic background a factor. Talent!!!!! Thanks Judy
Wow, he's not afraid to express himself! That's good. He's honest, & to the point! That's good too. He also has a wonderful sense of humor Judy . I bet he wishes he could do it all again! He's interesting, he's sweet. Honestly I don't remember him on the Waltons, only on Sanford & Son, he was a gas. The love of God shines out in him. He is amazing such a good memory too. Interesting man, fun to listen to all his stories. God Bless you both ..
I watch “The Walton’s” each weekday on MeTV. I still enjoy it. My late Mom grew up during the Great Depression and was a young woman during WWII, she enjoyed watching with me and spoke of how true to life it was. You have such interesting guests. Thank you , Hal for your long commitment to excellence in your career.
Hal Williams defines the term "likable actor." He always is an asset to the acting industry, was a welcome presence on anything he appeared in. Love ya, Harley !!!
Sad to hear that Lynn Hamilton is dealing with dementia. This is why these videos are so important - keeping an oral history of people sharing their own stories while they are with us.
Thank you for another great segment!
Thank you for letting these older actors speak while they are still with us.
My pleasure. I love that they are willing to come join me for a conversation.
Hal was such a versatile actor. He went from the drama of the Waltons to the comedy of Sanford and Son. Same with Lynn Hamilton. Great interview Judy.
Such a versatile actor. He deserves the long career he is enjoying.

It's so good to see Hal Williams (Harley Foster) once again. His character along with Lynn Hamilton as Verdi Grant Foster were two of my favorite recurring characters on "The Waltons".
Mine too!

The dad on 227
He was Officer Smitty on Sanford and Son.
He translated the white cop for Fred and Lamont. Hilarious!

Hal Williams is relatable and so authentic. I really enjoyed his honesty in relating his stories about his time with The Waltons.

Lynn that her health gets better.🙏🏽
Thank you for this Ms. Judy!👏🏽
Goes to show good actors can make any character believable :-)
Oh! Another reason to watch the new Matlock show. Thanks for this wonderful video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you so much. That means a lot to me.
Love this interview ❤ Or conversation as it is.
Happy to hear that. Thanks for watching.
Outstanding interview Judy . Left me wanting to see part two right away. Bravo
Happy to hear that. Thank you.
Hal and Lynn were so very important to The Walton's. Love them ❤️ His acting is top notch and makes each character he plays come to life. Just a amazing actor. So good to see him .Thank you Judy for letting us hear from Hal. Hal you are loved by so many fans.🥰
Thank you so much for joining us. So great to have him as a guest.
Hi Judy and Hal William's.I always loved Hal Williams charater.Excellant actor.
So glad - he’s terrific.
Thank-you
For
Walton 👍 Show Judy 🌹🌹🌹🌹
Fabulous interview! Thank Mr. Williams
Hi Froggie! It is wonderful to see you Froggie. 🐸😁💚I hope you and the family are all enjoying summer 🏖
Yes, I agree, a fabulous Interview with Hal Williams!
Fond moments for sure ❤
We finally completed the FAFSA forms but Jon will not attend until the winter/spring semester.
Froggie💚❤ If I ever get a chance to meet you😍 and Judy and some cool folks here, I would probably be beaming with Joy and tears! I'm quite sentimental. 🥲🥲
Loved this segment with Hal, I look forward to part 2! Harley and Verde were such wonderful characters on the Walton's, I am glad to hear that Hal was able to give input in the writing of their episodes. That's why the shows were so good 🙂
I agree. I loved that Earl asked for his input to create storylines that were honest and authentic.
Hi Judy, fantastic interview Hal Williams. What an all-round talent. Have a nice weekend.
Thank you so much.
It was such a treat to get to spend this time with Hal catching up.
Our pleasure. Thanks for joining us for this visit.
I always love hearing from and seeing previous Waltons cast members! I know it involves a lot of time and work and I am very grateful to you for that!
Thank you - I appreciate you joining us.
Thank you! Loved this interview. Thank you, Judy for continuing to bring us behind the scenes. Thank you, Hal for sharing your experiences w us. I have watched you on TV my whole life. Sad, that Lynne is having a hard time. God bless you & looking forward to part 2.
Our pleasure!
@JudyNortan great seeing Hal what a great actor and very insightful
Thanks for joining us.
Hal Williams has always been " One Fine Looking Man " ❤🤗
Indeed. 🥰
What a pleasure to hear this interview with Hal Williams. Thank you, Judy.
Our pleasure. Thanks for joining us.
I just watched the first one he was in.
Wonderful!
Hi Judy you tube channel Love my favorite one fan 💖 The Waltons Love my favorite one fan BIG 💖💖💖💖🎶🎶
Thank you!
So glad they were a part of our show.
@@judynorton2598 Absolutely!
I am glad that Hal is still wt us, what a great man!
Such a special friend and great actor.
So glad you had a chance to meet him.
Williams
Thank you. He was terrific on The Waltons.
Thankyou for sharing.
My pleasure!
Great interview with Hal, Judy
Thanks for joining us!
So glad you enjoyed this and also Hal’s work.
Hal is such a wonderful man he played his character so well that he became harley . please tell him I just adored him with his character and that he made a great dad to todd Bridges aka josh forster.💗
What a fun episode to watch, Judy. I love these conversations! Great work!
Our pleasure.
Thanks for reminding me of that. I forgot that Hal wasn’t actually in the episodes Todd was in. Funny how that happens.
I only know Hal as Harley on the Waltons, and must say that Verdie and Harley were such an integral and special part of The Waltons. Looked forward to seeing them when they were on the show! 👍🏻🙏🏻
What an absolute treat to see Hal on your UA-cam channel Judy! Thank you again for another wonderful interview with Hal.
Our pleasure. Thanks for watching.
So happy you were able to Hal on your show! He's one of the great ones
Thanks for joining us. Yes - sad Lynn isn’t doing well.
This is so cool. 😎
Thanks for joining us.
So wonderful to see Hal. Such an amazing actor.
Indeed. Hal is very special - as an actor and as a person.
I am so happy to hear about the various projects that continue to keep him busy.
Prayers going to the lady who played Verdi I hope the lord will take her soon so she will no longer suffer any more 😢😢
I’m so glad you appreciated the great storylines Hal and Lynn (Verdie & Harley) had on The Waltons.
Glad you enjoyed it
Enjoy the interview with Hal Williams and can't wait the interview with Lynn Hamilton I always enjoyed how Williams when he played officer smitty on Sanford and son and many other shows also enjoyed him playing Harley on the Waltons. Thank you, Judy 😊
Thanks for joining us.
When I saw Hal Willliams and Lynn Hamilton perform together on 'The Waltons', I saw the essence of Spencer Tracy and Katherine Hepburn.
Very cool. Love that comparison.
God Bless him. He's a wonderful man and actor. Glad he is doing well.
Totally agree!! Thanks for joining us.
Thanks for joining us for this chat. Such a treat for me to have Hal as a guest.
What a great interview!!! His voice didn’t change. His words were very revealing of how times have changed. He mentions dear Ralph the director and Earl. His character on the Waltons was excellent.
Here in Chicago A Christmas Carol production casts talent and actors without color or ethnic background a factor. Talent!!!!!
Thanks Judy
How wonderful. As it should be.
Glad you enjoyed our chat.
@@judynorton2598 your welcome!
Question: John Boy on UA-cam it shows he lost his 🦵 leg, is this true?
I watch “The Walton’s” each weekday on MeTV. I still enjoy it. My late Mom grew up during the Great Depression and was a young woman during WWII, she enjoyed watching with me and spoke of how true to life it was. You have such interesting guests. Thank you , Hal for your long commitment to excellence in your career.
Thanks for joining us.
Very enjoyable. Ty.
Our pleasure!
What a wonderful treat to catch up with Mr. Williams! Thank you for this interview.
Our pleasure. Thanks for watching.
He’s one of the best. I didn’t know he was still living. I remember him on the Walton’s, Sanford and son, and other tv shows
So great to get to catch up with him. Thanks for watching.
Hal Williams is such a talented actor, i was thrilled to see him as a guest ! Judy thank you for this delightful part 1 segment, great conversation!❤❤
Our pleasure. Thanks for watching.
Hal Williams defines the term "likable actor." He always is an asset to the acting industry, was a welcome presence on anything he appeared in.
Love ya, Harley !!!
So true!
