I did a lot research on the Bangles, luckily, they were in the MTV generation so there is a large number of videos and info on them. That is my way to re live the 1980s and learn about the Bangles and their music.
Love it that they played live. Many times on television, singers and bands are told to lip sync. Although "Hazy Shade of Winter" originally is a four part harmony, you can hear the lack of Michael Steele's deep sultry voice standing out as an antithesis to Susanna's higher and sweeter tone, with the Peterson sisters voices in between. We miss Michael terribly.
In my opinion, one of the most talented bands of the 20th century. Mind you, it's all about where you were and who you were with at the time, so, now that I think about it, I may be overstating things.
Why does that even have to be said? Society and men in particular always focus on woman's age, no one does the same to male groups. I hate the societal.double standard
..and Prince wrote, "Manic Monday," Willie Nelson wrote "Crazy." There is more to song than who wrote it. There is who immortalized it. Paul Simon is.the genius behind this and many songs. Two hundred years from now, hopefully some of our hit music will thrill people, after all of us are dust.
This video was posted in 2019 when Susanna was 60...but it was actually a performance from 2011 (according to the title) when she was 52. But even today, 10 years later at age 62, she still looks absolutely amazing and pretty much the same.
That is not true. It was made will known, by the band themselves and others that it is Paul Simon's song when this cover first came out in the 80s. Susanna performed it solo at the Grammys tribute to Paul Simon that aired last week.
Love the bangles love HSOW but I HATE HATE HATE that Debbi always does that at the end. I know S&G did it on the original but I find it kind of messes up the intense of the ending. Also, Vicki's guitar does NOT sound good doing the riff. It's weak and tinny. Idk if she just needs distortion or if she should use a different guitar altogether but their version is FIERCE and they do it so well live, but the her guitar just doesn't have the sound.
She used a Carvin back in the day, all maple and imitation DiMarzio pickups, thinner sounding than this. Producers probably forced her to use a real guitar in the studio.
DIVINA........ HOFFS !!!!!!!!!
TAKE ME BACK TO THE 80'S AND LEAVE ME THERE

I love The Bangles and love hearing them play this song!!!
Bangles forever...
I saw Susanna Hoffs perform solo at the Westlake Mall in Seattle. It was a free benefit in the '90s and she knocked it out of the park.
Nice to see this recommendation from Derrick Anderson's channel. Enjoyable solo stuff from the Bangles' bassman too. RIP Kim Shattuck.
They were sooooo talented !!
And beautiful
Love the Bangles and this cover. I tend to like their more rock tunes (and their very early sixties-sounding tunes).
Everything I wanted....does it for me.... brilliant!!!
Wonderful from Texas
Love it!
The Bangles is the best baby !!!
SIEMPRE SERÁN LAS MEJORES!!🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩😍😍😍😍😍

Thanks for posting, Derrick.

Can we give credit to Paul Simon for this masterpiece?
absolutely ...few know that originally Simion & Garfunkel rocked this out..

She did give credit, live on stage. It's on one of these UA-cam vids of hers.
She has always credited him and professed her love for him writing this song.
Of course. Can we also give credit to them for making a better version?
Girls forgot to tell him that there was going to be a live acoustic for my favorite Michael 😆 you are missed a lot
Suz is Queen of the LBD.
But why no side looks in this vid.?
This is an old Simon & Garfunkel song if memory serves.
Cool 😎
Debbie is 64 here. and Susanna is 60.

Maybe the ladies take Dr. Wong's supplements plus Ageless multi-Collagen.
If they could do a Metally cover of the Ace of Base smash
"All That She Wants" . . .
