Time, time, time
See what's become of me
While I looked around for my possibilities
I was so hard to please
Look around
Leaves are brown
And the sky is a hazy shade of winter

"LESS THAN ZERO" BROUGHT ME HERE, ROBERT DOWNEY JR KILLED IT IN THAT FILM, AS DID THE BANGLES WITH THIS AMAZING COVER!
Thank you! 👏👏👏
That guitar riff though
And the rockin' percussion.
Just one more like then it's 69 :)))
Ok now, nobody like it so it stays like that , at 69 :D
One of Kurt Cobain’s favourite songs.

One of the VERY rare occasions where I love the original, but like the cover even more.
Other way round, for me.
who did the cover?
@bwren2802 Bangles version is the cover, the original was a Simon & Garfunkel song from the 60's.
It’s miles better. Packs way more punch.
These girls had real talent. I saw them in Spokane, Washington... one of the last concerts in the old Coliseum... they stated we were their largest audience count to date.
The Bangles killed it, this song never gets old. Love it!!
What a great song and love the drums.
GREAT COVER VERSION OF THE CLASSIC SONG BY SIMON AND GARFUNKEL
I agree !
The Bangles own this song now,
in terms of performance.
Paul Simon still gets the royalties.
I agree this falls into the rare category of the cover being a better approach. Like the Hendrix version of "All along the Watchtower"
@@grjk5044 and Whitney Houston's cover of I Will Always Love You
@@mrglobul12 No. Just, no. The one good thing that cover did is earn Dolly a shit-ton more royalties.
One of the best songs they ever came up with love it❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This was in "Less Than Zero" long before "Stranger Things". Such a fantastic song!
Exactly....these youngsters have no idea about music.
Wow, you must feel so superior for something nobody has control over. When they were born.
You may be old, but not classy enough for mature
@@e.n.akasha9516 you hit the nail on the head!
So? Stranger things has been one of the things that brings a lot of this music back around.
what's up with you people being so obsessed with "when did you hear it!" This song is good no matter the year, stop acting like children.
bangles brought me here
Lol me to
Dang, this rocks!
And this is a cover. The original is the best!
Susanna Hoffs, she has a voice of an angel...her emotions are the most intense too....oh I forgot strikingly attractive also.
I never saw Stranger Things or Umbrella Academy. I remember getting drunk and headbanging to this song at a bar in the 80s. After that, I went and bought the Less Than Zero soundtrack for this one song. I never saw that movie either. One of my all-time favourite songs.
Less than Zero is a great movie starring Robert Downey Jr.. You should check it out.
I don’t care if you found this song through Stranger Things or have been a fan for decades; we can all agree that this song is one of their best🌟
Ok, I didn't find this song through Stranger things, but I literally thought the same thing, so when I forgot what song this was called- I went to youtube for Stranger Things playlist lmao 😭
This cover you mean
Too right
Hazy shade of winter sounds in Stranger Things? When?
Well, one of "their" best covers... Vocally an added value for sure, but the neurotic instrumental part is open for discussion
I actually had the soundtrack to Less Than Zero on cassette SOLELY for this song!!
Still have the 45.
@@billhiggins2003
Hang on to that!
The entire soundtrack is awesome! In a gadda da vida by Slayer is pretty cool too
Same here
Yes! Trying to forward and find the song on the cassette what
I grew up a huge Simon And Garfunkel fan, but this is a song that the Bangles flat-out OWN.
My old ass brought me here to listen to their awesome harms again. Also, the production on this song is off the hook!
That snare drum had to need a new head after Debbi was finished with that relentless pounding. This song is about 1000x more powerful than the original version. Love the Bangles.
When they did it live they included the rest of the lyrics during the bridge.
Exactly. The Bangles took the anger already present in the song, and just blew it through the goddamn roof.
But they didn't write it. Great job on Simon's great song!
Rhymin Paul simon wrote this song but I agree this is the better version
Paper Girls!! :D
Same jsjs,
R.I.P. Julian ............🤯
I'm here for the fucking bangles.
RIP Barb
kkkkk
Oof
Who is Barb..she isn't a member of the Bangles.
@@peterlipman8211 that song sounds in Barb's death (stranger things)
And still not in Series 3 - justice4barb Series 4
1987 brought me here.
I first heard this going across the Bay Bridge in San Francisco in my friends 55 thunderbird with the top off. Turned up the volume, it was great!!!! Great Cover.
Let’s all appreciate Paul Simon for writing this masterpiece!
First heard this around 87-88 in the film "less than zero", stunning cover.
I haven't listened to this song in years, I forgot how much I love it!
The 80’s had some serious tunes, they are all bangers. There is the 1966 version which is ok, and then the bangles kill it.
Do love their version of Hazy Shade Of Winter
Brilliant cover. Wished they had sung all the verses though.
Like it better than the original. My fave Bangles tune.
Time, time, time
See what's become of me...
Time, time, time
See what's become of me
While I looked around
For my possibilities
I was so hard to please
Look around
Leaves are brown
And the sky
Is a Hazy Shade of Winter
Hear the Salvation Army Band
Down by the riverside
It's bound to be a better ride
Than what you've got planned
Carry a cup in your hand
Look around
Leaves are brown
And the sky
Is a Hazy Shade of Winter
Hang onto your hopes my friend
That's an easy thing to say
But if your hopes should pass away
Simply pretend
That you can build them again
Look around
Grass is high
Fields are ripe
It's the springtime of my life
Seasons change with their scenery
Weaving time in a tapestry
Won't you stop and remember me
Look around
Leaves are brown
And the sky
Is a Hazy Shade of Winter
Look around
Leaves are brown
There's a patch of snow on the ground
Look around

Hey PBS two years back used This Version of Whiter Shade performed by the Bangles as a promotion for upcoming programs that would be Aired that year.
So now, when I hear this song on the radio, I also hear the words from the promo by PBS Shirley Chisom's uplifting speech when she ran for President of The United States.
Such a great cover
Less Than Zero Soundtrack. Nostalgia.
HERE FOR THE BRILLIANT PERFORMANCE OF ROBERT DOWNEY JR IN THE 1987 CLASSIC FILM "LESS THAN ZERO".👍
The movie Less than Zero was fantastic and this song is hot
I love S&G but i think the bangles own this song
Nothing hazy about the Bangles!
They ROCK!
Less Than Zero!? Robert Downey Jr.'s pinnacle performance that catapulted his career into stardom! Anyone??? ...im just old I guess
You're not alone.
Me! I saw Less Than Zero for the first time in the 90s when I was going through my pre-teen RDJ phase and bawled like a baby at the ending. Loved this song so much
If you liked RDJ in this 🎥, STAY AWAY FROM 'DOLITTLE'!!!!!!
Instead , rent
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

The IRON MAN Trilogy
That'll tide you over for the weekend.
You're Welcome.
Jason A Dismukes underrated movie and Jami Gertz? Hello ppl. You missing out
Also old and yes Jr. Was awesome in less than zero.
Simon and Garfunkel Hazy Shade Of Winter came out in the 60s Bangles recreated that song in the 80s
Play this song at my funeral
one of the best covers ever done...they truly made it their own
Love this song since I was a teenager. Now I'm 48 and still love The Bangles music.
Love this version. It's got an awesome Punk sound to it.
Such a brilliant version!❤ it!!
they should be in he music hall of fame, its not really the rock and roll hall of fame anymore; or maybe they already are; that would make sense; oh Susanna you're so lovely.
My dad loved listening to The Bangles. I have such hazy memories that feel like dreams where the music is the loudest part of it. Various of his favorite bands, including this song in particular. Just enjoying this song during a snowstorm like a day or two before Christmas. So the memory popped up again & before it slipped away again I had to ask my dad for the song lol
Less Than Zero!!
You get it!
Book was better!
Julian!!!!!!
TIME, NO SUCH THING AS TIME.
Way before anything later. Just pure undying love of The Bangles. Haha.
1987: first recorded for the soundtrack of the movie "Less than Zero". CBS wanted Susanna Hoffs (rhythm guitar) as a solo act, but all four Bangles share the lead on this one, written by Paul Simon and first performed by him and Art Garfunkel in 1966. Guitarist Vicki Peterson, drummer Debbi Peterson and bassist Michael Steele are excellent here.
I was 14 when this was released. It was the greatest start to the day when the radio alarm clock woke me up for school and this was just starting to play.
I was -11.
I was 13.
I was -5 when the Original Simon and Garfunkel version came out.
Paper Girls brought me here!
Paper girls although underrated brought me here
I Love that the Girls turned it into a Metal Song
Anyone who thinks they couldn't play only needs to hear Vicki Peterson's lead guitar on this one. Add Debbi's drums, Michael's bass and Susanna on rhythm, and those harmonies. Ah, for what could have been, had the pressures not gotten to them. Good to hear new stuff from them recently.
Simple WOW
Love it... how come I'd forgotten about this...
ONE OF TH E BEST SONGS FROM MY CHILDHOOD thank you Stranger Things for bringing me here again
This song is a gem. Missing the Bangles!!!
Me too, I'm glad I was an 80's kid 😏😏😏😏
turned 48 yesterday and this was one of the songs of my generation and I love it
Justice for Barb!!!
This version is great. Love the guitars.
Awesome song.
Does no one remember this being on Less than Zero
27. January 2021 in Bavaria, yes it is a hazy shade of winter.
This is a good cover. See Hazy Shade of Winter by Simon and Garfunkel.
this is much better imo
I like the original better. Simon and Garfunkel 😍
I adore Simon and Garfunkel, but I like this cover better
I got to have more cowbell!!!!!
lol, you beat me to it!
35 years later, I STILL get chills listening to this ❤
expose and the bangles were the best female group of the 80s..with the gogos coming in 3rd!!!
What about abba
no one cares where you heard it first. what matters is that you came here to listen to such a kickass song.
I like the Bangles version and learned the bass line and the guitar riffs a few days ago. These ladies rock and I love the vocal harmonies.
I'm not usually one for covers but the Bangles are HOT and they've got voices that could melt a stone. On top of that, the song takes on a far deeper connotation when the lyrics are sang by a girl group like the Bangles. I'm reminded of Robert Herrick's poem "To the Virgins to Make Much of Time"
Most of the commenters below don't seem to be aware of the fact that this song was written by Paul Simon; not The Bangles!
Most of the commenters below are fake google accounts used to drive up advertising revenue.
Anyone else not come here from stranger things and came here just because this is an amazingly awesome song.
I came here because of Less Than Zero :)
I came here because I heard it on Stranger Things and thought it was an awesome song!
.........NO!😳
general zzodd That was a very unusually taken aback reaction
Six Flags Great Adventure plays this over by Batman
It doesn't have to be a pissing contest over where you heard this first. Regardless, we're here, listening to dope music. Just enjoy it, FFS
😅
That riff is fucking sick. A Rock band should cover this.
I went to my neighborhood Wal-Mart and heard this song over the P.A. system. It made my visit much more enjoyable. IMHO this version is better than S&G's. Better tempo, better harmonies and simply they are better looking.
A lot of acid and cheap "soda pop" wine in the 80's brought me here
And Purple Passion.. lol
Same this sings trippy on shrooms
Hazy Shade of Winter written by Paul Simon 1966. Nice cover by the Bangles though 😀
This is one of the best covers of the Paul Simon song of A Hazy Shade of Winter.
Never realized the bangles covered S&G. Cool!!
Funny thing is Lucifer brought me here love the show and the song lol.
RIP Barb.
FML The bangles hit harder than a lot of rock bands these days...
It's true ☺
This was remixed for release as a 7" single. The 12" mix is tougher. Both are in my Bangles playlist with the S&G original. Thanks for the upload!

(반복) 땅에는 군데군데 눈이 있어요.
I loved this song when i was a kid. I love it still.
Knew the S&G version for as long as I can remember, my parents listened to that often… I'm _very_ sensitive to what people do to giants like these. I like this. This is a big fat compliment.
I just realized, this many decades later, that The Bangles omitted the last verse of the song, and every version of the song since then has omitted that verse. So that means almost every cover of this song is a cover of The Bangles cover of this song and not a cover of Simon and Garfunkel.
Unbelievable. // Jesses, I have to share my won discovery. I had just learned that this was a Paul Simon song, which verymuch surprised me because I'm a big music guy (a pianist, actually). So here was my revelation about the Bangles sining this is a different key:
The Paul Simon song here in D minor, which is known as a very stark key, the D-minor is relative to (and harmonically dependent on) F-major. F major is and open-sounding key, akin to lime-green colo. Nature. F-major has historically been used a key for the Pastoral, or "country-side" music (See Beethoven's "Pastoral Symphony in F." Therefore the song is certainly a reflection of the dark side of the seasons. "Hazy shade of winter," vs. the growth and hopefulness of spring (green).
So, again, The Paul Simon composition is is D minor. What The Bangles do is us that relative-major of D-minor (F) and make it minor. The song is now in F-minor. Therefore ,they have created a Pastoral, but as heard in a negative or "dark" light. The most fascinating thing about the Bangles version is when you ask, what if the relative-MAJOR of F-minor. The answer is A-flat. Blue. The key of death.
And, so, winter comes again....
My further rumations on the impact of choice of key can be found in Theory of Pitch Psychology here at: _The Acoustic Rabbit Hole_
@@Acoustic-Rabbit-Hole I did not notice the shift in key. I think a combination of the keys being related and the increased tempo hide it from my ears.
@@Jesses001 No, i'm saying Paul
Simon wrote it in D minor, but the Bangles sang it in F-minor. So, i was expaining why the did this.
@@Acoustic-Rabbit-Hole Sorry, I must not had explained myself well. I was saying I missed that aspect of it. Thanks for pointing it out. Lots of subtle changes.
GO BANGLES GO BANGLES
I remember having my dad buy me my first cassette of the bangles in the 80s. Best era .. and yes stranger things brought me here.. :)
From the 1987 movie, “Less Than Zero.” 80s rock!
these girls rock and hard to beat this cover.
As much as I really like Simon and Garfunkel's original, I think this song was really just waiting for the Bangles to come along and do it real justice! Love their harmonies!
How I 'm still love those babies.. Since then.. till today💕❤️💕❤️💖💖
A much rockier version than the original. Very good, in my opinion
Whilst I still like the original I do have to say the rock cover here is also pretty good.
