I am in an never ending circle of despair and joy. Nier Automata is hands down my top game of 2017. You all did an amazing job and I just want to hug you all right now. Please don't mind the tears and snot.

Newt Sangster ♥ yoko taro never reuses his characters. It's highly unlikely we see them again except for references in future games.
Firebolt 66 He doesn't actually ends the story with all the information we need to fully understand but he gave us the option to do the research in the game so we can end the story. I believe that the next NieR will take place in the world where the arch will land.

Quick FAQ
*Is it canon?*
Yes, it's the script written by the game creator, Yoko Taro.
*Is act V taking place after ending C or D?*
It could be both. According to Taro Ark launches anyway in both endings C and D, just empty in C, because A2 destroys the data on it.
*Is the good ending or bad ending canon?*
Personally, I think it's the good one. Bad one was included in the books containing the whole script that were sold to people before the concert. People were told to not leak the script contents to the internet before the concert, but of course it got leaked anyway - I assume that Taro anticipated that, and put the bad ending here to troll people. Then, at the concert, the good ending was played.
*Does A2 survive? She isn't mentioned in the last script.*
She is briefly mentioned (well, at least her memories/records). We also see her body and memories recovered in in-game ending E, and in another short story from NieR Automata Strategy Guide, also taking place post-E (but before act V of the concert), pods mention that the reboot time for 9S, 2B, *and A2* is near. When asked about that in the interview, Taro said that it's A2 fate is up to interpretation, but given all the clues I think one can assume that she wakes up.
Hello man sorry to annoy you with this 4 years later but you seems to know a lot about the true ending. I'm not English so it's pretty hard for me to understand evrything in the video but i got a question if you may answer:
I happen to watch the video of the concer where 2B seems to succesfully wake up with 9S after a long search of his data on the arch. This is the good ending you're talking about?
Then when can i find the bad ending that you mention being given befor the concert?
Does A2 appear in none of the two ?

1. Yes, the ending where 9S wakes up is the good ending.
2. UA-cam will probably hide my comment if I post a link, but to find the other ending google "farewell nier automata theark wiki", then go into the first link - there'll be a full transcript there.
3. A2 appears in none of the two, and Taro just said that it's up to the player to decide what happened to her.

I wouldn't feel too bad if A2 was dead by the end, she had her redemption story arc completed so didn't have as much to live for anymore but 9s and B2 would have finally had a chance to have a life together with their own choices and that is a happy ending i think they deserved.
@@TyrannosaurusCHEX I think this is for this reason that Yoko Taro didn't really tell us about A2 so you're right, but i feel like A2 deserve to know a peacfull world aswell after all she went trough so i would be glad if she was alive to then die as peacfully as possible in this new world

If you didn't know, there are two more scripts called Memory Cage and Orbital Bunker Observation Diary. Great video btw :)
There is a lot more, but those aren't actually scripts, but novellas - Memory Cage, Memory Thorn, A Much Too Silent Sea, Small Flower, Orbital Bunker Observation Diary, and two small stories about pods fishing post-E and about 9S transfering to his body after route A/B.

So everyone basically uploads 9s's conciousness to the probe (is that the good ending) and those not choosing leads to the bad ending, and there's supposed to be some way to get this in game but never happened, perhaps this was the real last secret not the cheat code that creates a special save file, but actually you're meant to see this ending (but sounds like it's one of the written novels like many of the things in the game) and then gives you that save file. Lets just hope it didn't requrie special debug codes, because I wouldn't put it past them that you had to essentially use the debug menu to cheat a special ending where your data is preserved beyond ending e.

So the latest point in canon is that 2B and 9S are back alive with all memories of what happened in the game. Are the machines still on earth? Will there still be conflict? I seem to recall there being a part where the machine network realised that there was no point fighting anymore
So, ai just wanna make sure I have this down right, because I really want these two characters to have the good ending they deserve, but what I gathered is that 9S wakes up after 2B overloads her blackbox, and they are both okay, alive, and in the company of each other now? can someone please tell me if I'm right?

Damn just finished all 5 endings (now I'm left with achievement/trophy hunting)! Absolutely love this game. I was happy with Ending E with all three of them coming back (at least that's the impression I get). It's a shame A2's future is missing, though I would like to assume A2 would head back to the Resistance and eventually meet up with 2B and 9S in the future (yep that's my canon ending lol). Damn it, definitely not going to find a game this great for awhile!!! Though I haven't played Nier or the Drakengard series, hmmm.
