I don't tend to nosedive into fandoms to the extent of "consume everything that's ever been created about The Thing" but NieR is just.. on a level so beyond any other thing I've experienced. I wouldn't sit for two and a half hours to listen to a script reading for anything else. This game is special, in large part because of the voice actors who make it so. Kyle and Kira, you really made NieR: Automata come to life, and your performance for these scripts is absolutely incredible. It's really nice to see that you two are just as invested in your characters and the game as the fans are. I hope to see one or both of you at a con someday! Cheers! :)
I completely agree with you. Nier made me feel emotions for characters that i have never felt before. Especially for 2B. I seriously started crying when she died.

While I do agree that the good ending was a bit lazy, I love the idea of 2B and 9S finally getting to live together without the restraints of YoRHa. They can finally be happy together and honest with one another.
My only gripe is that the dialogue when 9S wakes up is very generic. Especially considering all the crazy s**t he went through after 2B died. You'd think that he would say something truly heartwarming and adorable. I do like the callback to ending A, though: "I'm really glad you're okay"

@@Civilized-Joke I like to think it ties into Final Fantasy XIV and the "YoRHa Dark Apocalypse" ending, that the memories and data etc from that being transferred back to him is what brought him back. or something similar.
Edit: I may have misinterpreted the ending to that, but hiding a big reveal in something like that seems in keeping with Taro's unconventional style.

I think what I really love about my experience with Nier is how these voice actors have made the effort of bring the spin-off lore to life and have embraced these characters instead of it simply being another job.
Holy shit, this was amazing. When Kira and Kyle got so into their lines, they started crying, it made me cry too, I was picturing 2B and 9S in my head, very powerful performance. Also, I prefer the good ending, I know the bad one is the overall better ending, but after how bad this game made me cry, I NEEDED a happy ending. Ha ha.
I still come back to this whenever I need my fix of Kyle and Kira's fanservice. The emotions played out between 9S and 2B are palpable and so strong. I feel the pain and agony deep in my soul, and they really make pure art out of sadness and suffering.
NieR means a lot to me. The games have been there during the darkest points in my life, and the story reminds me to hold those I love close. You guys put so much love and care into your roles, and I love that so much. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for putting your all into 9S and 2B.
I have my fingers crossed that you guys will dub the anime when the time comes. It wouldn't be the same without you.

So a bit of a delay on the delivery of this, but with the good vs bad ending discussion. I think it’s supposed to be dependent on which option between "I'll go with you" or "I'll stay" as 9s. The staying option is the good ending cause 9s’s data remains for the pods to reconstruct and the bad is if his data goes off on the rocket. Just my theory though.
that makes some sense, though it's possible there's some other explanation that could elaborate on it later, and knowing Yoko Taro, I wouldn't be surprised if he tucked it away in some crossover or something.

The good ending is hinted at being the cannon ending as 2b is referenced in the Emil head weapon story's

Niño Valenzuela Ark launches anyway, just empty in C - Yoko Taro said that. So it can be both C/D. And yeah, A2 fate is up to interpretation, but they recovered her body and memories. I think she wakes up.
I just want to point out that 9s black box in the good end acted like a machine core and recoverd his being since thats what machines cores do as long as they arent destroyed

You'd think they would update the security in that weak ass server after their own scanner units consistently access it.
Ben Forer I think the idea is that 9S is designed to be a strong enough hacker that no matter what they do, he'll be able to get in. Which is why 2B is there to put him down every time that happens.
That seems reasonable, but as we've seen in the game, there are things that even 9S can't hack, like the tower door. And since YoRHa uses machine technology, it isn't completely out of their ability.
Ben Forer YoRHa uses machine technology only for their cores, really.

Quick FAQ, mostly regarding Act V of the script
*Is it canon?*
Yes, it's the script written by the game creator, Yoko Taro.
*Is act V taking place after ending C or D?*
It could be both. According to Taro Ark launches anyway in both endings C and D, just empty in C, because A2 destroys the data on it.
*Is the good ending or bad ending canon?*
Personally, I think it's the good one. Bad one was included in the books containing the whole script that were sold to people before the concert. People were told to not leak the script contents to the internet before the concert, but of course it got leaked anyway - I assume that Taro anticipated that, and put the bad ending here to troll people. Then, at the concert, the good ending was played.
*Does A2 survive? She isn't mentioned in the last script.*
She is briefly mentioned (well, at least her memories/records). We also see her body and memories recovered in in-game ending E, and in another short story from NieR Automata Strategy Guide, also taking place post-E (but before act V of the concert), pods mention that the reboot time for 9S, 2B, *and A2* is near. When asked about that in the interview, Taro said that it's A2 fate is up to interpretation, but given all the clues I think one can assume that she wakes up.

So in other words, Ending C is the worse between itself and Ending D since this would mean the data of machines like Adam and Eve would've perished before the had a chance to leave the planet and establish elsewhere, hopefully to live and form a new peaceful society. Also Yoko Taro is both a genius and a madman for purposefully giving people a script with the bad ending so that the people that who would leak it would actually be misleading rather than actually spoil his true intentions on the story. Can't say whether this level of commitment to storytelling should be what other writers should aspire to, but I have to admit and admire Yoko Taro dedication.

Showing up 4 years late with Starbucks, but I just wanted to let you guys know that I found this stream during a really stressful time and it immensely helped. I love NieR like crazy and 9S has always been my favorite. I love how much you guys love the game and how eager you guys have been to continue entertaining the fandom with voice requests and excellent side-content like this.

Oh, wow. I'm so late to the party. I can't believe it took me so long to find this. Nier Automata is one of my favorite games of all time -- but it's also one of those rare games where I actually prefer the English voice cast to the Japanese tracks. So when I first read the excellent fan translation of the concert epilogue I was dying to hear it with the English actors -- but I never thought I'd get the chance! Thank you for putting this together. Special love for the A2 vs. 9S sequence. I love smug bastard 9S and I'm LIVING a little for Katelyn's A2. I wish I could hear this at the Nier Automata concert in Chicago in January!

Well, you probably figured it out since the time of posting, but the 250km wasn't the blast radius, but the server's operation range. When it got knocked out, all machines withhin that radius shut down.
Gonna be honest, I knew 2B had killed Nines a lot up to the events of the game but holy cow I had no idea about the frequency of said killings. Seems like it happened at least on a monthly basis which my god, talk about heartbreaking for 2B.
Edit: I posted this before Act 2 even started and now I'm just like oh my god, didn't see that coming at all. Number 9 is the one who made the backdoor!? I was under the impression that the Machine Network had made YoRHa based on their wanting to keep the war going as it was it's only purpose.Also it was made clear in the game that the Network undermined itself in an attempt to prolong to war, I figured it made YoRHa, added the backdoor and the story with humans still being alive to keep android morale up as a method to ensure their real enemy kept fighting back strongly.
Just got damn legit excited to finally witness this happening, especially Act 5... no matter how superbly and beautifully shellshocking it will be...
...but first, gotta find enough free time to finish watching the Automata playthrough here on the 9Stream...
I'm just gonna download the broken up acts and listen to them at work tomorrow, but I'm saying now that I know this will be fantastic. I just wanted 2b & 9s to tell each other they loved one another in the good ending. But this eased my heart knowing they lived on together with no restraints. I closed my eyes & I imagined EVERY SINGLE SCENE you guys did in my head & Jesus you guys killed it. It made me feel like I was playing Nier again. Awwwwww it’s so weird to see Kira be so emotional when 2B is so cold. It really made me happy that you guys did this so my heart feels so eased knowing the true ending of nier. I love you guys so much! 9s & 2b forever. ♥️🥺 You guys were such good voice actors that really made Nier real good & made 2b & 9s to life. It makes me so happy knowing that the real 2b feels our sad emotions too cause seeing her die made me feel so empty. 🥺 Knowing she came back to life feels so much better though. We love y’all.

I thought that i couldnt get more hyped for Astral Chain that came out today. Then, in the intro, it said that Kyle was voicing the little yellow robot. That made my day and i was about to cry because that means, that this is gonna be awesome. Gave me 9S vibes all over again, it was, as if he was hacking into another machine lifeform lol.

This is the second time I'm watching this concert reading and you guys made me cry again. I'd love to have more great games in this series from now on, we've been pampered by Yoko Taro's awesome writing. I hope he keeps producing his art for many many years. And you guys are amazing. I work with localization and the job this translator did was fantastic! They should really be working with localization for the entertainment industry! Also, you guys are doing an amazing job in the voice acting industry! Please keep up your great job!
