All this is true! My poodle recognizes many words as I say the same words for each situation & I always repeat the same so that he understands exactly what’s up :)
If you’re consistent with the feeding etc schedule & always use the same words they’ll feel more secure

Long walks with a dog, a mile or greater, is a cardiac exercise, more effective than just walking alone. When you allow your dog to follow his nose when he/she stops to explore odors or find a spot to answer nature's call, you will be starting and stopping your pace continually. This is much better than just maintaining a constant level of exertion., as your obdy continually adjusts to the exertion of the pace. Dogs are helping us live healthier and longer.

When I took in Nayla. A 9 month old GSD, that had been run through several households in a short period of time. She was so timid and loving. After a month, I soon realized why most couldn't deal with the energy. She wasn't a bad dog, she just choose to do bad things. Watched so many GSD videos and realized I was as much of the problem as she was. Sadly lost her last December. Heart broken I don't know why I got another puppy. Got Ginger at 6 weeks old, and a steep learning curve. Father St. Bernard/ Husky, mother Rottweiler, Pitbull. Stubborn as FU$K, but a total sweetheart. Constantly over the last year learning, the best ways we interact with each other.

Had dogs my whole life, now I'm 72. I've loved each of them fully. You gave very good suggestions. There are a couple I'd add, but most would be quite offended. How ever, they work that day, forever, and cause no harm.

Correction you don't need to switch from collar to harness because if your dog is trained and well-behaved, it won't be pulling during walks and is in no risk of neck injury. Key take train your dogs.

I haven't found a dog that I've fallen in love with. Having had dogs the one thing I notice is that just about all the people who have dogs within a number of blocks will pull on their collars and drag the dog away from a scent they wanted to explore. I was trained, before body harnesses were easy to find, that pulling on the dogs neck not just causes pain but can damage the dogs throat. We were taught, before I had made my own harness, that you should pull from the side so as not to damage the dogs throat. I made the mistake of telling a young woman, who was obviously in a hurry, that the way she was pulling on her dogs collar was damaging to his throat. I started to say you are pulling straight back and that is just cartilage. She didn't appreciate the advice and had an excellent number of swear words to toss at me and I even learned some new ones. Live and learn.
