I always found the idea of debates being a contest in which people can 'win' or 'lose' ridiculous. If I am genuinely interested in something or someone, then I want a reciprocal exchange, not a competition or a conflict.

@@cerdic6586 Facts💯! The 'win' or 'lose' mentality is pretty much "the kiss of death" especially when in a case where they cannot accept a 'clear defeat'.

I used to be someone who actively thought about things a lot, and really tried to use my insights to change things, to make things. Delving deep into topics, just because they're interesting, and learning new skills. I created art, made music, learned programming, all kinds of stuff.
These days I find myself mostly consuming. Not being proactive. I feel stuck. I very much comprehend the situation I'm in, but my efforts to change it are indecisive at best.
Suffering from depression for years, I used to think being okay was the best I could hope for, not great, not good, but ok. So I embraced the big ok so to speak, in an effort to not feel the pain, but in the process I lost big parts of what makes me special. Everything feels dulled down now.
I want to win these parts of myself back, but I'm struggling.
Your video (and some of the comments under it) inspired me to look the truth in the eye. For the past three hours I've been thinking, reflecting and taking notes. Exercising an ability I thought I had lost (or lost partly, at least). For the first time in a good while I feel mentally/intellectually alive (sounds pretentious, I know, but I haven't found better words for it).
    So thank you, really.
I hope I manage to make something of this.

There's definitely a lost 'art' of calm & productive conversation nowadays. Too much people feel the need to be right instead of humbly admitting when they are wrong. One thing for sure besides that I've noticed when communicating to certain people, is that most lack...comprehension.
You can communicate with any/every people but only a few out of those will have the comprehension to hear what you are saying and respond accordingly (listening to understand) instead of listening to respond before taking in the information, comprehending what was/is said to you, and THEN respond. It really is a sad/disappointing state of affairs amongst other things.

I agree, I’ve learned recently that it’s so important to be able to question our beliefs, understanding, and perceived realities.
It’s not about doubting what we know, rather it’s about weeding through the garden in our minds; taking out what isn’t right, nourishing what is already there, and planting new ideas.
I like to think of it as getting out of my own way to learn truth and/or be open to learn what God is trying to teach me and lead the life that will bring out the best in me.

The nice thing about making art and music is it’s experiential and more abstract. I’m slowly moving away from wanting to have debates and arguments 😂. I liked the video! Peace!!

Love it! That's why it's so important to be able to be smart in a logical way and intelligent in an emotional way, a combination between high IQ and high EQ. I see it as the balance you have to have with your masculine and feminine energy, without that balance, you aren't truly your best version of yourself.

In fact the pain is the best teacher from it we are able to learn more, even though when anyone notices harmful outcomes, but if it's painless. There's a high likelihood that we will ignore this factor, although some knowledge help you to understand the issue but I reckon that doesnt matter what you know but the crucial aspect seems to be what you've implemented to your life, i need to admit that these insights appear to be gripping.

I feel that too. I would really like to see myself as an intelligent person, but when I am honest with myself, even though I'm decently good in the "understanding"-department, I'm still very much lacking in the "taking action"-department.
This video is a bit of an eye opener. Your comment helped me to break it down to the essence for me, so thanks.

    @goodkushvevo 16 днів тому

lmao i be thinking deeply like this. is your intelligence only measurable through your actions? Technically yes I think. You could be the smartest person in the world, but if you don't apply the knowledge it will just rust away in your brain instead of confronting the fear that is holding you back. Pain is something unavoidable, I think we should embrace the full spectrum of human emotion to motivate and define us.
