Before I review 'Sleeping Dogs', the next two reviews will be Forza Horizon & The Simpsons: Hit & Run...
Are you going to do True Crime: New York City ? Or are you skipping that one ?
Sleepings dogs...clunky game, but interesting game indeed. I loved it
@@DrCooch For now, since Sleeping Dogs is the next Patreon suggestion after this one, and I already have it in my collection...
Thank you for answering my request. I asked for this month's ago
after that can you do a review on EA's Shox plz,
I remember my mom wanted to try it and she took the biggest car jump I've ever seen. Could never replicate it.
Something about moms and videogames, they do some crazy shit.

It's true about the map.
I was able to find the hotel I stayed at when I went over there when I was 12 for a family holiday.
yeah... problem since you had to remember the map... you can remember anything.. love this game but if you tell me to play again.. i won't... hope one day it get modern remake..
Brilliant!! Love it
Same here. They actually had the Radisson Wilshire and the subway station across the street. It wasn't branded, of course, but still.
We NEED a new Sleeping Dogs or True Crime game, Sleeping Dogs is so replayable it's a shame United Front is defunct.
shame that Square Enix is sleeping on that IP, it has so much potential. the value of that IP and the open world genre has been increased a lot in the last 10 years. if they would make a new SD game it will definitely sell like a hot cake
@@v-trigger6137 for real man I've replayed sleeping dogs more than any other game from last gen, it's fun as hell , it's just like playing a Hong Kong action movie, they're fools if they don't continue the series, there was also meant to be Donnie Yen film that's still in production.
It really is a shame that game didn’t get the love it deserved, sleeping dogs is top ten GOAT games for me.
sleeping dog OG as true crime hong kong... hence some familiar...
They are the same, it was first planned as third game of the series then it was cancelled and then picked up again and renamed. But yeah guess now they are two distinct franchises.
I still say "Time to hit the road jack...I mean, Nick." getting in the car sometimes...and nobody ever knows what the hell I'm talking about.
😭😂 ikr
I love to drop “imma jack you and your family” with my friends and they just think I’m weird.
@@ae5642 I mean they're not wrong
Lol, bought the PS2 because of this game. I saw a coworker playing it at his house and I loved it so much I went to the store the same day to buy a new playstation.
i had pc port...
I would suggest True Crime New York it’s even better (from what I remember)
NYC wasn't as good tbh, streets of LA felt more finished
Nick Kang is one of my favorite video game characters! Got this from EB Games in 2005 when I was in highschool. My first M rated game and soo many memories, and such a hilarious game!
"Hooooooooollllllllyyyyyyyy Bejesus!!!"
Man, I remember playing the crap out of this ages ago. I always thought it was funny how the devs took those potshots at Rockstar. And man was this game janky, but in a fun way, ah early 2000s games.
And GTA san Andreas shot back as well in some of their billboards throughout the city.
P. Diddy Kong Ah yeah the True Grime: Street Sweeper billboard in SA 😂 tbh the Jockstrap jab at Rockstar was pretty good tho imo.
You kill a character named “Nick Kong” in Vice City too, a spoof of Nick Kang. Petty.
I played it but on gamecube i always did matrix shit there hahahha
Idc what anybody says this game is a classic pure nostalgia for me
I just finished replaying this today and colourshed comes out with this? Maaaannn its a good day.
yeah i had the pc port... won't replay for a while since i can not stand the control...
He has a habit of doing that
Maaan, I should've taken the bus...
Thats Like Me With Cinema Sins. Whenever I Watch A Movie I See of Cinema Sins have done A Video on it lol.
Sleeping Dogs was/is one of the most underrated games that I absolutely love!! One small detail many miss is you can stop criminals from stealing purses and return them like in GTA V but there is no icon on the minimap showing it occur. You just need to listen closely and look out for it. Oh also there is a designated walking button so you can just walk around and enjoy the ambience of the night market.
True Grime Street Cleaners: Get rid of old rubbish fast!
Gotta love Rockstar's humor hehe.
Rockstar was brutal back then. No one was messing with them. I'd like to imagine rockstar as the boss developer of the gaming industry, do things on their own term, and no one dares to fire them shots.
@@edwin99901 they used to be so cool back then, now it's just corporate greed, their games felt like they had heart in them
@@rexnihilum7822 felt like a bunch of smart bad asses making games back then but then again the 2000s and mindsets back then were way more real and authentic compared to today mjst we remember that the 2000s is apart of the greats decades 50s,60s,70s,80s,90s,00s,
@Peruano ML I'd say theyve been feeling themselves way too much after gta 5, but at the same time they still put out an amazing game that is rdr2. I doubt gta 6 will be anything other than amazing. Hopefully they prove us wrong when they announce their next game, us being the ones who are getting tired of their recent practices.
Man this bring a lot, A LOT of old memories, when we saw that city, and you making missions ramdomly taking out criminals, to shout and show your badge , to put the scuffs on them or search for stuff in citizens, this game was incredible by it's time , and it got me hooked like not that much games did back in those days, thanks bro
There was nothing more fun than turning on the siren to perform traffic stops. Then arresting the driver and doing illegal searches.
I always thought grand theft auto over shadowed this game heavily and was just dubbed as a mediocre gta clone but I absolutely love this game and I loved Russell Wong as anti-hero Nick Kang. This game had just as a star studded cast as a Gta game did at the time.
I really miss that time when developers used to make games with a star studied cast, and market the game like some upcoming summer blockbuster hollywood movie. nowadays they just hire the same generic white male voice actor Troy Baker and Nolan North over and over again.
zero creativity and boldness
Honestly, as a fan of sandbox games I've always found the term "GTA clone" as bit of a complement.
I've always loved the GTA franchise, to the point where I'd play any game where I can drive cars in an open map (and being able to step out and use weapons makes it kind of a bonus), and quite frankly I'd take GTA clones over linear walking simulators, horror games, and Dark Souls clones (no, I don't hate DS for the difficulty, I'm just not a fan of the setting), but that's just me.
@General Jiggler with that being said, I wonder if a review of Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction, and also one on World in Flames will happen.
@@mattc2306 "GTA Clone" is literally just a category of video games. Saints Row, Sleeping Dogs, True Crime and the Legendary Scarface. Nothing hard to comprehend.
The game had surprisingly huge map for its time, like 10 times larger than San Adreas.

One of my favorite games back in the day. I especially loved Snoop, his lowrider, and the soundtrack.
It reminds me of Shenmue, Max Payne, GTA.
Kinda
And midnight Club is still cancelled soz
And Driver
it more driver...open world back then had alot of IP...
No please not again
Ah the memories me when I was playing this on Xbox back in 2003 with my cousins I was 20 years old. I wish I could go back to those days. The 2000s were truly the last great decade.
I remember getting this for PS2 for Christmas 2003 and played the shit out of it. I did all the endings and mastered all the dojos etc. I always had maximum good cop and would arrest people constantly. "You thought the law and the law won" was my favourite phrase.
You should play true crime streets of nyc before you do sleeping dogs. I like the game alot and the only real problem I had with it was the framerate. Side note, I'm finally getting around to playing sleeping dogs this week!
And how New York City is unbeatable on Xbox, which sucks horribly!! XD Still, I love these games to death for how cheesy they are, LA especially, along with Wind Waker, it was one of my first video games!!
@@TheHulk1850 i didnt know that at all. I had it on ps2. Glad you still like the series :)
@@abdullahfaheem4369 Of course, I grew up with it!! It will always have a special place in my heart!!
I loved that game so much that this week unpacked my ps2 and I'm playing again this days 15 years later
Yeah nyc wad the best ! My problem was some bugs but apart from that
I love this game. I miss early 2000's action games like this.
Do a review of 'Total Overdose' please! Think it fits the nostalgia vibes your channel has 👍
That was such a fun game. Not just with the gameplay, but Ram was funny as the protagonist.
"I think Freud would have had something to say about your obsession with my big cojones."
Sleeping Dogs was actually a reboot of the True Crime franchise initially! The license fell through and they decided to continue development under a new name. Also fun fact: Seth Rogen used True Crime as a way to tell his friend Evan Goldberg how to get around LA!
First game i ever clocked in my life! I was about 6-7 years old when i played it. Replayed it last year and as much as it hasn't aged well it will forever be in my heart and in my top 5 of all time.
I honestly have a soft spot for this game. I love GTA-style games as well as action games in general.
And while it surely has some jank, there's some charm to the cheesiness factor.
And quite frankly, I prefer more silly action games like this, as well as other action-oriented titles like Wreckless: The Yakuza Missions, Stuntman: Ignition, the Army of Two games, etc.
Sure, while there are better stuff out there and I get that most games these days are trying to be as artistic as the best movies out there.
And that's all well and good, I prefer a game like True Crime over The Last of Us.
This is mostly preference, but I prefer the bombastic action movie over the melodramatic awards bait.
Oh yeah. I was waiting for this. I only played True Crime NYC on PS2. Would like to see what are your thoughts on that game, when the review will come out at some point. I do like the story of that game, but I would be lying if I said that game didn't have it's fair share of problems as well. Because it certainly did. Funny how Sleeping Dogs was oiriginally planned to be a new True Crime game as well. Because both Sleeping Dogs and True Crime are about an under cover cop and gives the player a choice to be either a good cop or a bad cop.
I loved both true crime games as a kid.
Nick was great, had some awesome one liners.
True crime NYC was the very first eighteen game I ever played. I wish they would either reboot or remaster those games!
Seriously, what's keeping you from buying an original xbox? Buy it. It's a great console.
Thank you for your videos! It's always nice to watch them with food.
It was the first time I heard about this game, and it was interesting to listen to it)
This game had a banging soundtrack made exclusively for the game. I’ve been on every single street in the game.
These reviews are good, but I feel the reviewer never pays much attention to the npcs and the atmosphere of the world, like if it feels like a real breathing world, you have to give that to gta IV over V, and saints row 2 over 3. I dunno I know gameplay is important but in an open world game it’s not everything. He kinda touches on it but maybe he just doesn’t care about that.
I remember being 10 and wanting this game so badly. But when I showed my Dad the game cover it was an automatic "nah" from him lol.
Honestly . I really love these classic reviews . Keep them coming !
Iv'e been waiting for this
Edit: Please do True Crime NYC as well!
Holy crap, I literally just beat this game lol. This is gonna be s good review!
I had to subscribe after seeing you reviewed this. Ive watched all your Gta Reviews but this was also a game from my childhood
No joke, can I just say I've been looking for Vigilante 8 for almost 2 decades now. Only going off the vague memory of a vehicular combat game i played when i was like 6 or 7 that had cars that hovered and that wasn't twisted metal. Such fond memories of that game and now I finally know the name. Thank you!
another awesome video....keep up the good work and enjoy your break
Really love the video! I don't know if it was the young me, but beating the general on the skyscraper rooftop got me furious tons of times. It actually seemed impossible to me. When you said it was based on luck most of the times, I truly believe you haha. Lucky combo's and being fortunate enough not to be hit or grabbed by the general were the times that got me the closest. I just watched somebody finish the game on UA-cam, since I figured I was never going to finish it myself. Might try it again soon!
Good arguments, you really show of everything off the game imo. Well done!
The one thing I remember most from this game was that you could blow up any vehicle by shooting the gas cap. This game was definitely unique for it's time to say the least.
Remember staying up a whole day playing this. Messed up my sleep cycle, but it was worth it. Game was so fun
Noiceee love the reviews mate keep up the excellent work as per usual
I remember finding cool locations in the game and trying to remember where they are on the map, only to never be able to find them again. Eventually printed the map, which helped, but it was still difficult to find exact spots. Those small lines for the roads were really hard to see on my old CRT tv.
True crime: New York City is amazing!!
Have you ever played GTA4?
Nice one Man.
Can u do the True Crime Nyc, too?
A review I didn’t know I needed. Thank you.
Nice review man I love it . Couple you do a review on true crime streets of ny please.
Childhood game right here.
Had it on all the systems, and when I heared they made NY as a kid I had to get and when Hong Kong (Sleeping Dogs) was announced, as a teen hype levels were at a all time high
WHY DOES NOBODY TALK ABOUT THE TC: NYC GAME!!!
EVERYONE EVER ONLY TALKS ABOUT S of LA,
IT'S ALMOST LIKE THE GAME DOESN'T EVEN EXIST, WTF?
Aside from the glitches, the game is very underrated.
It was fun at time's but on Xbox it was impossible to complete due to a bug in a vital boss fight, I had it on PS2 and that mission was almost impossible but apparently possible, needless to say when I enjoyed it was just patrolling the streets NYC and seeing what madness I could cause, sometimes rampaging in True Crime NY was better than GTA SA!, I honestly said that.
For me it felt cheaper and watered down so I never really bothered that much with that.
the only good thing about tc:nyc is it gave developers jobs
@@TheIndulged1 Which mission was that?
i think my favorite part of this game was that you could handcuff literally anyone & when you did it to a old lady sometimes a 44 magnum would pop out loll
I remember this game my game was scratched ,so it would skip over some parts in the intro. Damn , this game deserves a remake
Good video ma brofa, keep em comin
Brilliant in-game quotations, it really makes your video a standout.
True crime ny is much better if I remember correctly
that game is a bit more RPG.. since you had to be good cop or you won't progressing... and no auto aim... this game is fun with endless shooting... hence why i found hard to play game that don't let me shoot a lot of bullet... it not as fun...
campkira what do you mean “you have to be good cop or you won’t progressing” that doesn’t sound like an RPG to me. I could be interpreting that wrong but I liked it because I played both and found true crime NY to play better than LA because I didn’t struggle as much as I did with LA’s combat system. You could see him struggling to tackle criminals but me playing NY as a child I found the crime aspect easier, driving felt better too as well as navigating.
@@campkira what? You could be a bad cop and progress, you just couldn't let your badge get so low before missions were locked.
@Black Saint It had more then just more features, the city was enhanced, the shooting, melee combat, driving, the soundtrack and voice acting was better, not to mention the variety of crimes you can solve.
@@mrpickle-pe2in driving is not better at all.
Holly shit i always wanted you to do this review!
The best thing about this game was how there was an alternate route or cutscene if you failed a mission instead of constantly redoing the same thing and you could still progress down the alternate paths and I've never seen another do this yet
True Crime: Streets of NY is my favorite game of all time. The deepest Cop game ever, despite it's flaws.
The only thing I remember about this game was Taproot's "Poem". Been a fan ever since.
Here I am watching this video when all of a sudden, this happens.
"A lot of these one liners and puns are so corny you could make millions out of them as a farmer"
You killed me. I wasn't expecting something so random and funny. Good day to you, sir.
The best reviewer of UA-cam!!!
Temple street near the highway was so glitched where it launched your bus into the air spinning.
I remember looking up the location of Die Hard's Nakatomi Plaza and finding it in this game. I had a ton of fun exploring this massive map.
Played this game so much in my childhood, watching this made my day let alone my entire month man❤❤❤
Hey bro. Love your vids! But I wanna know why don't you use PC versions?
That end credits dance off 🔥🔥🔥🔥👌🏾
Played this and new york on the ps2 and those games were really fun,but never finished LA
Dual wield any weapon combination was so fun
Wow, whatta throwback! I LOVED this game! Cruisin around LA in a Snoop Deville! Hell yeah!
I went to LA and walked from Korea Town to Hollywood Blvd and got there from memory from this game. It literally has every street. I had people stop and ask me for directions, and I gave it to them perfectly. Even the LA convention center was right where it should be on Figueroa St right next to the Staples Center.
True Crime somehow someway reminds me of the movie “The Corruptor”
Oh yess the early 2000's i was a teenager then so this game for me cane out at the RIGHT time i was so impressed with the production value of this game and enjoyed it havent played it in like 16 years though once i beat it i guess i just put it down but this video is making me want to go back in my crate and pop it in my PS2 lol
Great review
Being from LA it was crazy when I could recognize all these streets, even drove by my house; obviously didn't look the same but still it was awesome. I remember trying to collect all the bones to unlock Snoop Dogg but gave up since it took forever and I got annoyed. I didn't even know there was a cheat code to unlock him back then lol.
I still remember the one street on the map where no matter who you frisked they would get arrested. Easy way to stack good cop points. This was my most played GameCube game for sure
Great review I am looking forward to your sleeping dogs review. The drshon battle is a pain and I hated the final general battle
I remember playing this around 2004 in a internet cafe, never got around finishing it since i ran out of money to use the computer haha, it was a really impressive game for it's time.
I remember playing this back in the day, and I had a lot of fun with it. I believe it had custom soundtrack support on the Xbox as well. Another game that gets overlooked is The Getaway. My heart was broken when the PS3 project was scrapped.
I still remember that one mission that the objective is way across the map. I fell asleep driving my way there many times. And at least 10 retries in a row to beat the final boss.
Nice review. I hope you revisit all of your original Xbox reviews at some point, assuming you now own an original Xbox.
I’ve noticed that a lot of retro channels lack an OG Xbox in the collection. It’s a great system and it is annoying when they just use use the crappy 360 emulation to compensate.
Perfect timing I was looking at true crime
me and my manz logged in HOURS on this. Used to get the lil street cars and spin through the whole map 😂. Liked how you could aim at the gas tanks on the back on the cars in slow mo and blow the cars up. You could aim at body parts when ppl would run catch em wit a leg shot and cuff em, great times 😂.
Very happy you did this, as it was one of my favourites back on the old Xbox, and I’m very much looking forward to the Forza Horizon review! One of the best driving games on the 360 just for the fun-factor alone!
"Hey, maybe you guys just need a BIG HUG."
This was one of those 720p Xbox games. I enjoyed it at the time. I was hugely disappointed by New York City. There was a good game there but the technical issues ruined it.
That bloody dragon boss. I struggled hard to beat him on pc when i was a kid. yea and the map was massive for the time.
yeah.. i still remeber... just see them.. i feel so mad...
It still is massive lol.
5:18 You forgot someone else despite literally showing him there, and he'll show up in a latter review directly linked to this too with Sleeping Dogs, James Hong, playing as his character from Big Trouble in Little China, and he actually shows up in all three games now that I think of it, also you should go in order with the True Crime Series, some characters from the second show up in the third, and its kind of the least known and least remembered of the franchise that most people dont remember, so it would be kind of a rare thing to have on this channel.
@6:08 I remember that period. Jeez I'm old.
I am excited about this video
Used to play this so much on the PS2.

"Game Eployees Overworked Take to Smoking Cigars at Desk"
one of my favourite easter eggs in a video game.
The guy smoking a cigar in that photo is Dan Bickell, who modeled all the vehicles for TC:LA and went on to create vehicles & weapons for the Call of Duty series.
One of my favorite games of all time and True Crime NYC took the formula and expanded upon it even further creating one of the most underrated games of all time and both games are completely deserving of a remaster/remake
And I can honestly say this was the first game that I've ever played that managed to not only create a cool open world like GTA but combined it with great shooting like a John Woo film or Max Payne and added in the greatness that is a Kung Fu beat em up all at once this game truly stood out from the competition and playing through the story felt like you were the star in an action comedy film
Had it on PC and to be honest I didn't have those issues you mentioned. Did they fix issues they had on consoles or maybe the control layout was better and more accurate, but I only have fond memories of the game.
I almost got a heard attack when i found out collour reviewing this
Had this for my gamecube as a child. It's my favorite game of all time honestly
This was one of my all time favs. It also introduced me to funk music (not to knee deep was the song if I can remember correctly)
Excited for the sleeping dogs review. Kinda hoping for True crime New York, as you can see it's improvements over original if you don't mind the input lag.
Great video. Good game i got it for $2 last year too and i remember playing it too back then when it was new.
The fact they recreated L.A. street by street is extremely impressive, and I would love for a developer to try something like that with today's technology.
Cool Video 👌🏻😎
Me and my younger sister use to play this game all the time when I was a kid I fell in love with it cause I just felt like a badass when I was playing one of my favourite games ever on the ps2
When I hear "Poem" by the band Taproot, I always think of this game!
:D Yup. Does the Jimmy Fu's warehouse strike in your mind when hearing it?
