The thing is, I used to have a Logitech G 29 then I sold it because I wanted to get a fanatec then I’m hearing with fanatec that you would buy the wheel bundle from them then you would have to pay the UPS shipping charge and then you would have to pay custom fees. I’m like to myself. How do I pay those as I’ve never had to have done that before as with retailers the shipping will be done on the same website when buying the item I’ve never had to buy custom charges before as I’ve never had this issue. Until wanting this product, I’m just worried as I don’t know if you get emails or links notifying you to pay UPS shipping and custom fee charges.

I just ordered the V2 this Wednesday and I must say that I agree with you, the purchasing part is not very clear, even confusing... too bad for such a good product, because really in terms of ergonomics, grip in hand, it's truly one of the best on the market.
It’s not at all self explanatory especially when you’re selling very expensive equipment. If you want to sell a premium product you need to provide a premium experience.
Incase they never come back, I’ve always wanted a fanatic rig and I finally got one last week and was delivered on time and Im happy to own this part of sim racing history
I did 🙋♂! Their products speak for themselves. I'm new to the Sim world & haven't entered it in its entirety as yet but after a few months of research and watching several videos from varying SIM channels It's fair to say that I believe Fanatec to be a far superior choice for someone who also wants console support. In addition to that, Their customer support so far has been very good & their Delivery time from order to delivery only took 3 business days to arrive. That being said, for those only on PC then yes there are "Better" options for the comparable price point. You're not going to suddenly lose console support for products that are already released with support. The worst that can happen is they close down and you won't be able to buy more products for your setup. God forbid! That being said Fanatec > Moza. Thrustmaster isn't even in the conversation. Then Logitech... I can't see a future with accessories there. Moza however with their new FFB update that mimmicks Fanatec will definitely continue to solidify its Worthiness as a Good base to own. (Key word here, Mozza FFB Update that Mimmicks Fanatec.) If that isn't enough to show their quality & dominance then 🤷🏽♂🤷🏽♂
@@brad.979. The order arrived before time itself. Whoever bought Fanatec in the future also will / did develop a quantum device that moves your order through time itself, in fact, earlier than the very _concept_ of time is quite possible.
I love my Fanatec wheel, but the ordering process wasn't great. The worst bit was after the purchase. I spent a month wondering if I'd been scammed. From memory, my order details on the site seemed to indicate that I'd have to wait for DHL to tell me about the delivery process/dates. Then I got stung for import tax which I was expecting, but still hurt. Wheel is superb though
As a Product Manager I couldn’t agree with you more. In fact I am just sorry I didn’t make this video myself! I bought my first Fanatec system earlier this year and it’s definitely very confusing for new customers. Reminds me of the Steve Jobs story, Steve was an extremely talented Product Guy but perhaps not the best CEO. Fanatec needs a good Product Management team to map out the Customer Journey, customers shouldn’t have to research “how to buy” the product, especially the Quick Release systems (very convoluted) . Great video and good job.
I am an owner of a DD extreme, shifter, handbrake, and V3 pedals. Buying and receiving not a problem. Approx 10 days goods received. Then again, within EU. Now support....hahaha My(3 month old) DD extreme at the end of July went bad. I opened a support ticket and am still waiting for a reply ...
when i purchased all of my things i purchased around the podium wheel base as i planned to buy that later this year. i will have to say when i went to buy everything on fanatec i had to look up and research every piece of equipment to ensure i was buying compatible components such as quick release, wheels, and driving base. This process took me days to ensure I was understanding everything correctly and not wasting 100s of dollars and lots of time exchanging parts/components after realizing they are wrong. this needs to be way more consumer friendly. I think they should just do buying steps and sort compatible equipment as you go through your buying experience. have a ready to go kit for various models (as they do. but include quick releases.) For god sakes make a basic pedal set with a clutch in your kits or include the club pedals or premium pedals with WAY more ready to go kits or offer an upgrade option for pedals on those kits. then have a build your own kit option. In build your own kit you begin by selecting the wheel base, then do you want a quick release or not, explain differences of those or label them as carbon finish, metal, and plastic (makes it simple), then select your wheel(s) of choice, then your pedals. The last step is the additional pieces (kill switch, handbrake, mounts [based on wheel base model], shifter knobs, sim rig, etc. Then that way it carries the customer through the right steps to get everything they need to assemble their desired kit on day 1 and puts all the products in front of the customer to maybe get easier sales on items the customer didnt already know they wanted or realize they feel they need. If someone does not want a part on a particular step they can skip it.
Hit the nail on the head. I have been buying all of the wheels because I like the product but the purchasing experience is terrible! For example, I ordered the the leather Porsche wheel last. Alcantara wheel shows up. Instead of even attempting to deal with their customer service I just ordered the leather rim by itself and prayed the right one showed up. I can’t believe I’m saying this but I honestly think Fanatec is worse than the airlines in the US! I ordered a few more power bricks too in case I hit the surge protector’s on/off button on accident or the power goes out. In my experience you must unplug the power supply for 24 hours or throw it in your freezer for about 30 minutes and good as new. Naturally I can’t find these for sale on Fanatec’s website. Not fun when you have actually professional drivers at your house or an event messing around!
Yeah I’ve noticed that your cart gets mixed up and you have random stuff you didn’t add or they added a different qr to your wheel than what you originally selected. And can also say for a first time buyer with fanatec I was hella confused on what to add and purchase, had to watch several videos just to figure that out. Upside though, my entire order came in together in 6 days so the shipping wasn’t all that bad and had updates as well. The product is fantastic and haven’t had any issues so far and haven’t had to contact customer service yet, but I’m also not looking forward to it if I do end up having issues. I just hope they get everything figured out because I know fanatec can be great.
the deliveries in separate boxes, and getting charged for each in uk, is just IDIOTIC ! the ammount of money I lost JUST for taking their deliveries and sending/accepting stuff from RMA is just mind bending... prob close to what I spent on their equipment !
Totally agree with what your saying. When I ordered mine, I wanted a loadcell and a qr1 proper (not lite), and it was a janky experience. Plus, the import duty side of things I felt was pretty misleading. they can definitely improve, just by using some common sense.
The website is awful. The ready to race bundles are cheaper than if you put the same products in the cart. I also had the glitch where it would put multiple of the same products going from cart to checkout. Also the discounts for the bundles would randomly change the discount value. I was debating pulling the trigger on the csl mclaren bundle until today i had another discount glitch which knocked the price of the bundle down to $250. Obviously i purchased so we will see if i get it.
Nothing Fanatec do right now is drawing me away from the Logitec G-Pro - I'm still a few months away from pulling the trigger, and I'm sorry to say this, but I don't think things will improve enough to change my leanings in that time. (I play, on PS5 exclusively so I'm not interested in a Moza with an adaptor)
Annoyingly is the GT DD Extreme shipping with the QR 2 lite but if you want to get a second wheel you need to get an entire regular QR2 or higher for using the nm levels that the base was designed for so it is like an extra few hundred dollars just to get a 2nd wheel when it really wouldn't have cost them much to just give a regular base and encourage return shoppers for 2nd and 3rd wheels.
I have just ordered my McLaren GT3 wheel after eventually working out the ordering process. Should receive it within 7 to 10 days. Let’s see how long it actually takes. My DD pro should have been 7 to 10 days. Actually took 6 weeks and no mater how many emails I sent Fanatec never responded. So I had to wait with fingers crossed that it would turn up.
Hopefully, they're watching your critiques of their business model and will make the changes needed. The former CEO (TJ) unfortunately lacked the competence and vision to lead the company thru what has become an incredibly competitive environment. Thankfully we consumers have many more options now. I think many of us are willing to pay a bit more for hardware that we know will be reliable and well supported should issues arise. Throw in a logical and simplified buying process and I'm in!
I found the website very confusing to begin with but over time it all started to make sense. The thing is a website to buy products shouldn't have a steep learning curve.
I was the beginner you mention. Yes, they have a lot of products, but what’s the….. how hard is to learn what they are ? Took me 5 mins to understand their entire stuff. I bought what I needed, qr2, load cell, pedals, wheel, base. Didn’t find the site or the products hard to understand at all. You really think people are so dumb? Also all the deliveries were perfect, I had even 5 packages at once. This video is really useless, no offence
They made a better quick release that also works for older wheels and bases, so very nice of them, but your issue is that they ask you to choose which one you want :))). Come on, man.
I also had no issues with my order. However, this video is completely on point because - especially now - new wheel bases ONLY come with a QR2 base side, and so if you are not savvy with this terminology, you're going to end up with a free QR1 wheel side that is utterly useless to you. You are not the world.
@@isitPC well....at least it's free, so no biggie, no ? My point is still valid, who buys something like that and we assume they will mount it themselves so they don't have 2 left hands, maybe assemble a seat also, will also have the curiosity to learn what QR1 is or what QR2 is and buy accordingly. Not to mention one can buy a complete set with wheel, pedals and base and those will have the same QR system. I may be not the world but I still hope and assume people can understand what QR1 and QR2 are in less then a few minutes of browsing their website. I don't see a better way for them to do this, especially when having backwards compatibility between many bases/wheels that work with QR1 and QR2. If they were not backwards compatible, I'm sure it would've been easier to order but then we'd be watching now a video that was complaining about why not older wheels don't work with QR2.... And last thing, they sell a lot of wheel bases now that come with QR1, so no, not "ONLY" with QR2. There's no "new" or "old", there's what you can buy now from them.
I live in UK and dont find it confusing. You can easily educate yourself on what the qr2 is, if you are new to sim racing, there’s a section about qr2 on Fanatec website. Brexit is not Fanatec’s fault either. Price wise, Fanatec will remove vat from the price if buying from UK which you will then have to pay via UPS website when the parcel arrives to the UK. Simple. All EU based companies do it with the VAT if you buy stuff that over £100.
Help me out guys. My DD Pro stoped working and I was thinking to buy DD Extreme for my PS5. I don't have PC and I want a wheel that is still direct drive and will not feel as a downgrade. From fanatec I need only new base and I don't want the same one because the biggest problem with it is how shaft and clamp are designed. Would love to see Moza products for PS but who knows when that will happen. So what are my other options at the moment?
sometimes is better to pick the parts yourself. There are no bundles of all combinations and if you study a bit everything they have, you can make a better "bundle" for you.
@@jstones9872 people could recommend you what to buy if you ask. If you are on the budget and not going to the most expensive stuff, I'd get a DD Pro (5/8nM, your call... I'd get the 5 and then you can buy the upgrade). Go with QR2(LITE, no need to spend more on the other versions) and a McLaren V2. You can play now on Xbox (because of the wheel) and in the future, maybe, you can play on the PS5 (because of the base). CSL cheapest pedals are also good enough. What do you play ? AC? ACC? iRacing ? If you play just Forza on Xbox, think about a PS5 for GT7, it's excelent for the wheel.
They better make a way to pay with cash and not card cause if you pay with car you may waste your money and then the order will not come for a very long time.
Just sell accessories in retail stores in EU and US or just bundle them with wheel base or wheel rims. In most of EU we got package delivery boxes in every street, so you don’t have to take day off work and got 48hr to pick it up. Issue with QR done. Yeah the website needs simplifying and more descriptive information regarding QR fitting which base. In EU tax not being included in final price is actually against law. Better bundles, instead of gate keeping with QR included for free.
This business model of shutting out local retailers is a really shitty experience for customers who are forced to buy direct from source, usually from abroad, unless you're in the EU. Buying Fanatec products would be so much better if they had UK retail outlets, even just ONE UK outlet. None of this shipping and sales tax BS.
Perfect timing for this video I was just about to buy a fanatec setup to replace my logitec 923 today and I had to backout from the purchase and do some research. I’m using an xbox series X for now but will be moving to PC later this year. I wanted the GT3 Porsche wheel but it comes as a bundle but was confused as to what I was I was buying and what would work for xbox now bit PC later.
Yes, and I never felt the site complicated with orders. Had more confusion ordering audio mixers or other stage equipment. This feels like a bit added drama concerning the website. ;)
@@Kirethdo you think it's a risky time to buy fanatec? Either because of product support disappearing or literally they will fold and you don't get your order, you seem to be the man in the know, I fancy the dd+ for formula racing
I love fanatec but this is the reason I baught all my fanatec products second hand on eBay that was my dd pro & boost kit plus 3 wheels all second hand also as I’m in uk I was not paying 100 pound plus import tax that is absolutely ludicrous and is the reason there likely are having issues as why would anyone want to pay over hundred pound more than there product bad business decisions they should have sold through Amazon world wide they would import and all they had to do was put up price a little more which I would have paid … sell and make easily assessable common sense really . That’s what’s hurt them instead people like me went second hand no import cost and they lost my sale
Currently having this issue myself, I ordered the podium button module endurance which means I need the podium hub, I cant buy the hub because the QR1 is sold out and I have no way of ordering it without it. I already have a QR1 handy and just need the hub :/ trying to work with their support staff now but so far have only gotten a stock form reply
literally just sounds like the customer didn't do enough research the only good points you had was on the lack of a hyperlink and the taxes bit being unclear
I am waiting for a PlayStation gt7 dd pro 8nm fanatec bundle, but I have ordered via sim demon uk, so no postage and all the fees inc in the price. So prices work out roughly the same without the worry of taxes other charges and delivery charges from fanatec.
I will agree that some of the UI isn’t seamless or buggy, but holy moly guacamole… it is far from rocket science to place an order. Also you can’t be serious about expecting a full description for each QR in the add-in screen midway to adding an item to your cart. They literally have a dedicated QR2 tab in their menu that describes the differences between all their different QR’s
I think anyone that is buying any sim wheel would have done their research beforehand and would already know what it is that they need to purchase. Not everything has to be handed on a silver platter. If the product is good, and people are doing their due diligence, I see no issue with the way the site is set up. There’s whole UA-cam channels dedicated to just going into the product nuances and what is compatible with what. I also understand that Fanatec is going through it right now financially, but I don’t see that as a reason to nitpick everything that they do. And finally, if someone does have all those issues with them, they can take their purchase elsewhere. That will definitely make them pay attention to what is going on with their services.
I don't get you Kireth! Are you a prophet of chaos now? Are you doing this just to get views? You made a video the other day saying Fanatec was going bankrupt, which made us understand that it wouldn't be safe to buy from them in a little while. And now you are buying from them yourself?
Bro, do you really delete comments with tips for getting Fanatec stuff cheaper, much cheaper ?! Even though you are trying to criticize Fanatec here in the video, yet you are getting paid by Fanatec. Shame on you
Crazy how much you lie in this post. I'm guessing you linked somewhere so youtube deleted it, and I haven't been paid by fanatec (?!) Sort yourself out lad 👍
@@KirethThere had been two comments from me with my experience of buying 500% cheaper QR2 Pro. Why is this being deleted by UA-cam! It's only on your channel, funny... Apparently UA-cam doesn't know that I spent over €4.5k at Fanatec. I am allowed to do that 😂
Sorry but first of all, when I am buying something expensive, I will inform myself about the product. The same as buying a car for instance. Don't you want to inform yourself beforehand whether it's automatic or manual gearbox? Or even what is the difference? Brexit is not Fanatec's fault. It's not a big corporation such as Amazon and be glad that they still sell their products to the UK. There are many European companies that no longer sell to the UK because of Brexit. What a nonsense video
Wrong. I’m 30 and went to buy my first sim equipment from Fanatec but was put off by the absolute jankiness of the website. I’ve been following sim racing for years now and I still don’t know the difference between all the QR1/QR2. Also when buying something expensive I expect a professional buying experience. Fanatec has partnerships with NASCAR, F1, BMW, Porsche and Ford. Yet they can’t manage to build a website?
I feel like you wrote this just to criticize Kireth and that was your goal, but you did this before even reaching the 4 minute mark of the video where he gives you a perfect example of how you are hindered _when you try to inform yourself_ as a consumer! The multiple QR and/or adapters that are/aren’t available on some/all hubs may or may not work with certain bases. WTH? No, that is weak. Kireth is right on the money here. He’s spent a good amount of cash on these things and I am considering it myself as well but this site is klugey at best.

agreed. that being said, there is room for improvement as with everything.
It’s spelled ‘their’ not ‘there’. Learn to spell bud
@MCfitnessS YES SIR GRAMMAR NAZI
Why would anyone buy their equipment before Fanatec is sold and stable?
People are addicted to consumerism 🧐
i did and the order arrived before time
Incase they never come back, I’ve always wanted a fanatic rig and I finally got one last week and was delivered on time and Im happy to own this part of sim racing history
I bought several item from Fanatec in the last 1,5 months and had ZERO issues and costumer support was fast and efficient.
That's why I chose Moza. It was too confusing at Fanatec.
Thanks for all your input.
Now support....hahaha
My(3 month old) DD extreme at the end of July went bad.
100%
Their site is tailored to experienced folks that already know the jargon and model names.
Over 3 months, still no customer support for a broken DD+ on arrival = That is what Fanatec should fix. They are an absolute disgrace.
Yeah this is the real issue. After a troubling ordering/shipping experience, the real nightmare begins. Never again with this overrated company.
THE QR PROBLEM MADE ME GET MOZA r9 instead. Thanks Fanatec for helping me make the better choice on accident.
Hope you enjoy it!
The thing is a website to buy products shouldn't have a steep learning curve.
with all of the current issues with the company, I've given up on them. Moza looks pretty good.
Their downfall was them not using distributers
that's also their strongsuits... more profits
@@BjornFSE they have no profits. That's what landed them in this mess in the first place.
I had to coach my mate through the purchase of his fanatec equipment as he was so confused
as a console user i would only by a bundle.
sometimes is better to pick the parts yourself. There are no bundles of all combinations and if you study a bit everything they have, you can make a better "bundle" for you.
@@crocodiluQ2 yea but first wheel for Xbox not comfortable picking components
I never have problems ordering from them. I get everything within a week. Then again, I know to they operate and know what to order and when.
Website is an easy fix too
The points are valid but if you're spending that kind of money you're probably already researching everything anyway.
Yes i tried to buy my first SIM FANATEC and all is VERY CONFUSSSSING !!!!!!
Dang
Is it worth buying fanatec ? Beause I'm planing for buying gt dd pro 5nm
Yeah its kept me away from Fanatec..Thrustmaster way easier to deal with..local shop round the corner alwayz better...thanks Kireth
Perfect timing for this video
I was just about to buy a fanatec setup to replace my logitec 923 today and I had to backout from the purchase and do some research. I’m using an xbox series X for now but will be moving to PC later this year. I wanted the GT3 Porsche wheel but it comes as a bundle but was confused as to what I was I was buying and what would work for xbox now bit PC later.
Is Fanatec still in business then?
Yes, and I never felt the site complicated with orders. Had more confusion ordering audio mixers or other stage equipment. This feels like a bit added drama concerning the website. ;)
Yes they are trading in insolvency looking for a buyer ASAP
I bought a CS+ from them last week and got it in 3 business days. Yes they are.
@@Kirethdo you think it's a risky time to buy fanatec? Either because of product support disappearing or literally they will fold and you don't get your order, you seem to be the man in the know, I fancy the dd+ for formula racing
Buy Thrustmaster SF1000 wheel with Chrono paddles!
Much better.
It seems they are engineers and that is why you don’t let engineers do certain things.
Give it to retailers. Fanatec are incompetent and cant organise a piss up in a brewery.
Perfect example why I didn't get fanatec and got simagic
Currently having this issue myself, I ordered the podium button module endurance which means I need the podium hub, I cant buy the hub because the QR1 is sold out and I have no way of ordering it without it. I already have a QR1 handy and just need the hub :/ trying to work with their support staff now but so far have only gotten a stock form reply
Qr1 was free with the wheel right?
116gbp for brexit tax when buying the Gran Turismo DD Pro
literally just sounds like the customer didn't do enough research the only good points you had was on the lack of a hyperlink and the taxes bit being unclear
I just want a reasonably priced direct drive wheel for the ps5 that will be delivered within a week.
I am waiting for a PlayStation gt7 dd pro 8nm fanatec bundle, but I have ordered via sim demon uk, so no postage and all the fees inc in the price. So prices work out roughly the same without the worry of taxes other charges and delivery charges from fanatec.
Just went through this exact thing! Plus fed ex is terrible
They should get rid of the lite QR
I will agree that some of the UI isn’t seamless or buggy, but holy moly guacamole… it is far from rocket science to place an order. Also you can’t be serious about expecting a full description for each QR in the add-in screen midway to adding an item to your cart. They literally have a dedicated QR2 tab in their menu that describes the differences between all their different QR’s
I will say if you plan on sending a few hundred dollars you should do plenty of research prior to purchasing the product.
4:04 there's not even code for links in that section in inspect element so they didn't even try
I cringe every time I see this guy pop up on my timeline I had a great experience buying my DD2 etc
I'm guessing you linked somewhere so youtube deleted it, and I haven't been paid by fanatec (?!)
Sort yourself out lad 👍
@@KirethThere had been two comments from me with my experience of buying 500% cheaper QR2 Pro. Why is this being deleted by UA-cam! It's only on your channel, funny...
Apparently UA-cam doesn't know that I spent over €4.5k at Fanatec. I am allowed to do that 😂
They have always been overpriced. Nothing confusing about it.
Kireth bringing the absolute common sense to fanatec.. !! :oncoming_fist: :oncoming_fist: :oncoming_fist: :oncoming_fist:
