I ordered a CS DD+ to replace my CSL DD 8Nm. Was utterly shafted by Fanatec, refunded, lost about 100 euros in the currency conversion, at the loss and ordered an Asetek Invicta + round wheel. Absolutely amazing difference, and I can confirm all you are saying about the CSL DD having tested it now after using my Invicta base for a while. It just feels like there is something missing there. Almost 3 months after purchase, I am again going through their RMA procedure. Each email reply from Fanatec support takes between 2 & 3 weeks. Things are not improving, and it is beyond frustrating. But as things stand, I could not recommend anyone starting out to use Fanatec.
Thanks, that was what I was hoping for because of that very reason. Fanatec support collected it and advised it would be shipped to their UK service centre for a repair. The next info I got was that a new unit had been sent out from Germany. I paid effectively 200 for my csl dd last year. Couldn't convince myself to spend 4x on cs dd. It's my first sim racing set and I have been able to do maybe 10 hours on it in a year. If CS DD gets a good deal I might upgrade.
Thanks for that. I'm in Northern Ireland and Fanatec's service over the phone, email and delivery has been great, several times. I said to them even with all the new companies I was going to stick with them, which I am doing. I spend my money on home energy 'self catering' nowadays with Virpil flight joysticks and WinWing Skywalker pedals to last me for many years. I would like to change to Clubsport but I won't use the terms upgrade or invest. We just want the next new thing, a change for changes sake. I started in the mid 90s with a Thrustmaster Formula T1. In the early 2000s, life took over and I had about a 20 year hiatus. About 3 years ago I wanted to get back into it, and Fanatec was THE name being thrown around, and I just about bought a used CSL 1.0 or 2.0, but ended up buying a used Thrustmaster T309RS GT with T3PA-Pro pedals. Then I started seeing all the Fanatec posts about issues with customer service, shipping, broken QRs, etc. I unfortunately don't have a lot of time to put into my rig (which is a complete TM ecosystem.now), and I keep saying if one of our kids move out and I can use a dedicated room, I would have a full motion, with, probably a Moza DD setup, as I just don't have faith that Fanatec will survive the corporate side, even if it is sold to Corsair.
Hi Danny got the Asetek la prime abd had a problem with it cutting on . Set an email to them 1 day later was asked to send file log 1 day later they are sending me a new power supply 3 days later in me house done 5 days done .
I had coil whine on my gt dd pro when I got it in Spring 2022. On the fanatec forums there was a firmware for the motor I was able to apply that fixed the issue. Current firmware still hasn’t fixed the whine so I keep my motor on the older version.
Personally I believe there's more and smoother FFB detail, and a significantly more responsive than the DD1 & GT DD Pro whilst catching slides, possibly due to the marketed class leading slew rate or the better level of FFB detail? Only issues I had was due to earlier firmware causing disconnections, but now been resolved with driver 457. Only major gripe till a newer driver is released to resolve, is with tge Rally Module, numerous differing unique issues per game, and with the Endurance Module X or □ issues per game. Hopefully will be resolved soon, despite known issue to be resolved after 6 months!
Well done Danny. Fanatec has been a founding player in the golal phenom that SR has become, However, the protracted, torturous decline of Fanatec's CS and warranty service has cost the brand dearly. As a committed Fanatec ecosystem adherent, I genuinely hope Corsair/Fanatec proves successful in continuing and building upon the foundation Fanatec has laid.
I have been using a thrustamster t248 for about 2 years. I want to make the step up to direct drive and get a really good base so there is no need to upgrade anything in the future. I was looking at the clubsport dd but now you said that i should get the asetek la prima 😭😭 i would rather go with fanatec as they have so much history tbh
Sorry to correct you but your info about the QR2 lite limiting the use of high torque on the Clubsport DD or DD+ is incorrect. It will only limit the use of high torque on the Podium bases. Cheers
You're totally welcome, I encourage questioning (as it's usually when I find out I'm wrong about something) but if that is indeed true then Fanatec's own info needs to be updated. Fanatec's QR2 Lite page doesn't say anything about it, but the Clubsport DD page says, in the Special Notes, "Steering Wheels fitted with QR1 Lite Wheel-Side or QR2 Lite Wheel-Side will be limited to 8 Nm torque." Momorious also commented this 6 months ago, so I initially wondered if this info is outdated but the official site also maintains it - www.reddit.com/r/Fanatec/comments/186tpvw/comment/kbanbf8/? For the record I totally believe the QR2 can happily handle 12nm if it was unlocked, but they probably have no way to differentiate whether a QR1 Lite or QR2 Lite is attached so they just have to limit all lites to 8nm for now.
I live in Germany, I orderd a CS dd and V3 Pedals two Saturdays ago and recieved them on the following Wednesday. Can´t say anything about coil whine, because I haven´t turned it on yet. Instead, I´m still waiting for my GT Omega rig to arrive, which I ordered on the same day and is being shipped from Glasgow, UPS keeps delaying the delivery, grr.
I'm not such a serious sim racer that I could justify the cost of upgrading from a CSL DD. I do think I might benefit from upgrading to the QR2 though. If I had the readies to buy the Clubsport DD I would also have to buy the wheel side QR2. Combined that would be €900. But Fanatec are doing a bundle that includes the Pro QR2 and the ClubSport F1 Esports V2 Steering Wheel for the same price! I really don't need, but I really want. Come on Euromillions!
I had my csl dd clip for the 1st time yesterday on Imola, in the GT2 Ferrari on ACC. I have 8nm and gain set in game to 70% and still had it go completely limp for a moment. Never understood what clipping felt like before it happened yesterday. I do think 12nm is what I keed for AC and ACC. Dont need more. In fact I probably only need 10nm of it
My Black Friday purchase did takes months to receive.. 👎 I ordered my DD+ on a Sunday. It was at delivered on Wednesday the same week 2.5 business days in The Netherlands.👍
Definitely QR1 - the CSL Elite wheelbase cannot support QR2 so your existing wheels will need upgrading with QR2 'Wheel Side' attachments. The QR1 is round, whereas the QR2 is more of a square or box.
1:41 wait, WTF - I must have missed this one, LOL. Anyway regarding coil whine - it's normal and harmless, and I don't even find it irritating in the slightest, but then again I grew up with CRT televisions and monitors, which could hiss and buzz with high frequencies, and I was well into my thirties before LCD displays became the norm. In fact I would go as far to say that those Fanatec owners complaining and returning their units because of it are very much part of the issue with the long RMA times.
Nope, it will work on PC without any trouble, and the bundles already include everything necessary. If you are planning to use it on a desk then you'll need to add a table clamp as the CSL DD doesn't come with anything to clamp it to a desk, but if you're using it on a wheel stand or cockpit then you don't need it. If you need a wheelstand or cockpit then GT Omega are my favourite and are also on the cheaper side, you'll find a link to them in the video description along with a discount code.
Why is no one talking about Fanatec's FB status 2 days ago? It said something like "we need to talk..." I definitely know others saw it because it had a few comments before they took it down moments later. Did anyone screenshot or know what they mean?
I have coil whine on the Moza R12. It is barely audible at my normal racing positioin but when I lean over the base, it is audible. Sounds about as bad as rustling leaves in the wind. I got used to it pretty quickly and in a race I cant hear it. I also got some small USB fans and they are way louder than the whine when running. So, meh :)
If you're in the UK, I'd be telling you about a month. I literally just received a parcel yesterday which took 17 business days to get to me, as described in the video, that's not far off a full month
US deliveries seem to be MUCH quicker based on what I’ve seen on Reddit. Issue seems to be with European warehouse distribution only. It took about 14 days for my loadcell pedal to arrive last month (UK delivery)
My experience? I ordered in January. It's now the end of May and I haven't even received a shipping confirmation. Fanatec "accidentally" sold more product than they had in stock. and I've been on the receiving end of that incompetence. Avoid at all costs. I am in the US by the way. I will find out on May 31st whether they're going to be shipping me anything or if I've got to send another nastygram.
Fanatec needs to release some better pedals. That would be a huge boost for them. I’m a fanatec base and wheel guy but I upgraded pedals from the V3 and will not go back until they release some excellent pedals. They are WAY behind other brands.

I did order the f1 bundle yesterday.... fingers crossed when it will be delivered in the Netherlands. When ordering the site did state 4-7 business days..... Lets see
I got the f1 bundle a month ago, also in the Netherlands, got to me in 10 days. The 4-7 days is for when they start the shipping process, which for me was on the 7th day. Took a few days more because i ordered it on saturday. One thing that i can say is that i love it and for me it was a huge upgrade from the CSL DD 8NM! Have fun when yours gets to you!
@@delil1985 Thnx, for me it is an upgrade from a thrustmaser TX so it should be a massive world of difference.
Die DD+ is een monster, komend van een DD Pro..in gewicht en FFB. Blij mee, ondanks alleen Ps5 gebruiker
I'm new to all this. I will take your recommendation and go with Asetek La Prima.
Watch my review on the La Prima first, there's deffo things to know!
Read the comment 2 below yours about problems lol
I paid effectively 200 for my csl dd last year. Couldn't convince myself to spend 4x on cs dd. It's my first sim racing set and I have been able to do maybe 10 hours on it in a year. If CS DD gets a good deal I might upgrade.
Yeah thats my problem. It was 640aud for the csl dd and 60aid for the 8nm psu.
Double the price and double the holding torque
Thanks for that. I'm in Northern Ireland and Fanatec's service over the phone, email and delivery has been great, several times. I said to them even with all the new companies I was going to stick with them, which I am doing. I spend my money on home energy 'self catering' nowadays with Virpil flight joysticks and WinWing Skywalker pedals to last me for many years. I would like to change to Clubsport but I won't use the terms upgrade or invest. We just want the next new thing, a change for changes sake. Are things so much better or is it really just a new feeling? Lump of butter person, try guessing the winners to bet on in a sport/event you know nothing about - you might find you predict the winners rather well. For every negative there is a positive. Cool article. I liked your style.
I just got the 15mn unit, having a hard time getting it to feel rigth, I'm a sucker who always used other peoples settings but no one is releasing base line settings for the clubsport dd's.
Upgraded my gt dd pro 8nm to cs dd +. Love it so far.
I had mild coil whine but it’s been repaired. Took around 20 days in total.
In regards orders I just ordered a qr2 pro took 8 working days to receive In Ireland.
Is there a big difference between both of them?
@@cocodabricot3251yes absolutely. It’s not just the nm it’s just more torque feels way better. The dd pro feels numb on the straights. This is more connected.
do you have to pay import fees or transaction fees etc? Can you put an order in for me any way and I come grab it? lol might save me some money and get to go to ireland
I may jump out of GT7 just for their system... Worth it just to have more options too
I had coil whine on my gt dd pro when I got it in Spring 2022. On the fanatec forums there was a firmware for the motor I was able to apply that fixed the issue. Current firmware still hasn’t fixed the whine so I keep my motor on the older version.
Good and honest video, much appriciated.
What about going from a DD1 to cs dd+?
I barely use 60% of ffb in linear mode (6nm)...
Very normal, with time u might increase it a little. Nobody runs their bases at 100% because of clipping.
@@filipivan5125 I've been using my wheelbase for like 2 years at this point.
i jumped from t300rs gt to podium dd2 that jump was huuuge :P
Sorry to correct you but your info about the QR2 lite limiting the use of high torque on the Clubsport DD or DD+ is incorrect. It will only limit the use of high torque on the Podium bases.
Cheers
I believe it limits it to only 8nm. Source- their site.
You're totally welcome, I encourage questioning (as it's usually when I find out I'm wrong about something) but if that is indeed true then Fanatec's own info needs to be updated.
Fanatec's QR2 Lite page doesn't say anything about it, but the Clubsport DD page says, in the Special Notes, "Steering Wheels fitted with QR1 Lite Wheel-Side or QR2 Lite Wheel-Side will be limited to 8 Nm torque."
Momorious also commented this 6 months ago, so I initially wondered if this info is outdated but the official site also maintains it - www.reddit.com/r/Fanatec/comments/186tpvw/comment/kbanbf8/?
For the record I totally believe the QR2 can happily handle 12nm if it was unlocked, but they probably have no way to differentiate whether a QR1 Lite or QR2 Lite is attached so they just have to limit all lites to 8nm for now.
I think you're wrong, with the exception of the dd+ extreme GT bundle
I live in Germany, I orderd a CS dd and V3 Pedals two Saturdays ago and recieved them on the following Wednesday. Can´t say anything about coil whine, because I haven´t turned it on yet. Instead, I´m still waiting for my GT Omega rig to arrive, which I ordered on the same day and is being shipped from Glasgow, UPS keeps delaying the delivery, grr.
how many inch is your tv?
how is it compare to r12 ?
Boosted said it feels more like the R16 in smoothness and torque than the R12.
The R12 is about 9nm of holding torque I believe
@@GregoryShtevensh thx
I ordered my DD+ on a Sunday. It was at delivered on Wednesday the same week 2.5 business days in The Netherlands.👍
is QR1 what will be on my 2 wheels that go on my csl elite? the have pins.
Definitely QR1 - the CSL Elite wheelbase cannot support QR2 so your existing wheels will need upgrading with QR2 'Wheel Side' attachments. The QR1 is round, whereas the QR2 is more of a square or box.
La Prima does not support console. You also left out the Logitech G Pro which is another wheel base in that range.
I also grew up with CRT etc and id return it too why would i want that if its annoying when most other devices dont have it nowadays.
Can you use your old CSL DD Pedals with the Clubsport or do you need to buy new ones?
You can use whatever pedals you got with the CSL DD.
This is an excellent video!
*So the CSDD you’re using now still has coil whine?
what is your monitor modal?
What is your monitor model?
please help
i am thinking of getting the csl dd bundle, do i need to add anything else into my cart as i will be racing on pc? thank
Add a loadcell brake pedal? I did
What monitor is mounted your rig ?
That's a Samsung odyssey G5 1
34" 1000R
Fanatec DD+took so long I cancelled my order and went SIMAGIC ALPHA + GT NEO…..
I sold my original csl 8nm DD AND then fanatec went downhill
Why is no one talking about Fanatec's FB status 2 days ago? It said something like "we need to talk..." I definitely know others saw it because it had a few comments before they took it down moments later. Did anyone screenshot or know what they mean?
I have coil whine on the Moza R12. It is barely audible at my normal racing positioin but when I lean over the base, it is audible. Sounds about as bad as rustling leaves in the wind. I got used to it pretty quickly and in a race I cant hear it. I also got some small USB fans and they are way louder than the whine when running. So, meh :)
Danny, you never mentioned the biscuit holders 😅
so i bought the csl dd just recently along with the mclaren gt3 wheel and the csl pedals, how long would shipping be if it is slow right now?
If you're in the UK, I'd be telling you about a month. I literally just received a parcel yesterday which took 17 business days to get to me, as described in the video, that's not far off a full month
dang thats quite a while, and i would imagine it would be longer for the U.S. if they are based in the UK, as im in the U.S.
US deliveries seem to be MUCH quicker based on what I’ve seen on Reddit. Issue seems to be with European warehouse distribution only.
It took about 14 days for my loadcell pedal to arrive last month (UK delivery)
ok i hope its quicker, and that sucks how long it takes
My experience? I ordered in January. It's now the end of May and I haven't even received a shipping confirmation. Fanatec "accidentally" sold more product than they had in stock. and I've been on the receiving end of that incompetence. Avoid at all costs. I am in the US by the way.
I will find out on May 31st whether they're going to be shipping me anything or if I've got to send another nastygram.
I want asetek, but my main game is gt7 so..
Strange though, no one I know, run there more than 6 to 8nm. Guys using the podium don't even run close to max torque values.
I heard that higher nm is unrealistic. Newer cars have power steering and the older vitage models would need higher nm for realism.
Fanatec needs to release some better pedals. That would be a huge boost for them.
I’m a fanatec base and wheel guy but I upgraded pedals from the V3 and will not go back until they release some excellent pedals. They are WAY behind other brands.
They are behind in every category
Its very simple right now.
Fanatec = avoid until acquisition is complete.
went from cs DD 8nm had terrible experience and overall poor build quality to simagic alpha night and day difference
Danny I know u wanna send me a csl dd 🎉
Coil wine caused by your setup
my step up was from nothing to g29 hahahah
Fanatec conquer the world
Just go Moza or La Prima.
Why would anyone in there right frame mind buy fanatec equipment there basically shut down😮👏👏
Well I guess I have noodle arms , for the better I say.
ofc no! :D its not even worth upgrading from csl ELITE to DD ! #fact long time proven by me. not even using it at ffb 10 anymore ! so surely DD is not needed for anyone.. if thats for the strenght of the engine..
Who's buying Fanatec in 2024? 🤢
Me 😂
Me!!!! 3 Orders and every order was fast delivered
Shipping isn't the problem, it's the after sales support. Just hope you never have any issues with it.
@@brentonedwards yeah, I heard a lot of stories unfortunately, but inside EU everything seems to work perfectly. I wish Fanatec will fix their support outside UE as well as there’s way too many SimRacing colleagues struggling with Fanatec… I took the risk and we will see what future brings ;)
@20Boyka good luck, fanatec is a sinking ship!!
I have multiple fanatec wheelbases and rims, gonna sell and get something else from a better company, haven't had a firmware or driver update in AGES!
Lol no purchase of fanatec is worth it.
