You’re the madman, having a podium base on the Playseat challenge haha! I have the PS challenge as well for many years with a Logi G29. Now I upgraded to the CSL DD. I have the 8Nm version and I feel it’s the absolute limit for the PS challenge. And I purchased a 3d printed full reinforcement kit for the playseat to make it more rigid to hold the forces of the 8Nm DD. and then I see you with a podium. Hats off to you sir!
haha yeah a little crazy, didn’t realize how much the DD1 weighed when i got it. it is a bit shaky under force feedback but there haven’t been any issues. after posting this video i’m getting peer pressured into getting a new chair lol
IMO, the best real entry level package is the Moza R3. Comes in around $399.99 or less when on sale. It punches way above its weight. Lot more metal and weight to it than the Logitech or Thrustmaster offerings. Nice software too. Works on PC and Xbox. Also on PS5 with adapter. The great thing about Moza is that any Moza wheel is interchangeable with any Moza wheel base using their quick release system. So upgrading is not a dead end. That's a win. I know other high end systems are interchangeable, but we are talking entry level.
Fanatec does offer great realism. If you ordered a real race car you’d probably get it in about the same time frame as a Fanatec setup. Maybe even faster 😂
Same here, I started my sim-racing journey from Logitech G923 on PS5. After 1 year, I upgraded to Fanatec GT DD Pro base, Clubsport V2.5 wheel and CSL pedal with Load cell brake. I will go for the CSL pedal because it can take out the clutch. I only play F1 games; the clutch is useless for me.
My first wheel was the Logitech Driving Pro. Then a G27/29 and now a Logitech G Pro. Never had any issues with Logitech. My first driving setup was made from an old exercise machine and plywood. (2005). Now I have a GT Omega Art Cockpit. G Pro wheel/pedals, Varjo Aero VR hmd. Sim racing is awesome. In VR, its on another level. Great video. We all start somewhere. Just start. See you on track. :)
Consider moza it’s comparable to fanatec without the lower quality quick release. I got the r12 and a full setup(shifter and handbrake with lc pedals) for about 1250
You missed Moza.. I'm loving my Moza r5 bundle. Neck in neck with Fanatec. And lots of reviewers were complaining about the brake pedal.. it seems like they listened and upgraded the pedals. Also, I wouldn't touch g920 and other logitechs or thrustmaster.. maybe check out Cammus c5? Which is a cheap direct drive wheel. I started with g920, I kept losing, I returned it and upgraded to Moza r5.. instant upgrade. No longer am I not sure what is the wheelbase vs what's being simulated allowing me to 'feel the car' and know if I'm understeering or oversteering around turns. Massive difference. You can get their with g920 as you can get there and compete with visual alone but night and day difference and worth the upgrade to go with direct drive.
I remember when I bought my first set-up for Sim racing, and I still have it still this day, with some upgrades needed of course but after 5 years now of use, still works like a champ. Overall mines cost over 1000 dollars.
This is just my opinion but getting a good pedal set is more important than getting high end wheelbase, a lot of people tend to over look the pedals when they are getting into sim racing. Also the rigs arent really mentioned in this video even though those are quite big part of the cost in sim racing and they will make the experience a lot better and basically almost required with any sort of direct drive wheelbase, maybe not with the 5nm bases but anything higher pretty much.
if you're on the PC... don't do fanatec to you... There are now better ones from moza asetek etc In addition, fanatec's ecosystem is very expensive to expand if, for example, you don't want a wheel from fanatec.
Interesting you failed to mention Simucube, Simagic and Asetek, despite those brands possessing superior build quality and performance to anything Fanatec offers. Not to mention Fanatec's putrid RMA process and deplorable quality control/customer support. But hey, I hear you.
The problem with those brands are that they are pricey for a first sim build. The cheapest of those options are easily $1200 USD and climbs. They are quality companies, though that is reflected in the upfront cost. The price for a good starter set from Thrustmaster or Moza are about a quarter of that, though some quality issues could arise, especially with the current uncertainty around Fanatec.
Naah, entry level I'd go for the Moza r3 bundle. Or if you are PC only, the r5 bundle. Then you are in a eco system that will take you all the way to 21nm if you want to. Or go directly to one of fanatecs ready to race bundles. I guess they are one step above entry level, but they are multitudes of times better than the Logitech.
I just got into sim racing in the last year, I went between the LG and the T248 when buying my first wheel, but I ended up buying the TM 300 RS GT. I'm a big fan, and haven't had any issues yet. Even tho I upgraded the pedals to the T-LCMs I'm considering upgrading to Fanatec, just for the DD.
Thanks, dude! I have been debating getting my first setup as I have recently gotten F1 23 and GT7. This was very helpful in helping me narrow things down.
Is there an advantage of having 15nm wheelbase if you dont use Full Force Feedback? Most Reviewers Said 15nm are way too much and that they dont use 100% of Force Feedback, so is it still more realistic than other bases with less Nm?
Actually for the thrustmaster's side we got the t150 and the t300 wich are awesome wheels for the price because the t150 has a better ff than the g29/g920 and also is WAY cheaper (a used t150 can get as cheap as 60$)
You have a fantastic setup there and looks like a ton of fun. I'm an old school street racer from the 80's and used to terrorize the streets in my '78 Trans Am with my brothers in their musclecars so this is really something to be able to replicate the experience decades later in my livingroom! My setup is exactly what you said NOT to buy but I'd like to enlighten you. I'm on PC so devices are not brand dependent. My wheelbase is the Thrustmaster TS-XW RACER @ 6.2Nm and a hefty 40W dual belt drive. Having had the G29, T300 and now this TS-XW, I can certainly say that Logitech is a little cheaper than Thrustmaster but in quality and user experience contrast it's a good looking but clunky, 2.2Nm, one-trick pony. Belt drive is so much more smooth and quiet, near silent in comparison to the loud and thrashy gear drive. With the Thrustmaster ecosystem I now own six different wheels to choose from including all the newest SF1000 F1, Ferrari 488 GT, EVO 32R Round and others. The addiction is real, LOL. I find my FFB to be extremely representative and certainly strong enough for me on a heavily modded wheel stand. So even starting with the 3.8Nm TX or T300 belt drive, a beginner user would have at the very least the T3PA pedals which can be seamlessly upgraded to T-LCM Load cell pedals, as well as multiple plug n play shifter options if playing on console only which is fantastic. So simply because you haven't used Thrustmaster I thought I would offer you my two cents and for me it's the perfect middle ground between a toy and pro gear. It looks great, has a pretty good track record, available everywhere locally, multiple wheelbase options with console compatibility, ecosystem upgrades including load cell pedals, a plethora of wheel options and above all it really does a fantastic job at giving that affordable, fun, realistic sim experience for your average sim racer. One of the additional cool things about keeping in the entry/mid-range belt drive is the cost is limited which can offer the opportunity for additional immersion for us PC users such as off brand load cell pedals rather than sticking with Thrustmaster. I'm using Sim Jack Pro pedals, excellent AliExpress Sequential & H-pattern shifters and handbrake, added more like DIY racing tach, DDU, turn indicator, button boxes, ignition, pedal haptics etc. And all done with the same mid-level gear keeping it somewhat affordable and always immersive fun. Good video, I enjoyed watching and hearing your thoughts and opinions. Keep the rubber side down ✌😎
recommending fanatec while the company is currently trying their hardest to destroy their reputation as fast as possible...bold move. It's probably a great time to buy on the used market though considering how many sim racers are currently selling their fanatec gear to swap to different companies gear. That high end wheelbase looks super out of place mounted onto that g29 entry level flex machine of a chair though. who needs base shakers when your wheelbase is strapped to a lawn chair like some poor mans diy haptic feedback attempt?😆
@avatar94100 that depends on if you mean 800 for just the wheel base, or if that 800 includes pedals, wheel, qr, etc. Moza has good offerings but has a habit of making new product versions of previously released products, causing early moza gear adopters to be left without compatibility with later released gear. Simagic and asatek have great wheelbases at that price range, with simagic having a larger ecosystem considering that asatek is quite new. Asatek has insanely good gear and one of the best, most innovative, and most useful quick releases available, considering they are quite new. Simucube has held the top spot with quality bases for a long time and does have their lowest NM base in the 800 range. You really can't go wrong going either, simucube, asatek, simagic, or moza at this point, with all offering top tier quality direct drive bases below $1,000. I'm already invested into moza, but if i were to start again, it'd be a pick between moza or simagic. Both have great ecosystems overall, but simagics ecosystem is more rounded out with high quality product options, but some at a higher price to match the quality. Whereas moza has a full ecosystem and great options for any budget, but most of their product options are aimed at more lower-mid range budget racers. For instance, Moza only has 3 pedal options, the cheapest being basically a well made toy for entry level new racers, and the most expensive pedal set being $500 bucks but being inferior to other pedal options at same price. Cammus is another newer brand offering a 5nm and a 15nm wheelbase, both well below 800, but I've only heard reviews praising the products like a paid sponsored creator would, with many others saying mostly negative things. I don't trust cammus enough to buy their equipment right now. I'd say go simagic as my #1 recommended with moza in #2. BTW simagic has some of the best pedal options on the market with their p1000 pedals competing with higher priced pedal sets, while have a mid tier pedal price tag.
@avatar94100 that's all assuming you play on pc though. If not, then your only console compatible out of box options are fanatec and logitech for direct drive bases. Moza has an Xbox compatible budget 3nm dd base dropping early this year as well.
Great video dude. I just got into sim racing a couple of months ago and I bought a logi 920 for $200 in amazon and it’s great for a beginner. I’m def thinking about upgrading in the future but this wheel and pedals get the job done
it’s interesting, for years (before this currently setup) i’ve bought fanatec, and never had an issue. i’m seeing so many reviews of poor customer service, which definitely needs to be fixed for such a huge company. i guess the issue is regional, but i’ve never personally had any problems with service
maybe its per area But a fanatic is not near $400 the cheapest is $349 and that is without a steering wheel or pedals after that your at $700 range after its said and done with Logitech or thrust master comes with the full package. Its a bit deceiving.
If you look at Fanatec's ready2race bundle you can get the CSL DD base, WRC wheel, and pedal set for $399 US. I literally just got mine a month ago lol. You're talking about buying that stuff a la carte. Don't do that when you can just save money lol
@danielandrews5315 you able to link me that? I will gladly buy it at thay price . Also my t300 at $250 is 4.5nm and regular pedals. If your talking about the 5nm dd wheel with standard pedals does not make it the best money can buy. It's arguably less then what I have already. For .5 NM FFB more for a extra $150
I really like f1 (in general especially the games) and I found a fanatec with an f1 wheel for 500 euro and while I really like sim I have only played from a friend do you think it is overkill for me to get that bundle and if so what do you recommend?
it depends on your budget and how much you’ll use it. if you’re going to use it a lot, fanatec is a good bet and you’ll get your moneys worth. it’s important to note too that a chair/rig might cost a lot of money, so do a lot of research on all the components you need before you spend
I just wanted to know does anyone know a good realistic car game but not a racing just like something that could learn you how to drive my sister thinks it would be a good idea to buy one and learn how to drive with it , I just wanted some good advice . Thx
idk anything about motion rigs but i would love to have one lol, i think if you got a motion rig you should def go into the higher price range with the sim stuff
@griddrop yea I'm wanting to do a small one that has 6 degrees of motion for my channel but I can't justify that price tag when I have 101 subs ya know? Lol
Assetto corsa competizione and f1 23 are the most mainstream for console, you also have stuff like iRacing on PC. I’m absolutely loving EA WRC rn, it’s a total blast

Dealing with the Rma for the same issue that they didn't fix the first time. I'm switching just for that

You should check Moza products mate
whats up w the lack of fanatec PS starting bundle options
feinding for the fanatec sponsor
Great vid tho
bro just get a t150 pro with shifter, it has a lot better force feedback
Are the fanatac wheels compatible with the moza wheelbases?
No, the quick release system and also the pins on the Fanatec wheels don't match up with Moza bases
should i get a sim racing wheel without knowing how to drive?
What second round fanatec wheel would you recommend to compliment the F1 2.5?
Fanatec isn't the best nawadays. They tend to invest more in advertising and less in quality of service.
it’s interesting, for years (before this currently setup) i’ve bought fanatec, and never had an issue. i’m seeing so many reviews of poor customer service, which definitely needs to be fixed for such a huge company. i guess the issue is regional, but i’ve never personally had any problems with service

also asetek simsports is probably the best bang for buck
“Sim racing “ the last 5 or so years with need for speed and horizon 5
