I did this off and on in Florida since 1997. Anytime there was a stalemate like this the car was let go to prevent property damage to the trucks and breach of peace. However, there may or may not have been a mag tracker attached by then. Go get it later when they're telling everyone how they got one over on ya.
I never let a car go. Once it was hooked it was mine.

This month is my last payment on my car for a 5 year loan. Feels good to finally be done paying off my car note. Thankfully I made all my payments and didn't have to go through this.

Don't ever refinance. I had a car I bought new, paid it off, refinanced it and then hit hard times during COVID and it got repoed. Well I returned it to them but I lost it and couldn't pay the loan. I'll pay for it a long time

@lukelogan6977 Not to start an argument, but there are benefits to not doing that. The depriciation factor; if you get in an accident in the first 18 months then you officially threw away money. The other being that you can negotiate better rates and price if you go with their financing.

@@dubious6718 the cars are generally auctioned off against the loan, the borrower is responsible for the difference if any. And likely a civil suit for the damage to the tow truck.
@@MrWhateverfits The borrower never owned the vehicle to begin with, the lender that paid for it owns it which is how they can repo their own property. Until that last payment is received by the lender and they send the title, the car does not belong to them.

It is important to make an educated decision at times like this. Between the balance owed, value of the car, fees from the repo probably best to find another 3rd party car sales agency that can help. Let the car go, set the example. You can't keep something you don't own.

Check out the smoke coming from the exhaust, chances are oil was getting past the rings in the cylinders in the front of the engine and depending on where the oil pump pickup is located there might be damage to the other cylinders from oil starvation.
i was thinking that, she was smoking pretty good there for a bit now everyone is wearing jackets so it may be cold but chances are the angle that car wass sitting therre was not much oil getting to the pickup anymore

Some repo wrecker truck body's don't have external controls for that very reason, either hard wired remote in the cab of the truck or a wireless remote the driver can carry with him

Rough times happen. I don't fault people for not making a car note. Loss of job or unexpected expenses happen. But then you don't act like a little baby. You call your lender and say, "Hey, I can't make payment, may I please voluntarily surrender the vehicle?" And that is the moral thing to do.

The repo is only the beginning - when the vehicle doesn't sell for enough to pay-off the loan (which it never does) the finance company sues for the remaining balance, starts collection actions including judgment debtor exam where you have to post bail bond loan if you don't show up or pay-off, smarter to drive only that which is paid-off . . .
